Laura (8/5): It's a lovely property with thoughtful touches minus the mattress and the air conditioning policy. - I liked the aesthetic of the place, the pool, the kindness and helpfulness of the Dutch family who lives there. They made the trip special. The mattress was uncomfortable and felt old. I didn't like being asked to use the air conditioning only at night. I would have preferred to be asked to use it only when in the room, if necessary. This made me feel less than welcome. I understand that energy is expensive.

B-reist (9/5): Wonderful place to stay for those appreciating uniqueness and natural surroundings - This is a great place outside the most touristic areas for anyone wanting something more than a standard resort/hotel room; the surrounding nature with lizards and birds, and a more friendly vibe, makes it a relaxing and more personal place to stay. We enjoyed it a lot - thanks to the hostess/-es and fellow guests and comforts offered. The breakfast basket content (different every day of the week) was both tasty and satisfactory, the rooms and chalets ('wagons') were unique in style and comfort. We found many spaces within the gated area in which to sit and read books, enjoy conversations with fellow travelers or alone enjoying the hummingbirds and other creatures like the pet cat and dogs living there. Several parking spaces for rental cars which is probably the most convenient, but then remember to rent a 4x4 jeep if wanting to go to some of the spectacular sights on the northern coast or in the Arikok national park e.g., Conchi natural pool - highly recommended. We however went by taxi/bus/foot/guided tour jeep safaris which worked fine with us, but may require more planning but includes local know-how (guided trips). There's an approximately 10 minutes walk to the closest bus stop, note the bus table; only one bus an hour towards Oranjestad as an example. You may access local sights on foot nearby as well, e.g., the Spanish lagoon. Don't forget to do some snorkeling whatever else you plan for; there's a great 'channel' with lots of fish variations towards Baby Beach as an example. Notes that may be of importance to some and not all: It all comes down to preferences. For more space, consider a room not a chalet, then you may also get a water boiler and a refrigerator in your room and not only in the common kitchen area if this is important to you. We were offered an upgrade to a room from a chalet, and since staying for a week, this was much appreciated. The bed was bigger and less hard in the room compared to the one we had in the chalet which had a bed more equivalent to typical ones in e.g., Italy. It depends what you are used to. However while our room was cooler in general, it had windows which could not be opened to enjoy the breeze (there are air condition at night if wanted) as the chalet had. We kept the door open, though, which proved perfectly safe to us. You may want to check your options as all rooms and chalets are different. Note the bathroom is not always completely separated from the bedroom (usually no door to be closed). Note that not all taxis/tour operators know where Mammaloe's B&B is, not even based on their address. Remember to mention nearby references as the donkey sanctuary or Frenchmen's Pass for easier navigation. On the airport, you may need to wait for taxis upon arrival, and they may also decide not to take you (we experienced this ones). I recommend to book transfer airport-B&B prior arrival to ensure a more smooth travel (but this may be slightly more expensive - depending on what the taxi driver decides to charge you; no meter in the taxi, and the taxi driver doesn't necessarily follow any fixed rates table referenced by the 'visitaruba'-site). We booked transfer on the return through booking.com without any issues.

MiguelAngel (6/5): Más hostal decorado que hotel boutique - El lugar es limpio, tranquilo y estéticamente agradable, con un concepto bien logrado y detalles decorativos cuidados. El ambiente es relajado y el personal es amable. Es una opción funcional si buscas un alojamiento sencillo y sin pretensiones. La experiencia no corresponde a un hotel boutique. El aire acondicionado está restringido durante el día, no hay agua caliente, el refrigerador no enfría y la limpieza es cada tercer día. La ubicación es en una zona residencial local, lejos de playas y puntos de interés, por lo que es indispensable contar con coche. En general, la relación calidad-precio no está alineada con lo que se ofrece.

They made us feel like we were part of a happy Mammaloe family right from the beginning. The property is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. We stayed in the bohemian gypsy wagon, it was a very comfy and unique experience. The decore was whimsical and intriguing. We just loved the entire property, it has a relaxing, cozy vibe, you feel like you're staying with family. Check-In war niemand vor Ort obwohl es Check-In Zeiten gab. Code für Anlage wurde zugeschickt aber keine Info bezüglich Unterkunft/Schlüssel. Infos fehlten wo was ist. Unsere gebuchte Unterkunft war von jemand anderem besetzt. Wir haben nicht das bekommen, was wir gebucht haben. Sehr enttäuschend. Auf Nachfrage wurde gesagt, dass es bei Booking manchmal passieren kann (noch nie zuvor erlebt). Frühstück zum Zimmer gebracht aber ohne Nachfrage, ob man etwas nicht mag. Bei Allergene und Vegi Z.B muss es im vorab gemeldet werden, jedoch wussten wir das nicht, da wir kein Info/Begrüssung hatten. Kaffe musste welbst gemacht werden, Milch hatte es aber keine. Dusche nur kaltes Wasser.

DENIS (5/5): C'est beau, mais c'est tout. - Le déjeuner La beauté du site Nous ne pouvons pas utiliser la climatisation pendant la journée lorsque nous sommes sur place sans payer une surcharge.(voir photos) Ce qui fait qu'il est impossible d'utiliser notre chambre pour nous reposer à l'abri du bruit et des moustiques et nous préparer sans suffoquer avant d'aller souper. Le site se trouve juste en dessous de la trajectoire des avions. Il n'y a pas de serviettes de plage que nous pouvons utiliser dans la chambre. (nous en avions au Coral Reef). Notre chambre était vraiment trop minuscule pour être confortable. Le site est situé très loin de tout.

Sofie (8/5): - Die Anlage ist super gepflegt und ist wirklich schön. Es gibt eine Gemeinschaftsküche im Freien, diese haben wir auch ein paar mal genutzt - sehr cool. Die kalte Dusche hat uns persönlich gar nicht gestört, es war eher angenehm. Von der Stadt aus kann man bequem und relativ einfach mit dem Bus nach Hause fahren (ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß) - in die Stadt mit dem Bus zu fahren ist eher etwas schwierig. Es gab eine sehr süße Katze, die täglich vor unserer Tür geschlafen hat. Dass man die Toilette nicht „normal“ nutzen kann, war anfangs schon eine Umstellung - man kommt mit der Zeit aber klar damit. Die Klimaanlage darf nur in der Nacht betätigt werden, ansonsten fallen zusätzliche Gebühren an (auch wenn man mal unter Tags im Zimmer ist). In den Zirkuswagen kann es dann ohne Klima schon ziemlich warm und stickig werden. Was uns persönlich noch gefehlt hat war ein besseres Licht im Bad oder ein größerer Spiegel und ein kleiner normaler Mülleimer für normale Abfälle.

The host is so lovely and goes the extra mile to make everything perfect for you. The daily breakfast options are AMAZING and the best I’ve ever seen from a place to stay There’s nothing not to like! I didn’t hire a car so the location was a tiny bit tricky but there are buses and taxis and that was my fault for not hiring a car! The staff were also lovely and gave me lifts sometimes!

La’Tristian (9/5): I loved it here and the peace of nature was everything I expected and wanted it to be. - The property was very beautiful. I loved the bright welcoming colors, that complimented the beautiful flowers and plants of nature. I wasn’t a fan of the lizards but I realize that’s nothing that can be controlled by management. I wish there was hot water to take a hot shower. Although the weather is hot, people still enjoy a hot shower.

I arrived on Saturday evening and felt a little lost upon arrival- only bc there was no staff to greet me/answer questions. They did, however, send very thorough instructions beforehand!…. My lack of data/ WiFi made checking in alone a tad anxious- but this was no fault of theirs.
Philipp (8/5): Tolles Tropisches Erlebnis - Schon beim Betreten des Hotels spürt man sofort die liebevolle Gestaltung und den stilvollen Charakter. Jedes Eck ist mit bunten Farbakzenten elegant gestaltet. Wir hatten eine eigene Hütte mit separatem Gartenbereich. Das Personal? Einfach wunderbar! Freundlich, zuvorkommend und stets mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht. Und dann die Geckos! Diese kleinen Bewohner haben dem Aufenthalt einen ganz besonderen Touch verliehen. Sie huschen leise über die Wände und bringen ein Stück tropische Lebendigkeit ins Hotel. Für mich ein charmantes Detail, das ich so noch nie erlebt habe. Eigentlich kann ich keinen groben Kritikpunkt angeben.

(Especially how they named the rooms). The vibe is really calm which made me enjoy much more the accommodation. It fits the presentation. The owners were so kind and joyful as if you have known them before. Would absolutely recommend this place and come back I didn’t have something that i didn’t like to be honest. I just had to get used to how the bathroom (toilet only) is used but it was easy. No complains

She gave us great tips on the best places to visit, which made our trip even more special. The guesthouse itself had a very special vibe, resembling a trailer park in the best way possible. It was charming, different, and full of character. I get there isn't much you can do about that.

Neil (10/5): Wonderfully helpful staff and Inspiring accommodations. Truly an island paradise. - I really enjoyed staying here. My partner and I coordinated with a friend from afar to stay here as a first time visit. We knew nothing of the property and were pleasantly surprised with our visit. The owner couple were friendly and helpful with everything from restaurant recommendations, beach recommendations, food market recommendations, taking care of personal needs, nuances to island activities and so much more. The property is absolutely inspiring with a very nice swimming pool, colorful room decor, and bright and warmly painted exterior walls throughout. Be sure to check out the story of the namesake if you don’t already know it. The layout of the rooms are not cookie cutter so don’t be shy to ask and state your needs. Our room, lavender by name, was large and had in-room shower and toilet. The room was spacious and space for our luggage and a nice refrigerator. I am a tall guy and I had plenty more than elbow room to feel comfortable in the room. One of the most unique features of the B&B was the common dining space which is covered and outdoors. You can eat in a group or find a private space to eat. Cooking and refrigerator facilities are available adjacent to the eating area with nearby grocery shopping available. We were lucky to meet new friends and cooked meals together with some nice dining and wine moments making new memories. As you can see from my photos there are lots of flowering plants around the property which confirm the tropical environment. Also the property is at a nice elevation in the area to capture the tropical breezes throughout and cool down from the heat of a sunny day all day long. We had one evening of rain which was not wasted with friends in the covered dining area, so no fun lost. There are some rules and norms to follow which are guided by island resource sustainability and conservation. You will need to understand your transportation while staying here. Nothing I didn’t like.
Marcelle (1/5): Horrible, rude, greedy and honourless woman who tried to ruin our dream holiday. Avoid this place. - Nothing, owner cancelled the booking upon arrival The owner! Reservation was made, confirmed and half paid for at the end of October for a 12 days stay for New Year’s time for a double deluxe family room. Despite communication between the property and myself prior arrival, I was never informed that my room had been downgraded to the gipsy wagon without my prior acknowledgment or approval. Upon arrival we were informed that we booked that wagon ourselves. Which is a big LIE on her part and I had the booking with pictures to prove it. (It turned out she double booked said room for us and someone else) We stated that we did not want the wagon under any circumstances , she then (very much against her will and angrily asking if that was going to be a problem) which I said it was as I wanted what I booked and paid for. A second small room with the toilet seat at an arms length from the bed was then offered. We said we would only take that if we had a reduction in price as the room was very much inferior from what we originally had. She then the decided to cancel the reservation all together. So this woman left us with no accommodation for 12 nights upon arrival over the busiest time of the year (New Year’s eve), was extremely rude and took several days to refund the money originally paid.

Coco (7/5): Bad arrival, it got better after, charming place nevertheless - I liked that the place had good energy and was done with care and warmth. I felt safe there as a solo female traveler and the lady who runs the place, after some initial rudeness, was actually nice and helped me out with some things. Friendliness & check in: The check in instructions where not clear and even though I had wrote in booking exacty when I would arrive there was no one opening the door for me when I got there. I stood in the intense hear with my luggage after a long and exhausting travel. Not a great thing. When I finally climbed over the fence, leaving my luggage outside and found the woman inside I asked her to please open the gate for me so I could get my bags. She got very snappy and ordered me to come to the reception desk for check in first so she could verify my ID. I almost lost it as my luggage was outside unprotected and the woman was just being rude, righteous and stubborn. I later 'made up' with her because I did not want this to ruin my trip but it was one of the worst arrival experiences I had at a B&B. What was additionally upsetting was that instead of apologizing she yelled at me that I should have read the check in instructions. I showed her the check in instructions I had received and the fact that I had written my arrival time into the booking chat and it still did not cause her to reflect. To me this was just very angry and defensive behavior that I don't expect from a holiday stay. -- On another note: the place is deep inland and without a car its quite impossible to get around as taxis are very expensive and slow to arrive. Keep that in mind. What I also did not like is that the blankes were polyester (ie they don't breathe, I had to sleep with a towel as blanket) and that using the AC at any time during the day is charged extra at 10$ a day. That seems scammy as when you book it says AC included. And the room gets hottt.

The atmosphere is one that everyone is comfortable, friendly, but the need for privacy is respected. So much love and care has gone into every detail. I am so happy that I came here and Mamaloe’s will be the place I would happily come back. I don’t want to leave! Nothing. I have no complaints.

Definitely better than a hotel where everything is the same in every country! - Unique, colorful, off the beaten bath, quiet but joyful, and Eddie the cat & Simba the dog who could be found to greet us! Truly loved everything. Zero complaints. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable but that’s just a personal preference.

Connie (9/5): An oasis of tranquility and bohemian vibes. - This property is very charming, the room was clean and as advertised. One of the most unique stays I have had while in Aruba. The hostess Ms. Willeke, even made us breakfasts to go since we had an early flight. Her attentiveness an friendliness made me feel right at home and I really felt a sense of tranquility while I stayed at this property. I enjoyed my stay very much, I will definitely stay here again when visiting Aruba. The property is a little far from the main tourist area, so a rental car is needed since the taxi fairs are fairly expensive. But that makes this property that much more appealing for travelers who are looking to enjoy a little nature and peace away from home.

Rellum (10/5): Memorable - I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mammaloe. We were stayin in the Roma appartment.The property was not only beautiful but also clean. What I particularly loved about this accommodation was its unique setup – it felt like a mini village, complete with cozy cottages and greenery all around. The atmosphere was tranquil and serene, perfect for a relaxing getaway. While the pool may have been on the smaller side, it was incredibly well-maintained and provided a refreshing escape from the Aruban heat. As for the room, it was spotless and decorated. They came to clean the room three times a week, ensuring it stayed clean throughout my stay. The location of the accommodation was also great, centrally located on the island of Aruba. While it was convenient to explore the island from this central point, having a car was necessary to access the attractions and beaches. The host was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our stay. She also assisted us in booking a snorkeling tour. Lastly, I appreciated the secure parking within the gated property. It provided peace of mind knowing that my rental car was safe and easily accessible whenever I needed it. Overall, my experience at this accommodation was really nice!. From the cleanliness to the friendly host and convenient location, I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable stay at Aruba Unfortunately, we had to pay an additional fee to keep the air conditioning on during the day. While this is understandable due to the high costs, we did miss some cooling in the room occasionally when we were there during the day. However, the pool provided the necessary relief.

Nils (9/5): Perfect getaway to explore Aruba. - A gem away from the resorts. We had a great time at Mammaloe’s. A super unique, chill and quiet place to relax after a day of exploring the island. Larissa is amazing and always there, if you have questions or need anything. Definitely try the homemade breakfast too!! We’d definitely stay here again! Be aware, that you’ll have to pay extra, if you want to use the ac during the day. That wasn’t a problem for us, but would be good to know ahead of time.
Gregory (8/5): 100% quirky 80% perfection - Excellent artistic quirky aesthetic of the entire property! The attached covered veranda was wonderful, and the small pool tucked away in the cactus forest was unique. There were several adorable private reading areas sprinkled through the property. I didn’t like having to put the toilet paper in the trash can, and the bed was a futon (VERY firm). Although we’ve encountered this before in rental homes on Aruba, I was surprised to discover there was no hot water for the shower, just the single valve for tepid tap water. Lastly, the floor of our room was gritty on our bare feet.
