• Kathleen (10/5): Excellent location, comfortable beds, and plenty of space. - The location is perfect. There is a subway stop 2 blocks away, a grocery store and a laudromat just around the corner, and the walk to the gion restaurants is super easy. I recommend following the canal, it's a beautiful walk in the evening. Everything about the place was perfect.

• stephanie (9/5): - Tres jolie maison bien située. Commodités à proximité, beaucoup de sites accessibles à pied. Un peu plus d'accessoires de cuisine auraient été bienvenus et surtout des lampes d'appoint car peu de lumière et la maison est décorée de couleurs sombres. L'absence de rideaux dans la petite chambre du haut et la lumière de la sortie de secours en face des lits dans la grande chambre. Bref quand on est réveillé il n'y a pas assez de lumière, mais il y en a trop quand on veut dormir! A part ça maison tres agréable.

• François (9/5): À recommander - Emplacement. Calme Confortable. Ambiance et décort purement de style Japonais. Nous étions bien dans un Ryokan. A recommander Attention avoir de la data pour finaliser le montant de l'accomendation et obtenir le code d'entrée.
• Tolkkinen (9/5): Recommend - We stayed at the west wing. Comfortable, good for 2 people. Very nice location! The staff was very kind and let us in a little early when we were feeling under the weather. They also answered questions quickly! Big bonus for the humidifier which saved us from AC illness. The bedroom was a little dusty, but otherwise cleanliness was ok. Lighting felt lacking sometimes. They have two apts next to eachother so there are pictures of two different rooms. Bath is smaller than it looks, take note!
• Thi Phuong Lam (10/5): - It is a perfect choice if you want to try a Japanese traditional home style and it is only 2 minutes walking to subway station and 15 -30 minutes to many famous area so it is convenient to visit anywhere in Kyoto. The house is clean, cozy, well designed and equipped with traditional Japanese style.
• Nobuko (10/5): Quiet, comfortable and extraordinary experience staying at the traditional Machiya house. - Excellent experience staying at the authentic machiya house. Charming backyard garden. Comfortable bathtub. Easy access to subway station and convenience stores nearby. Cozy coffee shops and local bars nearby. Big suitcases should stay downstairs, although the bedroom is upstairs, because the Machiya stairs are traditionally narrow and steep. We wanted to avoid damaging the stairs’ fine wooden materials.

• Meg (10/5): Family Stay - This is the perfect location for exploring the Gion area of Kyoto. It also has the convenience of supermarkets and a coin laundry just a few doors away. Higashiyama Station is just a few minutes walk making it extremely easy to travel around Kyoto or beyond. If you are looking for a cosy traditional place to call home, book here. Just be mindful of no lounge room area if that's what you are after for your stay. Leo met us on arrival and took us through everything we needed to know as well as explained some history of the home which was great. Also do yourself a favour and visit Cafe Green Door just off the cute alley for a morning coffee. Nothing really, maybe a tea towel to wipe dishes would be useful but it certainly didn't ruin our stay.
• Mary (8/5): A terrif, genuine experience in traditional house, well located in Gion. - Genuine original Kyoto home - really lovely and great location (super convenient to bus stop, supermarket, restaurants etc). Easy to contact owners - lovely experience. A smidge challenging to operate some items (mostly our fault because we didn’t read the instructions). The bath didn’t fit any adults our size (taller than usual Aussies) but no big deal. Really no downside to the property.

We would stay again. - The location was fantastic, close to train stations The property was beautifully set out and all the fitting and fixtures were gorgeous. The small garden was a lovely touch especially in the evening.

• Jessica (9/5): This is a beautiful machiya stylishly renovated for comfort and convenience. - I liked the bathroom, the small garden and how quiet yet convenient the neighbourhood was. There could have been slightly more cooking utensils, but overall I have no real complaints!

• J.w.e.m. (8/5): really great place but no communications - The house is in the middle of a classical neighbourhood close to musea and temples. Great location for walks, even in the woods/mountains! All communication is done through a very user unfriendly app. Answers arrive late and direct communication (f.i. phone) is impossible. That is very frustrating.
• Linda (7/5): Location was good but the property was somewhat disappointing. - Location We didn’t have an iron or ironing board and when we asked for one they couldn’t provide one. We also didn’t have any cleaning or housekeeping for our 4 day stay. Also the lack of lounge made it uncomfortable.
• Jessica (7/5): Good - The location is great and very convenient to sights and restaurants near Gion. The street was quiet and the beds comfortable. The place was beautifully decorated. The listing was for two bedrooms; however the bedroom situation is actually one large room partially partitioned by a reed screen. Do not expect the privacy of two separate rooms. There is no cleaning service apart from a weekly trash pickup and no cleaning supplies available, which made it difficult to keep things tidy. Overall it could have been cleaner. The lighting is very dim throughout the hotel. While the decor is pretty, the place is not designed with comfort in mind, and not suitable for a family on vacation.
