- Gerber (1/5): Listing is deceiving! Not a safe area. - Booked 2 nights, we left within 30 minutes of arriving. The area is seriously misrepresented in the listing. We thought we were getting a cottage on a farm or similar. We ended up in an unsafe area on the outskirts of Pietermaritzburg. We saw people using drugs on the side of the road just around the corner as we drove in. We could hear people yelling a few houses down. The entrance is impossible to find (no signage, gate is behind bushes at the end of a cul de sac), and when we phoned for directions the person was quite rude. We decided to sacrifice the R2000 and drive back home rather than stay here. We did not feel safe at all during the day, and would not have felt safe staying there at night.
