- PB-Work (3/5): Poorly maintained property - not value for money - It was close to the business venue. The bed was comfortable. I did not stay there very long The driveway had clutter and old white goods stuffed in the corner - good start. The property was habitable - just. The Bathroom was shared. The rain shower head spurted out more water from the pipe connection to the shower head than it dispensed. I would not have made a cup of tea in the owner's kitchen. The windows were old, ill fitting and metal framed. The gate and pathway to the house were old and unkempt - bad first impression. The price £90pp did not include breakfast and delivered very little indeed. The sink in the cloakroom need a good clean. Not recommended - we left first thing - never saw the owner on departure. My colleague who arrived about 30 mins after me never saw him at all.
- Falco (10/5): - Steve was an amazing guy and a great host. We were welcomed with a free beer and great hospitality. The bed was really comfortable and clean. We had access to a very tidy bathroom. If we had any special request Steve was more than ready to help us out.
Steve thank you for everything and we hope we get the chance to book with you again in the future, from your Dutch friends.
- Kate (9/5): Friendly, relaxed, comfortable and clean - Family style, relaxed and friendly. Very clean and well situated. Everyone we met in Wool was lovely and it’s a beautiful area.
Steve was great, gauged brilliantly when to engage - makes a fab cuppa and gives excellent local recommendations. The pavement at the front is narrow and slippery- better to walk in the road.
- Simon (8/5): historically well informed host made for a fascinating overnight stay. - Host was great to chat too. handy to station location and very comfortable. better directions on where to find location in the dark.
- George (10/5): - The host went above and beyond, I am so grateful and happy with this accomodation. I highly recommend booking here.
- Michelle (1/5): Horrendous...yelled at, sworn at, paid cash to owner - Somewhat close to sites, kitchen available. RUN AWAY…There are not enough negative stars to express the HORRENDOUS experience we had. We were yelled at, sworn at, accused, blamed, insulted, and we paid $70 cash to calm the owner. The sheets and bedding was likely 20+ years old and had stains all over them. The furniture and amenities were grimy and outdated.
We booked this location because it appeared that we were booking the entire apartment - it stated there was a kitchen and showed pictures of a kitchen table, a sofa and other amenities. The description gave us NO indication that we were booking a single room in the house and that we would share one bathroom, kitchen and other space with not only 2 other groups, but the owner as well. YOU ARE BOOKING ONE ROOM WITH ALL OTHER SHARED SPACE.
When we made mention that the description gave no indication that this was shared space, he quickly told us we were liars.
The owner threatened that he put his van behind our car so that we couldn't leave until we gave him what he wanted. We had 3 in our group and he was irate, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt that he was drunk, but he was in no position to be a host for anyone or anything.
While in the kitchen cooking some dinner, the owner angrily asked, “how much longer are you going to be in here stinking up the place for my other guests.” He asked again very quickly without giving time for a response and then went into a rage. He began to yell, swear, accuse us, blame us for his anger, insult our nationality, told us we were liars and that he couldn’t trust us. He repeated these offenses over and over multiple times.
Worst place to stay...we locked ourselves in our room, locked the windows (even though it was hot in the room) and prayed for morning to come so that we could quietly leave this terrible place.
RUN AWAY...I cannot express that enough. RUN AWAY.
- Ed (1/5): Beware of Pets & Mould. - Took 1 Look At The Property & Accommodation, & Promptly Left & Did Not Return. No Mention On Booking.com Of Any Pet’s allowed To Roam Freely Within The Property.

- Neil (8/5): Steve is a great host, the stay is more traditional B&B than Guest House or Hotel, shared bathroom and kitchen area, - Location and rustic nature. Shared bathroom
- Carol (7/5): Lovely, pleasant and friendly. - Steve was lovely, and the location was nice. A little dated and in need of updating. Although Steve is working through a long list of jobs, whilst changing beds etc.
- Agnieszka (6/5): - Gospdaz bardzo milly ,gościnny. Dom jest czysty zadbany.
- Dominic (10/5): Perfect for us - Steve the owner, lovely guy, very easy going. Nice location, perfect for us.
Because my wife is in a wheelchair, Steve is now thinking what more can I do for people in wheelchairs, which is very considerate N/A
- Nick (8/5): Good value, good location, good host - Host was very friendly and hospitable. Bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. Location was excellent for exploring local areas and there were two pubs close by-one within easy walking distance and the other just a short drive away. Didn't actually realise it was someone's house when booking, but this wasn't an issue once we realised. Only real bug bear was the fact that it was a communal bathroom.
- Lloyd (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Barbeler (10/5): Exceptional - Steven was very helpful and accomodating. Unfortunately we did not have much time to use the facilities or explore the village and surrounds/
- Bartlomiej (8/5): Would stay again. - Owner Steve is very welcoming & accommodating. You can stay there with your dog. It's not a prime location but it's peaceful & quiet.
- Ingham (3/5): Lesson learnt check reviews, this is sold as an apartment but basically you have a room in someone’s house . - I was in the garden room and it was clean , bedding felt fresh . As a solo female even though Steve was friendly I didn’t feel comfortable and the smell of dog was over powering.
- Alan (10/5): Excellent - It is a very nice place to stay.
Our host Steve was friendly and entertaining 10/10 Steve well done.
Not far from train station/ bus stop and shops Everything was good
- Peter (5/5): Passable -
- Tabassum (10/5): Exceptional -
- Beth (7/5): Good - We had a comfortable night’s sleep. Steve was accommodating. The garden room is at the end of the corridor and directly next to the bathroom, giving a sense of privacy despite the house being shared with the host and other guests. The room had a slightly stale smell to it.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Junell (8/5): Very good -
- Leena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pouravi (9/5): Superb -
- Karen (8/5): Overall the place was exactly what we needed for a one night stay to be close to a friend. Would recommend to others if - Good location, clean and comfortable and a friendly host Hadn’t fully appreciated that the rooms were part of host’s house. If you want full privacy , it may not be place for you.
- Stephen (7/5): Host was very friendly and welcoming -
- Arthur (4/5): Steve is a interesting guy and I hope his efforts to get his B&B going go well. - location near Tank Museum is major selling point, plus Steve gave us a lift, which was very kind of him.
Steve was a good host and we enjoyd some time with him talking life and family stories Opps, dog shit on grounds, made a mess of our shoes. Dog was a bit loud and needs some better manners
plus was not aware there was no breakfast until we checked in
- Asena (10/5): Would definitely be back. - It was to our liking ... had a calm and peaceful vibe. Just what we needed.
- Liu (7/5): Good - The host provided good conversation!
- Frantisek (10/5): Steve, the host is an amazing soul with a lovely dog, Poppy. I hope to come again! - Everything! Also, the location to Tank Museum in Bovington was great.
- Brian (8/5): Enjoyed a pleasant stay with Steve & Poppy (that's the dog). - Cafe just up the road for breakfast. Good local pubs.
- Agnes (1/5): Bad -
- Miranda (10/5): Clean, comfortable, and friendly - Lancresse is extremely clean - my room and the bathroom were exceptionally clean, tidy, and comfortable. The property is very quiet (even though it's next to the train tracks!), and the host, Steve, is very friendly. He was easy to talk to and extremely patient with me when I checked in 2.5 hours later than I was originally supposed to. Very kind, compassionate, friendly, and easy to get along with.
- Bruno (10/5): I do recommend this stay. - Great accomodation! Steve is an awesome host. Very friendly and makes you feel like you're in your house. He is a musician and played a song for us - a memory that I'll take with me for ever. And he even gave us a ride to a museum nearby. What an incredible guy! The room we booked is cozy, clean and has a nice view to the garden. Bathroom was also nice and clean and with a good shower. Nothing to state here.
- Alison (8/5): Very good - Very friendly helpful
host Place perfect for what we needed the night before the Half iron man in Weymouth Nothing
- Lucie (8/5): Good value for money - The rooms are located in a bungalow surrounded by garden, I stayed in the 'Garden Room' with nice views of the greenery. Steve (Sunny) the owner is very welcoming, and his dog Poppy (Weimaraner) is very friendly too. Me and my dog have both been made to feel very welcome. Don't expect full English here and all the bells and whistles of luxury hotels, but if a relaxing stay and good value for money is what you are after, then I would heartily recommend Lancresse.
- Lewis (8/5): Steve was very helpful and accommodating, made me feel right at home, really nice chap - Steve is a great guy and he has a lovely dog Nothing
- Richard (10/5): Thank you for a wonderful stay, it will be my first search when looking for somewhere to stay in the future - Quiet and relaxing, good location for everything I needed in the area
- Damian (10/5): Excellent. Needed a good nights rest after walking 8 miles touring the Tank Museum - The owner is very interesting and a great conversationalist. He recommended a great pub just down the road and I really enjoyed just chatting with him on various topics. He also knows of a shortcut across the field to the Tank Museum which will cut the walk in half.
- Tracy (9/5): Superb -
- Rupinder (9/5): Superb -
- Donna (8/5): Welcoming host and friendly dog 😊 - We were made to feel incredibly welcome by the homeowner. Very friendly. Property was very quiet, though next to a train line I only noticed it once later at night and once in the morning. I like dogs but if you don’t this isn’t the place for you Nothing
- Kreig (9/5): A country residence located in a pleasant setting that's just a bit out-of-the-way. - I liked the Lancresse's location as I was travelling by foot; it's a 10-15 min. walk from the WOO rail station, and a 30+ min. pastoral walk to my main destination (The Tank Museum). Walking into the village for dinner was also not a problem.
The host is also very helpful and considerate. Really, nothing. I suggest, respectfully, that some attention be paid to the shower head in the guest bathroom as it could use some adjustment to water flow.
- Kent (7/5): Secluded and off the beaten track - Steve was very friendly and pleasant. The room was clean and the shared bathroom was modern and up to date. The accommodation was very secluded from the road and surrounding neighbours. There was a pleasant garden. It is was one of the few places in the area that accepted a dog. Poppy the owners dog was very friendly. The building is obviously undergoing some repairs/ modifications. There wasn't any shower gel/soap or bathmats in the shower however towels were provided. The tea and coffee facilities were only via use of the kitchen and not in the rooms as was inferred in the description.
- Brian (8/5): Very relaxing location, caring and helpful host. - Staying in Sunny's house was a pleasure, very relaxing and a lovely garden for my 2 dogs to play and run around in. Sunny was very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Although there is some work to do, being a one man band will take time and improvements are being made all the time. His dog Poppy was so friendly and became very frieldly with my male dog. Great to see a 13 Yr old weimerana acting like a puppy!! A bit of trouble finding the location, but within the day, a sign with the house name was in place. This is a small example of the way which Sunny is making continual improvements.
- Wondergem (6/5): Pleasant -

- Paul (9/5): Clean and quiet stay in a village location. - Peaceful location. Comfortable bed. Welcoming beer on arrival!
- Charlie (6/5): Good stay , interesting host , - Steve very interesting host and good location for Bovington Tank museum. Bedroom lovely with comfy satin linen. Good pub 5 minutes walk away Friendly dog , unfortunately a bit smelly. House is just a bit rundown .
- Angus (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (8/5): Very good -
- Tony (7/5): Quiet location - Quiet location & nice garden
- John (7/5): Good - Very difficult to find this bungalow being renovated. No 'hotel' sign. No lock on bedroom door. Property overgrown. Owner Steve of a 1960s hippy appearance is a very nice gentle guy. Interesting to talk to and very hard working.
Good luck to him turning his home into a guesthouse. I will pop in for a chat when in the area.
- Reynolds (8/5): It was very nice and we wish Steve all the best with his property renovations. - Steve the host was very friendly and helpful, couldn't do enough to make us welcome. we had a nice room that overlooked the garden and was nice and quiet.
- Chris (7/5): Good - Great location for the tank museum and monkey world.
Clean bedroom with a very comfortable bed .
Bathroom was very good with a powerful shower.
Friendly, helpful host. Kitchen in need of a makeover.
- Bates (8/5): Very good -
- Matt (9/5): A pleasure - Lovely place to stay with a nice garden to relax in.
Host is an absolute star and makes you feel right at home.
Booking again next year for a break as a result of the the warm welcome and accomodation. Nothing notable.
- Saphina (8/5): Very good - The room was clean, bed super comfy, toilet facilities was clean and fit for purpose. Could be hard to locate
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Friendly reception and conversation. We were surprised to be told on arrival that breakfast was not included but it was possible to reach a compromise and we didn't leave hungry!
- Tony (9/5): Superb -
- Joel (9/5): VERY Nice, we’ll comeback - The location is excellent, the host is very nice, and his dog poppy gave us a good reception, it was very nice stay. The host were very accommodating, the location near the train station, If you are just walking, when you exit the train station, facing your right side, follow that direction, cross the crossing, again to your right side walk until the first bridge towards to the other side, take that bridge, then follow the direction on the left side of the street, straight to the property, about .3 mile, or just call Steve the he is very happy to give you direction
- Jenny (9/5): Characterful and enriching - This is not a conventional B&b, which is part of its charm. The bungalow has been lovingly and imaginatively renovated by the host, a musician, who instantly made us feel at home. If you’re lucky, he’ll play you a song on his guitar. It’s opposite a lovely meadow with a river and great walks. It could be easier to find!
- Caroline (10/5): clean and comfortable. - the owner was lovely and very welcoming, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was exceptionally clean. would definitely book again if i go that way again. nothing.
- Graham (8/5): Pleasant stay - The host - and poppy the dog - were very friendly and welcoming. The rooms were clean and comfortable. It's fair to say the place is unique and quirky in it's decor but certainly interesting. There was a a nice bathroom and shower and and extra loo outside of the bedrooms but basically next door so although not en-suite it wasn't miles down a corridor. It did feel a little odd to me sharing someone's kitchen to make a cuppa in the morning. I think I would have felt more comfortable maybe with tea making facilities in the bedroom. However, I would stay there again if I was visiting the area.
- Suchada (10/5): Convenient walking distance from Wool station. - Not so far from Wool station. But google map took me farther than it is. Just be careful call MR. Steve first. He is a very good host, king and reliable. He will come out and pick you up. He will prepare hot water for shower and turn on heater for your room. You can drop your stuff before check in period. thumbs up! Nothing.
- Rohit (9/5): cosy and comfirtable, with a very helpful host - the proprietor, steve, is extremely friendly and helps you otu a lot. he is what makes this place special. the place is also close to the town centre, and well mainatined there isnt much to do in town
- Jane (8/5): Very relaxing. - Beautiful area and lovely host. Was allowed to arrive early and leave bags. Nothing
- Jura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (4/5): Expected lots more for £90, certainly not worth that just for a bed. - Very little Tiny room, shared bathroom, no facilities at all. No where to relax and Had to get pass large dog to use owners kitchen.
- Elia (9/5): Superb -
- Mélodie (9/5): Fantastic stay! - The property was clean, comfy bed, we could use the kitchen and ideally located just few minutes walking distance from the station and shops. Also easy access to great hiking spots. Special mention for Steve who was an incredible host! Lovely to chat to but also respectful of privacy. Steve was very helpful and didn’t even hesitate to give us a ride when we missed our bus! This made our trip! Nothing, true to the photos.
- Wise (9/5): Very friendly guy lovely dog would definitely stay there again , - It was help your self , for breakfast Not having a tv in bedroom so you can relax
- Catherine (7/5): Pleasant - We arrived at 5pm ish and went in to our room. We were met by Steve and his dog both were very friendly.
We went out for a meal and then came in and went to bed as we had a very early start. So we didnt make use of the accomodation.
Our bedroom was clean and we had a good night sleep. The shared bathroom was clean.
