Guest Reviews
- Kenneth (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable accommodation! - The location was fantastic walking in, was all on one level! Nothing! It meta all my needs….
- Duckworth (10/5): - Lovely large apartment very modern and stylish with 2 big double rooms . Everything u could need is supplied .location was good not to far from all the attractions .Definitely recommend would return however it's fully booked which speaks for its self
- Edit (10/5): -
- Sergiu (10/5): - The flat was spacious
- Lisa (8/5): Great stay, good location - Good location
Large and spacious, beautifully decorated A little noisy with the house above
- Maria (1/5): Awful experience in sundowner - N.a The apartment had 2 wooden chairs in the lounge with cleaning products on one and rubble on the other. They were in the middle of the lounge floor when we arrived. I spoke to the owner who apologised amd stated he had an engineer to the boiler and he must have left them in the living room. The heating was on all night and then stopped working on the Sunday. We had no heating or hot water and the engineer who called out stated to the owner some time later that day he was unable to fix it and the owner advised we looked for alternative accommodation. Once the heating stopped working the apartment smelt awful and was very damp. The kitchen wasn't clean some of the utensils we had to wash before we used them. The house's opposite were awful with police there all the time some sort of hmo properties. The area was not good at all. The people above the apartment were noisy late into the night. The tv was Netflix only so we couldn't watch it as we don't have a netflix account. We were supposed to stay for 3 night and stayed for one. There was a dead seagul in the front garden with nothing to clean it up with eg a shovel or even a brush. The apartment shouldn't be rented out if basics like the boiler aren't operational. It wasn't a good place to stay in terms of the broken boiler chairs left with rubble and not checked or the awful area. We were also charged £65 for cleaning amd £25 service charge as part of the stay. It was not a good experience at all and booking .coms refund amd support left alot to be desired as well. Altogether an unpleasant experience.
- Damon (5/5): - We came to Scarborough for a chilled weekend and on first appearances Sundowner was exactly what we were looking for. The apartment was a good size and perfectly situated for the beach. However, on closer inspection it is clear that the apartment is a little tired and could do with some TLC. We were told early check in wouldn’t be possible before 3:00 because cleaners would be on site, but other than the beds being made and bin emptied we don’t feel the apartment had been thoroughly cleaned as we would expect.
The first thing we noticed was the damp sewage-like smell in the back bedroom which travelled through in to the kitchen and living room area.
However, the final straw was the unbearable noise from the residents above. We were really hoping for a relaxing stay and the constant banging and loud talking really ruined our time here - to the point where we checked out a day early. Obviously this is not the owners fault or something they can control but this is definitely something to consider if you are looking for a quiet weekend away.
- Allan (5/5): - The bedrooms were too far apart for us with having a young child. This clearly isn't the hosts fault but it was a downside. There was not a working washing machine which is something that was advertised. The accommodation was also advertised as having parking. This was essential for us but was not strictly true.
- Claire (10/5): Great weekend, perfect location a short walk to both the North and South Bay. - The property was nice and modern and decorated to high standard. A great floor plan with great size bedrooms and good sized living area. Could have a table and chairs in the outside area.
- Helen (9/5): A very pleasant stay, we would come back - We stayed in the ground floor flat. It was clean and had everything we needed. It is also conveniently located a stones through from a one stop convenience shop. The beach is a short walk away. We had a problem with hot water during our stay, the host was extremely responsive and a plumber was there within an hour of me reporting it. These things happen but I was impressed with the rapid response. The stairway to the balcony area is precarious, it’s accessible but with care, however this didn’t hamper our stay at all.
- Rebecca (6/5): Didn't quite hit the mark for us - Nicely decorated and furnished apartment, great location, dog friendly. Had everything we needed for our stay. Parking - the information on here is bit misleading. You can park overnight if there is a space but need to move the car the next morning. Parking disc used by locals only enables 2-3hrs parking so you can't arrive and forget about the car unless you park in a paid carpark
This is a basement flat with no view.
We arrived late evening (7pm) on Friday and it sounded like the people upstairs were having a party and were noisy for quite some time.
The rear bedroom has a mixture of awful smells, this was eye watering and we couldn't understand what it was so couldn't sleep in there, the ensuite in there also smells awful.
There was NO hot water during our stay, we had to boil the kettle to wash the pots, and had no hot water in the shower. We only stayed for 2 nights and didn't want to spend our time phoning the owners and spoiling our short time away.
For the price we paid for two nights - it left us feeling disappointed. Any other service would offer a partial refund as a gesture.
- Ian (8/5): Servicible flat in good proximity to the North beach. - Great ground floor flat, full amenities inc. dish washer, washer-dryer and microwave. En-suite toilet to the back bedroom. Front bedroom is large and next to the bathroom. Free on-road parking if you use a clock disc, with 2-3hrs free parking depending on which zone you are in, between 9-5 (12-5 Sun). You can move your car to another parking zone by the 2/3 hr time window. We stayed for 10nights, and I only ended up paying for parking when visiting Filey. No terrestrial tv channels, but plenty of my of smart apps to log in your own account and watch. Nearby store and takeaway, which proved handy several times. Towels, washing capsules for clothes and dishwasher provided. Never used the oven or hob, but they looked good. The small courtyard to the rear has been let go a bit, no longer like the photo and was unusable. The steps up out of it to the Queens Parade would be difficult for anyone with stair issues.
Some noise from holidaymakers staying in the apartment above, particularly with their dogs barking or children running around a lot - but hey, they are wooden floors, so it’s pot luck as to who is staying there when you are. Not an issue for me personally.
- Jackson (10/5): Exceptional short stay - The apartment was exceptionally clean and well maintained throughout. Location was near where we needed to be and close to other shops and amenities well within walking distance. Nothing to dislike.
- Malcolm (9/5): Would definitely stay again, when visiting - Excellent location for open air theatre. Could do with outside table and chairs in hot weather like it was
- Roche (10/5): Family half term get together great value accommodation was lovely clean and well presented. - Location was very close to the town centre a nice walk and there was a local pub which was very friendly cafe and shops very close. Beaches brilliant for long walks a nice stroll along the promenade and the SPA was very nice to eat and drink or just a coffee. Nothing really a little bit more Sun would have been the icing on the cake and the large Chinese Restaurant was just ok would not rush back. Pub food was very good had a great meal not to far from the accommodation in the Scarborough Arms
- Cheryl (6/5): Nice little apartment; but could be better. - This flat is in a great location, and the layout is really nice. The bedrooms are large and well presented, and the kitchen has most of the things you'd need for your stay. The toilet in the back bedroom had black mould, and there are no curtains in the room which was really annoying, as there is a security light on the steps just outside the patio doors in the bedroom which was on all night.
Also, there were no instructions how to use the hob in the kitchen, and we didn't know where to put the rubbish on leaving.
- Chloe (6/5): Not unpleasant but didn't meet expectations - The location was great and the decor very tasteful. Comfy beds and sofa. Unfortunately the whole place just felt unfinished and a bit grubby which was a real shame when so much effort had gone into the styling. I wasn't aware when booking that this property was in a basement, the stairs to upstairs were dangerous with exposed carpet grippers. The decking outside was full of litter and broken tiles. I also wouldn't stay here again with young children as the layout of the property meant that I either had to put the children 2 rooms and a long corridor away, right next to the front door, or the same distance but with doors directly to outside within the room.
- Dean (10/5): Good value for money - Spacious, modern and very clean
- Philip (10/5): Nice couple of days - Very clean and tidy Light coming in from windows
- David (9/5): Superb -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Muriel (9/5): Loved the apartment and would go back again. - Numbers on Key box were a little sticky and had to be tried 2 or 3 times to work but that was minor. Loved the size of the bedrooms, bathroom and the fully equipped kitchen. The en-suite was a bonus especially when there were 3 generations of females staying. The only thing we could complain about - and that was not the host's fault - was there was obviously, a young child in the apartment above who ran about in the morning and then again early evening to about 8.30pm. It was SO unbelievably loud.
- Paige (8/5): Great stay, will be back! - Beds were lovely and comfy. Best night sleep that we've had in a long time. Great location. All very clean. Property decorated lovely. Had a great stay, and I would happily book again if we return. Just a tiny niggle, shampoo/wash bottle in shower was empty so had to nip out to buy some. Shop across the road so wasn't a big issue at all.
Would have preferred if check-in time was a bit earlier as 4pm is rather late, but we knew this when we booked.
& not a complaint, just more of a note for the host, drain from upstairs pours out onto window/wall outside of living room, guessing when upstairs were in shower. Just may be something to check on if not already aware. :)
- Kim (8/5): Comfortable and stylish in a great location with en-suite facilities - Really nice contemporary decoration The rear bedroom had a musty smell
- Clean (8/5): Very good - Location was great The heating was not working, the back bedroom was cold and damp, and could do with having curtains in both bedrooms,
also there is no parking at the property, only a couple of hours with a disc provided
- Rita (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Overall a really pleasant stay just need some blackout in the bedrooms. - Two bedrooms and nice bathroom. Nice living room space. Secure.
Good fully equipped kitchen. Poor wifi and phone signal in back bedroom near kitchen.
No curtains only blinds in bedrooms so room nearly fully lit at sunrise which is quite early in summer.
- Richard (8/5): A good central base to explore Scarborough which was clean, modern and well equipped. - Great location central for both bays. Shops nearby. Parking was ok. We were able to park outside property from 3pm as disc zone expired at 5pm. We had to go through iPlayer and ITVX to watch live tv.
The internet password was wrong on the email sent but luckily it was right on the notice in the property.
- Caitlin (4/5): disappointed - It was ground floor It was quite unclean, there was lots of mess. We had to share the small toilet in one of the bedrooms right at the back of the apartment. The noise from the people upstairs was horrendous. There were information about fire protocols and it went off for a good 10 minutes.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great and the apartment was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean 👌 instructions for parking spot on.
- Faye (9/5): Very lovely - Beautiful and modern No view and no parking
- Emma (10/5): Amazing. Will be back. - The property was extremely well decorated, very clean and in a great location. The hosts were great and the whole stay was easy and straight forward. We will definitely look at using this property again in the future. The bedrooms could do with some curtains to block out the sun.
- Stacey (9/5): Fabulous location, stylish apartment! We loved it. - The property was very stylish, just to my taste.
Upon arrival it was exceptionally clean and the diffusers throughout made the place smell very nice.
The bathroom was lovely and the shower was delightful.
The wifi worked a treat, which was needed as we didn’t get very good cellular connection whilst in the apartment.
The kitchen although we didn’t really use it, had everything you could possibly need, including a dishwasher and a washer dryer, which is not common at all.
Both bedrooms were very relaxing, although I preferred the front bedroom as it was the warmest and it was next door to the bathroom.
The heating system was so easy to use and the property got nice and warm, although the back bedroom didn’t seem to warm up as much.
I would definitely return to this place, the location is so good, and the property was very nice.
I would recommend this place. The road adjacent to the property was a little less desirable, but that is not something that can be changed by this host.
