Guest Reviews
- Williams (10/5): - Very welcoming hosts. Clean and bright space to stay whilst in the area No complaints
- Williams (10/5): - Very comfortable property. Lovely hosts, very welcoming and friendly. Would recommend this place to anyone. No complaints!
- Williams (10/5): - The property feels very homely and spacious, it gives you a place to feel like you’re away from the rest of the house and just in your own place. Hosts are also very welcoming!!! No complaints
- Williams (10/5): - Hosts were fantastic, really made you feel at home and welcome. I am not a dog person but every single one of their dogs are so beautiful! Could not fault the property or the hosts.
- Hotspur73 (8/5): - Big room, large comfortable bed and amazing views No lock on bedroom door
- Williams (10/5): - Love this property. Evan and Jane are amazing hosts and I could not fault them in the slightest. No faults!
- Tinka (1/5): The most horrible, rude and unhelpful host I ever met in a stinking dog-sty! Don't go there! - Nothing. The host was very unkind from the start and in the end asked me to leave his house! Unbelievable rude, he was! The fact that When I arrived at seven p.m. after more than 60 miles of cycling, the host was angry that I arrived "too early" . He still had to clean my room and make my bed. He didn't allow me to put my e-bike in the garage and asked me to carry it all alone 20 steps of two stairs. When I asked him to help me, he said it was " your problem". Also , the whole house stank of more than twelve little dogs and the view from my room was not with the promised sea-view, neither with the balcony from the pictures. And absolute, disaster, that's what it was!

- Lalinder (5/5): - Evan was lovely. Bed sheets comfy. Nice view. Bedroom clean Kitchen was very dirty and lounge wasn't a usable space as the dogs were all there. (When i was checking out Jane was cleaning the kitchen - she'd been gone for a month and only returned the night before I left)
I love dogs but unfortunately the smell of 8ish dogs was overwhelming - I had to leave my bedroom window open at all times
Unfortunately I did wish I could have cancelled after checking in - would have been cheaper for me to have booked a hotel with ensuite but thought the pictures looked very nice.
No locks on the doors - Evan did explain with it being a family home, he would have a spare key so it would defeat the point. My only note on that is the spare key would be more for personal safety regarding other travellers there and to ensure personal belongings were safe when others were coming in and out.
- Alison (5/5): Hmmmm - The cleanliness and comfort of the room and bathroom, the wonderful view. The host was friendly. The many dogs were no bother. I was surprised to find that the b&b seems to be run by a single man - I had expected a couple.
I was rather disturbed to find that my bedroom did not have a lock on the door. Being a single women I am aware of safety so I suggest that that is remedied as soon as possible.
- Hakim (10/5): - Tres jolie vue. Evan est très accueillant et sympathique. Je recommande
- Sarfraz (10/5): - Loved the views from the balcony very good hospitality very clean and comfortable room outstanding excellent location 👌👌👌 Will recommend to others and definitely visit again.
- Geof (8/5): I’m pleased I chose this place for my short one-night stay - The host was charming and we had a good chat over a very nice cup of coffee shortly before I was on my way. I was only staying for a night and it suited my purposes perfectly but for a longer stay I’d want to be more central.
- Sophia (5/5): Too Many Dogs - There was a big comfortable bed and it was warm. The smell and the noise. There were many, many dogs - maybe 12 adults and at least as many puppies that were apparently just coming up to 10 weeks old. The combination of doggy smell (and possibly dog poo? - I may be maligning them) and then the powerful air-freshener / room scent smell trying to cover it was almost overpowering. The excited yapping of all the dogs every time anybody opened a door into the central living ares meant that you couldn't hear any conversation.
I love dogs but I couldn't wait to escape the smell.
- Cindy (1/5): Reservation confirmed and paid, but no room was available on arrival. - Very disappointing and stressful experience.
I paid for a room for March 3rd through Booking.com. When I arrived at the property around 8:00 pm, the owner, Evan, told me that the room was no longer available because it had already been rented to someone else. He said it was a problem with Booking.com.
However, I had already paid and my reservation had been confirmed. Evan told me that he would resolve the situation once we left, but that never happened.
Booking.com tried several times to contact Evan to solve the issue, but he never responded to them. As of today, I still have not received my money back and I never received the room I paid for.
Because of this situation, I was left with nowhere to stay that night. The M5 motorway was closed due to an accident and all hotels in Portishead were fully booked, so I had no other option but to spend the night sleeping in my car.
This was extremely stressful and unacceptable. When guests pay for a confirmed reservation, the accommodation should honor it or at least help find a solution. Unfortunately, that did not happen.
For this reason, I cannot recommend this place.
- Dharma (10/5): - So sweet and such a lovely home Nothing much where everything was good
- Hilary (10/5): Evan is a wonderful thoughtful host and the dogs are so affectionate, friendly and obedient. - Panoramic views from the room are wonderful. The Dogs and Puppies were very affectionate and obedient. Very homely feel.
- Deepika (8/5): -
- callum (10/5): Extremely cost efficient, super friendly hosts, cute dogs and puppies and a spectacular view - Evan was an amazing host, very friendly and funny. The dogs were absolutely lovely and there were even puppies we could have a cuddle with. This definitely made the stay even better so if you love puppies and dogs, definitely book here
Extremely cost efficient, super friendly hosts, cute dogs and puppies and a spectacular view, What more can you ask for :) N/A
- Godspower (10/5): It was an excellent stay - The host and his wife were very welcoming nothing really
- John (9/5): -
- Jan (10/5): - Lovely people, cute dogs, amazing view from the window and beautiful place. Bonus points for delicious coffee in the morning! Highly recommended :)
- Toropainen (7/5): We were kindly welcomed and served tea and coffee, host was lovely but the quality in terms of cleanliness, privacy and - Excellent host, comfy bed, great sea view Untidy and strong smells because of the dogs, should be cheaper as a room in shared house with shared bathroom
- Bernadette (1/5): We didn’t stay at the property due to all the risks - Location was ok The ad don’t state there is loads of dogs at the property, no lock inside your room for privacy and safety, very rude host
- Hannah (10/5): Like visiting family friends! - Fabulous people and property. I havent experienced a warm and vibrant welcome like it! Very grateful as I only booked a few hours beforehand and was in need of rest to continue my travel.
Love seeing the boats go past on the water, the fresh air and really easy to get to and park.
The dogs were an amazing addition that I would have paid separately and extra for! Something to note for non dog lovers or light sleepers.
Very very comfy bed and quality bedding, tv in bedroom and desk was great to use.
I felt very safe and concerned for with mutual trust with the hosts. Though the bathroom is shared with other guests if there are any. A mirror and lock for the bedroom from inside and out wouldn't go amiss.
- Maria (9/5): 35 minutes drive from Bristol airport - Very comfortable room in a modern shared home which was spotlessly clean. Hosts were delightful. It felt very much like we were staying over with friends.
The Windmill Inn restaurant, just over a mile away, was great for an evening meal, with special offers mid week.
Bed and room were very comfy with no road noise at all.
The dogs were adorable, very very excited welcome but quickly quietened down. Nothing. We would stay again. If you're not comfortable with dogs, the bedroom was very comfortable.
- Anonymous (7/5): -
- Yannick (10/5): Short stay but during it I had no complaints. - Owner was friendly. Also gave me advice which gave me clarity.
- Iveta (10/5): - A warm, comfortable, cosy, clean place and a welcoming, considerate host.
- Volodymyr (10/5): -
- Emma (1/5): Frightening - The view and ‘Female’ host, dogs and room The male host was abusive towards me on my 2nd day/ evening, my h female host was not there. He left his 8 dogs with me locked up whilst he went out, with my permission for 1-2 hours then he verbally abused me at 11pm when i was making a video call outside for just over 5 minutes complaining about my laughter as unacceptable conduct. He also made abusive and accusing derogatory verbal assaults to me. The following day i was asked to leave. My conduct was perfect and I didn’t engage in an argument with him, yet I tried to defend his accusations which was totally unacceptable! He accused me of being a drug addict and an alcoholic which is untrue.

- Matt (10/5): Definitely felt like being at home with lovely people. - Amazing location, lovely clean and modern property, very friendly hosts and the dogs are cute and affectionate! Highly recommended. We wanted to take a dog home but weren’t allowed! 😂
- Medwin (9/5): - Good care by host Jane, well looked after.
- Joyce (10/5): Evan and Jane so lovely. - Location was lovely.
- vaishali (10/5): Lovely place and hosts. Thank you for your hospitality and care. - Evan was a lovely warm, welcoming, kind and thoughtful host and looked after us all. He makes the best artisan coffee !
All the beautiful dogs were gorgeous characters and so much fun, they made the stay so much better - we had many puppy cuddles and didn’t want to leave !
- Richard (10/5): Great stay in very comfortable house - A real gem of a place.Terrific location and excellent home from home.Really comfortable bed and good bathroom.Particularly appreciated accomodating a later than anticipated arrival.
Will stay again. Nothing
- Atkinson (4/5): - Evan and Jane were lovely. We feel like this property is falsely advertised and not at all what we expected. A TV in the room would have made it more likely for us to stay.
- Mary (10/5): Great little find. I will definitely return . Friendly hosts and lovely room. - This was an amazing little find. I was there for 6 nights while on training in the area. Evan and his wife were lovely hosts. Really friendly and made sure I was ok.
Great location and easy to find
- Heidi (8/5): Very friendly, helpful, fun with the dogs. - Was perfect for an overnight stay. It is not in the centre of town but is only a five minute drive away. If you want to explore the coastal path, then this is perfect. You do need to like dogs, and these were adorable! Very happy with my stay.
- Dr. Martin (7/5): -
- Steve (10/5): -
- Doc Sarah (7/5): Comfortable stay - The very comfortable bed and the view from the deck across the Bristol Channel For us - older people: Steep concrete steps down to property entrance. Dogs a trip hazzard and no useable communal area.
- Evan (9/5): Homey accommodation, coupled with a nice sea view - We really enjoyed the view and the hospitality.
- Stefan (10/5): - Very kind and for short notice everything prepared and ready to use the room.
For sure I’ll go next time on same accommodation
- Louise (8/5): -
- Robin (10/5): Where the Severn ends - Felt at home Great company and the dogs were a bonus. Spectacular views across the channel.
- cinzia (6/5): - La posizione. È’ lontanissimo dall’unico bus che arriva li’.
- Tannia (10/5): Beautiful and comfortable - The house is beautiful, the hosts are wonderful and very hospitable. They were very concerned about our well-being. They kept everything clean, and the room and bed were very comfortable and clean. A great place to stay for many days. Convenient if you have a car. They have a lot of dogs, but they're wonderful and never bother you. There's a coffee machine, hot water, and access to the patio with a beautiful panoramic view. It was a shame to spend only one night, it would be worth it for more days.
- Geoff (5/5): - The location, the views, the price and the dogs! Lack of mirror in the bedroom
Potential extra charge for the seaview bedroom used in publicity shots
- Fran (10/5): Brilliant hosts and exceptional value for money. - We couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome! We loved every minute of our stay. The rooms were lovely, the views are amazing and the dogs are just adorable. Thank you so much for having us and we will definitely be back to see you both and the pups soon! Nothing, everything was great.
- Eloïse-Fleur (10/5): - Jane and Evan were great hosts. The view from the room was amazing and the bed was really confortable.
- gerald J (10/5): A great short break ! - House owned by a very welcoming couple ( Evan & Jayne ) who gave us a very warm welcome - It was like going to stay with very good friends.
Our room was lovely and we had full use of the kitchen, lounge & garden, making it a really nice 2 night break.
Being dog lovers it was great to get to know their havenese family ( Especially little Jack ) and the 2 new born puppies. Nothing !
- Philip (10/5): - Convenient and position
Easy to get to and helpfulness
And the lovely Havanese dogs Nothing

- Paul (10/5): Great value location with friendly hosts - Needed somewhere to stay and work for a couple of days whilst travelling around. Never done a house share before but Evan and Jane were really friendly but not intrusive. Had a nice, large, clean room with a desk and decent wi-fi and that's all I needed. They share the house with 6 (small) dogs who were lovely coming to meet you every time you came downstairs.
Great views out the back of the house (or from one of the bedrooms) over the Bristol Channel. About 10 mins walk to shops or about 25mins into Portishead where there's everything you'd need. Recommend the open air pool in Portishead if you visit.
- Lukáš Červinka (10/5): - If you don't like dogs, this is probably not the accommodation for you. But we were in heaven. Every time you came in from a trip, you were greeted by several furry little balls. Evan and Jane take nice care of them and their home is very cozy as well. They were both very nice and helpful.
There was plenty of space in the room for all of our stuff. And the bed? We didn't even want to get out of bed in the morning, how comfortable it was. The kitchen has enough facilities to make your favourite meal in.
The bathroom is shared, but we didn't find that to be a drawback. On top of that we had a beautiful view of the sea with sunsets.
- Jane (7/5): - Comfy room with nice views. Resident dogs bark a lot.
- Kurach (8/5): Fun - It was heaven if you like dogs;
Bed and room were very comfortable and the view was amazing Nothing for the money
- Fiona (9/5): Really enjoyed it -
- Bonkowski (10/5): -
- Friederike (9/5): -
- Alan (9/5): - How private it was. Clean and tidy.
- Ian (9/5): Very relaxing. Very hospitable. Great value. - Quiet location, clean & comfy room. Excellent views over the Severn estuary. Free parking. Everything was great but a small desk in the room would have been a great bonus (to get some paperwork done……as it was a business trip)
- Samantha (10/5): -
- Doreen (10/5): Thank you for your hospitality - I had a great stay -
- Yvonne (10/5): - Friendly nice owner. Lovely dogs. Fantastic view. Conveniently situated.
- conor (10/5): - Excellent location with lovely sea view, both Evan&Jane lovely people made me feel very welcome, really comfy bed and nice bathroom.
Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Portishead.

- Richard (5/5): Disappointing they were not ready for us twice. - Great view and they do have a nice house but on this occasion because of the aforementioned should have got a travel lodge. Turned up at 14.20 was advised room not ready. Was told Booking.com states 1500. Ok my fault although I’d advised I’d arrive around 2ish on the booking. Ok my fault. Altered plans and returned at 16.30. Room still not ready so we sat in the kitchen area whilst the previous sheets etc were being thrown down the stairs.
Got to room. Creased non ironed bed sheets, not hoovered and doggy smell. Big sofa prevents use of wardrobe 🤷🏻♂️. No Lock on door. Come on Evan we gotta keep our personal stuff secure.
Shared bathroom ! Didn’t see that as obvious so better advert here required and not hid in the middle of a drop down menu. As we were late now our free lift was not available so cost of unnecessary taxi. Not a problem with dogs but was woken at 06.30 with barking and coffee making.
- James (7/5): Overall very good, did not like owner preaching his political views - Breakfast very good Tv in room
- Tanya (9/5): Great stay - Great location, nice and clean, very comfortable bed, Evan & Jane are lovely people, great cup of coffee in the morning! Fantastic view from the terrace!
- Lynne (8/5): -
- Domreeves (10/5): - A lovely place to stay and made to feel welcome from the start. Evan even gave us a lift to the local pub. Highly recommended
- paul (6/5): Evan was friendly - Location, bedroom was nice. Not clean, dog fluff everywhere.
- Christian (8/5): -
- Besa (9/5): The room has a stunning view overlooking the sea and had everything we needed. Great value for money -
- Jenny (8/5): Ideal and comfortable - There is a communal kitchen to make your own breakfast. Evan did make us tea on arrival and coffee in the morning, which was most welcome. Could just do with a mirror in the bedroom
- Colin (10/5): -
- Karl (9/5): Lovely property, welcoming family, the best views in Bristol by far! - Stunning views, very welcoming family. Bed was extremely comfortable. Shared bathrooms are always a little awkward but didn’t cause too much of an issue.
- Darryl (10/5): - Lovely host and his dogs All was perfect

- Scott (9/5): - Fantastic room with a great view. Good friendly owners. Don’t book if you don’t like dogs.
- Amanda (9/5): -
- Catriona (9/5): - A late check in was possible. Such kind and friendly hosts. Lovely dogs. Gorgeous view and location. Super comfortable bed. My young son felt very comfortable there and slept very well. I wasn't very sure where to park so maybe an explanation of that would help for arrival, especially for a late arrival.
- Ashleigh (8/5): Bright clean room - Clean bright room in a lovely home. Lovely dogs. Comfortable bed and very clean shared bathroom. Good communication from the hosts.
- Heather (8/5): Great cup of coffee that saved the day! Thank you -
- mark (8/5): -
