Guest Reviews
- Juan Carlos (10/5): - The place was perfect, we loved the onsen and their hospitality. Everything was perfect
- Darsh (10/5): Highly recommended and one of the best stays in Japan. - Excellent property. The variety of onsen is great here. The owner is very nice and polite. Breakfast is a plus. They even provide kimono with the stay. Location is good as well and close to attractions. Something to consider for some people is a slight uphill while going back to bus stand with luggage from the property.
- Martina (9/5): -
- Fabrizio (10/5): -
- Michaela (9/5): A wonderful stay and experience - The accommodation looked absolutely beautiful; it had that traditional Japanese atmosphere and four types of onsen—an outdoor bath, an indoor bath, a private bath, and a foot bath.
The room was very spacious with plenty of storage space.
We also had a free breakfast and could make tea, soup, or coffee in the lobby downstairs at any time.
We were also given the option to choose and borrow a yukata for the duration of our stay. The room was really cold, even though the air conditioning was running at full blast.
The accommodation was also a bit far from the center, but it was still within walking distance.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Napat (7/5): - Clean, good location, onsen is very comfortable, room was spacious Be warn, There's a late check-in fee of 6,000 yen, which is understandable due to Japanese's reputation of being punctual, but even after agreed to paid unconditionally without protest, i still being reprimanded angrily by male hotel staff for being late even though we tried to explain that being late due to heavy weather, but apart from this guy, other staffs are friendly and cordial enough
- alexandra (6/5): -

- Onsen/baths were great
- Room was as expected - A short walk from central town but not an issue for me (but perhaps to others)
- Jacqui (8/5): Lovely stay in Kusatsu and very close to the ski resort. - The onsen facilities were fantastic. Free parking. An extra pillow

- Radek (9/5): We had fantastic time here - Small family run inn with good atmosphere and friendly owners
Buffet with free coffee, tea, ice cream and microwave/hot water dispenser available 24/7
Convenience store 5 minutes from the premises
Nice room view
Foot bath
Great value A bit dated bathrooms/onsen facility but well maintained in comparison with other similarly priced onsen ryokans
The tatami rooms tend to become quite cold overnight, especially in winter (noisy AC prevented us from keeping it on overnight)
A bit far from the city centre (15-20min walk or 5min by 100 yen bus) but we found the neighborhood charming
- Paulette (7/5): Lovely to spend some days in winter - Rooms are very nice and comfortable, they serve good pod coffe and the variety of onsens available is quite nice! They even have private ones. Breakfast could be improved
- Katherine (10/5): We had a great stay, the onsens in the ryokan were super relaxing and the rooms were very comfortable. - Location, comfortable, public & private onsens, drink bar & breakfast No complaints!
- Sara (10/5): Loved it. - Traditional stay with private bath options. Great for our group.
- Jace (10/5): A beautiful stay among snowy scenery. - A wonderful stay at a beautiful ryokan. The owners are very nice, free cafe. All around terrific.
- Ai (6/5): -
- Arne (7/5): -
- Eren (10/5): Totally worth with price - Onsen was great and clean, employees were so kind and the breakfast portion was small but delicious. Since its an old building there was some sound problems and it was cold during night.
- Els (7/5): It was correct but relatively expensive - Nice experiment with the tatami room
And the private bath was nice If you sleep on the ground and it is cold beneath you , not very pleasant .
Staff was ok but not really supportive
Breakfast was so so
Room the heating made a terrible noise
The ice /snow was not cleaned up before the house . In the dark you cannot see that it is icy so I fell down . Nothing serious happened but it could have .

- Keesukphan (10/5): - nice onsen, quiet environment, nice staff and service
- Brendan (10/5): - Le calme
- Ando (10/5): -
- Gisela (10/5): The best Japanese ryokan and onsen experience! - The onsen is amazing and the peaceful traditional japanese room feel!!! The view from the room is breathtaking! If you want to feel THE REAL Japanese ryokan come here! A bit dusty tho but its okay!
- julia (5/5): -
- Samara (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer - It has a very calm and homely atmosphere. We loved the private baths, yukatas and the very lovely staff. You get a small but good breakfast. The room was large and it's very quiet at night. So we slept very well. The room had no curtains as is traditional for such places. No problem for us as I brought an eye mask.
- James (10/5): - Very nice, traditional Ryokan. Great selection of indoor and outdoor onsen as well as private onsen, very close to town, approx 5-10 mins walk and only 2 mins to a convenience store. Highly recommended.
- Kenji (8/5): -

- Shukreen (9/5): - Our first time in a Japanese Ryokan, and the experience was lovely. This place is a little bit out of the way, away from the Centre of Kusatsu, but we were driving so it was accessible. A parking spot was made available for us for free. The check in time is only till 6pm. We missed this fact and were running 1.5 hours behind, but they graciously waited for us when we called to let them know. Also we forgot some items in the safe when we left but they kindly helped courier it to our next destination.
- Barbara (10/5): Wonderful onsen hotel. - Wonderful onsen hotel. Provides an authentic experience. The onsen was very good. Hotel is small and provides a personal experience with an excellent onsen comfortable bed and it is very clean. Walking distance to the center of town. Wonderful experience. Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel is a Ryokan (Japanese-style inn), I liked the futons and tatami mats. The style of the room was great, it fixed me and my friend's sleep schedule because of how light the room gets with the sun beaming through the sliding shades. There are a family onsen, private, and separated women's and men's onsens with inside and outdoor onsens (note: the onsen indoors is way hotter than the outdoor one). We stayed 3 nights, Thursday to Sunday. On the first night, there were no guests staying over, which made the vibe creepy at night (but this was because of how quiet it was). The rest of the nights were great though our neighbor was loud and the walls are thin. There was breakfast included which surprised me, and there was a free yukata rental. The staff was nice and understanding.
- Yuri (8/5): Very good - The Breakfast is nice and simple to get your day started. There is 7/11 near buy if you are still hungry :)
- Viacheslav (10/5): Exceptional - Local open-air bath is perfect and there's one which could be used privately.
- Jules (10/5): Exceptional - Our room was a big corner room so we had PLENTY of space and a view of the mountain range. The hot baths were clean and beautiful. There is a foot bath right at the entrance of the hotel that we LOVED!
- García (10/5): Best place in kusatsu - Like no other. Hot water spots all over. Great breakfast. The owners were so sweet, they even offer us a ride to the bus stop when it was raining. The confort of the room and bed is like no other.
- Chor (7/5): Enjoyable and relaxing - the complimentary breakfast was a nice surprise. The onsen was too hot!!
- Sierry (10/5): Lovely stay and will definitely come back again. - Friendly staff and responsive over e-mail. Quaint property and spotlessly clean. Dipping in the onsen in the winter morning before you head out for the day is genius move cause it will keep you warm for a good hour or so before you need a jacket; and such a luxury to rest your muscles in after exploring town on foot the whole day! The main town is about a 15 minute walk. Free breakfast is simple but filling. N/A
- Emma (10/5): Amazing! - I loved the authentic feel and the upkeep of the building. Was a little hard to get to
- Kimihiko (9/5): Superb -
- Pavel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Davis (9/5): Superb - The staff was awesome. The location was a little far from Yubatake, but that meant it was quiet!
- William (8/5): Lovely Ryokan - We had lovely couple of nights in this traditional inn and enjoyed the public onsen.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Authentic onsen guesthouse experience at an affordable price. - It was a homely guesthouse in a traditional style. The staff were so lovely and kind - they really made our stay great. The futon were comfortable and the view from the room was stunning. We didn’t know a simple breakfast was included so that was a nice surprise. Yummy bread and egg and salad. The outdoor onsen (private and shared) were very nice and we loved the yukata available in many sizes and colours. Also, it wasn’t clear in our booking but we did get our own toilet so shared bathroom just means for bathing. We liked staying 10 minute walk from the center of town so it was extra peaceful. We felt like we had an authentic experience and would love to stay again. AC was a bit loud.
- Spencer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandr (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice old fashioned ryokan, with authentic Japanese style
Rooms was big enough and clean, without any disturbing smells. It’s old ryokan so be aware, you can hear when people talk in room nearby
- Nathan (7/5): Good -
