Guest Reviews
- Ivana (9/5): - Lovely house with plenty of living and other space for 8 guests. Fabulous location, walks from doorstep. Dog friendly - large garden for zoomies. Lovely host 😊 Nothing to report
- Joanne (10/5): A truly wonderful stay in a beautiful home that had absolutely everything we needed…thank you. - It’s out of the way of the hustle and bustle, and it’s a lovely house (my third visit) If you need good WiFi … it is a bit hit and miss depending on what room you are in
But this could also be a positive
- Sarah (7/5): A lovely home but it's missing the finishing touches to make this a 5* review. - A lovely house in a beautiful location The house was full of cobwebs - literally no room was free of them.
The towels are in desperate need of replacing. Those provided were very old and thin in quality.
The outdoor greenhouse is dangerous. It has several broken panes of glass which have been left within the greenhouse which could easily be accessed by a child or pet.
- Harwood (9/5): Fabulous large house in idyllic spot. - Polharrow is a large Victorian house that's fully modernised, comfortable, peaceful and in beautiful surroundings. Margaret, the host, had gone above and beyond with fruit, milk, bread, butter, biscuits, crisps, orange juice - chocolates because it was my birthday - and probably more I've forgotten. There's a great system of honesty box for logs, every bit of equipment you could want on holiday and plenty of parking.
We had no problem with the wifi but this won't be the place for you if you need good wifi in every room or want to see other people out of the window! We loved it; the house is huge and the temperature was chilly a couple of days, so bring a jumper. The house does warm up quickly, but remember you're in the middle of nowhere and pack accordingly. We had a fabulous holiday, but be aware that in the quiet season, some local facilities are closed or closed some days of the week.

- Joanne (9/5): Looking forward to the next visit - Out of the way but plenty of room for family to meet up Having the wrong code so couldn’t get in …but the host sorted within 10 mins

- Mary (9/5): Place to relax and unwind - It was a very homely house, with everything you would need for a short or longer stay.
Welcome pack was an added bonus. Nice to meet the owner during our stay. Nothing negative
- David (10/5): A very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Top Class - The house had a large safe enclosed garden. Ideal for our dogs. We found a exceptional unadvertised "welcome" pack on our arrival. Kitchen was well equipped and the house was very comfortable nothing
- Dennis van Zanten (10/5): Volledig huis in heerlijke omgeving - De rust en ligging/omgeving van het huis.
De zwaluwen bekijken vanuit de serre.
Compleet uitgerust.
Hele huis tot je beschikking.
Makkelijk parkeren Hier en daar wat stoffig
- Melanie (10/5): Definitely would go back - Location was perfect for our party
- Joanne (9/5): Beautiful stay…already booked a return trip - thank you - Middle of nowhere, quiet and idyllic Not realising that I was going to arrive to eggs, bread milk and butter as I went looking for a shop prior to arriving only to find these waiting for me
- Aaron (8/5): Lovely stay in a peaceful place - Lovely detached property with excellent outside space/garden. Cozy, homely and spacious interior. Wide variety of kitchen utencils - enough to be able to cook anything with an extensive range of basic provisions provided by the host which was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend. I didn't have any issues to report.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandra (10/5): Beautiful home - Excellent location, peaceful setting. Beautiful home, loads of space, with all of the amenities.

- Simon (10/5): Relaxed, comfortable and well appreciated stay. - Everything was fantastic! We were looking for a quiet, relaxing place to celebrate a birthday and this didn’t disappoint. It was very clean, large, homely and cosy. Well looked after and everything we needed and more was there 🤗. The host was very accommodating, helpful and quick to respond to messages. The property had lovely, unique touches and I would definitely return and highly recommend. Absolutely nothing

- Aimee (10/5): A wonderful retreat for a family getaway. Views, stylish accommodation and amazing star gazing. - The host was fantastic.
The gardens were perfect for an outdoorsy family.
The rooms were exceptionally clean, comfortable, spacious and stylish.
- Graham (10/5): Brilliant! - Everything. Nothing.
- Jacqueline (10/5): A really peaceful and cosy rural retreat which was excellently equipped. - The kitchen was so well equipped for cooking and baking. It even had gadgets like a blender and digital scales, and lots of different mixing bowls and oven-proof dishes. The log burner in the sitting room was great for wet days and cosy evenings. The conservatory was my favourite room, especially when the sun was shining. We had wanted to spend an evening outside around the fire pit but the weather wasn't good enough to sit out. I struggled to get the bottom oven and grill to work and found the instruction booklet confusing, but we managed it in the end. Working out the washing machine was a bit of a challenge too, but again we managed to work it out and it was good to have one available to use.
- Donna (10/5): I want to live here . .. - The pictures do not do this beautiful home justice. Set in the most tranquil peaceful forest. Amazing walks just a couple of miles up the road. Walking poles in front porch also. I didn't see them until after my long hike lol.
Everything we needed and more.
Margaret is a lovely lady who answered any queries quickly.
She left us a lovely welcome pack.
There were a plentiful amount of logs if we wanted a fire.
Very well equipped home and garden. So comfortable.
Great showers, comfy beds well stocked kitchen,
If you love being in nature away from the city life in peace and quiet , this beautiful home is the place to be.

Thank you Margaret Going home after the most amazing 3 nights.
- Mark (10/5): Cosy, well equipped house in a stunning location - Polharrow is nestled in the secluded hills on the Forrest Estate. The area is blissfully quiet, with some stunning views. The house is a good size, well equipped, comfortable, and had all we needed for a week’s stay. Our host, Margaret, left a welcome pack of food, which was much appreciated. She was also very attentive to our needs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again. Nothing!
- Matt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Very relaxing location with large garden and excellent host. - The house is very comfortable and well set up for the uses we needed. The host is excellent and responds very quickly to any requests. The beds are very comfortable with high quality, hotel style, linens. We would definately visit again.

- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful location, stunning house and a great host. - The house itself was perfect. Super dog friendly garden and quite remote which is exactly what we wanted. The bedrooms were all good sizes, the kitchen very well equipped and the living room cosy. Special mention to Margaret who was very accommodating and very good with communication. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone. Genuinely nothing to fault.
- Brian (10/5): Our stay was very relaxing, in warm and comfortable surroundings. - The Polharrow host was very quick in responding to any queries and extremly helpfull with great local knowledge. She even kindly brought extra logs for the fire to us on Christmas Eve which was above and beyond expectations and made our stay even better. The property was excellent with a true family home feel whch we settled into quickly. There were even Christmas decorations, made with real foliage, and lights which added a lovely touch at the time of year. The house and gardens are in great condition and were very clean and well maintained. The bedding and linen was luxury hotel standard which made our stay very comfortable. We were also made to feel welcome with key provisions which had been left for our use (bread, milk, fresh fruit, local cake, chocolates etc). Lights and heating were on when we arrived which made our arrival straight forward and was much appreciated. The location was beautiful (within a forrest estate) and suited us well as it was quiet and had easy access to forrest / hill walks for us and our dogs. Thank you Margaret for a wonderful stay at your property. There was nothing we did not like.

- Fiona (10/5): Exceptional - From the moment you turn into the drive you'll be blown away, not only is the location breath taking but the house doesn't disappoint either, everything about the place is perfect. I especially loved sitting in the sun room of a morning sipping my coffee while watching red kites swooping near by and of an evening sitting outside by the fire pit listening to the burn running by. Having to leave!
- Alexis (10/5): Exceptional - Magical and delightful!! Cant wait to return.

We had a very happy relaxing time staying here.... Absolutely nothing.

Lots of space, clean and tidy and had everything in it one needed. Large garden area/s should the sun shine. Rural location meant peace and quiet all day long! For us, there was nothing we didn't like.
