Guest Reviews
- shannon (10/5): - Hosts are amazing lovely people, the place is very beautiful. Plenty of places to visit and loads of walks around the area, very well located
- Kelly (9/5): Overall we had a excellent stay and would definitely recommend - Location and the hosts was very friendly and gave us lots of useful information on the area No ash tray in the garden for smoking
- Leslie (10/5): A peaceful relaxing accommodation with a wonderful being home feeling and comfort. - Self catering
- Susan (10/5): Perfect - Very quiet, peaceful location.
Mandy and her husband made us feel welcome and recommended places for us to visit, which was very helpful. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very cosy and comfortable. The kitchenette was perfect for us, as we didn't want to be cooking much on our holiday! Plenty of hot water and the shower/bathroom was lovely.
We can highly recommend Oakcroft and hopefully we will be coming to stay here again in the not too distant future.
- Martha (7/5): - Cosy enough, modern enough.
I felt I needed to add some plants/ flowers, to make it look more welcoming.
I also loved the fact that there was space to move!
The shower room was beautiful.
Location was great, close to many different places, yet very rural.
The hosts are incredibly nice people. I am sorry to say, it seemed impossible, for me, to get comfortable in the reading chair, on the sofa or in the bed.
The bed also felt too small for us and the duvet could hang over more, so partners do not have a conversation over it, whilst they should be sleeping.
The duvet cover looked lovely though and it was of very good quality.
If the furniture were upgraded, it would be a perfect stay and we would definitely be back again.
If the garden becomes more mature and there will be two comfy outdoor seats, (There is a table, parasol and 4 chairs already)
then all would be perfect.
Last but not least, I would have loved to have a cooking facility, as we had a week in a hotel before our stay and we had enough of eating out. ( There is a microwave )
- Christina (8/5): Really friendly would highly recommend - Immaculately clean.
Well planned out.
Complimentary tea, coffee and milk. Washing up sponge, liquid and tea towels supplied which I wasn’t expecting. Chest of drawers with mirror on was really awkward to sit at for doing make up.
Couldn’t always get the heating to work
Bed had slight dip.
- Sandra (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay. - It was a beautiful place to stay, so comfortable, peaceful and enjoyable. So well positioned to visit local places and attractions. Nothing we were really happy with our stay.
- Neil Kirkland (9/5): Spacious and quiet with easy parking in lovely rural location. - Lovely rural location. Easy to find and park, only a short drive to Sidmouth and there is a nice pub in walking distance. Very spacious, clean, quiet and safe with a nice outdoor space. Friendly host. The facilities are good for a short stay room, there is a fridge-freezer, the microwave is actually a combi-oven but there is no hob or washing machine. Bed mattress was a bit hard for us and we would have preferred for it to be king size rather than standard double as there is plenty of room for that. Shower cubicle also seemed unnecessarily cramped.

- Joanne (9/5): Just perfect - Excellent little self contained apartment, perfect location and spotless clean
- Alison (10/5): Beautiful and relaxing stay. - Hosts welcoming, Location seemed remote and yet everywhere was easy to get to, fairly quiet, relaxing. I liked the spaciousness of the apartment, the garden outside. It was all really great, if I had to pick on something it would be the few weeds in the garden and that the outside table and chairs could have done with a wipe.
- Swallow (7/5): Mini break - Location close to wildlife & lovely views but not far to Sidmouth and Honiton We found the bed a little too hard .
- Glynis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (10/5): Peaceful, rural, easy to access by car, safe, clean, great shower, restful stay. - The hosts were super, we had everything we needed, the tap water was certified spring water and great to drink, the guest garden had table and chairs and a bird feeder, through the french windows I watched a woodpecker, blue tits, a black cap, sparrows, a blackbird, it's a beautiful location.
- Jaquiline (9/5): Comfortable, peaceful and relaxing - Well laid out, well equipped, spacious. Well located for nearby towns in every direction.
Peaceful and private garden.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional - Accomodation in beautiful location. Very very clean and comfortable. Safe and quiet. No issues
- Sharon (10/5): Great hosts, excellent accommodation in lovely countryside. - Everything! Welcoming hosts, accommodation, spacious patio area though not quite warm enough to sit out on it for long. Lovely walk close by and a great pub just up the road (carvery recommended) Nothing
- Paul (9/5): Very restful stay. - Lovely location in the country near to a number of footpaths Only a minor point but if the TV and sofa were swapped round, people could look at the view outside as they watched TV.
- Keith (9/5): Superb - Clean private and quiet with friendly owners. Nothing really
- Phil (10/5): A gorgeous apartment on a beautiful farm. - The location was beautiful. No cooker (apart from a microwave with a grill function) which was ok but would rule out longer stays for us.
- Lesley (10/5): We enjoyed exploring around the area. Excellent spot for Devon and Dorset - Good spot for exploring the area Bed was a little hard for us
- Will (10/5): Fantastic hosts and property. Lovely stay overall. - Mandy and Lawrence were amazing hosts. So kind and helpful for the duration of my stay - Thank you both so much once again for a lovely stay! n/a
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Mrs (10/5): Very comfortable & spotlessly clean - Did not include breakfast. Area was easy to get to lots of places N/ a
- David (9/5): Very comfortable and relaxing - N/A
- David (10/5): It was lovely accommodation in a nice location. -
- Ursula (9/5): Superb - The property was well located in the countryside, so it was very quiet. The hosts were very friendly and accomodating. If we were to revisit the area, we would definitely stay there again. The only disappointing thing for us was that there was no hob to cook a hot breakfast, but we managed anyways. It wasn't an issue as we were only there for a few days. This wouldn't normally be a problem but on the day we were going to a wedding where the meal was vegan and wanted to load up in advance so that we wouldn't be hungry - but as I say, we managed with the microwave/convection oven
- Ian (10/5): Very nice, quiet, clean and comfortable -
- Pamela (9/5): Great - Very clean and comfortable Cooking facilities eg a hob
- Alan (10/5): Simply excellent with lovely hosts - Great accommodation, extremely clean, owners onsite and most friendly and welcoming. In the middle of the countryside but not far from the Honiton to Sidmouth road. There are no facilities within walking distance (e.g. shop) for provisions although there’s a good pub just up the road for meals. Limited food preparation facilities (e.g. No proper cooker/hob). Neither of these affected us in the slightest but if you want to DIY your meals they might.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathleen (10/5): Lovely apartment and wish we could have stayed longer - Comfortable and lots of room. Lovely and quiet location
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Perfect for our requirements - The location was stunning. Nothing it was all 5 star
- Julia (9/5): Excellent, friendly, clean everything you needed in the accommodation. - Everything
- Ray (10/5): A relaxing and peaceful time with lovely hosts, accommodation and surroundings. - Excellent location. Very peaceful. Nothing.
- Suzanne (8/5): This was an excellent clean property in a good central location . - Nice big bedroom and lounge. Good outside seating area The lack of a rug by the settee during the cooler evening made us feel cold . A blanket would have been useful too
- Sally (10/5): Lovely comfortable stay in a beautiful location. - Lovely location and area to sit out and enjoy. Attention to detail in all facilities and equipment. Not sure
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming owners , very happy with the accommodations
- Martin (10/5): Perfect break. - Amanda and Lawrence where the perfect hosts, very warm welcome, spotlessly clean everything you need in the property.Very quiet and peaceful stay.cant wait to come back. The rain lol 😆
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts were warm and welcoming, absolutely everything you need is available in the accommodation and even ice cubes were in the freezer and milk in the fridge on our arrival. Beautiful setting, peaceful and safe, a real hidden gem! The accommodation was immaculately clean and a clear recycling system was in place, Amanda and Lawrence have thought of everything. There was nothing at all we didn't like, not even the cheeky grasshopper that joined us through the French doors on our first night !! Even he didn't really want to leave as it took a while to pop him back outside 😊
- Pawel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nick (10/5): Oakcroft .. perfect one bedroom accommodation - The property is in an ideal location for exploring this beautiful part of the country.
We had a very warm and informative welcome from Lawrence who lives with his other half Amanda in the main house attached to the apartment.
The apartment is a very well designed, one bedroomed, annexe to the main house and was perfect for our needs. It was well equipped, very clean and fitted out to a high standard.
The apartment benefits from private parking alongside a delightful patio area, a lovely place to sit in the sun and admire the attractive surrounding countryside .
There are great walks from the property, even one leading to an excellent pub.
All in all if you are looking for a high quality, peaceful base to explore this part of Devon you will struggle to find better. Nothing
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful apartment. Well equipped, very smart & clean throughout. There were no problems & I have no critisisms
