Guest Reviews
- Michael (8/5): -
- Nicholson (7/5): Enjoyed it - NA Very comfy and bright.
- Alan (7/5): Good - Bathroom could do with some attention. Shower not the best.
- David (5/5): Passable - Cleaning could but a bit better there was dog hair on the sofa, I don't think it was used before us as it smelt damp but after half hour of having the heating on it went away. There is a skirting board in the kitchen has a rot hole where we kept getting slugs in we put salt down to stop this. The property was great and in a lovely spot for what we needed, these notes are just to let the landlord know what we found.
- Patricia (5/5): Passable - The furniture was nice The whole house needs redecorating and not very clear the towels were not great I had to buy new towels to use and buy clearing products to clear.
Also in the evening. Slugs were coming into the kitchen.
- Deborah (3/5): Poor - Not very clean and decoration was tired
- Victoria (10/5): Was a home from home experience, we will definitely be back. - We had a great stay, it was like a home from home, It had everything we needed and so much more. So clean, spacious and very comfortable. Great amenities in the house. Andy was a very helpful and responsive host. We really had a wonderful time and can say it's one of the best properties we've booked on Booking.com, I would most definitely recommend.
- Juan (10/5): Excellent place to stay, communication was always straight forward. Definitely would come back and recommend it. - The facilities were spot on, very clean and very well equipped. Location was perfect for what we’re looking for. Thank you! Can’t fault a single thing.
- Dolly (4/5): Disappointing - Quiet location and good access to main roads for exploring nearby towns.
Good size garden The house was dirty and in serious need of a deep clean. Needs some TLC!
Dirty shower and bath panel falling away from the bath.
Carpets thread bare upstairs with noticeable pulls
Hole in stairway
Marks on the walls in all rooms
Mould marks in bathroom
No information booklet or instructions on how to use white goods.
So disappointing as the house it self is a good size
- Pete (10/5): Great stay for what we wanted - well equipped house and comfy beds. Very clean and good host. - Clean and functional Shower was either scalding or freezing but that could have been us
- Claire (8/5): Very good - Good size, well equipped and clean
Nice garden with outside seating No curtains and the blinds were not blackout so very bright very early
Front of the house could be made to look a little more inviting
- Margaret (2/5): Had a great weekend with friends, but didn't enjoy staying here at all. - Not a lot You pay for a cleaner, kitchen floor was sticky and dirty as with the lounge floor. Carpet on was badly threadbare & needs replacing. Twin bedroom is running electrical in front of bed easily trip over it. Bathroom shower is not secure and leaking, radiator in toilet was on the floor and rusty. Needs a complete refresh. Over charged massively, won't stay here again. TV screen was absolutely filthy and dirty. Knives in knife block were all dirty so I just left them. In the past when we have rented somewhere it has always been a pleasure to be there, this one had no welcome or warmth about the place. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND FIND SOMEWHERE MUCH NICER!!! I emailed the owner to give him chance to explain but received nothing from him.
- Fiona (7/5): Lots that was good but not everything was as expected - The property was only added to booking.com a day or so before we booked it so there were no reviews to read but the price offered was unbeatable so we booked. At that price you are expecting good basic accommodation not high-end luxury and that is what we got. The accommodation has parking for two small or one large car and is more spacious than it appears from the photos. We were 4 adults and it suited us fine but there is actually only lounge seating for 4 so not sure how well 5 adults would manage. The kitchen was bigger than expected and appeared to be reasonably well equipped, I would have liked instructions for the combo-microwave but I managed to re-heat a cuppa without too much difficulty. The beds were more comfortable than I expected (though to be fair my expectations are always low on this aspect) and there were plenty of pillows and towels. The self check-in was a cinch and as we were delayed by abysmal traffic, very welcome. The location was easily found, is quiet and the village attractive - they had a pageant going on and the village was decorated with lots of flags and I wished we had time to investigate it. Two aspects let the property down. Firstly the cleaning had missed a couple of things: the (very light) rug as you enter the living space needed vacuuming and was grubby, it needs a wash or replacing with a rug less likely to show the dirt so much. There were dusty cobwebs in the stairwell and the main bedroom had a myriad of toddler handprints all over the window (we arrived as the sun hit them - they were harder to see in the mornings) plus a toddler cardigan down the back of a bedside table. These were only minor issues but were very off-putting on arriving at the property as I found myself wondering if the cleanliness was questionable. As far as I can tell there were no other cleanliness issues.
The second disappointment was the dishwasher, it had an E4 error code and stank so badly we had to open windows to get the smell out. I had only bought dishwasher tablets with me but luckily a previous occupant had left some dish soap.
Additionally there are a couple of long pulled sections in the carpet on the landing and marks on walls and I was concerned that we would be blamed for damage.
I contacted the owner as soon as we discovered these problems and he both apologised and tried to put things right. He offered to get the cleaners out - they could come at 6pm the next day - but, as the time was inconvenient to us and we were only staying 2 nights, we turned him down. He said that the dishwasher had recently been mended but he would now organise a replacement. Hopefully future guests will benefit from this. As we were only staying two nights and were not planning on cooking (we were there for a wedding), it wasn’t a problem but if I had been spending more time there on holiday it would have been a huge disappointment.
If you were to ask me if there was anything else I would like to see in the property I would say ‘coasters’ and a small table to act as a bedside table in the main bedroom.
