Guest Reviews
- Bojan (5/5): Not what we hoped for, overpriced - Nice private onsen and authentic japanese room. Pakistani service, insted of japanese. Bad english.
- Hannes (9/5): -
- Kaitlyn (10/5): Gorgeous private onsen - Incredible private onsen, large spacious room, and wonderful service. The Kasekei dinner and breakfast might not have been our favorite, but the meals were very fresh and beautifully prepared. Staying at this hotel was a treat and I would recommend! Definitely take advantage of the shuttle or bus to get here - we walked and it was quite the hike!
- suraiya (10/5): Fantastic - Great stay and lovely staff. They accommodated us really well as we could not eat meat. The room was amazing and all facilities there. Views of mountains was amazing N/a
- Sandy (10/5): An absolutely amazing experience! - The room was spacious and comfortable. The meals were absolutely beautiful and delicious. The service beyond five stars. Nothing.
- James (10/5): - Our room was very spacious and comfortable for two people. It was a nice change from the small hotel rooms we've been staying in during our trip. The hotel does not offer direct luggage forwarding but the front desk offered to help forward through a nearby conbini. The hostess was very hospitable and helpful especially with tickets for the shuttle. Best of all, the meals were very well prepared and delicious.
- Laura (9/5): -
- Ariana (10/5): Perfection. Best stay, best food - The greatest experience, we loved it! The staff was super friendly, the hotel charming, the rooms incredibly cozy, the food was exceptional (any Michelin-awarded cook would be jealous of the Seikansou‘s cook talent) and you even have a private Onsen! Simply perfect. THANK YOU!
- Richard (9/5): -
- Francesca (10/5): Meraviglioso -
- Vanette (10/5): -
- Natalie (10/5): A perfectly relaxing luxurious experience. - Incredible location, the rooms were perfect and comfortable and the bath overlooking the mountain was unreal. We loved everything.
- Ralph (9/5): If you have a high set of expectations for the ryokan experience this is a good choice. - It was the full, authentic Ryokan experience with friendly service Not inexpensive but worth it

- Susan (8/5): - Private onsen
- Kelvin (8/5): Memorable experience. The private onsen is exceptional. - Private Onsen. And truly amazing Kaiseki dinner. Great breakfast. Feast for the eyes as well as stomach. A bit difficult to get to. Did not recover clear instructions prior to arrival. facilities is sufficient. staff is great.
- Danielle (10/5): -
- Kariem (10/5): Superb - It was a wonderfully traditional room. The dinner and breakfast were both terrific. And, most importantly, the private hot spring bath might be one of the best, most relaxing, experiences of my life. That my stay had to end
- Jennifer (10/5): Amazing dinner and breakfast. Everything was great - Staff was so attentive
- Casey Finigan (9/5): Exceptional service and comfort in a traditional ryokan!!!! - The traditional style rooms are beautiful, clean, comfortable. The hot spring bath is a lovely way to relax but the absolute stand out is the dinner and breakfast, the food is incredible and the service and presentation is phenomenal. It’s not an easy walk from the train station and you definitely wouldn’t be able to do it with luggage. However the bus was very easy to catch.
We wanted to get an early start in the morning to try and beat the crowds but they don’t start breakfast until 8:30 which is so late given how extensive and time consuming the dining experience is and we had to cut our day short to make the train to our next location. I would suggest offering breakfast from 6:39/7am.
- angela hui yoon (10/5): Perfect, romantic holiday. - It’s flawless. The room was beautiful. We had a hot bath on the balcony, the meals looked and tasted amazing, the staff and owners were so helpful. Top marks, would go again.
- Kristy (10/5): Fantastic stay at a relaxing ryoken - It was very serene and not too hard to get to. The hosts were incredibly nice and welcoming. The dinner was delicious and the private onsen was great. The rooms are large and the beds are very comfortable There was no hot water in the sink but not too much of a problem!
- Jonathan (9/5): We really liked the traditional room and the staff are amazing! - The private onsen with an amazing view, the dinner, the room. You need to take taxi/bus/hike in a steep slope for 15 min to get there from the Yumayo station.
- Ciro (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Loved our stay at Seikansou! - We loved our stay at Seikansou! Everything about the hotel was beautiful from the lobby to the lovely multi-course kaiseki dinners and of course the private onsen! Staff were really friendly and hospitable.
It was our first time having kaiseki (multi-course Japanese dinner) and they did not disappoint! Dinner started at 6. We were served dish after dish while we were there. Everything was delicious. It got to a point where we were so comatose from the food that we ended up crashing at around 9 lol. Because we slept earlier we ended up waking up earlier to enjoy the onsen. As for the breakfasts (you get to pick either 8:30 or 9) - they were just as fabulous. We truly ate like royalty here.
Our favourite part about our stay would have to be the private onsen. We loved the experience of bathing outdoors, but in our own private suite. It definitely took a bit of getting used to since we were exposed to the cold air but things got a lot more comfortable once we started getting into the water!
Getting to the hotel wasn’t too bad - you either wait for a taxi to take you there from Hakone-Yumoto station (around 5 minutes) or you wait for the bus to take you there.
Overall I highly recommend coming here, especially if this is your first time staying at a ryokan/trying out an onsen. This was probably the most comfortable, most relaxing stay that we’ve had to date.
- Omgtoblerone (8/5): Very good -
- Vladimir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cousins-robledo (9/5): The meals were exquisite. One note if you have any food sensitivities the staff reaches out and in advance in order to a - The property was beautiful, had a very serene vibe and had a great view. The onsen was wonderful, the futons were extremely comfortable and overall it was greatly enjoyable The bedroom area felt a little bit tight to navigate around, some aspects were showing their age such as the toilet and bathroom sink.
- Miles (10/5): Exceptional -
- Woodworth (9/5): Superb - We loved the private onsen, forest views, and comfy accommodations We didn't like that fugu was served without any warning (we discovered this by translating the menu)
- Grace (9/5): Peaceful with amazing dinner and breakfast. - The dinner and breakfast served in the room were of fine dining quality; delicious and beautiful. It was also lovely to have our own private onsen. It got a bit uncomfortable sitting low to the ground for meals, but that's more our problem being inflexible!
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Caroline (10/5): Fantastic - Everything, the people, the location and view from our room, the food. The view from the Onsen was fantastic and the food was delicious and served in our room. I can’t recommend highly enough. It exceeded our expectations. Nothing
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jugnu (8/5): Nice experience - The staff are very good. There is a lack of transportation from the station to the hotel, which makes it difficult to reach with luggage. The hotel should provide a taxi service for an additional charge.
- Pauline (10/5): Exceptional - The dinner and breakfast meals were AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS and prepared with care and high quality. The dishes were traditional Japanese servings served beautifully for each course. The staff were so friendly and helpful. She even helped me put my robe on when we arrived. The sweet old lady who served our meals didn't speak English but Google Translate helped. The room was beautiful and the private onsen ready for us when we arrived. Overall, an incredible experience and one I would love to have again. I highly recommend Seikansou! You won't regret your stay. The mattress was a little firm for my liking but I think that's quite common in Japan so this is just a personal preference.
- Paul (10/5): Stay just for the food - The hospitality, the food and the private onsen. Mosquitos in the room
- Vahe (5/5): Passable -
- Julie (10/5): Incredibly friendly staff, amazingly traditional Japanese ryokan relaxing experience - The incredible private open air tub was amazing, along with the bathroom amenities and room. The 10 course kaiseki dinner and traditional breakfast were both fantastic. It was on the expensive side and a bit tough to walk to (you could take a city bus or shuttle however).
- Kristian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadejda (4/5): Disappointing - This is not what I expected for such money, I am very sorry for the time spent on this place
- In (9/5): Superb -
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leonie (10/5): It was the best hotel we ever stayed in. the staff was very kind and friendly and showed us a lot about Japanese culture -
