- Nelson (8/5): Lugar acogedor, como en casa. - El servicio de agua en la ducha por la mañana cae un chorro delgado.

António lives for those dogs.
I was there 2 extra days because i was sick. António was very Nice and prepared some food too.
- Julio001 (10/5): The best place we stayed in El Salvador. - Great location in the heart of Ataco and right in front of a traditional local market where we had breakfast. Our room and private bathroom were spacious and clean, and the shower had hot water. We parked our car safely in front of the hostel. There's also free street parking all over Ataco and it's super safe. We loved our stay in Casaca. It is beautifully decorated and the whole hostel is themed after the owner's rescued dog "Callejas," whom he saved after getting hit by a car. The owner Antonio is a wonderful person, whose entire mission in life is to rescue and give street dogs a better life. He's already been able to help many dogs. We enjoyed hearing the story of how he rescued Callejas and made him a wheeled harness so he could walk again after his back legs were paralyzed after the accident. It was amazing staying in a place that was not only comfortable, well located, and beautiful, but that also supports a great cause. Antonio was the most welcoming and generous host we've ever had and I highly recommend you stay at Casaca. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Philippe (10/5): Hidden gem in Ataco - This is a hidden gem in Ataco, the price compared to other hotels in the area is very attractive. And don't think that you will get less because of that, the rooms are big, with their own bathroom, the location is perfect and you have a beautiful market just right in front of it! The owner is very kind and owns two beautiful dogs that he saved from the street. I highly recommend this place!

- Maria (9/5): Your place to stay if you pass by Ataco - Great location, clean and quiet place with a great view. Kind hosts (Antonio and the sweetest doggies). No kitchen usage available for the regular rooms (No problem for me since I just stayed one night and I didn’t have in mind to cook).
- Manana (10/5): The best stay in El Salvador - Amazing place, the best I've stayed in El Salvador. There are super cute dogs and the owner is using part of the profits to feed stray dogs. The room was spacious, very nicely decorated, with a super comfy bed. The shower had hot water and everything was working great. Good vibes, I didn't want to leave. Everything was perfect.
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - Antonio is a wonderful host! His passion for rescuing dogs absolutely warmed my heart. I also enjoyed the encounter with his own lovely dogs very much.
And at the same time it‘s just a super nice Hotel, with comfortable rooms for very reasonable prices, also had equipementwise everything I‘d need. Absolut 10/10
- Billy (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great stay! The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. Our room was cozy, spacious, with very comfortable bed. Location was great.
Three absolutely adorable dogs made our stay even better.
On top of that, part of the income from the hostel goes towards feeding stray dogs. Definitely recommend staying here and supporting a great charity of the owner. Everything was great!
- Dave (5/5): Passable - I was in walking distance of cafes and shops
- Jessica (10/5): Just what we needed! - What a gem of a homestay! Antonio was a fabulous host and immediately made us feel at home with refreshing drinks and his adorable dogs. Beds were comfy and rooms had lovely warm lighting. We felt very safe here too. Was also great to be able to use the kitchen!:)
- Alejandro (10/5): Clean, comfortable and great location. - The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Everything was clean. He rescues street dogs and that is the meaning of the name. He will show you the dogs he rescued. The property is just a couple blocks from the town center. The neighborhood felt safe and plenty of street parking if you drive.
- Maikel (10/5): A home away from home - Very homey and comfortable due to the place itself and Antonio, who is a wonderful host. We loved having the dogs around too. They were well-behaved cuties.
Room was spacious, very clean and nicely decorated - perfect to relax. Ataco was a good location to base ourselves for the Ruta de Flores.
- Luise (10/5): Exceptional - The Host was very nice and courteous.
He made our stay a really good experience and is easy to communicate with!
He has a big heart for dogs and a wonderful project which he is dedicated to.
The Hostel is a really personal space he shares with travelers so be ready to feel at home!
Location is awesome, everything in walking distance.
Recomend 100%
Thanks again for everything! If you are allergic to dogs it’s maybe not the place for you. There were 2 really sweet dogs who made our stay special!
- Gwen (10/5): Absolutely perfect! - I loved everything overhere. The hosts is the sweetest man ever with a big smile and a great heart. He will make sure your stay is perfect.
The rooms are really comfortable and the beds are very nice!
With your stay you will support the streetdogs as wel. Because Antonio is helping them. Ask him about it and he will show you everything. He is so proud!
- Brian (10/5): A tranquil stay in a chill town. - Antonio is a wonderful host that shares his knowledge about Ataco and he may also share some of his cooking (he is a wonderful cook)
Learn about Callejas and the accident that left his hind legs paralyzed but Antonio has devised some wheels for him to get around. Two other younger dogs here too that live to play. Maybe not the best place for you if you do not like dogs.
The kitchen is well equipped if you decide to cook or plenty of good options nearby for eating out.
There are only 3 rooms here so it feels like home. A nice garden in the back with table and chairs to enjoy the tranquility.
Nothing fancy but a great value to enjoy Ataco.
Wish we could stay longer! Enjoy. Nada
- Guthrie (10/5): Exceptional - Super homely hostel/ guesthouse
The owner Antonio is so friendly and welcoming, also runs an amazing project for the stray dogs in the area (10% of the money goes to this project)
- Christoph (9/5): Superb -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellie (9/5): Superb -
- Susy (10/5): Exceptional - Big room with enough space for your stuff. Also comfy bed :)
Free pure water in the kitchen is super nice
- Wasi (1/5): Bad - The fan wasn't working, when I pointed that out, the owner returned my money and told me to leave.
They have two massive dogs which will jump on you.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Great place, good location, helpful host, lovely dogs Walls are thin - best to bring ear plugs
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eva (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed my stay, the owner is really nice and always makes sure the guests have everything. He has two well-behaved dogs, but if you are scared of them, not a good place to stay!
- Clelia (1/5): Bad - Our traveller wasn't allowed to check in. They informed us about a strict policy of checking in no later than 6pm. We were there for business and arrived to the town at 7pm. They should extend their check in hours.
- Lanaro (9/5): Superb -
- Wenjin (10/5): Enjoyed the stay and felt really welcomed by the host. If you speak some spanish you could hear many good stories from t - Good value, full package, friendly host, convenient location. Nothing.
- Alexander (10/5): Cozy stay - We had a wonderful stay at Casaca. Antonio is a kind and generous host and the rooms are comfortable, cozy and clean. Hot water in the shower which seems to be hard to find in El Salvador. Highly recommend for your stay in Ataco. Nothing.
- Es (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great. Easy to get to the festivities and celebration of Farolitos. The bed was comfortable and smelled clean. Antonio was super friendly and helpful. It was great just sitting on the porch with the dogs watching the people go by. He has a great love and devotion to helping the street dogs in Ataco. It is a great mission. I was not able to stay longer.
- Lowenna (7/5): Good - Was a really nice room. We’re able to use the kitchen and bathroom but went out to eat as there were some really good food stalls by the central park.
- Buurman (9/5): Superb - Super nice stay! Owner is very helpfull and nice.
- Abby (10/5): Definitley stay here!!! - This was a perfect hostel! We felt instantly at home and welcomed to the point we instantly cancelled our next stay and extended here instead! The owner was so friendly and helpful and the facilities were great, room was lovely! It was such good value! We even had our washing done for free which was ssoooo kind! Plenty of water etc. couldn’t praise it enough! Definitley stay here! Nothing
- Gloribel (10/5): Casaca, a great place for your money. - Casaca was a small, very laid-back place. With a kitchen that I could use to prepare my own meals, there were some food items that I could use at no extra charge. I really like this place, very close to restaurants, markets, stores, and lots of street food at a very low price. Thank you, Tony. I hope I can come back soon. It was very close to everything I needed.
Cheap and clean.
Rooms are big enough.
I like gardens with flowers. There were plenty of flowers, so butterflies and hummingbirds.
He has 2 dogs, they are very sweet.
There are these small red 🚘 🚗 that can take you for short rides in town.
- Daniëlle (10/5): Exceptional - This place is so nice, honestly the best stay we had in 4 months! Mainly because of the owner, he is really nice, cooked us twice a nice diner. If you don’t like dogs or you are allergic better not stay here (I loved the dogs).
- Karen (8/5): Lovely Ataco - Very comfortable room 5 mins walk from the town. The owner and his 2 dogs were very friendly. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The shower had hot water. It wasn't hot enough (July) to need a/c or a fan. I didn't use it but the kitchen was very dated. When the downstairs lights were turned on in the middle of the night, it woke me up as the curtains were thin.
- Aimee (10/5): Excellent budget stay with kind owner - The rooms are clean and comfortable and the WiFi works well. There is a fully stocked communal kitchen and laundry facilities. The owner doesn’t speak English but he is a great host and is more than happy to help with anything you need. He has two very friendly dogs and the proceeds from his guesthouse go towards helping the animals in his community. The location is great as well; close to markets, restaurants, and about 10 minutes to the bus stop. We wish we could have stayed longer! Nothing, we’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Harriet (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay at Antonio's house! He is a such a wonderful host and his two dogs are so sweet. He looked after us very well making us coffee, hot chocolate, choco bananas and sharing some of his homemade liquor with us. The bed was also very comfortable. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay on the Ruta de las Flores.
- Savannah (9/5): Antonio is the best host I’ve ever had - he is so welcoming and fun to be around. 10/10 recommend staying here for -
- Aranka (10/5): Best stay so far! - Best stay!! Super friendly kind host, that has a very comfortabel and clean home with hot shower. He takes good care of his two cute dogs and the house smells very nice and fresh. He lets you taste some local Salvadorian snacks as well:) best host so far.
- Alain (10/5): Exceptional - In mine 1 year travel this was absolut the best place i stayed. I wanted just stay for 2 nights. In the end i stayed over a week. If you want to visit La Ruta de Los Flores this is the place to be. Antonio is the best host i ever had. He is very friendly, has a big heart and is very good chef! You can also try from his coffe and homemade liquior. The rooms are very clean and the beds are new! You can use a very big kitchen witch alot of stuff. The Wifi is also very good. His two dogs Callejas and Talhuates are also very good pets. I feeled like home.

- Lieke (10/5): Incredibly welcoming owner in great property! - Antonio and his two dogs are amazing! Extremely kind, welcoming and joyful. Made us dinner, gave us coffee, made his own bug repellent for us, and more. Besides that, Antonio works very hard keeping the property spotless clean and fresh, in a comfortable and well equipped room. Sad to have left, would love to return! -
