Guest Reviews
- Vicky (9/5): - Friendly helpful staff and gorgeous setting. Nothing
- Madara (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay - the place is incredible! And the neighbours night on Thursdays is the best feed you're going to get on the island! The shanty cottages could have an option between twin beds and doubles
- Chris (9/5): - Great location. Very quiet and relaxing
- Fiona (6/5): Aside from these issues, I feel this accommodation has a lot of potential and could be a great option if there was a str - We had a mixed experience here. The room itself was fine and adequately clean, and overall it felt like good value for money. The views were also lovely from our cabin.
Aside from these issues, I feel this accommodation has a lot of potential and could be a great option if there was a stricter hygiene/cleaning regime in shared spaces, enough pest control and clearer communication in the listing. However, we had a bit of a bad time in the kitchen on our first morning. We saw a big dead rat in a trap under the cooker in the kitchen, and maggots on a chopping board, which understandably put us off our food and made us uncomfortable using the facilities. So much so that we actually ate out for breakfast and dinner the following day. We didn’t really encounter any staff or manager around to give them a heads up.. but two days later the rat was still unfortunately in the same place. I don’t like to leave these reviews but I think it’s important for others to know and hopefully this review will improve things for future guests.
Also, we were unaware when we booked that the accommodation is part of a Christian community, which may be important information for some guests to know in advance.
- Rombout (8/5): We'll be back one day! - Like the island, this location on that island was isolated. Plenty choice for bathing, fishing, hiking, etc. Because of extreme weather conditions, no ferry or flights possible. After the 5 nights we had to book another night and spend a 7th night in the car because of the interrupted and changed ferry sailings. An unexpected experience.
- rudy (8/5): - Accomodation hosted by the Orama Christian community, which can be a little surprising upon arrival if you don’t know about it, especially since the place is secluded. The staff is welcoming, we rented a sea view self contained unit which was comfortable if a little bit aged. The place is very beautiful, with incredible views and nice hikes nearby. Note that the creek is not well suited for usual beach activities as it is very rocky.
- Huimin (10/5): -
- Ingo (10/5): Perfekt - Super schöne Lage Nichts
- Andre (10/5): - Ein Paradies!
- Fiona (9/5): Relaxing stay - Great position Nothing
- Katharina (9/5): Sehr schöner, erholsamer Rückzugsort für gestresste Großstädter - Die Lage war unschlagbar und das Cottage war liebevoll eingerichtet. Nichts.
- Lara (8/5): Our stay was all in all a good experience. The staff was very friendly and the views from our room were amazing, especia - the staff was very friendly and the view from the lodge was amazing. Also the amenities were very clean. the room was not so comfortable und in the night there were a lot of mosquitoes, even though we closed all windows
- Catherine (7/5): Nice room, remote location. - I upgraded to a Bayview studio… it was newly refurbished so it looked nice. Also, the sea view, deck, bathroom and kitchen were good. I appreciated having self-catering in this part of the island. I found it difficult to sleep at night due to the mosquitoes. Also the linen sheets were quite hot. The road to Karaka Bay is about a 10 minute drive as you have to drive slowly due to how narrow and windy it is.
- Sunny (8/5): -
- Tk (8/5): Family getaway Esater Break - Awesome location.
- Naoki (10/5): We can chill out in calm atomosphere! - best location! cold shower
- Anna-may (10/5): Will be back again and again - Such an incredible accommodation, perfect and idyllic for a relaxing family holiday. The rooms were light, bright, comfortable with good amenities and amazing views. The grounds were wonderfully maintained with lots of space for children to play, and the staff were so kind and friendly. N/a loved it all
- Shalini (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (8/5): Fantastic people and food -
- Jarvis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janice (8/5): We loved it. It was so peaceful, yet there was so much to do. - Loved the location and the accommodation. Good value for money. Communication about what to expect. We were told there was no bedding and towels, so brought it with us. Pleasantly surprised to find the bathroom right next to the room, so no need for robe and slippers.
- Natalia (1/5): No good unfortunately, would not recommend -
- Maria (10/5): Peaceful holidays - Amazing people and community, lovely place to stay, relax, be happy and enjoy the sunset everyday.
- Robert (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff. Eager to help and make you feel welcome.
Stunning location. Quiet and tranquil. Toilets and showers were quite far from my room. Shower was lukewarm (which was painfully disappointing as my main reason for staying was to utilise the showers between multiday hikes).
No cooking facilities.
Interruptions to internet was inconvenient. No cellphone reception in room.
Power only available when generator was running (no batteries or solar/wind/etc).
Windows not shutting properly meant waking up to mosquitoes.
