Guest Reviews
- Idrees (7/5): - Check-in was seamless. Communication with host was 100%. Very clean & secure. Location is very central to the many activities, shopping centres, restaurants etc on the Berg.
Helpful host. Very tranquil, peaceful surroundings.

- Charles (8/5): Serenity and tranquility made Cherbury the place to be. - It was a good wind down experience between the previous leg of our road trip and the upcoming SANI pass tour. The serene and tranquil surroundings made our stay extra special. Pili was a good hostess. Nothing
- De Wet (8/5): -
- Sisile (10/5): -
- Tamryn (6/5): Pretty but impractical - The garden views and bird life were lovely. Unfortunately there was no kitchen or food prep area. The fridge and microwave are in the bedroom but there is no counter to work on so food prep is very awkward. The sink is outside so washing up is difficult. There is no pathway so you walk through the long wet grass to get round the house to/from your car.
- Joubert (8/5): -
- Gabriel (9/5): - Quiet location, beautiful nature around, had everything we needed The bed is old and could be upgraded
- Shabane (8/5): Great peaceful stay . - Everything was as advertised and the bathroom was big compared to what we are used to.Neat ,clean and comfortable. Not really like but a taller table would have made life better just a suggestion .

- Tobias (9/5): - The garden is just wow! :) The bed can develop something of a smell at night. It is not too bad, though!

- Bhengu (4/5): I did not enjoy it. I struggled moving around because of staircases and the car being very far and - Owner is impatient.
Car is parked very very far from the room.
Bath towels are old , ugly and rough.
Linen was not changed for the whole 6 nights. Yes, whole 6 nights
- Denise (7/5): Good - The setting was lovely with views onto the garden and distant mountains. It was warm and cosy even though it was snowing on the mountains. My host was very helpful.and patient. The kitchen needs to be unified and I would have liked a plate for frying.
- William (8/5): Pleasant farm stay. - Excellent communication. Nice bathroom and comfortable bed. Could do with a table to prepare food and to eat on.
- Andries (9/5): Superb - Very clean and all we explained. Very friendly owners No TV, but that did not deter the evening
- Elette (8/5): Very good - Very peaceful and private. Nice to be out of town and in nature.
- Steve (10/5): Perfect for our trip - will stay there again if in the area. - Room was very comfortable, always hot water, Shower was very nice, Had everything we needed. Host kept us informed of all the restaurants close by in the area. Nothing to dislike.
- Fadeela (8/5): Very good -
- Jason (10/5): A peaceful and refreshing getaway surrounded by natural beauty—Cherbury Lodge was the perfect place to relax and unwind. - Cherbury Lodge is a truly beautiful farmstead surrounded by nature and stunning views of the Winterton countryside. The peaceful atmosphere, well-kept gardens, and charming character of the property make it the perfect escape from city life. The rooms are incredibly comfortable, and everything about the place feels warm, welcoming, and well thought out. It’s a real gem and a perfect spot to relax and recharge. Mud never hurt anyone but if you’re fussy it can potentially get a little muddy but we had no problems.
- Andre (7/5): Good -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ngaire (8/5): Very good -
- Wendy (8/5): Very good -
- Anton (8/5): Very good - The room is vary spacious and comfy.
I love the wooden plank floor.
The bathroom is to die for. Spacious and very clean. The bed is nearly a queen but I suggest the the matrass need to be replaced.
- Cheryl (9/5): Beautiful setting on a farm, peaceful, with lovely views. - Lovely location close to Drakensburg. Peaceful, with lots of bird life. Rooms were spacious, comfy and well equipped. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

- Sipho (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nneheng (8/5): Superb getaway place - The location is like 3km or 5km from town in a farm, such a quite and peacefully place to stay. Nothing in particular it was like my own home
- Sipho (8/5): Superb - The location is perfect and peaceful No TV in the room
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mabaso (7/5): Good - Tranquil location Nothinh
- James (8/5): Very good -
- John (8/5): Peaceful and quiete. We enjoyed our stay. - Not applicable Could not load wi-fi.
Would like parking closer to room. A bit far to walk up and down with luggage especially for older persons.
- Johan (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (9/5): Superb -
- Liaane (9/5): Comfortable unit on a working farm - Comfortable stay on a working farm 4km outside Winterton. Spa bath and shower in a spacious bathroom. The down duvet was a winner in winter. We awoke to bird song in the morning. Facilities include a braai and outside seating with a lovely view. It met our needs, no complaints
- Simone (10/5): Exceptional - It was a very lovely and calm place. The bed was so cozy and we we were offered a heater for the cold nights. The owner provided us with a lot of useful information before we arrived and took care of our requests immediately.
- Mapule (5/5): Passable - room and bathroom perfect there was no out side lights, I had to use my cell phone torch while braaing outside
- Tracy (8/5): Very good - Farm atmosphere Creaky floor board
- Pelser. (10/5): Exceptional - The farm
- Alison (5/5): Passable - Good instructions on how to get in.A woman going off work kindly helped us with our luggage .Room was clean, bed was warm, the bathroom good. Lovely bar of local chocolate thank you. No TV,no heater, bathroom heater didn't work. Not a soul to be seen. It's quite a way to cart stuff to room 2. For self catering there were not really sufficient cooking facilities. The kettle toaster and microwave are all squashed onto one table leaving very little space for anything else. No information on restaurants No history of the farm or area.A rather lonely spot.
- Roger (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (4/5): Disappointing - Self catering with no stove. The wooden floor was lifting in places and was a tripping hazard. The wooden Skirting on the walls was loose. Toilet leaks. The noise carries from unit to unit so privacy is an issue
- Aj (9/5): Superb -
- Grant (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bianca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nene (7/5): We both enjoyed ourselves and we'll might come back. - The scenery view of the Drakensberg Mountain. Dinng room light not working and room had no heater.
- Yolanda (10/5): We had a lovely stay. Big fire to sit around and enjoy the moon and stars. You feel like you on a farm. - Very clean . All you need is in the rooms.
- Zama (7/5): Was excellent - Peace Location
- Sanele (6/5): It’s so peaceful place to be and the fact that it’s a located on farm is 🤩 -
- Kerrylynn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Quite, clean and easy. Parking was far from room.
- Bheka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Van (10/5): Exceptional - I loved the rural and relaxed atmosphere. The privacy was also excellent. A very good place to unwind and enjoy life being wholesome and uncomplicated.
- Jennifer (10/5): Beautiful location. - The location was great - on the farm.
Peaceful, relaxing and quiet.
Chenel & her staff were friendly and helpful. Everything' was great.
- Mofokeng (10/5): It was quite via safe at the cherbury, I really enjoy - Self catering It was fantastic to stay at cherbury
- Erick (8/5): Very good - It was good, but without a TV it becomes boring
- Andrew (9/5): Absolutely fantastic...will stay there again - Everything. Quiet. Very well equipped room. Very good access control. Covered parking. Nice bath. The owner went out of her way to communicate with us. Gave directions by whatsapp. Offered shopping advice. She was brilliant. Would recommend her place Nothing. One tiny thing...leave some ice in the freezer. But not an issue. It's a suggestion...not a complaint 😀
- Rudiger (9/5): Enyoyable free day close to the Drakensberg Mountains - quiet room, spacious, everything available, tea, coffee and even cereals, very good communication and information from the hosts, only 5 km from Winterton on tar road, accessible by Sedan Vehicle. It is an excellent place to stay and relax on a quiet farm, I can fully recommend it no pathway to the self catering room, luggage needs to be carried over the lawn
- Mbambo (10/5): Exceptional - Clean,quietly and peaceful NON
- Errol (8/5): Lovely Farm Stay Experience -
- Van (10/5): Affordable and pleasant stay over. A place not to be missed. - The spa bath was a bonus after a week touring and where only showers were available. The owner went out of their way to accommodate us with extra requirements i.e. power for small fridge. Owner very responsive on whatsapp.
- Pierre (7/5): A good country getaway. - Lovely farm stopover, with free access to walk the farm and admire the cows and birds. Big distance to carry suitcases and cooler boxes, from the parking area to the room.
- Subashini (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (10/5): Very efficient and well run. -
- Antoinette (9/5): Superb - The chocolate on the bed was a very nice touch.
- Rowan (8/5): Very good - The room was comfy and clean. There was a beautiful garden in which to sit and enjoy the birdlife. The spa bath was great. We only stayed one night, but i would definitely go back again.
- Phadimane (6/5): Let the property put a sign of the name for directions - No noise. The property has no name sign on the gate and I had to endue going round in circles in search of the property. I came to the gate on two occasions and had to leave because I was not sure if that was the correct place, and my calls were not answered. I had to spent two hours in town not sure of my next move when at last I received a message from the property to confirm the location
- Fabiobezerra (10/5): Best cost benefit in Winterton! - Chanel made sure we were comfortable in every possible way!
The room and the property look just like the pictures. A comfortable and very spacious ensuite in a farm house, with its own separate entrance, and mountain view.
The property is a short 5min drive outside Winterton, which is not far, and allows for more immersion in the country atmosphere.
This was a short hiking trip for us and Chanel was kind enough to prepare a delicious breakfast as an extra service.
She also provided great suggestions for hiking trails, restaurants and services around!
Best decision we made on this trip! Nothing. The room had all (and beyond) amenities one could expect and was really clean and well maintained.
- Armand (8/5): Very good - Issue with the floorboards
Parking bit remote
- Anton (9/5): Clean, comfortable country escape -
- Liesa (9/5): Superb - Although it was cold outside, the unit was warm and cosy. Beautiful wooden floors. I enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. My Border Collie enjoyed the spacious grounds around the house.
Overall, clean, neat and welcoming.
- Brits (5/5): Stay was fine - No Breakfast was served or offered, location a bit difficult to find, no sign board was visable Hospitality
- Josinda (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful and peaceful, absolutely loved the 🛁
- Tony (8/5): Very good - Very nice friendly staff and owner. Clean and very thoughtful with all the little touches.
Would stay there again.
- Julia (8/5): Farm stay - Beautiful, peaceful setting within the owners' farm. The owners we're very friendly and efficient. This is a new venture for the owners, they did ask for feedback, and I'm sure they will of taken it on board, nothing major that would prevent us staying again but a few little tweaks would of improved our stay. Ie shut the windows before the rooms fill with mozzies.
