Guest Reviews
- Thomas (9/5): Highly recommended - Good, quiet location with easy parking. Lovely host. Attractive house and very comfy accommodation. Everything was great. May be relevant to some people that everything is provided for a substantial breakfast which you then cook yourself. This can of course be an advantage too đ
- G. (10/5): -
- Jonathan (10/5): -
- Douglas (10/5): A brilliant place to discover the Isle of Wight from. A wonderful B&B! - Dan was a brilliant host, the house had an excellent location, it was super relaxing and Dan gave us great local advice. Nothing
- Hannah (10/5): -
- Zuleika4 (9/5): Cowes by the sea - Lovely host, Dan, who greeted us warmly and made us feel welcome. Comfortable room and bed. Nice view. V near the sea! Own bathroom. Fab selection for breakfast Nothing. Well, maybe little parking space ( for uncertain parker!)
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional. Dan most welcoming and generous- he even dropped us off at the wedding we were attending. - Everything . Nothing
Sicuramente molto consigliato e rapporto qualità prezzo ottima.
- Richard (10/5): -
- michael (10/5): Excellent in all respects, booked to stay again. - Everything
The room was enormous, the bed was very comfy, lots of wardrobe space and a nice armchair.
Lovely shower.
Dan was very welcoming and generous.
Good breakfast in a very nice dining room.
Full use of the kitchen if I wanted to cook breakfast.
Warm and cosy sitting room. Car parking but it was mentioned on the site so I knew beforehand, just parked on the quiet road so that wasnât a problem.
- Kevin (10/5): Relaxing stay at Cliffside - Dan was very helpful and provided great communication from the moment I booked until we left, he could not have done anymore. He is very accommodating, nothing is too much trouble.
As previously mentioned Cliffside is a minute from the beach and only a 10 minute walk from Cowes town centre. If you walk 20 minutes west along the seafront you come to Gurnard and The Woodvale pub, where you can watch the sunset, have dinner and some good beer.
I would certainly stay at Cliffside again. The weather, we had some rain!
- Louise (10/5): Wonderful! - We couldnât have wished for a better place to stay while on the island! The property was fantastic and in a superb location. Dan was brilliant â an attentive and friendly host who made us feel right at home from meeting him. We would highly recommend staying at Cliffside!
- Nigel (10/5): -
- schryvers (10/5): Zeer goed - De locatie was uitstekend, heel rustig en vlakbij het strand en wandelafstand van het centrum van cowes. De uitbater Dan deed alles om het ons aangenaam te maken. ErNiets

Comfortable, warm, clean. Generous breakfast
Close to the sea. No problems
- JULIE (10/5): Absolutely FABULOUS! - Amazing cosy cottage, great that we had it all to ourselves 𤣠Dan couldnât have been more accommodating, he was so helpful and friendly, even making a special trip to buy some IOW tomatoes for us to try! It was a real home from home where we could relax, we would 100% stay here again in the future. Nothing to dislike!
- Joe (10/5): -
- Kevin (10/5): - The host was an absolute legend, I went to the isle of wight to cycle round and chose Cliffside as somewhere close to the start/finish. Dan was in communication with me pretty much the whole way round and even recommended 'refreshment' stops along the way. Cliffside itself was lovely spacious and comfortable,. I could only wish I could have sampled the local delicacies for breakfast but sadly over slept and had to dash to catch the ferry. Me and a buddy are planning to do the trip again next year and would definitely stay here if available. Nothing
- Henrietta (10/5): Dan was a wonderful host and made us feel so welcome and at home. Thank you for making our stay so easy and enjoyable. - Danâs home was beautiful and remarkable in a perfect location so close to Cowes but not too close for it to be noisy.
- Hugh (10/5): Loved it - Self catering as owner said he would not be there. Food was available. We were able to use his kitchen to prepare breakfast and our two dinners.
Met by Tracy on arrival. Able to charge an electric bike. All good.
- Catherine (10/5): - Great location for absolutely everything.
House is great, Dan the host is very welcoming and always ready to help if needed.
Would definitely recommend. Continental Breakfast every morning if wanted absolutely perfect.
- Claire (10/5): Amazing stay with such attention to detail. Dan was a fantastic host - Location, size, facilities Nothing
- Isobel (10/5): -

- RaphaĂŤl (10/5): Fantastic place in Cowes - We had a wonderful stay as a family!
Dan was incredibly welcoming and accommodating throughout our visit. The house is beautiful, very well equipped, spotless, and impeccably maintained. The location is perfect â just a few minutesâ walk from the heart of Cowes and only a few steps from the beach. We couldnât have asked for a better place to stay. Highly recommended! Nothing
- Hilary (10/5): A retreat where you can completely relax. A short stroll from the beach, wh - A gem! A secret retreat!
Dan is a wonderful host and had thought of all the needs of a weary traveller, including ice cubes and frozen lemon slices for a cool G n T! There was nothing to dislike!
- James (10/5): Good break on our cycle tour - Dan was an excellent host and made us feel at home. We were able to make an evening meal. There was a shed to store our bicycles.
- Phil (9/5): Superb -

- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Suzanne (10/5): It was absolutely magical. Dan made sure I had a fabulous experience. - The location of the property is magnificent. Just steps to the beach and the boardwalk. A quick walk into town for a bite to eat or fun shopping.
The bedroom is large and the bed is very comfortable. The host supplied everything needed for a perfect stay and exceeded my expectations in making me feel welcome. Nothing
- Hill (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly and attentive host. Very well stocked kitchen. Great house, great location. Had everything we could have hoped for. N/a
- Phil (10/5): Exceptional - Dan was an excellent host No radio or television in room
- Simon (10/5): Excellent, possibly the best B&B we have ever stayed in. Dan is the perfect host! - A great location, just a 1 minute stroll from the waterfront and a 10 minute walk into central Cowes. The bedroom was clean and spacious and the breakfast facilities superb. The owner, Dan, was very attentive and ensured our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.
- Mark (10/5): Charming house and great host! - The property is beautiful, nice and quiet and very near the waterfront. Dan is a great host, very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return. Nothing not to like!
- Luke (10/5): Exceptional - I have travelled across the island and found this place unique for a number of reasons. Firstly the feel of the property was homely with a rustic garden and a sense of peace. The home was spacious with good quality amenities. Dan was friendly and polite. The bedroom was huge with the sound of the sea breaking close by. It was close to Cowes centre and had a more personal feel than other hotels. I would highly recomend this and will return in the future.
- Ann (9/5): Very friendly host and interesting comfortable stay - Interesting cottage with pretty garden Nothing
- Ann (9/5): Superb -
- Krisztina (9/5): Charming cottage, beautiful location, great host - The location of this property is great, a quiet street very close to the sea front. Cowes centre is a short walk away. The host, Dan, was lovely, made us feel at home, his recommendation of local restaurants, pubs, walks was very helpful . We had the whole house to ourselves Guests can cook their breakfast; but continental breakfast is served in a beautifully set dining room every morning. Fresh fruit was provided which was very welcome. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge for storing fresh items. The place was clean and nicely decorated. We loved the character of the cottage and the the art too.
Highly recommend!.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yolan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dylan (9/5): Take in The Solent - The location of this property is superb. The host Dan, made us feel very at home and comfortable too. We enjoyed coming down for breakfast; the dining table was set beautifully every morning, and the food provided was generous throughout our stay.
The children loved the outside barbecue facilities and being so close to the beach. To freshen up the accommodation, the curtains need to be washed, lampshades in the main bedroom replaced and clean edges around the shower.
Remove kitchen items from the cupboards that are not used. eg. pots & cutlery, otherwise they gather dust.
- Anthony (9/5): Superb -
- Sachin (9/5): Really good place - Really nice property. Very close to the sea and we get the entire place to ourselves. One big bedroom and one kids bedroom, if required. Fully stacked kitchen. We make our own breakfast. Dan is a really good host. Didn't have any problems.
- Sonja (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kevin (10/5): Made to feel at home immediately, excellent communication superb host. - Everything you would want for a Continental Breakfast with the ability to cook whatever you may want. large fridge for storing fresh items available. The location is absolutely beautiful, very close to the sea front and Cowes but a 10 minute walk away. Very private and a quiet location. Nothing
- Ekaterina (10/5): Amazing place to stay in Cowes - Everything was perfect. The host Dan was very hospitable and kind. The place was clean and nicely decorated. The location was superb, very close to the esplanade.
Highly recommend!
- Amanda (10/5): A delightful property hosted by a warm and friendly Dan. - Our room was very large and comfortable and we pretty-much had the run of the house. Everything was very clean and I loved the decor, so in keeping with the character of the cottage. Dan provided all we needed for a continental breakfast, but he said we could cook eggs and bacon (provided) if we'd like. Dan kindly let us light a fire in his living room whilst he went out, which was lovely on a cold evening. It was a real home from home and we enjoyed our stay very much. Thank you Dan - see you again!
- Alan (10/5): Stay here for a friendly relaxed holiday. - Fantastic location within level walking distance of the West Cowes ferry terminal. Quiet too. Huge bedroom and use of most of the house too. Dan was a very helpful and kind host. Will be back. Nothing
- Natalia (10/5): Excellent location, clean and comfortable, highly recommend! - Great location, situated very close to the beach and only a 10 min walk to Cowes center along the water. The property itself is amazing, and with a lot of character (in a good way! The host Dan was very welcoming, and instantly made us feel at home. The property is exceptionally clean, with all the amenities you might need. It was a really enjoyable experience, would definitely come back and recommend.
- Peter (10/5): excellent host, facilities and location - very good
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Just very relaxing. - Everything you need is there for breakfast, and just a very short walk to the town ( along the seafront) for evening meals and drinks. There was nothing that we didnât like, comfortable, cozy and a friendly host.
- Gelena (10/5): A lovely place to be! - The property is spacious and light, and very comfortable.
- Anthony (10/5): Who needs hotels - Really lovely house and great host. Super location and the sea being so close was wonderful for us Pisceans Not having long enough to enjoy the area
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Great option if you want a bit of peace and quiet, and the ability to self cater. - Combination of a cottage rental and a B&B, which sounds a bit odd, but works well. Breakfast was continental, self service but well stocked. Lovely quiet spot and a very friendly host. Good kitchen for self catering. It is a bit of a walk into town, but that also means it is quiet on busy nights.
- Jennifer (10/5): A perfect place to stay - The property was excellent, perfect location for Cowes town, and the beach. A quiet location not far from town.
The facilities were great, the host welcoming.
- Christy (10/5): A relaxing, enjoyable break. - Cliffside is in a brilliant location, very near the beach and an easy walk from the ferry. Dan was very welcoming and helpful. We got very wet after walking in the rain one morning but were able to come back and dry our things on the heated towel rail and relax in our room before going back to the beach when the weather cleared. We enjoyed our stay.
- Sherry (10/5): Absolutely beautiful accommodation with beautiful landmarks. Would definitely stay again. - Based in a beautiful location with stunning scenery. Very close to the beach. Surrounded by lovely restaurants. Host Dan was absolutely brilliant made us feel really welcome and comfortable. Would highly recommend this property. Absolutely nothing, everything perfect.
- Helen (10/5): Dream holiday by the sea - We had an amazing stay at Dan's charming green guesthouse in Cowes. From the moment we arrived, Dan was incredibly welcoming and did everything to ensure we needed to have a comfortable stay. The room was clean, with lots of space, and full of character with pretty artwork (some even family made), perfectly fitting the surroundings.
One of the highlights of our stay was the hammock in the garden, where we spent several relaxing afternoons. Dan's friendliness and willingness to help with any requests truly made our stay special. Also the guesthouse is only a 1 minute walk from the sea.
If you're looking for a place with a personal touch and a host who genuinely cares about your experience, this is the place to be. We can't wait to return! :) Everything was perfect!
- Peter (10/5): A beautiful place to stay, with a great host. - Dan, the host, is an exceptionally nice and helpful chap. He made us very welcome, and had lots of helpful suggestions. The house is less than a minute walk from the beach, and 10-15 minutes into the throbbing heart of Cowes. The accommodation is lovely, with lots of room. Can't think of anything!
- Robert (9/5): Home from home! - The cottage was like home from home. Dan left everything out for breakfast. Dan was very welcoming. Great location on the edge of Cowes
- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
- Oliwal (10/5): Big room and a stones throw from the beach. - Dan is very helpful and obliging and has a fabulous property. The room is large with everything you would expect.
The property is very close to the beach, and I mean very. It's just a few doors up and has off street parking in his car port so no seagull poop to worry about!
Dan even let us borrow his canoe for its maiden voyage and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay.
We would have stayed longer if time permitted and will definitely check out his availability if we're ever back on the IoW. Can't think of any negatives.
- Guido (10/5): A lovely cottage and friendly host! - The cottage is lovely and the host is very friendly. Dan makes himself unobtrusive but we had a chance to chat with him in the evening and very much enjoyed his company. We also particularly enjoyed the outdoor fireplace! We look forward to coming here again and highly recommend the stay. The only downside to our stay was that it was too short! We regretted only staying one night and will try to come here again for a longer visit. :)
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - Dan, the host, is just exceptionally nice and welcoming. You feel directly like at home when you arrive.
The room was spacious and clean, great bed and linen. The breakfast was also delicious !
The house is super close to the sea , itâs a great spot to visit Isle of Wight
Thanks Dan ! Nothing
- Haggisandketchup (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Sylwia (9/5): Lovely cottage near the beach - Great location and spacious room in a lovely cottage. Even tho itâs a shared cottage it felt quite private. Walking distance from the town centre and few meters away from the beach.
The host was very helpful and friendly - thank you for looking after us!
- Christine (10/5): A great place and a friendly host! - Dan is a very friendly host. He made us feel at home. Bedrooms are very confortable. All is super clean! We loved staying there with our 2 kids after having cycled around Isle of Wight. We loved the location too, only a few steps to the seaside. Dan gave us good tips for a very nice pub at sunset and for restaurants. We would definitely come back in the future! nothing
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (10/5): Just what the doctor ordered! - Dan was an exceptional host looking after our every need. The firepit was burning when we arrived so we just settled in and had a drink in the beautiful garden. The bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathroom large, clean and had a great big shower. Ideally positioned next to the beach for walks and runs along the promenade. It was the highlight of our two days on the island and weâll definitely be back.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect, a short walk into the town center, the house was clean tidy and had an amazing feel to it. The host made us feel right at home from the moment we stepped through the door..our only regret is that we didn't stay another night.
- Mehis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (10/5): We will be back!.. - Breakfast was excellent, a wonderful spread of both Continental and cooked, and eaten at the table in the garden⌠Nothing⌠Dan was the perfect host⌠Welcoming, relaxed and more than helpful⌠We got a full tour and were left to our own devices⌠A wonderful stay at an idyllic cottage a very pleasant walk away from CowesâŚ
- Simon (7/5): Comfortable and quirky - Owner very friendly, helpful and relaxed No tv in bedroom
- Sue (10/5): Excellent. Highly recommended - Stunning house in an amazing location Nothing
- Ian (9/5): Home from home - Our host, Dan, was welcoming and we felt comfortable very quickly. Returning at the end of busy days was more like getting home then returning to accommodation.
My wife was very impressed that there was a diffuser with the hairdryer, which apparently is a big plus. Nothing really. Breakfast was included but basic. However, there is a well equipped kitchen so breakfast can be whatever you want it to be.
- Alexander (10/5): Excellent family-run B&B with a welcoming host - Everything was either in line with expectations or exceeded expectations. But first and foremost, Dan was a wonderful host who went over and above to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
- Katie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (9/5): Highly recommended , lovely place - Arriving and just stepping into Dan's garden gave me a warm fuzzy feeling that this is was all going to be ok.
This is not the place for fans of corporate hotels and sterile, flatpack "boutique apartments". But rather if you want comfortable, relaxing, spacious accommodation with a lovely garden, the sound of birdsong and good conversation then this is the place for you.
The house is situated in a green leafy residential area of Cowes. One minute to the beach. 10 minutes walk to the centre of Cowes. (Walking home from Cowes in the evening along the sea into the sunset was a highlight.)
Overall the house is well furnished with lovely textiles and fabulous paintings -most done by family members.
The bedroom is large, nice cosy carpet, good storage, kettle etc, fresh milk available. The bathroom is not en suite but just next door. Own use. Basin in the bedroom itself.
Plenty of space for visitors to spread out in the garden, dining and sitting rooms. Dan lit a fire in the evening which was very welcome.
Simple but adequate breakfast of cereal, fruit and croissants served in a lovely dining room overlooking the garden.
Comfortable bed. I appreciated the sleep spray! No traffic noise apart from the odd sound from ships at sea.
If you dont want to go to Cowes to eat, there is a hotel two minutes walk away that does meals. A slightly longer walk along the coast brings you to Gurnard with a pub overlooking the sea with a huge terrace. Does food. Great sunset views.
Thank you Dan for a lovely stay. I hope you gave a good season
M Nothing, all was good.
- Jason (9/5): Superb - Dan the host was friendly and helpful. Bed was really comfortable excellent nights sleep.
- Martin (10/5): Great location 10 mins walk from Cowes, nice big room, friendly host. - Great location, nice big room, character house, Dan is a great host. Nothing.
- Michael (9/5): Dan was a great host. Great local information - Nice and clean. Close to town
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Beautiful house and very comfortable bedroom. Dan is the perfect host and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. The location is excellent, close to everything but still quiet and peaceful. Only that we couldn't stay longer!
- Chris (10/5): Excellent late notice stay in Dan's property - Excellent communications, nice comfortable room, clean. Dan couldn't have been more helpful after a very late notice booking whilst I was working on the IOW
Will be sure to come back when working in the ship yards in West cowes! Nothing to report
- Michael (9/5): Would happily stay here again. - Quaint cottage close to the sea; host Dan who shares the property; was great to chat to. Croissants for breakfast with jams etc looked lovely but we wandered into town for a slightly healthier option.
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Nathan (10/5): Staying here I felt I had the house to myself, and the host is great! - Location super chilled
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly and welcoming host
Lovely big room with large very comfortable bed
Great location few minutes from beach and about 15 mins from town centre and Red Jet
A very relaxing stay Can't think of anything
- Roger (8/5): Charming host, comfortable facilities in a good location subject to a few helpful suggestions - Room bathroom excellent. Considerate host I felt the breakfast could be improved with minimal changes. I suggest offering a continental breakfast, cheese slices, meats, bread rolls and perhaps a toaster in the dining room giving guests more choice of menu.
- Bianca (10/5): We found a home on the island of Wight! - The home is great! Dan is a welcoming host, fun and enjoyable to be around. The house is equipped with every possible supply, from food to shower gel and all the way to vitamins and first aid kits. Breakfast feels like if it was done at your own house. Iâd definitely recommend. Nothing to say!:)
