Guest Reviews
- Jan (5/5): Good location; some disappointments - The cottage was roomy and accommodated 4 people well. The kitchen was well set up. The location was very good, and we enjoyed the view. Although it was quite plain, the place was clean and tidy. We sent several texts to the number provided to let them know the door of the washer would not stay shut. Booking.com told us they contacted the owners to let them know, along with the fact that the flush button on the toilet broke, but the toilet was still functional. They told us the housekeeper had requested more info about the toilet button, but no one responded regarding the washing machine. The toilet was not fixed, and we went the full 4 days without communication about the repair of the washer. This was frustrating, not having a way to wash our clothes after lots of hikes. Having a washing machine was one of the reasons we booked this place. Very disappointing to hear nothing, even after a second message with Booking.com. We were unable to figure out why the dishwasher didn't work properly - the dishes came out dirty and we did them by hand.
We would recommend having a blanket or throw available to use while sitting on the couch.
To be honest, given the price of renting Altvaid, the 4 of us agree it does not measure up to other places we stayed in the area. It has excellent potential with some more thought and TLC.
- laurence (8/5): Logement très agréable et très bien situé -
- Helen (9/5): Peaceful, beautiful, comfortable - Superb , quiet location with spectacular views. Always spotlessly clean on arrival. Beds pretty comfortable. Kitchen well equipped. The only downside for a group is that the kitchen is quite small so hard to squeeze around the table to sit to eat. However we have returned multiple times so it hasn’t stopped us!
- Richard (8/5): - Well equipped. Comfortable beds. The telescope was a nice touch. A lovely location, with very enjoyable walks, and very handy to the village of Dunvegan, and to Dunvegan Castle. There were irrelevant instructional documents in the file. To use some of the home appliances required the reading of reams of material. A complete review and summarised instructions of what renters needed to know would be most helpful. A ‘grab rail’ in the shower would be a useful safety measure.
Very expensive. Slow wifi.
- Mario (9/5): - The cottage is really great. The internal is clean and well organized; we found all we needed in terms of home appliances for cooking, washing and relaxing. The view from the house is stunning and the quiet is absolute. We would highly recommend it for visiting Skye island.
- Ryan (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (10/5): Wonderful place. Be careful when bringing dogs. - A beautiful cottage in a remote beauty spot. The property even has its own local buzzard that you can spot outside at any time of day. There's nothing we didn't like, really. It's an old cottage, so bear in mind the creaky stairs, and you will spot the occasional insect around. One thing I will say is that it would be great if they could work on getting a fence sorted. My dog is well trained and didn't go near the road, but some guests might need to keep their dog on a long lead or something.
- Arjan (8/5): Very good -
- Lloyd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Denia (9/5): Great Family House - Well equipped kitchen
Great shower
Views
Generous room sizes Very limited access to taxis
- Sam (8/5): Very good - The wifi was good for Scotland.
The heating was good. The wifi password in the house folder is wrong. The correct pw is on the modem.
The drainage in the shower is blocked.
The wooden chairs are unstable and need repair.
The curtains don't cut out the light.
