The garden is just as amazing—peaceful, well-kept, and you can tell he puts a lot of care into every little detail. I’d totally recommend this place! Plus, it’s not far from the beach and some really good surf spots—great waves, no crazy crowds.
• Karen (10/5): Beautiful tranquil haven - Sometimes you find a little corner of the world that just has some kind of special energy, for me this was one of those places... A beautiful tranquil haven beside the river, and only 5 min walk to the quiet peaceful end of Weligama Bay beach. The room was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom was clean, but it's the almost other worldly vibe of this place that makes it special, more than just a place to stay while you're in the area, more like an experience in itself.

• Rozaliya (10/5): Exceptional - Volky is a very nice host. I enjoyed my stay very much. The room has everything you need. I loved sitting outside in the evening and watching the stars. If you are looking for a calm place to stay not far away from Weligama Beach, this is your place! Highly recommend it! Everything was perfect!

• Denizden (10/5): Exceptional - This place is like a little retreat center with the river, so many beautiful animals and Volky’s kind hospitality. Watching the birds, meditating next to the river, playing on the grass, having nice conversations with Volky in the communal kitchen… I will miss my time in riVer :) Perfect location, 4-5 minutes to the peaceful side of the beach, very nice 20-25 minutes walking (especially when you walk from the beach) to the town which is more crowded but you can also find anything you need.

• David (10/5): A very special serene place with awesome owner. - Very simple, tidy rooms on a stunning property overlooking the river. Very connected to nature with monkeys, iguanas, frogs, and crabs making holes in the shore. Rustic kitchen available with utensils if you need to cook something on the fireplace. Large water filter so bring your own refillable flask. The owner is very chill, friendly and kind. He keeps everything tidy, chill beats play during the evening and incense is lit. Location is a 15-20 minute walk to the main surf shops and town so I hired a bicycle and was easily able to make quick trips for meals and surfing. The back road to the town is really beautiful. I planned on staying for 3 days but ended up staying 3 weeks!
