Guest Reviews
- Caitlin (8/5): Very good -
- Receptie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Damian (7/5): Good - Great localization, no troubles with checkin and checkout, balcony and access to the garden. I could swear there was supposed to be an AC in the room but there wasn't. It was very hot. The smell in the room was weird, something like urine.
- Chandy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leon (7/5): Good -
- Robert (7/5): Was nice - Location is perfect Basement rooms should be mentioned more clear
- Jolene (7/5): Good -
- Kelli (7/5): Overall the stay was lovely! - Perfect location, room space, Dutch feel, view into a garden and a large bathroom. The hologram check-in was interesting. Hard mattress, no fan, door kept slamming down the hall on the second floor which was startling.
- Carla (9/5): Great for a city break - This was my third stay at this hotel. It is a great location. Breakfast is good. It is lovely to be able to sit in the bar/breakfast area looking over the garden. The access to hot drinks is really appreciated. Amsterdam is not a cheap city but this hotel is as good value as you find, I think. Short walk to Museumplein, to tram stops and close to Vondelpark - great for jogging.
- Aziz779 (6/5): Pleasant - Good location. Tight room. Everything else is about average
- Miglė (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aria (10/5): Exceptional - In my stay there every tings was perfect, Their employees were very polite and friendly. The hotel close to central station
- Anonymous (6/5): If the hotel sorted the beds and air conditioning out be a brilliant hotel - This hotel is in a great location The mattress was so soft that both of us sank into the middle of the mattress and we are not big people it was the worst 5 nights sleep I’ve had there was no air conditioning in the room or fan rooms get really hot at night we had to open the window at and got bitten alot of times won’t be stopping here again
- Aryasatya (7/5): Good -
- Liam (8/5): Very good -
- Vanduuren (10/5): Exceptional - The location is excellent the only problem is the stairs when you are old but they will help you.
I would recommend
- Amemakalor (7/5): Prinsen is perfect for few days in Amsterdam - The location is the best if you are looking to walk to town center and very close to lots of museums. The virtual host is very helpful and response quickly. There is tea and coffee 24/7. There is also a cute garden in the back for smokers. The hotel in general is very clean and the security is great as there is a security person who comes around multiple times in the night to make sure guests are safe when coming in late. The room is very tiny and even though the carpets in my room look clean it felt kind of weird under my feet.
- Amemakalor (8/5): Prinsen again and again ! - This is my second stay at Prinsen hotel, I booked a double room this time as the only thing I didn’t like about my first stay was the size of the single bedroom.
It had greatly improved my whole experience at the hotel as I was more comfortable in a double bedroom. And the bathroom is newly renovated and very clean. Nothing! Everything was great this time.
- Arab (8/5): Very good -
- Joe (10/5): A UNIQUELY CHARMING GEM NEAR EVERYTHING YET OFF THE BEATEN TRACK - WE LOVED OUR ROOMS (40 AND 50) NEXT TO EACH OTHER WITH BALCONIES OVERLOOKING THE GARDEN . VERY AMIABLE AND HELPFUL STAFF. THE LOCATION IS VERY GOOD, A QUIET SPOT NEAR VONDEL PARK AND THE Leidseplein. IT IS AN EASY WALK TO THE CANAL ZONE, THE JORDAN, PARKS AND SHOPPING. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
- Kieron (7/5): Good - Great that you can help yourself to a lovely coffee and take a seat in the nice garden area out the back TVs could do with an upgrade (smart tv)
- Tomáš (10/5): Exceptional - Very small room, but nice, clean, good equipment
Very pleasant staff Everything was ok
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional - Location is amazing, near Vonfelpark and away from city noise.
- Khomotso (7/5): Good -
- Joe (10/5): Exceptional - Super location, very close to Vondel Park and the and the Canal Zone yet very quiet and safe. The rooms with terraces opening to a lovely green space are especially nice. The staff is friendly and helpful and the virtual night staff was a funky twist but it works just fine. The Prinsen Hotel is Reasonably priced and Highly recommended!
- Elena (5/5): Passable - Location and complementary coffee and tea at the lobby. Patio or court yard garden was very cool. Room was extremely small. Floors and bathroom never been cleaned during our eight-night stay. No air conditioning or fridge in the room. The desk phone was disconnected as we tried to contact the hotel staff in one of the evenings, they are only there for a half day. The AI check-in was odd. €17 for breakfast was absolutely unreasonable for the kind of food and service.
- Corrina (8/5): Amazing stay and would totally recommend the Prinsen Hotel as a great location base - Amazing location. If we had stayed in or around Dam SQ we would probably not have seen the beautiful areas around the Prinsen Hotel. Room was a little small but it didn't really bother us as we weren't there to spend time in it
- Selin (9/5): Superb -
- Avtandil (9/5): Superb -
- Priscila (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional - The hologram check in was cool. Great coffee and drinks selection and quiet. Walking distance of museums. Nothing to dislike.
- Kedar (7/5): There could be a better customer Service. - No Complaints about the geographical location of the property. -I was there on a Work trip. The room Assigned to me, was pretty small and cramped up considering it. I have "waste of money" feeling about the place.
-Since I was leaving early and coming after 4PM, there was no one to complain after 4pm where I would feel that problem would be solved.
-It did not have appropriate desk setup even for a laptop work. It had a stool to sit, not a chair.
-Door was not locking properly. It had terrible insulation, I could hear people walking moving around.
-I had requested housekeeping couple of times, they just cleaned the bed and changed the Towels. Neither Desk was cleaned nor the room was vacuumed.
-Bed was not comfortable at all.
- Picton (9/5): Short break - Good location and friendly staff. I liked the fact that we could use the kitchen to help ourselves to tea/coffee at any time. Bed was very comfortable. Towels and sheets were changed frequently. My room was at the front, ground floor and sometimes subject to noise of people outside.
- Pedro (3/5): Poor - The room was very small. There was no air-conditioning and it was very hot. There was no good noise insolation and we could hear the other guests. This would be fine but the stay was expensive and didn't even include breakfast.
- Pat (1/5): Great location, lovely street but behind the door the picture changed dramatically. - Good location for the museums and eating out. The bedrooms were a disgrace.
- Cecilia (8/5): I enjoyed my stay. - Great Location, quiet street near museums, park, restaurants. Staff were helpful, free hot drinks, garden, lift. Bathroom was good, and room quiet. Room and bed small and too warm. Only a small window high up, but otherwise had everything I needed.
- Carla (9/5): Superb -
- Wallace (7/5): Good -
- Nicky (8/5): Excellent staff but not value for money - The staff are amazing and extremely helpful. Thank you No aircon in the rooms and very small.
- Patrik (7/5): Good - Room was a bit small, beds were comfortable. There was hot water and water pressure and the bathroom was clean, not moldy.
- Bertus (5/5): to be fair, i normally rent a 1 bedroom apartment, so this is not fair to compare. - Great location for the downtown. Very nice good people that helped a lot. Elevator to room was excellent. Room way to small for a double bed, barely could make it around the bed. No sheer curtains in window, so was not able to open curtains as there were people living straight across. Dark dingy hallway leading to the room. No temperature control, room was like a sweat box, staff did supply a fan which helped.
- Chandani (8/5): Very good -
- Frederico (10/5): Exceptional - Decent hotel. Great location. Every hotel in Amsterdam is expensive, so this was good value for money. Difficult to top.
- Betsy (8/5): Lovely & accommodating hotel.Great location & I didn’t want to leave to go home. - The front desk clerk (Alfio?) was extremely helpful and deserves high praise. The hotel’s location was perfect for my needs. (Within walking distance to museums, parks, stores, restaurants…)The place was clean and bed was comfortable. The $17 breakfast was not the greatest, so I only got that once. Some hotel guests came in at all hours of the night & early morning & were noisy, but that’s not any fault of the hotel’s.
- Daryl (9/5): Prinsen Hotel offers a great location for the curious traveler in Amsterdam. - The location of Prinsen Hotel is perfect. Just minutes walk from Museumplein and located very near Leidseplein with access to the #2 and #12 Trams that take you to Dam Square and Central Station, the location is very convenient for sightseeing in Amsterdam. If you like to walk around while touring the location of the hotel is perfect, not too far out of Central A'dam you can walk to all the major places. I took the bus to and from Schiphol airport with no trouble at all and the bus stop was just a block from the Hotel!
My single room was small and located in the basement of the hotel. My windows opened onto the green garden space behind the hotel which guests can use to relax and smoke. However, I'm not a smoker, and the fumes did enter my room. The room was very narrow, but had all the things I need to be comfortable including a small sitting area (table and chair) near the window so that I could enjoy the garden view. The room did not open onto the garden, but you could get there either via an adjacent hallway or through the upstairs dining area.
I did not take breakfast at the hotel, but I did enjoy having a 24 hour open pantry for an even cup of tea and a morning coffee.
Overall, I think the location of this hotel was the best part for me. The neighborhood is pretty and safe and I was able to walk to just about every place I wanted to go. I booked a single room and the room was located in the basement next to a service area. Everyday the hallway was blocked with housekeeping carts and bins of used linens. It did not feel "welcoming" and often my hallway was semi-blocked by the hotel's equipment. I don't spend time in the hallway, so I guess it didn't really matter. My room was efficient but the bathroom was extremely small. I could not stand in the bathroom to dry my hair.
- Konstantin (6/5): OKAY for the price, but could be treated better - There’s online check-in and mobile key, which is always nice.
Single bed was comfortable. I had a good sleep.
Free tea and coffee available in the lobby. Room is not properly cleaned. Hairs everywhere, even in the wall by the ceiling. Dust in smaller places, like bedside shelf.
No AC, so it was quite hot in the room with the temperature outside being around 20-25.
There was no separate shower, just the shower-curtain, which is normal for Netherlands. But if I knew that, I would not book the room.
Everything looks quite old and used. But for this price it’s okay, I only wish it was cleaner.
- Nitya (8/5): Very good - Great location and clean hotel! Room was a bit small but it was fine for a few nights. Very easy to check in and staff were really nice.
- Kelly (7/5): Good -
- Sorcha (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (6/5): Very accommodating staff, my stay improved when I moved to a different room on a different floor. The location is amazin - Perfect location, beautiful street and lovely back garden Was not very clean
- Ana (9/5): Great location - The location was really good. The bed and the view were nice. The check in was fast and the staff was really nice. The rooms seem a little bit old but overall
the space is good.
- Margaretta (4/5): My stay - The staff were courteous. The room temperature was too hot for me, I couldn't control it. I opened the door to the garden and then struggled to close it. The lights in the room were too dim. The shower had a terribly slow drain, so I stood in dirty water for my shower and not having privacy as the bathroom wall by the shower is glass and the room was by the garden. Also, no tea or coffee making facilities in the room.
- Teresa (6/5): Pleasant -
- Chris (7/5): Good - Excellent location. Really helpful staff. Nice to have tea and coffee available all day. I was a little disappointed by some of the furniture choices in the room. The space to hang up your clothes was short, so my dresses didn’t fit, and there was no place to put my soap or shampoo in the shower, so I ended up putting it on the floor.
- López (7/5): Small but comfortable and very convenient location. Easy check in and easy check out - location small but not a problem
- Daina (9/5): Superb - There were super friendly staff. And modern self-service + excellent idea "the big portal" of virtual communication. And I liked the garden with fantastic blooming trees. Thank you for coffee. tee option. Great location because the hotel is on quiet street and between city center and park. There were specific aroma in room which I personally didn't like. but it is question of taste. And it feels that hotel is a bit old (e.g. bathroom)
- Andi (1/5): Bedbugs - Everything was great until we woke up on the last day. Beware of bedbugs. Room 15. April 20th, 2025.
- Claire (8/5): Comfortable stay in a good location near to the city centre. - Good location, close to the museum quarter. Great Indonesian restaurant, Kartika, nearby on Overtoom. Friendly, helpful staff. Room was clean and well-presented. Room was very small. Bathroom door didn’t shut.
- Muliyanto (8/5): Very good -
- Magdalena (8/5): Very good - Great location, comfortable bed, helpful receptionist and hologram service. Breakfast was ok. A little garden that looked as very nice to sit in (at the time of my stay it was too cold to have that opportunity)
- Muliyanto (7/5): Good -
- Tina (9/5): Superb - Positive:
+ Elevator
+ Quiet and good neighbourhood
+ Room very quiet
+ Close to City Center/Leidseplein (Restaurants/Shops)
+ Friendly Staff and holographic Concierge/Support
after 4pm
+ Ideal for City trips, especially for culture trips with focus on Museum Area Nothing.
- Laura (6/5): Great location only for couples - Great location Extremely small room with sink next to the bed. I asked (when booking) additional bedsheet- haven’t get.
- Sofian (8/5): Very good -
- Kooh (3/5): Poor -
- Mschingoogle (8/5): Very good - The location was superb, walking from city leidesplein.
- Sheila (8/5): Ok but the cramped size of single room, and dark colors of halls & single room made quality less than what I expecte - Single room very cramped, tiny. Difficult to move in room with a medium 24 inch suitcase & small backpack. Overpriced for the quality of the property.
- Damjan (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Onur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tijana (10/5): Top location for exploring Ams! - Small rooms, but very comfortable bed and great location! Very friendly staff!
- Mike (6/5): Nice location and staff. Confusing setup. Expensive for what you get. - It was a nice stay. We had 3 rooms and the smallest of them was a small double but it was very small and almost should be a single room. Don’t understand the virtual reception when they are nearby anyway. It confuses the guests.
- Choi (8/5): Very good -
- Dino (6/5): Fair, if your staying for 1 night and out of all the time - My room was at the basement adjacent to the stock room. you can hear outside noise from the room as it has a window opened towards the street
- Martin (9/5): Superb - Wonderful location - very close to the centre and yet in a quiet part of it. Staff very helpful, and so was the hologram :) Well designed space in a typical old building. Airport shuttle bus stop conveniently located 2minutes away. There was some extractor on the roof which kept humming all through the night.
- Shafaq (5/5): Passable -
- Serhii (9/5): the location and the service are superb! -
- Coleen (5/5): Passable -
- Karin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jadranko (9/5): Superb - Nice little hotel with a location close to the Rijksmuseum and well connected to trams and metro.
- E. (8/5): Very good -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jim (8/5): Very good -
- Zoe (10/5): Perfect out of the way hotel - Quaint out of the way hotel while still being in the centre, close to pretty much everything you'd need/want
- Cha (9/5): Superb - A very clean hotel with good location None
- Samantha (9/5): Great hotel, safe, clean and comfortable - Great hotel away from the city centre.
The hotel felt safe and the room had all I needed - i.e comfy bed and my own bathroom.
I had the single room of the 4th floor and it was great for me. I'd stay here again.
Room was clean (just a teeny bit of dust... but that doesn't bother me too much :) some of that would have been from an open window anyway so that's not the hotels fault
Hologram check in was good too. nothing really :)
- Elchin (8/5): Very good -
- Melis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luiz (5/5): The hotel needs to improve its administration - We arrived at 3:15 in the afternoon. The clerk said there was no clean room. I insisted that we had booked two rooms. So he agreed to give us one. We left our things in the room and returned at 6pm. There was no longer an attendant. The contact was by hologram with a person outside the premises. The person who attended to us informed us that there was no room! Unbelievable. And there was no solution. I then asked what we were going to do, already dissatisfied with the hotel's lack of commitment. He called a colleague and said that "by magic" he had found a room. The hotel really needs to improve its service.
It is very well located and offers a free coffee machine, which is a plus.
- Alison (8/5): Very good - Great location.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- Ingrīda (8/5): Very good -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Fatullayeva (8/5): Very good -
- Colin (8/5): Very good -
- Georgios (8/5): Very good - Excellent location, quiet streer, room was quite spacious and clean. Seemless check-in. Wifi was unstable sometimes and rather slow.
- Frederic (5/5): Passable -
- Yvonne (8/5): Go and enjoy it :) - The room at first sight seemed small but it is a compact, efficient and comfortable use of space. We had plenty of space for our bags and items; well equipped ensuite and easy access to lift and reception.
When we asked for extra hoovering, this was done willingly and straight away which was really good :)
We did not eat at the hotel.
Our stay was ideal & easy for where we wanted to be and go, inlcuding train and tram access.
We walked everywhere:)) Not essential, but the shower looked worn out - head and temperature taps could be modernised; easily removed will be the few signs of mould on some of the tiles.
- Joe (7/5): Good - Charming room was evocative of Amsterdam, and hologram check in setup was novel and effective. Room was very clean. Block glass window had no shade to block out light from neighboring room. Also, poor sound insulation from walls as the people in the next room could be heard loudly. Room also needed better/brighter lighting.
- Ian (7/5): Good - Clean and reasonably priced, good location A little noisy, doors banging, noise from other rooms. Heating was either off or was on max
