Guest Reviews
- Donna (6/5): - The breakfast was lovely, the staff friendly. Very disappointed that we weren't told that the breakfast venue had changed AFTER we booked Personally I felt the room needed updating to reflect the price of the room.
- Guest (5/5): Would look to find other accommodations next time. - Relatively good location. Overlooking the water was great. Wasn’t able to check in properly. Stood for 20 minutes trying to reach the staff. Did not receive the room or door code via message as was expected. We were not the only ones that day dealing with this issue. The room was tiny. Barely room to move around the sides of the bed. We were supposed to have breakfast provided, but they wrote a note saying they no longer provided. They did, however, work out with another location to serve us, but that added too much time to our day and so was less than ideal.
- Francesco (6/5): -
- Guest (6/5): Expensive for the overall room and long distance breakfast - A bed and breakfast that sends you a mile away for breakfast. Labor issue? Their convenience? They never said.
- EJ (5/5): Slechte kwaliteit voor een fikse prijs per nacht. - De beschikbaarheid was de enige reden om hier te boeken Geluidsoverlast. Er was hele slechte geluidsisolatie tussen de kamers onderling.
- Bryan (6/5): -
- John (8/5): Great for one night. - Room was great clean easy to find . Got a text two days before breakfast was not available at facility. Had to go to portree to sister hotel with no parking. I have mobility problems had to skip breakfast.
- ALANA (8/5): Loved the view from room. - The location was perfect and the view from our room was beautiful. The room nicely updated. The rest of property dated. The property no longer serves breakfast from that location but offers it at another location on the water and the breakfast was wonderful.
Nunca me volvería a alojar aquí…
- Forster (10/5): - Lovely!
- Jose Ricardo (10/5): Hotel aconchegante e acolhedor e da vista. - Conforto! Das camas separadas
- Zahn (10/5): -
- Chris (7/5): Our room was clean and comfortable and the location suited our plans. - What breakfast? Yes, we were offered to make a reservation for breakfast at another property in town where parking is at a premium, and the times offered were not convenient to our planned early start. The cost of the breakfast should have been deleted from our bill, and offered only as an optional add-on to those who wanted it. See above - breakfast was an issue. We never set eyes on the owner or any other staff, for that matter. Paper plates, utensils, napkins, cups should have been made available in the lounge.
- luis (8/5): - Les vistes són espectaculars.
- George Hight (3/5): overpriced for what was delivered - There was no staff whatsoever
While breakfast was included it involved driving into town and trying to find a parking place near another facility
- THOMAS (8/5): - The guest house and grounds are beautiful and very clean. The bed was comfortable. Marlena, the housekeeper, was super friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is supposed to be on site and included in the price. The day of arrival we were sent a message that due to "unforeseen circumstances" there would be no breakfast on site, and we'd have to go to their sister hotel in town, about 1.5 miles away. We had no car, so we had to hire a cab or walk. It was raining most of our time there, and cabs are scarce, so it was a cold, wet walk. We had the feeling that this wasn't really an unusual occurrence. However, breakfast at the Rosedale Hotel was very good!
- dadams (7/5): -
- Rosemary (6/5): Due to some issues we had to drive into Portree to have breakfast both mornings which was a little inconvenient. On sayi - The conservatory was lovely The beds were small & uncomfortable. The bathrooms were tiny
- Patricia (3/5): AVOID. Overpriced, arrogant owners, decent room staff. Customers are an inconvenience - Location and views at the back of the property are fine Overpriced, the rooms are inconsistent; some have been refurbished and are larger with views. Others like ours, room 11, are small. At over £210 per night, we expect to be able to walk around the bed, pokey shower room in a converted cupboard with a sink at a height for a small adult or child. Breakfast is continental with small portions and sweet bakery choices. Scrambled egg with one slice of toast is the hot choice. Take it or leave it. No garnish, no condiments.
- Leslie (4/5): Slightly inconvenient - We booked this location due to the bed and breakfast. However, upon arrival we found hair in one of the coffee cups and there was a note on the bed stating the kitchen was closed and it provided an option to an alternative location for breakfast. We booked with the other location assuming it was close by since we were supposed to have breakfast onsite. Turns out the place was a 20-25 minute walk one way. Factoring this in with having to then walk back to meet our tour bus did not work for us. The no breakfast was a huge inconvenience and messed up part of our stay…since it was factored in to what we would be doing. Due to not providing the amenities specified a portion comparable to breakfast fees should have been refunded but being in a different country not sure how it works. Either way this place may be on point for others but for what we required it unfortunately did not meet our needs.
- Mednikova (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kateryna (8/5): The location is great! The room was clean and the breakfast was great. -
- St. (10/5): Exceptional - The location was perfect, and the view from our window was breathtaking! We enjoyed the scenic patio in the evening as well. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the staff were very helpful and friendly.
I was honestly just glad to find any accommodations available on the Isle of Skye in July... and Greenacres exceeded all expectations!
- Lev (7/5): Good -
- Edyta (6/5): Clean, small. - Location, cleanliness -they won’t respond to emails
- I asked the man for a sheet as the duvet was very hot -he said they don’t have any
- tiny room , bathroom was … in a converted closet ( room no 9 or 11- can’t remember as we rented two rooms)
- the caretaker/worker ( or maybe they were owners) were not very approachable or friendly.
- Rachele (3/5): The Isle of Skye was beautiful the stay at Green Acres not so much 😢 - Location, view and breakfast When we arrived our room (5) was extremely hot! We called/email the contact information (there is no staff on site) and no resolution/contingency. It took 5 hours before it began to cool down (10:30 pm), there are no blinds on the windows and the drapes needed to be open to get any air, the room also was light until sunset, near 11:00 pm!
After a long day of travel we had to leave the room for a few hours for relief.
- Gabriel (6/5): Too expensive for minimal service - Decent breakfast. Too expensive for a B&B, and not very pretty Portree. Would recommend Uig for the value and service. Too expensive for what you get
- Prateek (10/5): Awesome view from the room window - The location Parking
- Rebecca (7/5): Good -
- Alon (10/5): Exceptional - Great staff, especially Gordon.
- Vincent (5/5): Passable - The room it self was well decorated and clean, the bed was comfortable Breakfast was disgraceful. Expecting a cooked breakfast. Was very unhappy with some cold hard bread rolls and very limited choice of cereals.
The lady offered to do some toast after 10 minutes a single slice of cold cremated bread appeared.
- Clint (6/5): Pleasant -
- Jason (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): This is a great accommodation for comfort and breakfast. - Breakfast was great. View from breakfast area is awesome. Room is very large and well furnished which was great. Our room didnt have the ocean view. Its a bit out of town. In good weather it would be a reasonably long walk. This limits dinner options to one restaurant across the road or driving. I guess you could buy your own and eat it in the dining room with the view. Quite expensive, but options are limited.
Walls were thin so we could hear next door quite clearly.
- Tzyyjane (9/5): Superb -
- Lindsey (10/5): Exceptional - Everything apart from the shower. House was lovely. The people who run it were helpful & friendly. The views from the house were spectacular. Plenty seating in the garden. Lounge & dining space was spacious & comfortable. I’d definitely go back there 😊 Shower was poor
- Elisa (8/5): Comfortable stay in lovely lochside location. - Room was newly refurbished to a good standard with new furniture and bathroom. Toiletries excellent. No loch view from our room but to the rear the extensive patio gave astonishing panoramic views. Portree easily accessible - we walked in 20 mins. Bathroom a bit small and exterior of property a bit dated but it is clear there is ongoing investment.
- Anurag (9/5): Nicely maintained property, very good breakfast - Landscaping, lovely Gasta pizzeria and movie cinema near by A bit far outside the city
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The location and facilities were nice but the view of the coast from the hotel is impressive.
- Ramon (8/5): More than okay, less than perfect - Clean rooms and friendly staff Smaller rooms without darkening curtains.
- Owen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sara (8/5): Very good - The room was big enough, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was really rich with savoury and sweet options. The owners were really kind and helpful in giving suggestions for places to visit. It's a bit expensive, although one of the cheapest options in the area
- Irwin (10/5): wonderful weekend... Green acres is the place to be - They did everything to make sure that our stay was wonderful
- Mary (8/5): Homely stay with very nice breakfast. - Breakfast was first class, one hot option with plenty of home prepared banana bread, overnight oats and chai as well as yogurts, pastries, meat, cheese selection daily. We ate at the nearby pizza restaurant 10 min walk first night, but booked in advance. Do take note that the owners advise booking a table well in advance if planning on eating in Portree, which was heavy with tourists and we couldn't get a pub or hotel meal anywhere, as we had not booked in advance. There is a small amount of noise from people coming and going at odd times, we had the room next to the stairs so some noise was unavoidable. Other rooms not looking to the front of the house may be a quieter option but our room was lovely and very spacious. In room tea, coffee etc replenished and everything was nice and clean.
- Aldridge (10/5): Exceptional -
- Garth (5/5): Overpriced, unstaffed hostel with a great view. - Overpriced for the accommodations. You’re paying for the view. The room was small. No staff except for breakfast. The room was freshly painted and carpeted it without ventilation except unscreened windows. Expensive for basically an unstaffed hostel.
- Christine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chiew (10/5): My review is delayed (stayed in Mar25) but I still remember Simon and Susan. They are really nice hosts … I miss my time - View from my room and breakfast area. Super spacious room. They value our privacy. Room is exactly as shown in photos of Booking.com Heated bar for towels not working so I requested for towels change frequently. Not causing any inconvenience to me
- Kenneth (8/5): A quiet and comfortable stay in a good location. - The breakfast was excellent, with the bonus of fine views from the room. Our room was spacious, clean and warm, and the bed was very comfortable. The en-suite shower & toilet was very good. The short drive from the main road makes it a quiet property.
- Danielle (9/5): Had a lovely stay for our holiday, enjoyed the view, comfy and clean accommodations, and excellent hospitality - The views and hospitality were so wonderful.
- Sushil (8/5): Very good -
- Georgios (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brad (9/5): Authentic, quiet, and pleasant - We arrived in the evening to Greenacres after several hours of driving. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff were friendly. Our room was really comfortable and clean. The indoor jacuzzi and swimming pool were exactly what we needed to relax and unwind. Highly recommend taking advantage of the facilities. By the time we went for dinner- we never made a reservation, which I recommend doing - the service was over, so we ordered the cheese platter and a Guinness. The bar lady was friendly and great to chat to. The overall experience was authentic and enjoyable. The breakfast was a little limited. If you like Scottish national food, then I guess it's ok. The wi'-fi was practically non-existent, and I couldn't get a good signal anywhere on the premises.
- Carolina (10/5): Best of the best on isle of Skye! - What an amazing b&b on isle of Skye! the hosts are absolutely incredible - so kind, so welcoming and wonderful conversationists that helped us start our days in the best way. the rooms were SO clean and SO cozy, I didn't want to leave. and the view?! felt like we were on lake Como! literally nothing - everything was perfect. the hosts, the location, the breakfast, the rooms, everything.
- Shreeja (10/5): It’s a beautiful accommodation with all the sites in a stone throw distance - The cleanliness N/A
- Nepheli (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georgia (9/5): Perfect - We loved our stay at Greenacres. The bed was comfortable and there were great sea views from the window. The breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Very friendly hosts ! Nothing!
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacque (9/5): Beautiful room & view, very helpful & accommodating service by Simon & Susan. - Breakfast had good selections. Simon & Susan were gracious & accommodating shower floor was very slippery, some traction floor patches would be helpful
- Paulina (10/5): Lovely place - The most amazing place on Skye. Lovely room with very comfy bed with( feather duvets!!). Bathroom with shower. Tasteful and healthy breakfast and we enjoyed it while looking at the most amazing view. Friendly staff and we felt very looked after. Will be coming back!
- Thomas (7/5): This is a good place to stay and will be a great place once the renovations are complete - The room was a good size with a recently renovated ensuite. The breakfast was good and served in a conservatory looking over the water. Our room had a balcony and a sensational view. The building is undergoing renovations. Our ensuite, although new, lacked fixtures like shelves and towel rails. There was a noisy water pump a lot of the time but not overnight. Our room was above the kitchen and we could hear activity early in the morning.
- Patrick (9/5): Comfortable stay - A good continental breakfast, offer of scrambled eggs on toast, nice room. A bit closer to Portree would have been nice.
- Lise (10/5): Perfect - Just amazing ! The room, the breakfast, the location: everything is perfect ! The kindness of the host is also amazing.
- Joseph (10/5): Lovely room , warm hospitality - Beautiful room with amazing views . Great breakfast and warm hospitality 🌷
- Maree (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mayuri (9/5): Great location and breakfast, lovely view! :) - Lovely little guest house we stayed at for a night during our travel. Especially enjoyed the tasty breakfast with the beautiful view. Was not fond of the room’s main lighting but it was not a deal breaker. The lamp lights were a nice cozy alternative
- Steven (4/5): Disappointing stay for price point. - The lack of a full cooked breakfast was a disappointment. Other guests above our room I would liken to a herd of elephants. The lack of good insulation between floors and creaking floor boards led to a disappointing stay.
- Jessica (9/5): Superb -
- Afonso (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff
Great breakfast
Beautiful room
Gorgeous location Room shutters didn't block sunlight
- Selin (10/5): Exceptional - the view, breakfast and owners.
- On (8/5): Very good -
- Alexander (8/5): Would recommend - Very friendly hosts. Warm house. They provided a time slot for semi private breakfast. Which meant we sat straight down and started eating. Very nice cooking from them.
Good views from the dining room and out of our bedroom window.
Had free on site parking. Walls were pretty thin so when we tried to get an early sleep (9pm) the people in the room next to us were talking and laughing loudly. And you could hear the snoring.
- Jewel (10/5): Wonderful stay! Clean, comfortable, and lovely views! - Beautiful views; very convenient location to Portree; very clean; delightful couple managing the place and running breakfast; delicious breakfast; soft beds; very easy to make arrangements for local laundry service to pick up and drop off washing. If you’re looking at reserving a twin room, just be aware that the twin beds here are more narrow than what you’d encounter at a chain hotel.
- Chao (9/5): Superb -
- David (8/5): Very good - Stayed there before so knew the location Quite a lot of noise from adjacent rooms
- George (10/5): Exceptional - The entire experience was exceptional Nothing to dislike
- Philip (10/5): Cosy and Friendly - Staff were extremely friendly and the property offers a wonderful breakfast. Also, the view of the loch is beautiful!
- Eric (10/5): Nice place and great staff. - Breakfast was excellent. Lots of homemade baked goods and eggs cooked on the spot. Nothing.
- Katja58465 (10/5): Delicious breakfast and stunning views - The breakfast was amazing and the owners were very nice. The property is absolutely beautiful right at the lake with stunning views. The beds are so comfortable and they really paid attention to the little details. I had the best breakfast on my trip right here! A great selection and very balanced with fresh fruits. Lots of parking and there is a restaurant and cinema close by. The candle factory is as well. The walls are very thin and you can hear every movement from upstairs. I don't know if the guests upstairs are aware of it. Nothing that the owner can change though but for people who have a light sleep it's something to consider. Ear plugs could probably help
- Grace (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ekaterina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irma (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Letitia (9/5): a pretty decent experience in all - excellent location just outside Portree, great parking, nice big comfy room, continental breakfast advertised, so scrambled eggs and toast was a welcome addition
check in is self service via a key box, but be aware the key box will be outside your room and NOT the one at the front door, which we spent an age trying to unlock, try the front door FIRST, it was unlocked!! we had one non working socket in room 5, and the bathroom blind was torn and a bit tatty tbh
unless we missed it , there is no signage for the property from the Portree side if travelling southbound, we turned around, and northbound there is a huge sign easily seen
- Yichen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dinko (10/5): Fantastic location & views! - Excellent views from my room! Also the location is very good. Keep in mind that your room key will be in a lockbox by the room itself, not by the front door of the house. The front door will be unlocked.
- Jennifer (10/5): Beautiful property with lovely views and hosts. - Beautiful property with amazing views despite the rainy weather. Simon and Susie were lovely and made us feel at home. Looking forward to staying here again and hopefully enjoying the garden in nicer weather. Walls were quite thin. We could hear all the conversations and movement of the room next to us.
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Excellent accommodation that I would recommend to anyone visiting Skye - Location was perfect and great choice for overnight stay Shower was ok but water pressure could be better
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Utsav (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rhoda (9/5): Did the job - Breakfast was fine. Maybe bacon and egg breakfast
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
