• Jessica (10/5): A Stunning Property with Exceptional Service and Excellent Food - This property is stunning, with beautiful gardens and a spa on the hilltop. We especially loved the herbal garden, and the food was amazing. The room decor was very tasteful, and the location was also very convenient. Most importantly, the staff were wonderful. Although they do not normally serve cocktails, the sommelier was kind enough to prepare two cocktails for us upon request. Nothing. If I need to pick an area of improvement, the champagne selection was mostly demi-sec. We would have appreciated having more extra brut options available on the drink menu.

Tho meals had alot of veg it wasn’t boring. The dressing and marinades were excellent . The meats were great too. Chef tashi is really amiable guy and took time to show us the farm . His food is amazing ! The dining staff were all v friendly and experienced. Had nice wines sake pairing . Room was v spacious and beautiful w the private onsen . Dinner was amazing, especially love the welcoming appetiser served at the greenhouse. All dishes are so well cooked and like a piece of art. The breakfast on next morning was superb!! You don’t expect an inclusive breakfast would be served in such a high level. Their home made cereal is the best! Thank you chef and all the staffs at Enowa. We had the best time here :) We loved everything here!

Hotel arranged a connecting room to us. Staff are very helpful & attentive. I didn’t know the restaurant is a 2 Michelin stars until arrived. The chef serves very good food from farm to table. Although most are vegetables but very delicious. No other facilities. Can only enjoy the hotel room.

Everyone knew me and catered to every need at any second. I only stayed for one day. However, if I had stayed longer I could see the repetitiveness of the property and the meals. There are no activities there, the menu is set and focused on vegetables.

We ate at quite a few michelin star restaurants so far and the dinner by Tashi Gyamtso was at the same level (if not better). On the next day, we were invited to tour their farm. This was an awesome experience since Tashi explained every detail and gave us some stories and background information. We also tried a few of their produce. Sadly the spa was not opened yet and the hilltop sauna requires a reservation and costs extra (and not too little... This should be included in the price at a 5 star hotel).

• Joe (10/5): Tranquil contemporary luxury and nature are the setting, + Asia’s best 5-star farm to table dining! - The food for every dinner and breakfast is an absolute masterpiece of culinary art and design! Chef Tashi Gyamtso, I think it is fair to say, is one of Asia’s most brilliant chefs in the farm-to table movement. Dinner will last for hours but you will never be bored. Each course is thoughtfully presented with amazing attention to detail and perfect service from kind and attentive staff. The focus is on healthy local vegetables and fruits from their own farm and the region, and Oita’s best local fresh fish and seafoods. The property is an outstanding example of contemporary architecture and design set in nature with every detail that you could imagine perfectly coordinated. For people who like being in the center of town the location may seem a bit remote, but the staff is always happy to drive you into town and plan to pick you up. Quite frankly, this is the place for people who want to get away from the crowd and relax and enjoy the restorative environment! The site is tucked into some moderately steep hillside pathways so might be a bit difficult for some with mobility issues to navigate, although the staff is always ready with a golf cart at a moments notice.

• Agnes (10/5): great foodie spot for a healing and relaxing break - I arrived in Fukuoka on a day where almost 500 flights were cancelled back at home due to typhoon Saola, so getting to Enowa Yufuin was such a gift and blessing. Style. Contemporary, minimalist & elegant hotel with an art gallery aesthetic Setting. Calming little spot near Mount Yufu, yet only 5 minutes drive away from downtown Explore. Wander pretty Yufuin downtown for cute shops & food, the Kengo Kuma Comico Art Museum. Beppu is a 30 minutes drive away Rooms. My room (202) had a semi outdoor hot spring which I soaked in while listening to the rustling of leaves, it wasn’t quite as hot as I would like but maybe they dialed down the temperature because of me. There was an unexpected and calming rock plant in the sleek room. @ the hotel. Tranquil vibe. Sustainably minded amenities, no single use plastics. Loved the super thoughtful staff here too. Food & drinks @ Restaurant Jimgu. A beautiful, creative, & whimsical farm driven tasting menu served on exquisite tableware, paired with interesting sake, wine & etc picked by Makoto Tominaga, even peppermint tea was above par as were from freshly plucked leaves. Friendly & talented Tashi Gyamtso is a fantastic chef with Blue Hill @ Stone Barns & Kikunoi Honten pedigree Prices. Not cheap @ $947 for entry level rooms to $2400 for pool villa but price did include the fabulous and delicious dinner experience Rating. 5/5 I’ve stayed in 3 hotels in nearby Beppu before but if I am ever in this area again, coming back here is a no brainer ! my private hot spring was not hot enough
