• Jeff (10/5): Great location, wonderful host, fantastic part of an enthralling city - Gionkoh is in a fantastic location, right in the middle of the action. The room and lounge were generous in size for a good value ryokan. Hiro san was a great host and we loved Kyoto and especially this old section of Kyoto. This is a very affordable fantastic option.

En riktig oas, och vi som bodde i familjesviten kunde också öppna upp dörrarna mot den lilla trädgården. Värden var också väldigt hjälpsam och trevlig, och platsen var mitt i hjärtat av Gion. Kunde inte önskat mer, vi älskade att bo här!

• Nina (10/5): Gorgeous traditional inn in central location - Location was brilliantly central but on a quiet side street. Room was large enough with 3 beds in and beds comfortable. Showers and toilets close to the rooms and very clean. Kitchen was well stocked and offered the opportunity to meet other guests. The garden was a wonderful osasis of calm. Quite a bit of late night noise from the street. Might be better in a room facing the back.

The location is great and the house is beautiful and old. My 4 year old son loved every millimetre of this accommodation :) Windows are very thin and you can hear the loud tourist from outside, but nothing terrible :)

The neighborhood is classical and beautiful. And the koi fish pond garden is a pleasure to spend some downtime next to. Excellent accommodations and location. We highly recommend!

• Amy (10/5): Excellent value, friendly service, fantastic location. - Hiro met us upon arrival and got us checked in. He was so friendly and helpful throughout our stay, for example, giving us advice on where to eat and where to see the best cherry blossoms. Also he forwarded our luggage to the next hotel, which was a great service. We chose to use shared bathrooms, which was fine for us, but it's not for everyone.

• Miki (9/5): - 町家のお宿です。とても素敵な、日本的なしつらえでした。場所がとてもよく、高台寺も二年坂もすぐそこ。少し足を伸ばせば、八坂神社も徒歩圏内です。ちょうど高台寺の夜間拝観があったので便利でした。夕方5時と朝5時にお寺の鐘が鳴りましたが、いい感じでうるさくはないです。またいわゆる住宅街というか、祇園の小料理屋さんなどのある一角なので、夜は意外なほど静かてした。 ベッドはとても寝心地よく、お部屋のエアコンも快適でした。 一階に大きな鯉が泳いでいる池がある中庭と、リビング、キッチンなどあり、すべてがとてもシックで、おばあちゃんの家に遊びに来ているようでした。 こういうしつらえからか、欧米系の外国人の利用者が多い印象でした。みなさん静かに宿泊されていました。 シャワーとトイレが2つずつで、共用です。部屋にはテレビはありません。そういうのが重要な方には向かないかもです。シャワー、トイレともに他の人とかち合うことなく、不便なく使えました。

The aesthetic was so spot on especially for the chill Kyoto vibe, the space was spotless, and the bed… oh my… that bed felt like a fluffy cloud. Seriously highly recommend to anyone and everyone!! • Youan (9/5): 좋았던 위치, 전통 숙소 체험 - 일본 전통식 숙소에서 지내볼 수 있는 좋은 기회였습니다. 침대 방에서 묵었는데, 전통 다다미방에서 묵으면 더 좋았을 것 같습니다. 공용 욕실/화장실도 깔끔했습니다. 거리도 주요 관광지와 가까이에 있어서 교통도 편리했습니다. 근처에 식당이 많기는 한데, 예약 고객만 받는 경우가 꽤 있었습니다. 잘 알아보고 가셔야 할 것 같습니다. 숙박하는 인원 수 대비 공용 욕실, 화장실 숫자가 조금 부족하지 않았나 싶네요. 아침에 웨이팅이 좀 있습니다.

Spent a couple nights here in the family room with private bathroom and we had a beautiful view of the courtyard garden along with our beds, pajamas, and towels were refreshed everyday! We enjoyed our stay so much that I would love to stay at GionKoh again some day!

• Vincent (10/5): Gionkoh is a MUST STAY for your trip to Kyoto. I can not recommend it enough. - The place has captured the Kyoto machiya and is like you are transported back in time. This place is really a must stay when you go to Kyoto. The owner is a gem and is one of the nicest owners we have talked to, super friendly and beyond helpful. It is located in the best area of Kyoto and after a long day of exploring the city we found ourselves enjoying this beautiful small Ryokan and staring at the amazing koi pond that he has as the center of the rooms. The value of the stay is beyond worth it as well. My family are still talking about this magical stay, we have never stayed at a place like it, it really is a once in a life time place.

Las instalaciones súper limpias y cama cómoda, lo mejor ha sido Hiro-san con su atención y amabilidad. Nos recibió como familia y se despidió hasta el taxi! • Lindsey (10/5): Close walk to everything in Gion and extremely cozy. - So comfortable and cozy and incredibly close to Kodai-ji (3min walk) and kiyomizu-dera (10 min) temples and the famous Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka streets(5 min). The best part is that it is the hosts ancestral home and they’ve owned it for well over 100 years. They don’t know when it was built but it was many many generations ago. The futon were incredibly comfortable and we slept very well and the rooms was very spacious.

• Vannessa (8/5): Gion Koh, a great place to stay. - We loved this accommodation, the host was very welcoming, beds very comfortable, excellent location for easy access to Kyomizu dera temple, Ryozen Museum, lots of restaurants. It rained on some days but Gion Koh has umbrellas you can borrow.

Everything was clean and the shared bathroom facilities are very good. Never had to wait to use. Loved the traditional room with tatami mats and outlook over garden and koi pond. Our room was tiny. Too small for comfort in that we had to walk over the futons to get out the door which is not ideal at night. Hard to get dressed when there is no floor space so had to stand on beds. Hiro our host did fold up the beds during the day for us which was helpful. There are bigger rooms so next time we will ask for this.

The service was excellent, the bed was comfortable, and the art style never broke form. The outlet was out away from the bed limited in slots, an adaptor they had added more but it was loose and made me nervous, but this is to be expected in an old house like this.

• Amanda (10/5): A unique and beautiful place for a traditional feel and peaceful setting - The location of Gion Koh was perfect and easy to get to but also tucked away in the neighborhood to have a nice peaceful experience at night. During the day it was a great location to go wherever you needed and is surrounded by a lot of great shops and restaurants. The place was incredibly cute and comfortable and so unique that upon arrival we could not help but just want to spend a couple of hours in our room just to see the open garden and enjoy the sounds of the water and take in some peace. The staff was great and very helpful and friendly. Overall it was a great stay and I would love to stay here again anytime I go back to Kyoto and would recommend this to all of my friends and family. Nothing.

Die Küche ist perfekt ausgestattet, wir haben sie allerdings nur zum Kaffe/Tee kochen benutzt. Die Lage ist perfekt. Es gibt sehr viele Sehenswürdigkeiten fußläufig zu erreichen. Aber genauso auch Cafés fürs Frühstück und Restaurants/Bars. Der Inhaber ist sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. nichts

• Peter (9/5): Sehr authentisch und super freundlicher Gadtgeber! - Es ist das bisher einzige Hotel, dass sehr japanisch authentisch ist. Es hat keinen Luxus, und nur gemeinsame Toiletten, Duschen und Waschgelegenheiten, aber dafür fühlt man sich in der japanischen Welt, wie man sie sich vorstellt. Man Sitz auf dem Boden, man trinkt auf dem Boden und schläft auf dem Boden. Man schaut direkt auf einen japanischen Garten in tiefer Ruhe. Wer keine Gemeinschaftstoiletten mag, ist hier nicht ganz richtig.

• Elien (8/5): Authentiek verblijf centraal in het authentieke Kyoto - De locatie was werkelijk fantastisch. Je stapt buiten en zit meteen in het historische, authentieke Kyoto. Zelfs binnen was het een pareltje. De inrichting was werkelijk adembenemend en maakte het helemaal af. Hiro was supervriendelijk en hielp ons met al onze vragen. Niet twijfelen indien je wenst te verblijven in een historisch kader! We zijn ons bewust van het feit dat het een authentieke ryokan was, waardoor de kamer kleiner was en de muren flinterdun. Indien je slaapt als een roos mét geluid en mét licht moet je echt niet twijfelen. Ben je wat gevoeliger hieraan, wees je er dan van bewust.
