Guest Reviews
- Ka Yan (2/5): Nothing looks like the listing photos - - Prior communication before checking in
- Prominent signage of Narusawaso on the road which you barely miss out
- Good location in between Kawaguchi and Saiko Lake so it is easy to access to the attractions of both sides (if you are driving)
- Free parking just out of Narusawaso First of all, nothing in Narusawaso looks the same as the listing photos except the reception probably. To be honest, the photos look totally fine when we booked.
Not sure when the photos are being taken, but certainly not recent. It is interesting that most of "abandoned" stuffs in Narusawaso remain in 2015/ 2016 which is 10 years ago.
1. Communication & Facilities
- Despite the prior communication, the host was missing on our arrival and unreachable from the contact who provides
- After checked in, no show around or briefing about the facility or the stay
- The WIFI is broken on the 2nd floor (very rarely can be connected); You can use it fine on the 1st floor.
2. Poor Cleanliness & Malfunction (See photos)
- VERY MAJOR issue: Booking.com only allows me to upload max 20 photos. Unless the things are broken or scratched from the surface, you cannot really tell the cleanliness from the photos, but the whole place is dusty and smelly.
- Like every other review here, the floor in the whole place is sinking and you don't know which tile that you can avoid.
- The room is fine. No any trash or hair is found during our stay, but there are some stains on the blankets.
- The toilet and water outlet are not automatic but it is clean. The trash bin in toilet wasn't cleaned.
- The bath is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from the photos. The mats in changing area come with black stains and not cleaned. The bath only provides shampoo and zero body washes. There are hairs and some dust in the bath water. Because of aged, the surface of the bath goes yellow-ish.
- And we even need to kill the spiders during our bath T_T
- The slippers for the guests are not feeling clean either
3. Amenities
- Only small and obsolete towels are provided
- Toothbrushes are provided, but no toothpaste
In short, I understand the accomodation in this touristy area is pricey, but we are paying 8640 yen per night here.
- Satoshi (6/5): -
- Franz (10/5): Great spot - Great place , And great service love the big bath
- Franz (10/5): Great spot - Great spot, great bath and great staff
- 卓郎 (6/5): また次回も利用させていただきます。 - お湯、電子レンジなど自由に使える。 枕カバーが昭和なタイプ、付けるのが手間。100均のでよいので袋タイプにしてほしい。

- Koo (4/5): Disappointing -
- Vasyl (9/5): Normal place if you are ok with location. - Authentic Japanese house. There is minimum necessarily like heater and etc. The room is quite big. No staff at place. Almost no possible to contact the staff. There is no posabilty to lock the room. No lock no key. It's Japan and quite safe, but still.
- Natalia (5/5): Passable - The owner was a nice man, room was spacious and nice. Has bus stops really close by.
However the showers are really far and not nice, not clean either.
Seems like this place was a very nice place long time ago, but time has passed and smells humid, and old bad… nd some parts of the floor on common areas is almost broken due to humidity…
- Salony (6/5): Pleasant - Location is serene and beautiful. Limited bus service to this area from Kawaguchiko station. Only 1 bus in every 2 hours. Also, the last bus that goes nearby the hotel is at 5:38 pm. So we need be a bit careful with the time.
- Raveewan (4/5): Disappointing - nothing
- Raj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mori (8/5): we travel by foot so it been a little difficult, but overall we had a lot of fun.. if you have a car the place is really -
- Doreen (5/5): Passable -
- Forde (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arūnas (9/5): Superb -
- Akter (7/5): Good - This is a great place if you have a car and go with your spouse or partner. The bus and train last time is 5:15. So you will be at trouble if you do not reach before that. But the owner offered us a ride to the cave. We liked it. Japanese style home stay. Very quiet, nice, near to the kawaguchiko and the caves. very nice location. If you want raw Japanese rural experience, this property is very good to stay. Being a foreigner, when called to the property, the only reply was, 'no English'. And the train and bus last time is 5:15. if you don't have a car consider checking in very early and reaching the place before 5pm. Plan very accordingly. And the only communicating options are through message. Phone call for foreigners will not be helpful if you don't know Japanese.
- Kuzmins (9/5): Perfect for staying overnight! - A very good place to spend overnight after a long hiking trip. It was possible to take a bath to relax the body - a big sento area for the entire group. Liked the Japanese-styled environment of the room. Wi-Fi was not available on the second floor, so I needed to go down to the lobby to use it.
- Aleksei (6/5): The facility has most of the stuff you need for a short stay. Pretty bad for non smokers. - The location is pretty close to the hiking trail and the huge bathtub is very nice. It’s in general pretty dirty and there were no bed sheets at all. The worst part that people are smoking right at the “reception” at the common space and the smell goes up inside poorly insulated rooms. And it seems that the host is ok with it.
- Aleksei (7/5): Good -
- Leigh (6/5): Great for backpackers or those with a thirst for adventure. As a family with older children I’s suggest find somewhere e - Location and ease of access very good. The rooms were well equipped with plenty of heaters and extra blankets. The Onsen was lovey albeit a shares space though it was possible to lock the door thus make it private (not sure this would be appreciated if it had been busier) It is a little worse for wear. Obviously at one time this guesthouse would have been absolutely delightful, and there was certainly nothing dangerous, but the floors and rooms are in need of repair. Also other guests were noisy at times though not for extended periods.
- Yi (4/5): Disappointing -
- Muthuprakash (3/5): Poor - Location was good Very old building , maintenance is poor.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Arūnas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claudius (8/5): Original place. Good value for money. - Nice owner. And a bath included in the price. Bad internet.
- Franz (10/5): After 8 times in the area .. best place i have stayed for price - Amazing stay ! A 3rd of the price anywhere else around . Emi her father and mother were truly amazing hosts. Even gave me a lift to train station 🙂. Traditional Japanese Room , free coffee ! Amazing kitchen and english spoken! Best bath ever There was nothing not to like
- Filipa (5/5): Passable -
- Alvin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Pooja (7/5): it is good stay if you just want to spend your night for sleep with no other expectations. - The stay location was near the bus stop at a walkable distance if you reach before 5 or so since no buses available after everning. I felt the host response was not quite well. There was no drinking water available, and bathroom was in a separate connected building which was not very convenient and it was common for both men and women. wifi service is not provided here.
