Guest Reviews
- Margaret (10/5): Loved the atmosphere and beauty of this place. - Beautiful 4 room cottage with others built into stone farm buildings. It is located minutes from Beaatrix Potter’s Hill Top Farm. Stunning scenery. Close to the Windermere ferry.

- Neil (8/5): Lovely pleasant stay and we were blessed with very good weather. Beautiful surroundings and a very pleasant stay - Very comfy apartment . Clean and tidy with a beautiful outlook onto the estate .
Nice easy walk down to the lake and some lovely walks right on the doorstep plus a pub within a 5 minute walk . Hawkshead a short drive away for a supermarket and lots of other shops and bars . Being on a the ground floor you could hear lots of noise from people above .
- Angelika (8/5): A good accommodation in a great location. - This cottage is situated in a beautiful part of Lake District. It has a great parking space and communal garden (a good space for a dog to run around). There are many public footpaths not faraway from the property. The kitchen was well equipped and the rooms were clean. It would be nicer if the living room had a wooden flooring rather than a carpet.
- Jamie (10/5): Great Place - The accommodation has everything you need and the location is really central and has so much on its door step. Nothing!!
- S (8/5): Great location - Amazing location, lots of outdoor space where you could sit or walk including being able to walk down to the lake
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay and will definitely return in the future! Thank you :-)
- Tanith (9/5): Lovely short break - Property was warm and comfortable with all we needed. Nice that the heating was on for when we got there.
Lovely quiet location but near enough to lots of places to visit. Even nice to just walk the estate and enjoy the views. Would recommend and return.
- Linda (9/5): We loved our little home and hopefully will return for a fourth stay! - It was cosy and very well equipped with everything we needed (except a freezer compartment!) The fridge did not have a freezer compartment and we had an order from Tescos containing frozen foods. We were told about the communal freezer in the courtyard for which we were grateful but it was a long walk in the pitch darkness. Also the shower floor was very slippery especially for my disabled friend. We used a tea towel for safety but a mat would have been safer.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location everything.
- Sharon (8/5): Very good -
- Aaron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is in a beautiful location near Esthwaite water, which is a short walk through the field.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing setting, 2 minutes walk down to a beautiful lake. So warm and comfortable in a truly idyllic setting. Leaving!
- Leigh (10/5): Exceptional - bathroom could have done with a bath mat and maybe some hand towels but apart from that everything was perfect
- Tina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joanne (7/5): Could be perfect - Fantastic location.
Superbly equipped... absolutely every item was thought about and available in the property with a faultlessly equipped kitchen.
Only a few minutes walk to Beatrice Potter's house. Floorboards above bedroom really, really squeaky. Kept awake until the early hours each night (so loud we checked out a day early). No offer of recompense for this. Would suggest only booking an upstairs rental. Unfortunately despite advert stating "one-bedroom house" and "entire home", this property was a flat in a converted building. I would not have booked this had I known there would be other guests above me.
Shop was not on site - would need to drive to this.
Road to the property extremely narrow (single track).
Walk down to Esthwaite from the property was overgrown and impassible.
- Rosie (8/5): Very good - Quiet and peaceful. Well-equipped Bathroom was a bit tired . Tap dripped constantly on basin
- Sally (10/5): A lovely break in a lovely location with beautiful views - The location Nothing
- Foster (8/5): We have known Esthwaite cottages for around 20 years, we liked it so much that we have booked Septem - It was unusually cold for July this year, so we needed to warm the cottage up, the lounge wall heater appeared not to be functioning, so we resorted to using the stove, which was great.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joao (8/5): Beautiful location, great walks, dog friendly. Perfect getaway location. - Location was great, close to the lake. lovely quiet location. sofa was fixed very quickly. sofa leg was broken on arrival, bed wasn't very comfortable, there was no tin opener
- Stuart (7/5): Good -
- Tara (10/5): An absolute dream getaway! - This idyllic cottage offered a peaceful and quiet escape, perfect for relaxation. Its convenient location provided easy access from any direction, and the charming village of Hawkshead, with its Co-Op for daily essentials, was just a 6-minute drive away. The cottage itself was a cozy dream, well-equipped with all the necessary facilities, and came with a thoughtful touch: one bath towel and one hand towel per person together with a washing sponge, dishcloths, and dishwashing tablets too. The guaranteed reserved parking was a huge perk, especially for travelers with a car. There's even a lake nearby, perfect for adding a scenic touch to your walks in the beautiful surroundings. My only suggestions would be for slightly improved ventilation in the bathroom, as it could get humid after showering, and perhaps wider window openings for better air circulation. Additionally, a small light in the common area that is always lit would be very helpful, especially when arriving at night with groceries or luggage.
- Angel (10/5): Relaxed and comfortable. - All kitchen basics provided. Comfy double sofa. Warm house. Looking forward to staying again! The fridge if set at maximun can freeze food at the bottom.
- Rebecca (10/5): Cosy, scenic cottage - Perfect location for beautiful scenic walks. Few minutes walk down to the lake. Cosy fireplace and comfortable bed. Lovely modern kitchen. Love to return. All good.
- Teresa (8/5): A beautiful peaceful location and clean and comfortable apartment - Beautiful views and very pretty , comfortable and clean We took our dog and it rained everyday so because of the mud we had to keep the dog in the small kitchen as we didn’t want to damage the carpets
- Andrew (8/5): Very good - Room only Ideally I wanted twin beds.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Stunning location, view from the grounds is true lakeland. Accommodation is amazing, the owners have really thought of everything. Genuine home from home.
- Penny (9/5): Lovely and peaceful - Location is great, very quiet and stunning views Entrance and bathroom doors could do with some attention, entrance door especially hard to unlock, bathroom door facto be pushed very hard to open and close
