Guest Reviews
- karthik (10/5): This is really a Sanctuary - Ambience and Aroma Nothing
- Frederick Scott (10/5): We had a great visit. - The location was in a quiet neighborhood with good restaurants and shops within walking distance. We did upgrade to a larger room for our 5 night stay. Their restaurant, Terra Mae was exceptional. Our stay was made much more comfortable by the excellent service of the manager, Alex and at the restaurant by Aspen. Spa time is an extra expense for hotel guests. However, the bath tub in the room was super nice and spa-like with mineral rich water as hot as you like.

- Olivia (10/5): So wonderful :) - Amazing amenities and staff Everything!!!
- Rezwan Azfar Haleem (10/5): -
- Dana (10/5): From check-in to check-out- everything was great! - Very clean and staff are very attentive. No complaints!
- Justine (10/5): - Gorgeous rooms, great cafe and restaurant, amenities , and the SPAAA
- Ansal (8/5): - The amenities. It should be cheaper for hotel guests, though. The room layout was very cool and clean. The spa was amazing, and everyone was respectful. Parking. Literally none. On the first night, we drove around for 40-plus minutes and ended up walking 4 blocks to the hotel with our bags in the rain.
- Frink (9/5): Excellent except for the parking. - Everything about the hotel itself was excellent. The staff was attentive. The rooms were state-of-the-art. The spa was amazing. The hotel restaurant, Terra Mae, was fantastic. There was very little that was problematic. Parking was atrocious and essentially non-existent. There was no place to park temporarily to unload our luggage. We had to park on a city street (in a VERY questionable neighborhood; see below), three blocks away. We learned, later, that there is a parking garage under construction beneath the hotel, and that it would be ready in September. This gives us reason to re-visit -- after September -- as this was a major issue initially and very frustrating.
The neighborhood around the hotel had a dubious nature, where I wouldn't necessarily feel safe walking the streets at night. At one point, a very crazy person was walking down the middle of the street, shouting expletives at anyone who looked at him. The homeless problem in Portland is quite bad. HOWEVER, there are many surrounding restaurants on Alberta Street that were excellent, particularly Petite Provence Boulangerie & Patisserie, where we had breakfast one day.
- Mary (8/5): -
- Gary (10/5): A real gem in Portland! - Amazing spa! Well appointed rooms! Spa staff were a bit militant… a smile goes a long way.
- Martha (10/5): - The spa/mineral pools are amazing. Particularly the silent pools. In one overnight I spent 6 hours in the pools. The room was lovely. Fun to be in such a thoughtfully designed building. And the spa…
- Viktoria (10/5): - It’s new and clean hotel. It’s really amazing
- Jenifer (10/5): - Cozy rooms, wonderful neighborhood, customer service was great, spa was divine, Alberta St Coffee Shop was AMAZING (Will went above and beyond for us), lots of walkable shops and delicious food nearby. We will absolutely be back.
- Joseph (10/5): - great
- Claire (6/5): - Misleading room description on Expedia. Daily $70 fee that covers nothing that any other hotel doesn’t give you free. $50 extra if you want to use their thermal baths etc… Charged the “destination fee” after we had left the property along with a Kombucha that was never used. They probably get fake room charges by on some people all the time. Check your bill!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing place - Blown away. Awesome place and the thermal pools are world class.
- Isabelle (6/5): Needs some work - I'd been to the thermal springs many times and was looking forward to a one-night staycation. Upon checking in, I found that my keycard and wristband didn't work. I had to go to the front desk, where they said they'd fixed them. Up to the 4th floor; still didn't work. I called for help and was helped promptly. This wasn't a huge deal to me, but they said this was a common problem, so that should probably be solved.
The room itself was very nice and clean, though I found the bed/pillows exceptionally firm and the sheets a bit scratchy. Everything still felt high-quality, though.
The real issue with this hotel is the food, or lack thereof. I didn't realize Terra Mae was closed on Sundays, which is their ONLY restaurant right now. As in, if Terra Mae isn't open, you will not be getting fed (besides grab and go options in the coffee shop). No room service, nothing, which I found shocking for the price tag.
Furthermore, the steam room was broken. Not a huge deal again, but these things add up. I left feeling all right about the experience but somewhat disappointed. $400 a night is a huge price tag without perks like room service, and even the thermal springs costs paying guests. I think Casada could use some temporary fixes until the food situation is figured out, which it sounds like they're working on. Maybe waived thermal springs fees for all paying guests or a gift card to the restaurant. Something to justify the cost of basically just a room.
- Cormac (10/5): - Absolutely loved my stay at the Cascade Hotel! The neighborhood location is perfect—walkable, vibrant, and gives you a true Portland experience. The hotel itself is top-notch, with 5-star amenities and a staff that goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. One of the absolute highlights was the thermal springs—an unforgettable experience and a must-visit for anyone staying here. I’ll definitely be back!
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- Graham (10/5): -
- Anne (8/5): - An impeccably clean modern hotel with accommodating staff and a welcome lack of kids (no one under 21 is allowed in the spa area, and since the spa is the main attraction of the hotel, families with children probably wouldn't choose this place first).
The hotel advertises thermal "springs" but the water is regular city water heated below the pool area and pumped into various soaking/swimming pools. Chemicals are added to the pools, resulting in a discernible smell. The limitation on the number of guests in the spa/pool area at any given time is a real plus; the area was never crowded, and the "silence" policy created a serene atmosphere. At $100 for three hours of access which even hotel guests must pay, the price seems high to me. There is also a sizable resort "amenity" fee on top of the pay-to-soak spa policy; it is unclear what, if any, additional amenities are offered for that fee.
The rooms are clean, uncluttered, and furnished in an eco-Ikea aesthetic with materials that look a lot like particleboard. I did appreciate the fridge, sink, and mini-kitchen, which allowed us to heat up simple meals in the room. And the fact that the room had a washer/dryer was really nice.
The price to value ratio was not compelling for me, but I do want to thank the amazing staff who were uniformly kind, helpful, and authentically friendly.
- Danielle (10/5): - My only thing suggestion is room service. It would have been so nice to have some options for food with the kids. Or to be able to send up a pot of coffee in the morning.
- Roslyn (6/5): Pleasant - Clean modern new. Fitness center well equipped Our room is located across the street from a noisy bar. They played live music to 1 AM every day. It was really annoying and it was difficult to do work in the day time because the bar was just loud. The staff offered to change her room. They are aware of this problem. However, being aware of it why they put us in a room right opposite, the bar isn’t clear. This is an expensive property and you would like it to be pleasant.
As a valued guest, there should be no fee to use the spa.
- David (8/5): Swanky and clean, premium experience still ironing out some tech issues - The staff were welcoming and helpful. The massage and spa facilities were very nice and not too crowded. My room was upgraded as a courtesy without me asking for it. Street parking wasn't bad and the location seems pretty safe. Wifi worked well, 50 Mbits up and down. One button opens the blinds and turns on all of the room lights. Not a bad view from the top floor and neighborhood noise was minimal. The room keys are bands you wear around your wrist. In the instructions for the spa on screen, they advise you to use your room key for access, though the spa bands only work in the spa currently until they iron that out, so you need to head to the front desk to get your wrist key reprogrammed if you follow the instructions. Don't forget your swimsuit like I did: the shop across from the spa isn't inexpensive when it comes to attire. The installed power jacks on the floor also don't support two pronged cables since they're somewhat recessed. Bring a three prong cable or use one of the wall jacks. There are multiple "scene" options in rooms for lighting and drawing the curtains, mostly self explanatory but they randomly opened and closed once without being prompted. So, some tech issues but nothing horrible.
- Robert (10/5): Loved it - Wonderful relaxing hotel. First rate facility. Everything new and clean. Staff was very friendly and remembered our names and travel plans. Welcomed back every night by staff on duty. The smell when you walked into the door made you feel like it was a place you wanted to be.
- Daniyela (8/5): - Beautiful property but very over priced for what they offer , also no parking !! The thermal spa should be included in your room stay and no reservations should be required ! Breakfast / lunch would be nice to have !! Would I go again ? No
- Morlan (8/5): - I had a great time there the room was good did have trouble with casting with my phone in one of the TV’s and was buffering in and out while casting. The spa was great loved the atmosphere in there.
- Abigail (5/5): Passable - The hotel is noisy and the walls are too thin. The staff was very nice to move me within the hotel, but the problem persists. The spa is really really nice, my complaint is with the hotel. The yoga class was great!
- Joanna (4/5): - Based on how Cascada is described on Expedia’s listing, it says “Indoor private mineral hot springs (Japanese-style onsen)” “ Pool access available from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM” and “Hot springs access available from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM”. This left us with the impression that it was a semi all-inclusive experience but that is far from the truth. The hotel is expensive and when you book, you are told there is a “resort fee” - ours was $162 after tax. The day we were set to arrive, I get a text saying we need to book services including the Thermal Springs. I click in and it says there is a fee ($100 for 2 people) and a 3 hour limit. Huh? That’s not how it’s described on Expedia’s website. We get to the hotel and are told that they’ve “had problems” with Expedia but that there is in fact a charge to access the Thermal Springs but all their classes are included. Weird, very off putting and misleading. Also, what is the “resort fee” for? Overall, the rooms are nice, new, have an eco focus and are clean but small. My spouse and I agreed the beds were very firm, we didn’t sleep comfortably. We really enjoyed the Thermal Springs and highly recommend it but would stay somewhere else. Lots of potential to this hotel but poor and confusing execution.
- Cara (10/5): Luxury Wellness - I believe the hotel had only been open a few weeks when we visited. Parts of it are still under construction and should only make the experience more interesting once it's completed. We stayed in the top floor of a loft suite. The room had a lot of "wow" factors I enjoyed like the motorized curtains and high ceilings. I felt like an old lady on the spiral staircase, as my knee hurt in the tight twisting body movements, moving up the stairs. My husband mentioned his pillow was horribly stiff. The front desk staff informed us, the complaint was warranted as they only stuff pillows with natural materials which is a decision they are reconsidering. But overall the room was excellent. The thermal pools, tubs, sauna etc were outstanding. The one important safety issue they should address is the slippery floors which could use some rubber matting. If you really want to impress your guests who pay a hefty room charge, offer the Thermal pools for free/ or a nominal fee like $25 but charging $50-100 for a hotel guest seems high considering we paid $500/night for the hotel.
- Joseph (10/5): - Beautiful, peaceful space. High-end and pleasant without being gaudy. Felt nice to be there, but the main attraction is the Thermal Spa which is a must. Felt like a high-end asian-style bath. This was a pleasant trip!
- Sam (8/5): Great (expensive!) time! - location was great, everything very clean and tidy. staff friendly. the pool/spa facility is an additional cost - when I paid, I assumed that the high price was to do with spa access, which was disappointing. but I wasn't "unhappy" paying that additional cost because it was still so good.
- Natalie (10/5): - Staying at Cascada is a wellness focused experience that helps you escape from your daily stress and focus on yourself and or your partner and become centered and rejuvenated in beautiful surroundings of plants, Zen coloring, calming aromatherapy and materials in the smallest of details.
- Jorge (10/5): - Verry relaxing
- Claudine (10/5): - comfortable, clean and cool place to stay and chill. Thermal pools are relaxing but I wish they will post what minerals are used in the mineral pool and the benefits it provides.
Located right in the middle of a highly residential area along Alberta arts district street. Friendly neighborhood.
- Arleth (10/5): - Amazing place!
- Summer (10/5): Amazing that’s it!!’ - Everything and location Everything
- Alyssa (6/5): Cute staycation spot with great potential! - Very modern, bright architecture, great amenities and location. Staff friendly and accommodating. Mattress and pillows were too firm for us, there is an extra fee to enjoy the pool as a hotel guest.
- Selin (8/5): - Our stay at Cascada Hotel was fantastic. While the hotel is still under construction, the noise was minimal and didn’t impact our experience.
Check-in could be improved with staff assistance for luggage, as we had to use a cart ourselves. The wristband entry system for rooms was a bit tricky, and I prefer key cards.
The spa experience was amazing, though clearer information about services would be helpful, either online or at check-in. Providing guests with this info in advance would make the experience smoother. The main pool bar was closed, but water and tea were available. The ambiance was everything here. More than two towels at the spa would also be a nice touch.
We appreciated the pet-friendly atmosphere, but offering pet bowls, a bed, and treats would enhance the experience, as many pet-friendly hotels do.
Although we didn’t get to try the restaurant (due to our dog), the menu and decor looked wonderful. Room service would have been a great option, but we know it’s coming soon. The area around the hotel had plenty of great options.
The room was amazing, with standout lighting and design details. However extra kitchen towels, and cutlery for the kitchenette would be a helpful addition. The pillows were a bit firm for our liking.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb -
