Guest Reviews
- Alison (10/5): Perfection, Peaceful and Pretty - Absolutely everything was spot on and lovely with it. there wasnt anything that I didnt like.
- Paul (10/5): A restful and comfortable stay.... I will be back. - A beautifully appointed shepherds hut in a stunning, very quiet location. The hut was extremely clean and comfortable with both underfloor heating and a ready to go log burner. Made to feel very welcome from arrival to departure. Nothing, everything was perfect.

- David (10/5): Amazing place. - The host was very welcoming and always at hand if you needed something. The shepherd's hut was very clean, spacious and nice, and toasty with the underfloor heating. The bed was very comfortable ,everything in the hut was just what you need for a good nights sleep. The chairs were comfortable and there was a small table to put out so you could have breakfast and evening meal. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you need to make a meal and a hot drink. There was a fridge to put your shopping in if you were staying from 1 night to 7 nights or more. The shower and toilet were well equipped heating in both the kitchen and shower. Everything was done to a high standard. The location was perfect, nice and quiet, and a good location to go to attractions. It was a good location for dark skies, I took some amazing photos of the stars in the night sky. If you want a nice quiet rest from a hectic life, this is the place to go. Saying that you can have a great stay here , regardless of what type of stay you want or need . I would recommend that you come and stay. My partner and myself are already discussing next year's stay. Thank you Chris you a memorable stay. Nothing.
- Beth Crowley (10/5): - Perfect in every way.
Beautiful location
Privacy, but also host available if needed
Such a great set up
- Wendy (10/5): A complete get away from it all stay. Can’t wait to go back - Beautiful setting, peace & quiet . Just the sheep goats hens. Perfect! Nothing
- Katarzyna (10/5): - Lovely, lovely place! Exactly what we needed- quiet and peaceful long weekend. Beautiful location, friendly and welcoming hosts, wonderful sounds of nature. We loved looking at farm animals and birds. Stargazing was amazing! The hut was very clean, bathroom with nice hot shower, kitchen is very well equipped and we had everything we needed. Fire pit and BBQ was great. Short walk to the lake with plenty activities, such as kayaking. Thank you Chris and Steve, we would love to be back!
- Vicky (10/5): Absolutely beautiful and the perfect mental health reset - Beautiful location and our host couldn’t do enough for us! The baby goats, chickens, sheep and pigs were all an added bonus! The location is so peaceful and I can’t wait to come back with my little boy who I know will adore it too. Nothing, it was all gorgeous! Wonderful for the mental health
- Maureen (9/5): Great place for short breaks and getting back to nature - The setting was private and very relaxing. The host was very friendly and provided some unexpected extras of eggs beer and chocolate. It was lovely to watch the variety of birds at the bird feeder. We had very good weather so the place was ideal. The bunk bed was very high and narrow, not suitable for and adult. This meant sharing the double bed with a friend, and was not ideal.
- Tony (10/5): A wonderful property in a beautiful location with a welcoming host - On arrival Chris was very welcoming and friendly. She showed me where everything was and asked if I had everything I needed. The shower was lovely, the bed was really comfortable and the property was spotless. The location is idyllic and very quiet and peaceful.
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - Every thing perfect and the hosts were amazing, peasefull and beautiful
- Ben (10/5): Great for a relaxing break in exmoor - Clean and tidy, great surroundings with views of the animals. Great communication from the host and was happy to help with any queries or local information. It was relaxing to watch the birds eating and the cabin is nice and warm with a wood burning stove. Although not an issue for us it's worth noting the toilet/shower and kitchen are in a building behind the cabin. Not a massive issue or deal breaker just worth noting for the colder/wetter weather.
- Kirsty (10/5): Idyllic rural retreat for those wanting some R&R - Foxgloves is an absolute gem of a getaway in the beautiful Exmoor National Park. The accommodation was thoughtfully designed (down to the frying pans for the fire pit and giant marshmallows!). The kitchen had everything we needed and everything was immaculately clean. The setting is close to an activity centre but far enough away not to notice it. It was a bird watcher’s delight - there were several species of finches and the odd woodpecker in the space of about half an hour feeding from just outside the hut. Then there’s the livestock - it was such a joy watching the ewes and lambs being fed (followed by lamb frolicking!), and we appreciated the fresh eggs from the hens! There were a three month-old goat kids that were fabulous to watch too. Don’t hesitate - just book! You won’t regret et it! Nothing - it was perfect!
- Vikki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katie (10/5): Perfect weekend away - cannot wait to return! - Absolutely wonderful weekend away. The accommodation and facilities were spotlessly clean, the location was beautiful and we had everything we needed. The hosts were fantastic and really made us feel welcome. Nothing, the weekend stay was perfect from start to finish!
- Pat (9/5): A lovely place, clean, comfortable, well laid out and peaceful. -
- Harriet (10/5): Beautiful Shepard's hut, warm and spacious on a farm - Christine and Steve made us feel so welcome from when we first arrived.
The hut is the nicest Shepard's hut we've stayed in, and the kitchen and bathroom were so lovely and well equipped and warm. Everything is really well insulated, we didn't even need the under floor heating on during the night.
The farm is beautiful and they showed us feeding time with the animals, and how the pigs love a belly scratch!
You can see the lake from the top of the field and star gaze as there's no light pollution at all. Very close to lovely pubs nearby. Nothing, it's perfect!
- Robbie (10/5): Exceptional - I really enjoyed my stay, it's in such a beautiful setting and is so peaceful! The walk around the lake is lovely and it's also a great base location to explore more of Exmoor and the coast. I'd definitely stay here again!
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goodforthesoul (10/5): Recommended- great location and lovely hosts. Local reservoir walk. - Great location, would recommend!
- Dave (10/5): Warm welcome , got the log burner going , gorgeous to be so close to Wimbleball lake (which is stunningly starlit at nig - Spotlessly clean , comfortable , wonderful location Nothing that I didn’t like
