The electricity was going on and off all night (a problem of the town). The salty water in the showers doesn’t really help you refresh, would be great to have fresh water.

• Marie-Andrée (10/5): L’endroit à aller à El Paredon - Absolument tout était parfait !! Nous avons adoré notre séjour. Le personnel était très accueillant et toujours disponible. La proximité de la plage, les 2 piscines et le cadre de l’hôtel. Le café disponible à la cuisine très tôt le matin même si rien n’est encore vraiment ouvert. La chambre que nous avions était immense. Elle était ouverte avec une salle de bain extérieur. Nous avons très bien dormi et propreté était impeccable. La nourriture était excellente. Il y a quand même les moustiques la nuit, même avec le filet qui est fourni. Mais c’était la chambre que nous avions choisi. Il y avait d’autres choix de chambre qui n’était pas extérieur comme la nôtre. Malgré cela, nous ne changerions rien à notre séjour

There are plenty of chill out areas, good food, variety of pools and things to do. You could even watch the ocean from the hammocks on the terrace.

Possibilité de faire du yoga le matin, des massages à proximité. Nous aurions aimé pouvoir y rester plus longtemps ! Notre chambre etait ouverte à l'extérieur donc pas de climatisation (on a réussi à quand même bien dormir avec les ventilateurs) et bruit extérieur à l'hôtel (mais rien de dérangeant pendant notre séjour).

Notre logement, la Cabanita, était une cabane de luxe tout confort ouverte sur le jardin et situé en hauteur. On s'endort bercé par le bruit des vagues. Sanitaire et douche au rez-de-chaussée. Les extérieurs sont parfaits: 2 piscines avec des poufs, un roof-top avec hamacs et vue sur l’océan, magnifique et luxuriant jardin bien entretenu. Bonne literie. There was construction for a bit in the morning that was really loud for about 30 min or so. But it was during the wet low tourist season, I assume it’ll be all done by November.

I had a superb time just hanging out by the pool, having their great food! It was perfect! If I had to mention one thing it’s that the room in which I stayed is open (which I loved) but it also means you hear a little more. But it’s overall very quiet!

• Cecilia (10/5): - Thank you to the inspiring owners, the amazing staff who adopted us and the extended team who welcomed us with pure warmth at Swell Surf Club. This place is what dreams are made of! 2025 was a rough year for many of us and for us the escape to El Paredon was very intentional. We needed to refuel, recharge and mentally check out. What we did not expect was for the experience to be so magnetic. Swell is an intentional community of beautiful souls who truly enjoy their job and are happy to be there, this energy and their hospitality is what makes the difference for the guest experience. The food and juice menu deliciously crafted by a local chef was our go to every morning. The landscape is so beautifully designed as are all the communal spaces and our room, we coined the walk to the pool “Mariposa Lane.” We are so grateful for this unforgettable stay, it was beyond relaxing. Muchisimas Gracias! May all the future guests love on the land the way you have.

• Malou (10/5): Beste verblijf in Guatemala - Swell was een droomverblijf na de zware Acatenango hike. Super luxe, vriendelijk personeel, goed eten. Heerlijk aan het zwembad liggen in het zonnetje, afwisselend met het strand waar je zo naartoe loopt. Echt een oase aan rust, het was jammer dat ons verblijf hier erop zat!

Everything was clean and good maintained. Despite the heat on the beach, there is plenty of cooling off at the pool. Nothing.

• Femke (8/5): - Very nice hotel with a beautiful swimming pool. The room was spacious and you could get delicious food at the restaurant they have. The bathroom was a bit inconvenient. The tap reaches a bit over the sink, so the floor and your shoes will get wet. The stream from the shower also wasn't very nice, as there isn't a shower head attached to it. Lastly, the cat from the property would come in our room and ate some of our snacks. But oh well, that's the charm of an open palm roof I guess :)

• Noam (10/5): Amazing place! - The place was simply amazing and exceeded all of our expectations. The staff welcomed us with such warmth and kindness. The room was spacious and luxurious, the outdoor shower was refreshing and fun, and the food at the restaurant was excellent. It was also really nice that guests are trusted to take drinks freely and just write it down. I highly, highly recommend it. In addition, during our stay there was a power outage in the town. The staff were very accommodating and agreed to cancel the extra night we had booked (even though it wasn’t their fault at all) and helped us arrange a taxi to our next destination. We truly hope we’ll be able to return again in the future! There is nothing that did not meet our expectations, I would just recommend noting that there is no hot water in the showers anywhere in town, a cold shower is refreshing and nice but it is worth knowing in advance (:

Pool is lovely. The beds were really comfortable and the food is top-notch very healthy, very fresh very flavorful. the beach with a short walk. My so rented a surfboard from Swell one day which was easy and reasonable. We stay in an upstairs Palapa. It was spacious and comfortable with ceiling fans, and rotating fans keeping the mosquitoes at Bay and the temperature comfortable. We did lose power in a storm one night, but the bug nuts kept us protected. The mosquitoes in July are no joke though so bug spray is recommended. The staff, the owners and everyone there could not be more delightful and friendly. The whole place has a spa field to it. It was simply wonderful. I highly recommend. I traveled with my husband and three young adult Children and we all felt it was the highlight of our trip. No complaints except we did invest in bug spray because the mosquitoes definitely found us.

The location is perfect, secluded and quiet but also a 2 minute walk to the beach and in the center of town. Swell itself is nothing short of a paradise, really. • Morgan (9/5): Perfect relaxing splurge for a backpacker - Cannot beat these rooms. Extremely clean, spacious and the outdoor shower brought me so much joy. Staff cleaned the room every day. Bath and pool/beach towel provided was awesome too. A little bit of a walk to the beach, restaurants and other locations in town. The surrounding area felt very safe but getting back at night alone was extremely dark.
• Ben (3/5): Poor - The treehouse accommodation is novel in itself. The reception area is spacious and the location is great My room had a very basic fan and no windows, which made it feel like a sauna. The treehouse had no windows so I was eaten alive all evening. The mosquito net was partially effective but had holes in it. While novel, it’s also very inconvenient to have the bathroom located at the base down a steep ladder. Going to the bathroom at night is not a fun experience. The bathroom itself also felt quite grotty. Laslty, there was no storage or wardrobe whatsoever so I had to sprawl my things everywhere. Nice idea but poor execution. Unfortunately very bad value for money and wouldn’t recommend the stay for £70

The Swell team made us feel home during our 3-day stay despite the recent fire, which also affected some buildings of the Swell compound. Our room near the pool was beautiful, the different options for breakfast, lunch and dinner super-tasty, organization and service flawless - from a introductory surfing course to the on-demand private shuttle transfer from Swell to the airport. Also some of the volunteers were not nice and had an entitlement in the attitude (not helping in check in check out, not answering questions regarding the surfing conditions). Unfortunately even though the rest of the staff, namely the local ones were super nice the french ones ruined the experience
