- Ella (9/5): Very good location, amazing onsen, clean facility - Very clean Slight smell of mold but it normal for Japan
- Andri (3/5): Wasn’t worth the price and online reviews are not truthful. - Onsen was big and good. The garden is beautiful. Unhelpful staff, almost no one speaks English. Hotel tries to sell you so many things, it feels uncomfortable.

- Zonk (10/5): - Very nice hotel, amazing garden with waterfall, amazing Onsen and you can wear a yukata for free. I recomend it
- Ayagoz (10/5): - All listed amenities were amazing + having free kimono and yukata to wear was really nice bonus)

- Louise (8/5): Great good value stay - Great public onsen, convenient location, buffet ok - plenty of food.
- CHIH YUN (9/5):
- Patrick (7/5): A unique experience, but you have to double click on what it is exactly. - It’s a unique experience. People walk in yakata’s in the whole hotel. No showers in hotel room and I have tattoo’s which are not allowed in the onsen.
- TOMONORI (10/5): -
- SAMUEL (8/5): It was a true experience, our reservation was for the Japanese room but the hotel staff was very nice to accommodate us - Great location, love the Onsen experience. Very few people speak English
- Tseng (9/5): -
L'habitació d'estil japonesa molt bonia i àmplia.
- Seika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yifat (8/5): Very good -
- Tracey (10/5): Nice fairly lux stay before heading back to Tokyo. The onsen was great too. - The service, we got dinner and breakfast included and it was well worth it. We got the bus from HAkone-Yumato and had to walk down a steep hill to get there. Should have got the shuttle or a taxi.
- Douglas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Archie (7/5): Good -
- Jodie (10/5): Worth every dollar for a full ryokan experience - Amazing ryokan that is a short walk from the station. It is uphill on the way to the hotel so would not recommend with lots of luggage
The facilities were great with spectacular views. the buffet dinner and breakfast was good quality with lots of variety. Definitely worth a visit. Staff were friendly and helpful. We got the private onsen room which was perfect to avoid crowds. Can’t wait to stay again Breakfast was a bit restricted we had to eat between 7-845 so not much time to work around. Was a bit challenging with kids
- Kelly (1/5): Bad -
- Kathleen (5/5): Passable -
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- Dominik (9/5): Superb -
- Chuying (9/5): Nice, clean and comfortable hotel with hot spring - Nice, clean and comfortable hotel with hot spring. The breakfast is super great. The view in the garden is amazing. it's 15-min from the station of Hakone Yomoto.
- Derek (8/5): Very good -
- Ting-wei (8/5): Well stay, relax. - Onsen was almost 24hrs open
The buffet was good Cause I there’s no restaurants nearby so I ask if my plans included dinner in message, but I didn’t get the reply before my way there — and not even after. I’m sure there’s sufficient time for them to reply cause it was like two weeks before we were there. However, I got nothing.
- Ian (7/5): Good - Its a long walk inside. Breakfast tables were hard to get
- Gladys (7/5): Good - food is good and nice surroundings Not enough staff when help is needed. It would be good if staff know more English to help better communication
Thanks
- Jun (10/5): The best stay for my Japan trip, and makes other hotel experience pale in comparison - Clean, well maintained, good facilities A bit far to walk from the main train station, but it’s manageable.
- Cam (8/5): Very good - Great service, location, food and an amazing onsen! Would stay again and would definitely recommend. Rooms were very small. No laundry facilities at the hotel or Hakone.
- Rui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elsa (9/5): Great hotel with plenty of outdoor onsen options - Nice onsen hotel with plenty of outdoor onsen options. 24 hours gift shop and nice garden to walk around after buffet dinner. Different choices of outdoor Onsen to experience
- Benji (9/5): Superb -
- Kahlia (10/5): Relaxing - In a great location, buffet dinner was lovely, room and private outdoor bath was wonderful.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karl (5/5): Passable - The Onsen was nice. We enjoyed the private booth during breakfast and dinner on the 2nd day. The tempura was hot and fresh. The service level by the manager at the front desk was indifferent. The check-in lines were very long. Our shoes were put in a locker and we had to wear only socks throughout our stay. I wish we were provided with house slippers as the socks became very dirty. Walking in socks over the hardwood floors was painful on our weary feet after a long day of walking. The quality and selection of food was not up to par for the price we paid. The location was inconvenient, which was a long walk from the nearest bus stop (over a bridge and up a hill.) Taxi service was non-existent. You had to call for service from a taxi phone which did not guarantee timely service. Also shuttle service to the station was not offered so it made you feel stranded and stressed. Overall, a very uncomfortable and incovenient stay.
- Cordula (7/5): Good - All the processes are well organized and English translations are available. The location is very nice close to a waterfall and a small shrine with a beautiful garden behind the hotel. The buffets for dinner and breakfast are really big and offer a huge variety. It is a big hotel that is apparently a popular weekend destination and is visited by bigger groups of tourists. The good thing is all processes are "optimized" to handly large crowds ... the bad thing is: large number of guests :-) many tourist groups are staying at the hotel.
- Raghad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Fiddygig (10/5): Exceptional - Onsen Onsen Onsen The Japanese style room was very small.
- Amy (10/5): excellent - that was great. I enjoy it.
- Elvy (10/5): Exceptional service and great customer care - Cleanliness and helpful staffs
- Claire (10/5): Experience beautiful nature and comfortable Japanese-style hotel - The gardens and waterfall were magnificent. The room was clean and comfortable. Every employee was helpful. The rooftop onsen was absolutely wonderful; with baths inside and outside. The area is beautiful, and the buffet had many options.
- Dan (7/5): Hot spring is very good - environment, garden. Staffs Dinner and breakfast buffet is exactly same every day, we stay two nights three days, get tired on all the same foods
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Hot Spring was awesome Staff a limited on English but using translation app works well
- Chen (9/5): Superb - Staff was so helpful!!! Breakfast and dinner are delicious!
- Putri (10/5): Helpful staff, nice scenery, nice facilities. 10/10 would recommend! - Here for solo travelling as a female, first time staying at a ryokan. Although English communication is rather limited, staffs are very helpful -- they really tried their best to help and explain how things work there. Location was a bit far from the Hakone-Yumoto station, so if you are planning to stay here, I would suggest to pack light! Otherwise prepare to lug your suitcases up and down hill.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kenneth (7/5): Good -
- Yu (8/5): Fantastic 1st onsen trip, couldnt have picked a better place for a well-rounded experience (public and private baths ava - Fantastic amenities, great experience with something for everyone Bedding was old and worn out
- Alice (10/5): We loved our stay at Tenseien and would recommend to other travelers if visiting Hakone. - We liked every thing at Tenseien. The staffs were great, very polite, friendly and helpful. The service was exceptional. Our room with a sitting area, 1.5 bathroom and an open aired bath was spacious and comfortable. We loved the roof top onsens and the garden. The whole place was just so beautiful. We enjoyed the garden, the pond and the waterfalls. The hotel was very clean. The restaurant served buffet breakfast and dinner with varieties of food choices for everyone. It’s only 15 to 20 minutes walk to town and train station. Wish there were options for Kaiseki dinner
- Rtravel (9/5): Superb - Nice little mountain park of the hotel, stamps to collect for the kids, onsen open until after midnight. Super breakfast and dinner buffet.
All in all still fantastic. Toilet looked clean but still smelled. I fixed that by wiping the hidden places myself. At breakfast/dinner, the smell of oil was pungent and clothes then smelled of it.
- Antony (9/5): Superb -
- Angelina (7/5): Good -
- Beau (7/5): Good -
- Kam (10/5): Exceptional - The amenities were better than expected A little far from train station
- Thijs (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pramesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (8/5): A great stay. - Excellent location and great onsen facilities. Initially the hotel did not provide vegetarian options, however after an initial discussion the hotel provided some wonderful dishes cooked freshly by their chef.
- Geraldine (10/5): Excellent hotel for family and relaxation! - We like the private air bath, spacious and clean room, delicious food and the beautiful view in the hotel surroundings. Staff are very helpful and have assisted us with our lost item even after checkout. Our family have an amazing Onsen experience. the ability to book more than one spa services in a day
- Katarzyna (7/5): Would not stay at this hotel again. - Nice surroundings near the river.
A lot of food options at breakfast. Access to tea facilities at all times.
Kimono included in the price of the room. The hotel is slightly dated, located about 15 min by foot from the train station. The ryokan type of accommodation is overrated. The room is so small that I was unable to place my suitcase anywhere. Futon mattresses uncomfortable. Bathing is happening away from your room at the top floor of the hotel together with a hundred other guests naked in an open space. Staff was not friendly and hardly spoke any English.
