• Sanjaya (8/5): One of tbe best value stays in kandy. - Great location, and very neat, spacious, and clean rooms. Only small thing I can think of is that on this occasion, the staff were a bit inexperienced.

• Susamitha (8/5): Affordable and convenient, but service and amenities need work. - The location is definitely the biggest selling point. It’s very close to the city, right near the bus route, making transport incredibly easy. It is also very affordable, making it a decent budget option if you just need a quick place to crash The amenities and service left a lot to be desired. The water pressure in the bathroom was very low, and when we complained about it, the staff gave no response or assistance. Additionally, there was zero housekeeping provided during our 2-night stay, and our package didn't include water heating. The Wi-Fi speed was just average.

• Sathyajith (9/5): Stunning views, exceptional food, and a warm team, but sort out the dust and honour the hours 10/10. - The staff were genuinely warm and helpful, and the room was clean, comfortable, and cosy with a lovely view. Having stayed in the bunk beds previously, I can say the private room was a solid step up- still great value. But the real star of the show was the rooftop café. I've eaten at some of the best spots in Colombo, and this place sitting outside Colombo, holds its own completely. The food is an absolute revelation: generous portions, outstanding quality, and presentation that punches well above the price point. It is, without exaggeration, the kind of meal that makes you want to cancel your plans and just stay another day. They also delivered room service promptly, and even that was fantastic. The views from the rooftop are the kind that make you put your phone down and just be there. No on-site staff after around 10–10:30pm, which was inconvenient as I was travelling for work and returning late - but they did keep the door open for me because I mentioned it! Thank you for that. The walk-in closet area near the entrance had a noticeable amount of dust in my room my travel partner is allergic, and it was a real issue. A chair on the balcony would also be a nice touch. But the biggest disappointment: the café is listed as open until 11pm. We arrived at 10:20pm on the Sunday we stayed and were turned away — they were already closing up. We ended up ordering Uber Eats for dinner at a place with a rooftop café that was supposedly still open. If you list 11pm, you need to honour 11pm.
• Travis (10/5): I’m going back there again in a couple of weeks, I loved it that much. - Great room with clean, premium bedding. The food from the rooftop restaurant and service was excellent. It also has a co-working space with ample seating.
• Jens (8/5): Ein guter Zwischenstopp mit freundlichem Personal und hervoragendem Restaurant - Die Unterkunft war geräumig mit gut funktionierender Klimaanlage. Kleinem Balkon, auf den wir die Stühle vom Zimmer gestellt haben☺️ Das Bad war etwas muffig, der Abfluss müsste vllt mal gereinigt werden. Aber sonst vollkommen okay für den Preis. Das Restaurant auf dem Dach hat volle 10 Punkte verdient, wir haben dort zwei mal sehr gut gegessen🤗 Bad etwas muffig.

• Niels (9/5): Perfect voor kort verblijf - Dit hotel is perfect als je even ietswat moderner wilt verblijven, maar ook op je budget wilt letten. De kamer is namelijk erg schoon en netjes en heeft op het dakterras de mogelijkheid om lekker en goed te kunnen eten. Het is lopend goed te doen naar het centrum of met een Tuktuk. De verkeersdrukte is in de ochtend goed te horen. Het is dus niet heel erg geïsoleerd, maar wel voldoende om goed te kunnen slapen.

• Tashana (9/5): Nice stay :) - It was well located near kandy centre 20min walk to mall with cheap transport links like the bus stop outside which could take you to town for as little as 35lkr. Lovely room balcony with great views. Option of rooftop restaurant but I didn’t use. The restaurant downstairs on the main street “clay pot” had lovely food and customer service. The sink was blocked however, reported on leaving. The beds could do with a mattress topper for added comfort and softness.

• Margherita (3/5): Unsafe and poorly handled - Modern & good location We booked a deluxe double room for 2 nights. On the first night, water leaked through the window, spreading near electrical plugs and our charging devices. I even slipped at 1am due to the wet floor. Management was informed immediately and promised to fix the issue and offer compensation. That night they offered bunk beds instead of the deluxe double room we paid for, which we refused. Unfortunately, the next day, when we asked about changing rooms, they acted as if they were unaware of the issue and said we should have informed them again in the morning and kept on blaming my partner that he should have acted first thing in the morning about this. When i was assertive with the manager or owner- he apologized and said it was miss communication between night staff and day staff, and us. That night also, AC stopped working due to water affecting the electricity, and we were told this was “normal,” yet advised not to charge our devices. Next day, the room was not properly cleaned despite the water and damp towels. At checkout, they offered free breakfast, but our taxi was arriving at that time.

• Charles (8/5): Comfortable stay in Kandy - Helpful staff, resolved any issues quickly. Large comfortable, well-equipt room. Room had various cleanliness issues on arrival (brown substance smeared across light switch, bad smelling stain on sheets, urine smell in bathroom), but staff resolved these when contacted. Only real issue with room was that shower cubicle has a full lenth window to the street with a curtian that doesn't fully cover it. Some damp / drain smells persisted in the bathroom but this was bearable.

There was a fan and an AC! The staff were very nice and accommodating. My partner and I got given fresh juice on arrival. The location was also decent, we were a quick walk away from the tooth temple and lake, also near a great dosa and curry place! We could also easily get a Tuktuk when we felt it was a bit too hot in Kandy to walk. Nothing, Everything was amazing

• Anjalee (9/5): Clean, Quiet, & Comfortable - I stayed in a dorm room at Kurumbunkz for 3 nights and had a great experience. The room and the attached bathroom were super clean and comfortable. The staff were friendly and responsive whenever I interacted. The location is also super convenient with a 5-minute tuk ride to the city. The bed was a little too hard for my preference. Also worth noting is that if you're looking for the typical social and community-oriented hotel atmosphere as a solo traveler, Kurumbunkz may not be the ideal place. But if you want a quiet & comfortable or budget-friendly place to stay with your friends, this could be a great fit. Although not directly related to the hostel, I found the food in their rooftop restaurant to be subpar.
• Ten (10/5): The best hostel ever in Kandy - The environment was very chic and clean. First day I stayed in dorm and the room was clean, comfortable bed, bathroom in good and clean condition. Then I decided to stay in the next day through booking.com for the deluxe private room. It was amazing with comfortable bed, ample space and clean. Besides, the location it’s so strategic and you can just go to Kandy lake just by walking distance. Friendly staff that willing to help. I would say that the staff went beyond and above to help for the transportation and also the location that you planned to go. Whatever you have any queries they are trying their best to help you 👍 Nothing I can comment about it

• Adam (10/5): So nice that I stayed a second time! - This time I stayed in the private room instead of the dorm, and I think it was a great value stay! Room was big, well lit, and had very comfortable bedding. A big wardrobe as well, so you can hang/store your things pretty conveniently. Nothing.
• Adam (10/5): Exceptional - Their rooftop restaurant was awesome! Had their breakfast burrito twice and think it was one of the tastier things I had in Kandy. They're more of an upscale hostel, so the rooms are clean and well-designed. A little pricier, but certainly worth it if you're wanting a slightly more comfortable dorm experience! Location is good, about a 15 minute walk into the town alongside the lake and about 5 minutes from one of the performance centers for the Kandy traditional fire-dance experiences. Shower curtain can be little tricky to close completely.

• Mohammed (9/5): Superb - I recently stayed at this hostel for 2 nights and had an unforgettable experience. The location is superb, with breathtaking views, especially from the rooftop lounge. The room and bathroom were spacious and clean. What truly sets this hostel apart is the unparalleled hospitality. Mr. Mahesh, the manager, and Mr. Naveen at the reception provided exemplary service. Mahesh not only recommended a fantastic itinerary in Kandy but also went above and beyond to help me secure train tickets when they were hard to come by. Naveen's polite and humble demeanor, along with his prompt assistance, made my stay even more enjoyable. His kindness extended to accompanying me to the train station when I was struggling with the ticket. Though I don't remember all the staff's names, their kindness and professionalism didn't go unnoticed. I am genuinely grateful for such a remarkable experience in Kandy. Thank you!
• Magdalena (7/5): Good - The room was clean and water pressure with hot water. Bed was comfy. AC working quietly. The poeple working there were very nice. The restaurant at the rooftop(though they could use some upgrades for breakfast options). This place is advertising itself as co-working space, where in fact WiFi was not sufficient to have online calls. The price was a bit high taking that the room consist of only bed and bathroom and wardrobe. No mini fridge, or desk or hairdryer. Also the rooms Are not cleaned everyday, what you could expect for this price.
• Athanasia (8/5): Lovely modern room in great location. - The room had large windows with a great vew alongside a balcony. The bed was also very comfortable and the staff were very nice. There was also a great rooftop bar / restaurant with amazing views over Kandy! I didn’t find this very good value compared to other places we have stayed in Sri Lanka, breakfast wasn’t included, there wasn’t a kettle in the room or a fridge and when I asked if I could have a hair dryer there wasn’t one that they could have provided.

The lockers didn’t lock properly so you have ti apply an extra lock to make it secure. Also I gave away some laundry, unfortunately it came back as dirty as I gave it away out smelled like some perfume was applied.

Big space, great views, good wi-fi --- so overall a good set up for digital nokmads. The storage space/locker was difficult to access. Lighting and positioning of the AC in the room was improper. Blankets were quite thin. Price per night was on a higher side.

My room and the bed were very comfortable and quiet, it was one of the best dorms i've ever stayed at. There is an amazing rooftop terrace with good food. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

• Peter (6/5): Pleasant - We stayed at Kurumbunkz for one night. It started raining so we decided to have drinks and dinner at the hotel. On the menu it says „Happy Hour before 6pm“. Thats wrong, it was ONLY from 6-7pm, so we had to pay the normal price for the drinks…Food was great though…but kinda expensive. We were the only guests in the restaurant. There were a lot of guys working but no one kinda knew how things work, they always had to call the manager…They also didnt have enough change, so better pay with credit card. There was NO Wifi in the rooms, dissapointing.

• Anke (8/5): Very good - Loved my stay here! All the staff is so friendly and wanting to help. They had good tips for my stay in Kandy, but also for the rest of my stay in Sri Lanka. The hotel is very clean and since it's a new hotel, everything still looks good. I had an upgrade to a private room, but the dorm looked fine as well. Also the location is great, within 15 minutes you're at the temple of tooth which is next to the city centre. Would like to thank the amazing staff to make my stay the best!
