Guest Reviews
- Marta (10/5): Excellent stay! - Excellent! Exactly what we expected
- Lenni (10/5): -
- Catherine (10/5): Lieu EXCEPTIONNEL à tous niveaux - Lieu où tout est exceptionnel! Rien
- Robert (10/5): -
- Nathaniel (10/5): Make a visit to Shoraiso, you will not be disappointed. - Amazing baths, architecture, and ambiance. You feel like you’re the only people there. The service and attention they pay their guests is incredible. The food was excellent, and the overall experience was unforgettable. The public baths next door at Yoroduya were incredible and a very special experience to enjoy. It was well worth staying here! My only complaint is that as a westerner with bigger feet (US11), the slippers available (especially the ones for outdoor use) were all too small. Once I’d taken a pair I felt awkward asking to exchange them!
- Mary (10/5): This is a must-visit A+++ ryokan with outstanding food! - We stayed three glorious nights in this fantastic ryokan in Yudanaka. Everything was A+++ - our room was beautifully designed, spacious and easy to use; the bathroom large and equipped with everything you need; the Kaiseki dinners and breakfast were the best we had in Japan, this chef is a genius, and he even prepared a few courses in front of us! We had a private outdoor bath which was exquisite. The service was excellent, the entire staff so kind and helpful. Worth every penny y and more. Thank you Shoraiso for making our stay perfect! Nothing - everything was fantastic.
- Liza (10/5): -
- Winnie (10/5): -
- Robert (10/5): - The private bath and friendly staff. They even accommodated dietary restrictions for the meals. The location can be pretty remote, but that's not necessarily a very bad thing.
- yoichi (8/5): - 浴場が別館にあるのはマイナス。食事は量が少なめで点数多く満足。
- Lea (10/5): It was an excellent stay and exceeded all expectations. I would highly recommend Shoraiso! -

- KP (8/5): -
- 大崎 (10/5): さいこうです - 朝食、夕食もお部屋で食事でなにもかもが美味しかったです。部屋も広い上に、露天風呂つきでした。 ありません

- Roesch (10/5): Ultra luxury and treated like a king, with amazing food - This resort was unbelievable. My wife and I’s favorite hotel that we have ever been to. There was nothing that we didn’t like about this ryokan.
- Michael (10/5): From the kindness of the staff, the gourmet dining experience, the comfort of our room and the private outside hot sprin - Everything, There is nothing not to like at Shoraiso
- Lesley (10/5): A haven of peace and quiet luxury. - The calm, peaceful and simple luxury. The private onsen and garden in the room are incredibly relaxing. The dinner and breakfast are superb. I have a fish allergy and chef tweaked the menu keeping the quality and range of dishes delicious and exciting.
We stayed in Kiku. Very comfortable futon beds and great sleep.
The staff are superb, kind and professional. Nothing. We wish we could have stayed longer and will return!
- Gordon (10/5): An unforgettable experience and a blessing to have stayed at the Shoraiso - It is by far the most outstanding place we have stayed in throughout Japan. The level of service excellence, the amenities and the attention to detail reaches heights unmatched by any other place we have seen or stayed at.
- Murdoch (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bradley (10/5): - By far the best service and most unique experience from a hotel I’ve ever had. 10/10 next level perfection
- Tess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Outstanding property from top to bottom. Friendly and accommodating staff, beautiful rooms, fantastic food.
A real authentic Japanese Ryokan experience. The rooms have a private hot spring bath and there is the option to use the public baths as well. The private dining experience was first class food and service. The rooms are large and comfortable with everything you need to relax. I think they should offer the pickup shuttle during the booking process. We walked from the train station with 3 suitcases in the snow, which was not that far but uphill and a bit inconvenient. However I should have enquired about this myself so it's really not a big deal and the service overall was outstanding
- Hao (10/5): Exceptional - Great service, nice room and aesthetic building
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yuemeng (10/5): Exceptional - We had a great stay at Shoraiso for our honeymoon in December. Service is unparalleled and the staff are doing above and beyond to make us feel like home without being intrusive. We love the elephant decor of the room and the beautifully landscaped garden, and the private onsen is definitely the highlight of our trip. Breakfast and dinner are included and the food is just exceptional (very tasty with fresh local ingredient and creative presentation). The location is quite convenient - 45min train from Nagano to Yudanaka station and hotel is just a few min drive away (the hotel can arrange pick up). Monkey park is quite close (around 15min taxi away). Overall we couldn’t recommend this hotel more! Nothing. Everything is perfect.
- Danil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hiu (10/5): 5 star accommodation in the region - The room was very spacious which allow dinner to be served in the room. Excellent food and value for money. Nothing dislike. Everything exceed 5 starts.
- Lorella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ana (10/5): Amazing experience - Amazing property with even more amazing staff.
We stayed for two night during our honeymoon and couldn’t be happier with the experience.
It was an authentic yet luxurious Ryokan. Our room was beautifully decorated, spotless and it even had its own onsen. The food was exceptional and the staff was very well trained and extremely friendly. Highly recommended this hotel and would love to go back on day. Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional resort! Miho was so wonderful. All was to perfection! - This place is exceptional. Staff, food, room everything. Please disregard any other reviews! Nothing
- Jorge (10/5): - Wonderful but though the rooms were large and luxurious they could not fit more than two people per room
Even if is wife, husband and son
- Tracy (4/5): Worst western bed in Japan - The staff is kind, it’s a very clean facility and the location is pretty nice. The bed. Their idea of a western bed is nuts. Worst bed I slept in, in Japan. Maybe one of the worst beds on a vacation - ever. It was like sleeping just on a box springs, no mattress.
- Johee (9/5): Superb - Loved their public bath and the food
