- Mohamed (1/5): - The area had a Mosque and shops near by very convenient Evere thing Lock box sticking the toilet seat broken the towel wet toasted not working no fuse in it
- Michael (1/5): -
- Gemma (1/5): Worst place ever - Nothing No communication, luckily someone in another room helped me as they had a number as the numbergiven doesn't work. No toilet roll. Couldn't see in the bathroom for the dim light. No hot water in the morning. Could've wrote my name in the skirting boards dust. Music played all night. Lots of broken items in room. Awful experience, teenage daughter petrified as it felt so unsafe. Was like a halfway house
- Coleman (1/5): DONT - nothing it was a disgrace
the shower had mould in it
bathroom was not clean
bedroom was horrible it was filthy dirty
bed was broke
needles were left on the outside of the windowsill
rats were surrounding the property
was a shared living room and kitchen and there was other people being very loud banging screaming and shouting the shower had mould in it

- Michael (1/5): The worst stay even worse customer support - Nothing. I've stayed in many dozens of hotels and apartments as a business traveller. This was horrific. First and foremost booking.com. I was locked out of the apartment as the person had changed the key code tomdroo people accessing during daytime hours so was left unable to gain access or contact the owner for 3 hours. Booking.com we're useless. I was awarded £9.83 from booking.com. The room had a missing smoke alarm, missing lightbulbs and light fixture hanging off the ceiling in the bathroom. The sink and shower were filthy. The aprtment block was loud with people coming and going throughout. The bedside table was covered in cigarette burns and the room smelled of damp. This experience and especially how booking.com have dealt with it means I will be terminating mine and my companies use of the platform.
- Caroline (5/5): - How clean it was. No hot water in the shower.
The rooms where cold.
The oven in the communal kitchen didn't work.
I was given the wrong door key to walk in and find someone in my room.
I had been sent to the wrong room.
- Phillip (1/5): -
- Caroline (6/5): - There was no hot water to be able to shower and the rooms sre freezing..other than that there was no issues. Request the shower gived out hot water snd then maybe have some form of heating in the rooms that warmed the rooms up and worked.
- imran (10/5): - 10:10
- Mandy (1/5): Awful and frightening - Nothing When i arrived i had booked a room with a bath. There was no bath and the room was very dirty. The toilet seat was broken. Even worse i was in bed when a man walked in my room stating he had the passcode as he had booked the room for four nights. He hovered until i asked him to leave. I could not lock the room form the inside and so i was awake all night worried he would come in. I am a single woman so was a frightening experience. I contacted the own and no answer. They emailed and said it was sorted and then did not respond.
- Gilly (1/5): -
- Bryn (1/5): Could not enter property - Nothing Everything
- Norbert (8/5): -
- imran (10/5): -
- Joseph (1/5): No Good. - No comment No keys on entry. Locked outside and there was blood smeared all over the door as someone before was trying to break in. When I eventually got inside using another rooms keys, my door was open and the room had not been cleaned from the previous guest.
- h (3/5): They need major upgrades it could be excellent if they invested some money - Cheap price + availability Security was terrible every room had the same security code
Couldn’t leave belongings safe out of fear they could get stolen
- Katia (1/5): -
- Bridget (4/5): - It had hot water and the sheets were clean. The smoke alarm was torn off the ceiling. The ceiling lamp was hanging down (as if someone had looked for something in it). The window to the roof was open behind the blinds, which was creepy. The building smelled quite bad, like dog poo. The neighborhood did not feel particularly safe. There is also no on-site parking.
- Mike (1/5): ROOM DOUBLE BOOKED - NO REFUND - NOTHING - ROOM DOUBLE BOOKED - NO REFUND ZERO - ROOM DOUBLE BOOKED - NO REFUND
I have stayed at The Woolpack ten times since last November (see my review from 14 Nov). It's very basic, a bit scuffy, but cheap and fine a business stop over for the occasional night.
HOWEVER... I was booked in for 19 March 2026. They sent me the code for the Room 2 keysafe. When I arrived (7:30PM), the keysafe was empty and somebody else was already in Room 2. I phoned The Woolpack via the phone number on Booking.com (five times) but got no reply. I messaged them, then - needing a room for the night - booked into the local Travelodge. The Woolpack phoned about 15 minutes later to apologise and agreed to a refund. They also later confirmed the refund via two WhatsApp messages.
One month and countless messages later, still no refund. I have asked Booking.com to look into this, but The Woolpack has refused to respond to their communications. I WILL NOW NEED TO PURSUE THIS THROUGH THE SMALL CLAIMS COURT.
As a regular (up until now) guest at The Woolpack, I have noticed that the codes for the keysafes rarely change, possibly meaning that a previous guest could take a chance and open the safe on a later date for a free stop over. I don't know if this is what happened on 19 March, but it seems possible. On previous visits, I have been given access to keys in a keysafe which opened a room that somebody else was already staying in. It all feels very slapdash. Add to this smoke alarms are often wrapped in gloves, socks and plastic bags (presumably by guests wanting to smoke in their rooms), the outside looking like the local tip with rotting old furniture, and windows that don't close.
Needless to say, I won't be staying again and urge others not to bother either.
- Craig (5/5): -
- Richard (2/5): Not good - It's cheap) affordable - quite a lot cheaper than the next cheapest We couldn't get in. There is no staff at the property.. You can't ring them.
They don't give you the code for the key box unless you contact them. .
We worked out that the only key in the key box was a key to the front door which was unlocked anyway - no key to the room - so the key box was pointless/ no help at all.
I messaged them again and told them that that we couldn't get in the room.
I got a message back saying tryi ringing in
12345 # ( it's guessable(
Finally, after a lot of faffing around, we got into the room..The bed wS broken - the head board had come away from the wall. The mattress wasn't good.
There was a used needle on the floor near the bed/headboard.
It wasn't clean - the floor had not been vacciumed..
In the kitchen, there were cockroaches and other I sects on the kitchen tiop ( where the hob is).
The bin hadn't been emptied - There was no bin bag in the bin - so I couldn't even take the rubbish out myself. The kitchen smelt bad ( in my opinion).
Veined the kitchen, there was a headboard dumped in the area were the sofa and TV is.
Then a man came - he said he had come to fix a leek - he asked my partner if sshe knew where the leek was
It was incredible - shockingly bad
- Ian (1/5): - Nothing None existent communication from the property. The host failed to text or call me as I requested on Friday.
Instead on Saturday the day of stay, they messaged me in the afternoon via booking.com. On Saturday I was driving up from London so had no internet access, hence my specific request for the host to call or text me. On arrival in Huddersfield, I called the hosts mobile number several times and it immediately went to answer phone, as it did all every time I tried to call from Wednesday prior to the Saturday planned stay, when I left a voicemail also, which was unanswered.
Subsequently had to use accommodation elsewhere in Huddersfield. In view of poor communication from the property, I have complained yet received no response whatsoever in 10 days, no refund or credit for future use.
Anyone interested in booking this property, don't bother; Awful service and customer care/communication. That will teach us to chance the cheap option.
- imran (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): -
- Bryn (1/5): Horrible - Nothing dirty outside Outside absolutely filthy
- Nyah (8/5): -
- Carl (10/5): -
- Jobson (1/5): -
- Christopher (1/5): -
- Jasmin (7/5): Good little 1 night stay for the price - Good for money and decent size room The mattress was uncomfortable as it was dipping in the middle and it too hot in the room
- Aliyan (7/5): Nice in budget - It was easy to acces and in a nice location with local markets nearby the host even let us check out 1 hour late The toilet was a bit old and the mattress was uncomfortable
- Julia (1/5): Privacy not included - As basic as it gets, I got what I paid for. There were no given instructions on how to actually enter the building- I was stuck outside for an hour before finally being provided the missing instructions and passcodes. I had to figure out myself how the doors worked, afterwards I realised that the beds were not made, no shower products were provided and it really was just bare essentials. There are rats in the walls, you can hear them running about and scratching- there are bugs everywhere, too. The only decent part is the living area. While I was sleeping, someone else entered my room- I had locked the door and left the key in it. This person claimed the room was theirs to begin with, and asked me to leave. I believe they were not given the number of their room or their key, but a passcode that worked [mine didn't when I tried using it], meaning that anybody could enter your room regardless of if they have a physical key or not. I also realised that the front door is unlocked at all times, meaning it needs no key to open. It's mind blowing to me how such a huge safety concern is able to stay unreported here.

- Glen (1/5): - There were bugs and place was unclean.

- abdul (10/5): -
- Mohammed (1/5): -
- Morris (2/5): - Nice and quiet, good location The advert said dressing gown slippers and toiletries, no dressing gown or slippers, toiletries was a mucky drop of mouth wash, drop of bubble bath and hair conditioner, no fire alarm it was broken and half of it was in bathroom cabinet, no bulb in lamp, bottle of empty Stella in bedside cabinet, cig burns on top of cabinet, sink in bathroom was blocked, shower no hot water, bin in bathroom was full of tissue and used sanitary products, messaged them just a little message saying sorry about no hot water
- Jo (9/5): Warm room , comfortable bed and clean - Nice warm room comfortable bed and clean.
Kitchen and living room nice and TV enormous
Good kitchen facilities can self cater Nothing
- petre (1/5): - Disgusting not clean room, hair all over the bed ,bedside dirty, smell in the room, couldn’t sleep left the key back I went to get host different place
Never go again, host even don’t want to pay back my money ,they only said they get back never get back
I will never go again with this host Hair all over the bed
- Jason (7/5): -
- John (4/5): If you're on a budget, and don't mind roughing it - it's passable (just) - It was cheap. There was nothing else to warrant a positive rating for this one. I suppose you could say it was free to park (on street parking with no charge or restrictions). To call this one basic is over-egging it. It's a room with a bed. No TV / No drinks facilities / Towels were clean but crusty (dried on a radiator?). The windows were filthy on the outside, and it didn't look at all welcoming, with rubbish overflowing from bins at the bottom of the steps, and a strange (horrible) smell coming from the communal kitchen, i can only attribute to an overflowing waste bin at the entrance.
- Jessica (1/5): -
- Ellie (1/5): Avoid at all costs! - I ‘stayed’ at your property on Saturday and left after an hour. There was a hole in the wall, the window didn’t lock and there was a hole in the window sill where someone has blatantly tried to climb in or out, the bedside table was covered in cigarette burns and the bathroom was disgustingly. Your listing is nothing like what we experienced!
- Kenneth (8/5): -
- Ahsan (3/5): Snow dark good - Property is clean bar bed mattress is a shit uncomfortable
- Stephen (10/5): The location was perfect for me. The room was clean, spacious, and, ccomfortable. - I didn't have breakfast Nothing

- Azizunnesa (5/5): -
- Chadderton (1/5): Shit - Needs new beds tv in room no The room
- JOHN (1/5): - Absolutely nothing Very unsafe to stay, very dirty house, most rooms were occupied with drunkards and they were shouting all night, hitting their foot on floor, banging doors
- Zsolt (1/5): Do no go there not recommend at all. - Nothing. It was dirty, stinking, cold, etc. rubbish It was dirty, stinking, cold, etc. rubbish there was a hungarian couple all day long shouting screaming maybe the women was prostitute as mans coming going inside every 20 minutes and they scream loud all day long on their language
- JustiBosco (1/5): Worst place in the UK for accomodation avoid at any extra cost for peace of mind - Nothing My booking was confirmed and when I reached around 10.30pm after working for 12hours shift find out my room was given to some one else due to some double booking the person who is looking after the property never contacted booking.com or myself to say this is the case I only found out by 10.30pm by this time it was too late and I have to contact booking.com then they have to contact this property management took around 1hour and then i found a place by this time it was already 12.00am in the midnight. Avoid this place
- Steven (8/5): -
- Sarah (1/5): Do not advise and would not recommend - Definitely would not rate this property On arrival all looked good. Until I seen the water leak stains all over the ceiling near bedroom door. Also looked as the bedroom door frame had previously been damaged as frame near lock side not secured on wall properly.
Then the worst thing possible happened on the second night there. A random man in the living room / kitchen smoke cannabis. The owner responded well to this but unacceptable. I had my 11 year old daughter with me. Police everywhere.
I was offered a free take away meal courtesy from owner at a place they chose. Only to be told the night of ordering food, it’s was closed due to maintenance work. How convenient!!!
I was up at 6am every morning and out the door by 8am. Not hearing anyone awake but on leaving the property, main door unlocked each morning
(Did not take pictures of door frame)
- Angelique (2/5): - Easy to contact Not much utensils, lounge area dirty and nothing usable. Bed was the worst. Rooms were not up kept at all.
- Kirsty (1/5): We left and had to book somewhere else. - Nothing The beds were collapsed. We had to book somewhere else. Complete waste of money!

- Abidemi (1/5): The poorest Airbnb ever - The location is ok Nothing to like in the apartment. The window was not closing and there was a big hole on the wall of the room I was in. The apartment has a strong smell of cigarettes .
- Noel (2/5): Very disappointed, felt cheated somehow. It was advertised as a warm cosy pub, but really was a dump round the side of a - The location The actual Woolpack pub itself has been closed for years. Very misleading picture and description. It’s not in/a pub whatsoever. The toiled seat wasn’t on the toilet. Both beds had smashed/broken frames, I had to put the mattresses on the floor.
- Orsos (10/5): - Meg vagyok elègedve! nincs olyan
- Mike (6/5): Not going to win awards, but OK for a cheap overnight bed near the town centre. - November stay, lovely and warm throughout. Very basic but clean and in a good location for the town centre. Easy key collection via key safe and emailed safe combination. I have rebooked for a further business stop over, purely based on the price. Very sub-Travelodge, but fine for a night. Room 3 (at the front) is on a fairly busy road. Traffic noise kicks in at about 6am.
- Christopher (9/5): -
- Maham (8/5): All in all it was good. - My stay here was good. I read mixed reviews but my stay was quite good. Free WiFi, clean kitchen and nice room. I requested a check out at 12pm as I had a flight to catch. That wasn’t approved.
- Mohammed (3/5): Good for the price - Average not the best but not the worst Parking is a issue
- Olha (9/5): - failed to close the window completely
- Robert (7/5): - Easy check-in instructions
- Rdee (3/5): Disappointed - The whole house was very cold the heater wasn’t coming on, also the windows are damaged and not closing, therefore flyers keeps enters the room. Sort out the heat service in the house
- Michael (6/5): - Emolacement Odeur de tabac et froid
- Crystal (1/5): Do not bother its not for a family - Firstly I got to the place and I put the code in and there was no key for my room 1 had to get get a key for room 2 there was a man in my room I explained he was in my room he showed me his booking they had booked the room twice so I had to stay in room 2 which wasn't convenient the man had a prostitute in with him I told the owner he said he would sort it also promised a refund but said I could go in to room 1 said sorry no not with my young child the lady came in and just took the bedding off and not even washed it just hung it on the radiator also i was woken up a few men in the building trying the handle to get in that made me anxious The whole place was disgusting the owner dont care about anything I wanted a relaxing weekend but I was scared and anxious now im left out of pocket as ive been promised my full refund
