- Lotte (10/5): - This place is just amazing!
- Francesca (9/5): Spending the night in a traditional Japanese house was truly a dream come true! We loved every moment, everything was ju - The house is really beautiful! It was an amazing experience!!
- Florian (10/5): - Historical house. Clean. Super friendly host. A bit cold during colder seasons, but every room was equipped with portable heaters.

- Siow Wei Evelyn (10/5): Thank you for the lovely stay, will recommend it to our friends - Host was very helpful to provide useful information about nearest restaurant and supermarkets. Host also replied to my messages promptly. House was clean and comfortable with many heaters provided. Having a washing machine was a bonus for this stay. Nil.
- Ah Choo (10/5): - The owner is very friendly and helpful.. And the house very authentic.. we surely will recommend to friends
- KUNLIN (10/5): -

- Andrew (9/5): - This place is a great experience - staying in a Japanese house rather than a boxy hotel. The futons were comfortable, the host was very helpful explaining the facilities. Excellent place, pity we only had one night.
- Terri (10/5): - Beautiful Traditional Japanese House which is the highlight of our trip to Kochi. Very spacious and fully equipped which my family enjoyed the stay.

- Matthew (10/5): Incredible house near the Iya valley - Our family adored our stay here! The house is incredible— cozy, functional, well designed and historic all in one. We really enjoyed spending time just at the house, especially after long days exploring the Iya Valley. Nothing
- Kenneth (10/5): Excellent traditional house. - This traditional Japanese house was extremely comfortable and fun to stay in. The rooms are spacious. The bathroom and toilet rooms are excellent. The kitchen is small but has many useful appliances, dishes, etc. The location is great for going into the mountains or down the valley, but I would say that a car is highly recommended. This is a very small dislike: our host was very thorough and very friendly but he seemed very rushed, like he couldn't wait to get back to something else he was doing. However, when we had an issue getting the AC going, he was back very fast to help us.
- Andriani (10/5): If you want to experience a stay at a Japanese villa, this is the place to stay - The house was beautiful and the hosts were extremely helpful and kind. Excellent location , close to shops and very quiet neighbourhood We liked everything
- Dotan (6/5): Nice place in Miyoshi. But this is not a city hotel... - The place is nice and affordable. The place is a bit old...
- Alban (10/5): - Felt like home!

- charlotte (10/5): - Ravissante maison ancienne japonaise.
- Elisa (10/5): - Proprietari davvero gentili e premurosi.

- andrea (10/5): - Beautiful house in traditional Japanese style, with spotless services (fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, laundry, little outside garden etc.). The highlight is the decorated central room, that can be partitioned into two separate ambients if necessary. Very gentle and helpful owner. Excellent starting point for explorations in the Iya Valley and surroundings. Nothing at all.

- Andreas (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful host, wonderful house - just too little time to explore everything that we wanted on Shikoku
- Oliver (10/5): A Peaceful and Authentic Stay in the Heart of Shikoku - After a busy week exploring Japan’s major cities like Tokyo and Kyoto, my father, uncle, and I were looking for a quieter, more authentic experience—and this beautiful traditional guesthouse in Miyoshi, Shikoku, turned out to be the perfect choice.
The house is a charming two-bedroom traditional Japanese home with tatami rooms that truly capture the spirit of old Japan. I’ve stayed in similar homes before and always loved their unique atmosphere, but for my father and uncle, who were visiting Japan for the first time, it was both a fascinating and fun experience. Since we’re a tall family, adapting to the lower door frames, smaller room heights, and the cozy, compact design of the house added an extra layer of adventure. It was a great way to experience firsthand how people lived in the past and to appreciate the traditions and culture behind this style of living.
The house itself was very clean, cozy, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The small garden added a peaceful touch, and the kitchen made preparing meals easy whenever we didn’t feel like eating out. The owner was incredibly kind and responsive, always quick to answer our messages and provide anything we asked for.
Miyoshi is a quiet town, but it has everything necessary for a convenient stay—two large supermarkets, several restaurants, and even a Lawson convenience store just around the corner. I highly recommend renting a car to explore the surrounding area, as Shikoku’s natural beauty—with its mountains, rivers, valleys, and temples—is best experienced at your own pace.
In the end, what makes this house truly special is its calm atmosphere. It’s not a place filled with distractions, but rather a peaceful and comfortable space waiting to be filled with life, laughter, and meaningful memories. Whether you visit with friends or family, this guesthouse offers the perfect setting to slow down, reconnect, and experience a more authentic and heartfelt side of Japan.
- Di (9/5): Superb - Garden is super cute, bathroom very very clean.
Whole experience is quite unique to stay at an old house, and the stay is quite comfortable.
- Annelies (10/5): A unique and comfortable stay with a warm welcome in a great location. - Unique stay in a beautifully preserved old Japanese sake brewery
Very spacious and clean house with a fully equipped kitchen
Comfortable futon beds
Friendly and welcoming host
Great location for a road trip stop Nothing to mention — it was a great stay
- Yi-hua (10/5): Exceptional - Traditional Japanese house vibe 🥹 No
- Tyler (10/5): Exceptional - This home is beautiful. Access to the entire floor plan was an amazing value. This would be a great option for a traveling family. The host was extremely kind and punctual, making check-in and check-out a breeze. There is just something special about staying in a traditional home like this while exploring the Japanese countryside. You can tell the host cares a lot about maintaining the property and really earns respect and satisfaction of guests. Will stay here again if I return to Shikoku.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing old house full of tradition yet equipped with all new and well maintained facilities: ac, bathroom, tv with internet and guest access to streaming, well equipped kitchen.
The owners are very kind and explained everything thoroughly. Location is good base for exploring north east Shikoku by car albeit located in bit boring city and not many eating options nearby . If looking for some food either head for the nearest udon restaurant or go for those plentiful convenience stores or supermarkets and dine in this marvelous house!
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Lovely hosts, clean, a great Udon restaurant nearby (had to drive to) Couldn’t get the room dark enough because of outside light, no comfy chairs (which seems typical for Japan), location was next to an apartment building
- Alison (10/5): We could have stayed for a week - Authentic, traditional house in amazing condition. Very well cared-for, with good amenities. The owner was very attentive and a good communicator.
We enjoyed the view of the garden from the side of the house. They have a smart tv, which was nice in the evenings. No complaints, but it might be nice to have another beanbag for tv viewing :)
- Rachael (9/5): Superb -
- Vanessa (10/5): Exceptional - Hosts were very friendly. The house was spotless and it was in a good location for hiking and sightseeing. Well stocked kitchen. Nothing
- Xinhe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (10/5): If you want a quiet, reasonably priced accommodation to explore the Iya Valley region, this is it! - The hosts were very attentive, very kind, easy to communicate with. The home was a wonderful, historic, traditional 110 year old Japanese home. The location and atmosphere were perfect and great value! Everything was great!
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Good communication. Lovely house, two spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchen. Plenty of bedding. Separate toilet.
- Nevena (10/5): Charming old house with a great host! - The house was beautiful- old style, at the same time it had all modern facilities. Beautiful Japanese garden. And an amazing host. She even accompanied us to the local hospital. She would immediately reply to our messages and guide us with an advice. Very kind person. She also speaks English! Thank you so much for your help and kindness! Nothing.
- Lowe (10/5): Peaceful part of paradise - Lovely place to stay, very friendly and helpful hosts with excellent English, which is always a big bonus in a fairly remote part of Japan.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Highly recommend - The house is so cute and is at such a nice location. Hosts were so friendly and helpful, such lovely people.
Is an awesome experience being in this 120 year old house and we all slept so well on the futon beds. Highly recommend. We will be back if we visit Japan again in the future :)
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Everything!
Very comfortable with everything provided for an easy Japanese experience. Very helpful hosts. Nothing.
- Laurent (7/5): Hosts are great. House could be better. - Traditional Japanese house, large and beautiful.
Well kept.
Hosts speak English, and are attentive and very helpful.
Ample free parking space. - No heater (even a small portable) in the bathroom.
- On our second morning, there was no more hot water. We were leaving, so too late to contact the host. But early January in a cold bathroom without hot water is not ideal.
- Kitchen has ample space to put a table or a console. As it is now, there is no place to put plates or what you are using, while cooking.
A little attention to these details would make a big difference.
So far, it's too expensive for what you get.
And until bathroom heating is installed, this house is not made for winter.
- John (8/5): Great location, responsive owner, extremely clean house - Great location, very comfortable house, super clean Cooking stove not good as the heating power was weak and unable to cook meals
- Tobias (9/5): Superb -
