Guest Reviews
- Ijazullah (8/5): Amazing view very kind and nice host but a lot of stairs to climb and the area was a bit congested - The sea view Last floor no elevator it was tiring to climb all the way up
- Monika (9/5): Superb - Great localization, close to nice places, as Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmad. Easy to reach trampstation and more places from it. Flat nice as in photos. Very kind and helpful owner.
- Sarah (10/5): Phenomenonal Stay in Istanbul - Wow! What a fantastic place to stay in!
THERE ARE SEVERAL FLIGHTS OF STAIRS INCLUDING A NARROW STEEP CLIMB INTO THE APARTMENT!
I've highlighted that because this alone would exclude it as suitable for some people.
But it is so worth it for the views.
The apartment is basic but very clean, comfortable and spacious. The kitchenette has everything you need to cook with, and with several small supermarkets nearby, it's a great way to save some money.
The bathroom is clean and shower pressure is great. The water does on occasion turn off, but not for long and not often.
The views! Omg. From the bedroom, the kitchen and balcony. Every window has stunning views.
The balcony is a great place to relax to watch the sunrise and sunset, not to mention watching Istanbul light up as the sun goes down. The Blue Mosque is clearly seen, which is phenomenonal.
Aydin, the owner, is so incredibly welcoming and helpful. And his neighbours are so friendly and helpful, despite not knowing a lot of English.
The Grand Bazar is a 5 minute walk and the rest of the cities highlights are incredibly close.
It's also basic. It's not the Hilton. But it's charm is quintessentially Turkish. If you have realistic expectations, you'll love it as much as we did.
The surrounding streets are in a residential neighbourhood with stores. It is busy with families living life. Some people may not be happy with this due to the rubbish and noise (especially during the day).
If you really enjoy experiencing the cities you visit, you can't go past staying here.
We loved Istanbul and our stay at Istanblue was a big reason for this. We loved it all. But it is so important that people are aware that this is a multi floor walk-up around spiral stairs. High level of mobility required, especially as you need to carry your own luggage.
- Kirill (7/5): Good place with a perfect view but not for all - 1. Beautiful view from veranda;
2. Good location: easy to get to the main museums and sightseeing;
3. Good kitchenware;
4. Friendly helpful owner; 1. In january it was cold inside the apartment (we very often used air conditioning for heating);
2. Some problems with electricity;
3. Steep stairs (it was not a problem for us but some people can have problems to get the 7th floor)
- Lisa (1/5): Very Disappointed - The person was friendly and tried his best to assist us. However we did NOT stay at this property. We had to walk up a spiral staircase with small stairs to the 3rd floor and then up a fire escape stairs to the rooftop apartment. There was nNo safety rails on the steel fire escake with uneven stairs. . It was basic. We could not get a refund so we were offered another apartment a few kms away. This apartment was recently renovated but not complete. It was in a basement of the building. We had to walk down a spiral staircase to get to it. The front door handle was about to come off. Had yo battle to open and close the door. No air-conditioning. It had very good wifi. We stayed there 2 nights and checked into a 4* hotel, thereafter. Everything! The apartment. The location was terrible. The taxi from the airport dropped us in the middle of an industrial area. The brother of the person came and took our luggage and kept it in his shop. We could not have an early check in. We landed at the airport at 6.30am, and only got our luggage at the 2nd location around 6.30pm. We had to pay 200 Turkish lira. The 2nd night, we had cold showers. No hot water. The hand shower hose was broken. On calling the person to report abt the hot water, he came about 45mins later. Changed the hose and got the hot water system working. These apartments are ok for students who have a very low budget. We booked this apartment based on the reviews on the site. Which was inaccurate.
- Irina (8/5): Good place to relax with a beautiful panorama - 1. Very good location: there are many budget grocery stores and budget Turkish cafes and canteens nearby. Also close to the main attractions.
2. The apartment has everything you need for a long stay: utensils for cooking, washing machine, cooler with drinking water, barbecue and a large terrace.
3. There is heated air conditioning, which helped on a cold night.
4. The apartment was quiet, although there was a noisy street with merchants nearby. 1. At certain times of the day there are problems with the water supply: it will be better for you if you ask the owner in advance about the time of the water supply problems. 2. As previous reviews have said, it can be difficult to climb the stairs especially after a whole day of walking.
3. I found myself in an unpleasant situation with a faulty iron, but the owner promised to put a new iron in the apartment. I advise new residents to check this before ironing clothes.
- Derek (10/5): Incredible apartment, ideal location, superb facilities within apartment. Amazing outdoor balcony! - The exceptional views from the terrace from the apartment of the Marmara Sea and the Blue Mosque. Being able to sit all evening on the terrace and watch the sun set at 8pm was amazing. 5 minute walk to the Grand Bazaar and 10/15 minute walk to the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia Mosque and the incredible underground cisterna basilica. I would strongly avoid this property if you are elderly or infirm. The apartment is on the top (6th floor) of a typical 'tenement' building with a narrow spiral stone staircase (no great problem). But when you get to the access to the 6th floor apartment there is a very, very steep (2 part) metal staircase which would put a lot of people off. I tried to take a picture of the steep staircase from inside the apartment but couldn't because you couldn't see the stairs.
- Manuel (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great room.The host made me feel at home.The location Is simply perfect.
The view is wonderful, in front of the Bosphorus Strait. I will come back
