Guest Reviews
- Adam (10/5): Superb hospitality - One of the most memorable places I've stayed. A beautifully built house with fantastic hospitality from Mamarasta and Combo. I was especially grateful to be allowed a few hours' rest after my checkout time ahead of a night flight. Highly recommended. Only one note of caution - if staying in the dorm, it's at the top of a ladder through a hatch - quite tricky to negotiate, especially in the dark with luggage!
- Abigail (10/5): - Helpful, kind and exceeded expectation.
- Guest (10/5): Sembra di essere a casa!Mamarasta è una di quelle persona che è veramente un piacere conoscere! -
- Malin (10/5): Paradise in Bwejuu Zanzibar - I love this place been here for the second time and can’t find any reason to try something else. It’s a calm place close to the beach included in the village Bwejuu. It’s really genuin, they have natural and excellent food from there own garden. The design are simple but artistic and the host is so nice and gave us excellent tips when you go budget.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Piet (10/5): Exceptional - It was for us a fantastic nice place, it was like a home with mamarasta and Kombo. Can recommend everybody this experience and feeling it's a gem in this world.
- Isabelle (10/5): Exceptional - The most lovely Host ever and an amazing Breakfast. Beautiful and comfortable house and garden. We were helped a lot with planning daytrips. It truly felt like home.
- Ginnie (10/5): A good place to start your travels in Tanzania. - We started our Holiday here at Mamarasta and could not have wished a better place. Lovely breakfast and also Mamarasta and Combo is very helpful with everything from buying SIM-card to arranging good (and fair priced!) tours.
We had a room with a small balcony and enjoyed that a lot in the evenings. The room has a fan, but it does get very hot during the night.
When you are in Tanzania for a while you get used to it. But when you have just arrived it does give you some har nights (in january).
- Kinga (10/5): Amazing stay ♥️ - Everything! The property is managed by fantastic people ♥️ very friendly and helpful at every stage of our travel. We loved these calm evenings with talks with the owners. The place is super close to the beautiful beach, we had amazing breakfast every day with fresh fruits. The owners helped us to organise every trip and recommended a very nice tuk-tuk driver . We enjoyed every moment spent there. I recommend this place and wish to be back there one day! Thank you for our stay ♥️ Nothing!
- Alicia (10/5): A home faraway from home 🤩 - I had such an amazing time at Mamarasta’s place. It felt just like at home and everyone was so kind, it was exactly what I was looking for and even better ☺️ The location, the food, the garden and the room were just great, thanks a lot for everything and I hope to see you and your wonderful guests again 🤩
- Maeda (10/5): Exceptional - Mamarasta was an absolutely wonderful place to stay!
The atmosphere, the food, and the staff ware all Amazing and so kind.
The other guests who stayed there were also incredibly charming and lovely people.
Although I only stayed for two days , the time I spent on Zanzíbar Island and at this guesthouse was truly a happy and memorable experience for me.
Even though my English wasn’t perfect , everyone was patient and took the time to listen to me.
Thank you so much everything!
- Oaalex (10/5): Great place - Mamarasta and Combo are super friendly. Great place to relax, just couple minutes walking distance to the beach.
- Maj (10/5): Exceptional - This place is an oasis full of very beautiful art and small well placed details. Just a short stroll from a nice local beach. The room is spacious, and there are nice hangout areas with hammocks. Mamarasta & Combo took very good care of us both as we were in a very bad flu during our stay there. -
- Jennika (10/5): Relaxed life - The place felt immediately safe and like home. Deco, garden and food was perfect. Very clean. Owners are very heartful people and are always ready to help. I would come back any time. Bjewuu is good spot for peaceful beach life and also near from Paje, where there is more services. There can be noises from the road during the night, but you get used to it.
- Caterina (10/5): We couldn‘t ask for better! :) - We planned to stay one night at Mamarasta, but we ended up to stay 3. Really nice and welcoming people, they gave us many tips during this time. Bwejuu is a calm village, authentic and far away from tourist crowds. From there we could also easily reach other nice places on the east coast. Totally reccomended! :)
- Sachin (10/5): Great stay at Mamarasta!! -
- Dosch (10/5): Exceptional - Mamarastas Hostel is a hidden gem! It’s quiet, beautifully designed, and surrounded by nature. Just a 5-minute walk from the beach, it offers the perfect blend of relaxation and convenience. The food and drinks are top-notch, and the breakfast is simply amazing. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway!
- Honoka (10/5): Paradise - Mamarasta is paradise for people who want to stay in the cozy place. House is so nice and clean tree house. People are so sweet, they always helped and cared about me. Also the foods are excellent. Room is clean. Location is near to the beach, but not noisy at night because Bwwjuu is local place and there are few tourists.
- Antonia (10/5): Exceptional - Mamarastas place is just a little paradies. Plants, hammock, fireplace, places to relax. Mamarasta was very welcoming me and showed me around the island and gave me many advices. The breakfast was always fresh and very nice. One of the best things was the quiet and peaceful beach. This is a awesome place for coming down and enjoying the beauty of Zanzibar. Can’t wait to come back!
- Alban (9/5): Very good experience - Very friendly staff and good location
You sleep in hammock or beds, just make sure Slow wifi
- Joe (9/5): A lovely quirky place , obviously built with love . - Mama Rasta and Baba Rasta ( Cosmo) were the most adorable hosts... So much so I had to hug Mama Rasta upon meeting her .
Great company and very helpful and friendly. Nothing.
- Mace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yolonda (10/5): Peaceful and lush environment in a comfortable and well-kept room with an awesome balcony. - The property has been really nicely set-up with little areas to sit and enjoy the beautiful lush setting. The room I was in had its own lovely balcony and was beautifully set-up and very well kept. The owners were very friendly and gracious
- Pavel (10/5): Overall, I think we couldn't find a better place for our Zanzibar adventure - We stayed at this truly hidden gem african accommodation during winter holydays for 16 nights. The place is recently opened and the host is originary from Europe so expect the european cleanness standards. The place is very nice decorated in the african style. The garden is big with enough resting zones. The place is situated only a few minutes walk to the beach and just a few minutes to the main road.
Breakfast was delicious with fresh juices, tea, coffee, local fruits and tasty pastry.
Mama Enza makes such a good team with her partner, Kombo which is a local of Zanzibar. It is wise to have a friend which is a local when you are in Africa. He knows many helpful infos about Zanzibar and he can guide you around the island. He is also a good cooker so you can have local dishes freshly prepared. Both are very helpful and friendly.
Overall, I think we couldn't find a better place for our Zanzibar adventure, taking into consideration value for money, position on the island, hospitality.
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - The vibe of the owner is incredible I feel like at home , everything Wass super clean quite and very nice ! Sleeping in the share room with the hammock Wass a nice experience with the nice views. No hot water in the outside shower but is ok cause the weather is nice
- Altoon (9/5): Superb -
- Grabowski (10/5): Exceptional - Modest but besutiful place for relxing stay. Delicious food, helpfull staff. Be careful booking doorm, it is in hamak...
- Malin (10/5): My second home on Zanzibar - Amazing place, beautiful garden, rooms and decorations, , familyfeeling, very nice hosts and just wonderful place. The only thing, but has nothing to do with this place ,was the road from the main road was very difficult to drive on.
- Sanja (10/5): An oasis of peace and tranquility - There's so much to love about this little paradise. Mamarasta and Combo are the best hosts I've ever had. The place is so peaceful and calming, the rooms are spacious, and the garden is gorgeous. There's a lot of creativity in the house decor. Everything about the place made me feel at home, and I had everything I needed. Wi-Fi works great. The location was great, and easy to get around, with a beautiful beach just a stone's throw away, a main road with mini shops, and a gym/yoga center close by. Also, the food was delicious! Everything about my stay was amazing and I'd go back again in a heartbeat! Absolutely nothing.
- Chvoro (9/5): Great experience with fantastic hosts -
- Rosy (10/5): Exceptional - I loved everything about my stay at mamarasta's and I will definitely be back. Mamarasta is a total vibe, she and Kombo and Mandela make you feel right at home and help you make the most of your time on Zanzibar.
The whole place is super cool, with different places to hang out and hammocks to chill in. There is fresh fruit everyday, you can pick your own passion fruit and the papaya are also grown in the garden. Kombo even makes fresh juice everyday which is a real treat, thank you rafiki.
Mamarastas is in a quiet fishing village close to the beach where you can catch the sunrise and swim in peace. It is also close to paje and jambiani which have lots going on and are easy to get to. I am so glad I got chance to stay with Mamarasta before she gets super popular, I loved the hammock room in the attic and getting to see sunrise from my bed everyday. Thanks for everything ✌🏽💕
- Sato (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast was very good, the room was comfortable and Owner was helpful.I would come back.
- Leonie (10/5): Exceptional - A perfect accommodation for everyone, who looks for a relaxing place on Zanzibar! Great hosts who really make you feel at home, great place (lovely rooms including mosquito nets over the bed, fireplace, beautiful garden), great location (almost any place on the east coast can be visited for a day trip), quiet beach within 5 minutes walking distance, great breakfast (fruits grown in the own garden + local fresh bread + tee/coffee + fresh juice) - just great. We extended our stay and would even have extended further but holidays were over. Nothing
- Catalina (10/5): Beautiful energy, beautiful people, amazing fruit, stunning views, deep conversations with the fire - The location is perfect for holiday’s on an island! It is peaceful and you get to listen to nature to fall asleep and when you wake up..
You would notice in the rest of Tanzania that there is a big problem with very loud music in touristic areas. So I highly recommend this place to those who wish to relax and recover sleep.
Besides, breakfast is full of delicious local fruit and the hosts have the most welcoming energy. You can truly feel like home I guess the only thing not to like is that you have to leave one day..
- Julian (10/5): Exceptional - very quiet location, host is very nice and accommodating
- Slimane (9/5): Superb - A few minutes and I leave this very beautiful hostel...and I hope to return to it again...I spent 3 very wonderful days Elhamdou li ALLAH.,and everything here is beautiful, makes you feel comfortable and relaxed, with the splendor of the decor and the beauty of the surrounding nature... and the proximity to the quiet Nungwi Beach... you can also walk on foot to reach Paje Beach... or you can go to Michamvi Beach by bus and watch the sunset....
And the beautiful thing is that the place is very close to the mosque, so you can pray all the prayers there with a professional imam... and also a few minutes from the city to buy some needs.... and people welcome the guest...
The treatment of Mrs. Mama Rasta and Mr. Combo was very good and you feel at home..
The wifi is very good....
Breakfasts were delicious ..
I recommend this accommodation for anyone who wants to relax and unwind.
I will be back someday, In cha ALLAH...
My regards Slimane
- Dorota (10/5): Natural amazing place - Very quiet and relaxing. Mama is very good and welcome. The room is art. Breakfast and food very delicious. Nice nice
