Guest Reviews
- Sze Wun (10/5): - 環境非常舒適、整潔,餐飲亦都非常美味,服務很周到,職員很有善 露天風呂 沖涼的地方可以安排在室內
- Siu Ming (10/5): - Lots of Privacy, good food None
- Ranidu (10/5): Out of this world - The food was exceptional. Miss Riko and the entire staff treated us like family, with incredible attention to detail and service throughout our stay. The onsen water was amazing, and Gero is truly a hidden gem. I highly recommend Suihoen and Gero. We stayed in the older wing of the ryokan in a traditional tatami room, which felt slightly dated. That said, it had authentic ryokan charm, was very clean and well maintained, and we ended up loving it.

- Prudence (10/5): 10/10 hot spring getaway - Parking is available, location is easy to find driving there but quite a bit of walk from the train station. Hospitable and friendly staff with excellent service. Meals were amazing and uses local and seasonal ingredients. Very clean and newly furnished rooms available for selection. Amazing space and interior design. In-room hot spring available and feels very private as well. Nothing.
- Natalie (10/5): A truly special experience - Suihoen is excellent. The staff, rooms, food and facilities were all an extremely high quality. Staff are very helpful and family friendly, the food was outstanding with a private dining room, and the hot spring baths so relaxing. Nothing!

服務人員都很親切,且英文很厲害
冰箱內的啤酒及飲料很有誠意 空調設備及部分設備看起來有些年紀、但其實維護得算不錯
茶包數量有點少,只有兩包

We enjoy the private onsen in room and the room is spacious. The beautiful garden within the property is well maintain and the surrounding is quiet and peaceful. Parking is available onsite so excellent for self drive.

- Lay (10/5): Lovely stay and great food - Dinner was very yummy & of good quality. It's one of the best meals on our trip. Staff very friendly and personable. It's about 10min walk to town centre but we like the quieter environment and the fact that the ryokan is clean and modern looking compared to the town centre which has many hotels but look rather old. Nothing
- Kim (10/5): Great experience - restful, relaxing and pampered - Excellent Meals
Good location - great views of the mountains None
- Uyen (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful accomodation, modern, spacious, so clean. Food was exquisite. Staff were so friendly and helpful. We had a great experience (our favourite accomodation in Japan, and wish we stayed two nights instead of one!). Room was beautiful with two private onsens where you can adjust the heat! We definetly will stay here again on our next trip! Thank you!
- Bich (9/5): Superb -
- Erwin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chou (10/5): It was a relaxing and peaceful stay with Suihoen, and will return again in the future! - With a bit of age but maintained exceptionally well! Staff were super friendly and helpful. The public onsen can be slightly bigger if possible but we had our own private tub in our room that was ultra spacious and comfortable.
- Kiwon (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast and dinner served were one of the best I have had in my many, ⁹traveling of the world best hotels.
- Grayson (10/5): Amazing and authentic experience - We had an amazing stay. Our room was beautiful, clean, and well appointed. The staff were so friendly and accommodating to our English speaking. The food was incredible and authentic, we were stuffed! We felt very spoiled by this hotel, we stayed here during our honeymoon and they presented us with a gift and even took a commemorative photo which is now hanging in our house. We loved our stay here so much and hope to return some day. Nothing to dislike!
- You (9/5): Superb -
- Yan (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were exceptionally friendly and it was surprising that many of them spoke a degree of English.

- Yi (10/5): Best Ryokan In JP - Love the service , staff come out to help us with luggage, explained the room facilities, the yukata wearing, the property facilities and onsens. The room was exceptional, it came with a massage chair , private in room onsens (indoor and outdoor) , two comfy beds and two tatamis for our family of 4 , breakfast and dinner was great too! Delicious and great service! Appreciate the relaxing stay in Suihoen! Highly reccomend ! Is the best ryokan stay I have ever stayed in JP so far! Oh and it came w free alcohol and drinks in room fridge , coffee and tea too ! Nothing! Is perfect get away stay
- Veronica (9/5): Excellent - Exceptional Japanese experience Very traditional Japanese. Amazing service. Many spoke English. Very helpful
- Aniesdora (10/5): Will recommend this place to others - Lovely accommodation. The food is truly magnificent. I am still missing it. It is also next to an open-air museum. The location is a bit far from the town area. You need to have your own vehicle to get there.
- Yee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mateo (10/5): VERY wide room, GREAT food and nice service. - • Room : was VERY wide, long entrance, 2 toilets, a wide room with a dining table, TV and massage chair (also did not use both), small kitchen with drinks in fridge, one large tatami room, spacious bedroom with two double beds. You also have triple mirrors in multiple places and almost all the windows have insect net, window and wooden covers.
• Onsen : Two private onsen baths large enough to fit at least 2, maybe 3 people. The temperature is perfect! (Very warm but not to the point where you feel like burning when you get in. The onsen inside is next to the shower, and rhe one outside has a very nice view on the town and the mountains.
• Food : Dinner was Kaiseki (traditionnal japanese way of serving the food in courses in the room) and lasted about two hours with many different things ; seafood, meat, vegetables, soup, etc. If you're vegetarian or dislike seafood (there's quite a lot), I'd say fhere's still enough of other things to surely fill your stomach.
For breakfast, see the picture (includes everything).
• Service : Amazing, very polite and help you with whatever they can. The price is however to take into account when booking this place. I'd obviously not come here when travelling alone but is sure a great place to stay for either a honeymoon or with friends/family if you have the budget for it.
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Lina (10/5): Exceptional -
- 은정 (10/5): Highly recommended! - Everything they served was good! Especially I was very happy that the staff who was in charge of our room was very friendly and professional! Thanks to that, We were able to rest comfortably. There doesn't seem to be anything :)
- Jared (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great one night stay in their deluxe suite. When we arrived after being picked up from the train station, we were given a nice tour of the hotel and room. The room was wonderful, with a beautiful view of the mountains from the outdoor bath. The room was well appointed, had plenty of space, and had very comfortable beds. We were served both dinner and breakfast. Both meals were delicious with the multi-course dinner being the highlight. As expected, not all of the staff spoke English, but the staff that did were very wonderful. Our stay here was short, so we were not able to take advantage of all the amenities such as the restaurant and public onsen; however, the room and staff were great and I would highly recommend a stay here. Upon leaving, we were escorted to the provided transportation by the owner. She performed saikeirei as we left.
- Helen (10/5): Exceptional - Room is very new, clean, nice, spacious and comfortable, with fresh scent of wood. Staff is very polite, patient and friendly. Private hot spring is very good.
- Richard (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing. - Remote but exclusive. Cozy and friendly.
- Wai-fan (10/5): Everything has been perfectly organised and in high quality. Thanks Suihoen. - I like everything, including the host, staff members, the room and facilities, meals with personalised menu, the onsen and the beautiful scenery. The hotel is located just opposite to the Ideyu Morning Market and a few minutes walk from the Gero Onsen Gassho-mura, a cultural heritage that shouldn't be missed if travelling to Gero. Can't think of anything that I didn't like.
- Wing (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hiu (10/5): Exceptional - Room is clean and spacious. Bathroom in the room is well equipped and decorated.
The public outdoor hot spring was so nice and relaxing. And there’s also a free private indoor hot spring that was very nice too. And I really like that the hot springs are 24/7.
Meals were so good and all the staffs were so friendly and helpful.
- Ee (9/5): Superb -
- Gerry (10/5): V good - Good service, large rooms, good quality meals, complimentary items, pick-up service to and from gero station. Even toiletries were of very good quality. 2 beds provided, each was slightly too small for 2 people to sleep in, rather better to have just a queen size or king size bed instead.
- Sathita (10/5): Exceptional - Place is beautiful. Good location, rooms are very clean and well equipped. Freindly staffs. Great outdoor bath. Food is good.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff. Excellent food and a great onsen in general. Highly recommend
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional -
- Xin (10/5): Perfect - Perfect in all aspects. No
- Sabrina (10/5): Best hotel we've been to in Japan - Beautiful little Japanese style hotel in Gero. The facilities are exceptionally nice, as well as the food and the staff. We booked thr room with a hot spring bath inside. The room was very spacious and the bathroom really beautiful and perfect for relaxing. There is also a separate bath on the roof for all guests (men and women separate) with a nice view of the valley and Gero. The food was so good and the staff were all so very helpful and friendly. I've seldomly had such a good service and overall experience.
- Siu (8/5): Very good - Service is excellent. Room very comfortable. A bit expensive.
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (9/5): Superb - The food at this onsen was exceptional, best we had so far in a onsen.
- Richard (9/5): Wonderfully relaxing stay - Staff were fantastic.
Large room and everything provided. In general very clean
Overall very comfortable
Meals were very good and beautifully presented It is expensive - very difficult to say whether good value for money or too expensive. But as the last night of our trip it was a real treat.
Ceiling in ladies public bath room needs attention due to a/c staining area around it.
- David (10/5): The place could not have been better, food fantastic, large use of local produce, wonderful staff! - In 2019, my son and I spent time in Kyoto. This year we decided to do a multicentre trip (Tokyo, Nagoya, Gero, Osaka) with the Suihoen, Gero Onsen in the middle for 4 days. I think Gero may be the best and most beautiful place I have ever stayed and Suihoen and the staff were a big part of that.
Outside onsen on the roof is fantastic with unspoilt views of the mountains. Staff excellent. Food excellent. Fantastic place to recharge from the stresses of life.
- Pattreya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hui (9/5): Highly recommended - Staff members were extremely polite, professional, helpful and friendly. Their service enhanced our overall experience of the Ryokan. The meals were great too. Price is on the high end.
- Jimmy (9/5): Superb -
- Eu_77 (8/5): Very good - Quiet place, friendly and english speaking staffs. Facilities little bit outdated.
- Mrs. (10/5): peaceful stay and one of the best japanese food - services
- May (10/5): 100/10! staff and fascilities are top notch and we will be back for sure! - Suihoen was the pinnacle of our honeymoon. the staff were absolutely lovely and attentive. They added so many small touches to our stay and the food was absolutely sublime! if we could give them 100/10 we would. it was the absolute highlight of our entire Japan trip and we will definitely be back!
- Maya (10/5): Exceptional - Great place. The staff were really attentive, helpful, and great. The room was fantastic. The dinner was so so yummy, and so was the breakfast. The onsen facilities are great and the amenities are so awesome. We loved every second of our stay here. Cannot wait to go back.
- Anonymous (10/5): We loved this place as our ryokan stay and cannot wait to visit again! - the location well maintained and incredibly scenic. The amenities and onsite eating was all top notch!!! tbh almost everyone was great and there was nothing to dislike. the tatami mats get hot but that also could have been because we were enjoying the hot springs right before bed.
- Bongkot (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pearlina (8/5): great room and comfortable. not sure if it’s fully worth the price point. I was more wowed at other ryokans that cost le - the room was fantastic and the private onsen in the room was a lovely treat. the staff who serviced us, he was the best. so attentive n speaks decent English and went out of his way to make us comfortable for the price we paid, could expect a prettier indoor n outdoor onsen. not that it wasn’t pretty - was still good. but not wow. Also would expect staff more equipped with English. there was confusion at check in as when we booked, we were supposed to have meals in room like traditional ryokan. but they only told us we were to be served in restaurant but couldn’t manage to explain why due to limited English. but kudos to them, they still accommodated our request
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erik (10/5): Relaxing stay - Everything was perfect: pick-up from the station, the hospitality, the room with the relaxing onsen bath and the food. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Changhui (10/5): Strongly recommended!!! ^^ - Very nice facility, modern and clean!! And, The most fabulous thing is FOOD!! I and my mother really enjoyed every meal served at the Ryokan!!! ^^ I’ve drive there, but, the snowy weather terrified me not to be back to Nagoya!!!
- Terence (10/5): Exceptional - very delicious food, very clean the private outdoor onsen maynot be very “private”
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything and everyone was so thoughtful during our stay.
They offered to pick us up at the Gero station so that was very convenient since we had a lot of luggage. They are very punctual.
The outside is serene and beautiful just as I would expect. The inside of the lobby was so aesthetically pleasing. More colorful than I thought it would be. Everyone there during check in was very welcoming and informative of the hot spring areas we can check out in the town.
Of course you don't need to go out because the hot spring inside the Ryokan are amazing. There are two separate public onsens on the roof (one for men, one for women with the same design). This is the beautiful rock looking one in the pictures that you see.
Then there is a separate outdoor onsen you can pay and reserve for 45 min that we used as a couple. VERY great and around $40! The private one has a warmer bath and then a super hot bath. We were surprised that it came with 2 baths. We loved it very much!
The dinner and breakfast was served by a very lovely person. The dinner part was a multi course meal so it was just so fun and everything was delicious.
The yukata they provide is so cute. I like these patterns more than some other places I have seen. We took many pictures and felt so cute
The rooms are beautiful. The pictures don't do it justice. The tatami is kind of squishy and heated. The futon is kind of thin but surprisingly fluffy. My boyfriend is used to the typical firm hotel beds though so he found it a bit hard to sleep, so be aware. But I like this futon because I hate hard hotel beds. I just use the pillows as more cushion.
Heating and air conditioning is very customizable but I liked the default settings. Shower and bathroom is great. I took a picture of the body wash because it smells like green tea and I must buy it now.
The TV works fine. I set up my Nintendo switch and played video games with an HDMI cord I brought from home.
