Guest Reviews
- Bastian (10/5): Der perfekte Ausgangspunkt um die Ost - und Nordküste (NC500) zu erkunden - Lage, Sauberkeit, Ausstattung, Kommunikation
- Karli (10/5): Beautiful cottage, wonderful owner and location! - Fiona the owner was wonderful. The cottage was beautiful and so perfectly clean. Location was ideal as only a few minutes from shops but still in the countryside. N/A
- Cristiana (10/5): Fantastic Christmas break - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Drumdry. We’ve had quite a few self catering stays and this was definitely one of the best. The house has everything you could need. We visited for a quiet, cosy Christmas break and it delivered exactly that. The Christmas decorations and hamper were a lovely touch. Great location for exploring the surrounding area. Would highly recommend and stay again.

- Amanda (10/5): Every spectacular! - The lodging was a show from beginning to end! I’ve stayed in several Airbnbs, this was the first one that had exactly everything a place needs to be cosy and relaxing. Mrs. Fiona (owner) left everything so that we could feel at home. He supported us from start to finish. We had a snowstorm in the last few days, and she was always worried about my family, even offering another day of lodging, because the weather was really very unstable. We will definitely come back there more often. It was an amazing 9-hour drive, very just worth it. The house is even better than the one in the photos.
- Catherine (10/5): It was like a home from home with everything you might need. The views were exceptional. An amazing break away. - The property was amazing. Very cosy and homely feel. Everything you would need is in the property. Exceptionally clean and inviting. Christmas decorations made it even more special at this time. Will definitely be returning. Not applicable
- Nel (9/5): Thank you to the host for the welcome hamper and keeping in contact to make our arrival stress free. - The property was beautifully decorated, clean and had everything available to make a comfortable stay. It took a couple of hours for the heating to take effect and for the cottage to feel comfortably warm. Our stay was during a particularly cold spell which wouldn’t have helped.
- Dunja (10/5): -
- Rebecca (10/5): - Everything! Comfortable, beautifully equipped … We loved it.
Thank you!

- Catherine (10/5): Superb cottage. - The cottage is a superb standard, with superior furnishings and decor. The rooms are spacious throughout and a really nice layout all on one level. The house was warm and cosy. The kitchen was really well equipped, there was also a dishwasher and washing machine. The parking area was a really good size and had a gate that could be closed. The garden is secure for the dog. The hosts had thought of everything, from games, books, advice on days out. Nothing
- Carol (10/5): -
- Muhammad (10/5): Outclass lavish accommodation for couple or family - I would say out of 10+ stay in wick different hotels and B & B. This stay was the best and lavish. Quality and cleanliness was amazing. Host Fiona response and service excellent 👏. Definitely would love to book again it comes. Well. I wish could stay a bit longer and enjoy.🤣
- Mark (9/5): Comfortable, relaxing with great access to NC500 - The property was beautiful with lovely views and furbished to a high standard. Comfortable, clean and attention to detail was high including kitchen utensils and little touches like tea, coffee and sugar lumps. 😊 The cottage itself was 10 out of 10, the only thing was surrounding area as not many cafes or restaurants, but if happy to drive out then plenty in surrounding areas.
- Martijn (10/5): Voor herhaling vatbaar - Een super mooie en zeer schone huisje met een uitstekende host -
- Amy (10/5): Top class cottage that is a real home from home - The warm and friendly welcome and welcome pack
The modern yet traditional decor
The added homely touches
The comfy bed
The quality shower
The garden
Real plants in a self-catering accommodation! Nothing - we will be happy to return
- Simone (10/5): - Prachtig huis. Superschoon, ruim. Mooi uitzicht op de schaapjes. Niets
- Sylvia (10/5): - The cottage was beautiful and so comfortable to stay in. It had everything we needed and a good base to explore part of the NC 500. Fiona was so kind and amazing-she even came to check in on me when she heard that I have been poorly. One of the best stays we've had-would highly recommend! Nothing
- Lesley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rod (10/5): The perfect getaway - Everything! So cosy and comfortable, beautiful furnishings and attention to detail. Best shower I’ve ever had! Perfect location. An excellent host. Couldn’t fault it. Nothing
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Stylish, spotless and excellent communication
- Neil (10/5): Excellent. - Tastefully decorated.
- Thanchanok (10/5): If you are searching the place to stay in NC500, you have pick the right one!! - It's our first time to NC500 and our trip wouldn't be completed without this lovely and beautiful cottage, Drumdry. The location is perfect. The cottage is very nice furbished, full facilities, clean and surrounded by the lovely baby sheep farm around. NOTHING AT ALL
- Tanjag33 (9/5): Beautiful house - dog friendly, helpful host, great shower and beautifully decorated - Beautiful house with lots of lovely details. Thoughtful welcome hamper. Amazing shower. Enclosed dog friendly garden. Comfy beds. Everything we needed.
Location is great to get to John o Groats or explore the local beaches.
The host was super helpful.
- David (10/5): Stay had everything required and more. Would book again and recommend to anyone. - Property was very well furnished and left spotless. Nothing, property was immaculate.
- Slinky2013 (10/5): Exceptional - One of the best rentals we have ever stayed in! Beautifully furnished. Spotlessly clean. Warm and cosy. Comfy bed. Lovely shower. Extremely well equipped kitchen. Welcome Hamper. Fully enclosed rear garden which our little dog loved exploring. We were only there for 3 nights but could have easily stayed a lot longer.
We explored the North and North East coastline while we were staying there.
Would 100% stay there again.
Thank you Fiona!
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a good area to explore the stunning coastline. Highly recommend! - Drumdry is a beautiful cottage that’s decorated and furnished to a very high standard. It has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. The enclosed garden is great for the dog too. Fiona is an excellent host who checked we had everything we needed.
- Jake (10/5): A home away from home. Will definitely be back. - Absolutely everything. Beautifully decorated, has everything you could possibly need, immaculately clean and ideally situated less than 5 minutes out of Wick town centre. The only “criticism” I have is the kitchen lights are slightly low and I kept bumping my head on them, but that’s more down to me being 6’8 😅
- Georgi (10/5): The best cottage we have ever stayed in. - Everything! The cottage is outstanding, gorgeous, immaculate, lovely etc etc etc we visited all the places recommended, saw seals, sunsets, a mermaid's grave and even had an Aurora.
- Jay (10/5): Great wee private cottage with the benefit your dog can come along too! - Great wee cottage, nice and private.
Good sized private driveway easily get 3 or 4 cars in if needed.
Plenty space for my dog outside and it being fenced off all around the property I didn't need to constantly keep an eye out.
Interior of the property was to a very high standard especially for price point when compared with other self catering accommodation and local hotels in the same area.
Has everything you need and more such as the welcoming treats left out on arrival.
Good location in terms you're still nice and close to Wick to grab some shopping and tour the local area. Nothing not to like!
- Lesley (10/5): Hidden Gem in Wick - Beautiful cottage. Amazing decor, luxury finishes. Host was so helpful. Hidden Gem in Wick. Close to town. star gazing at night wow! Has everything you need for a holiday on the NC500 Nothing
- James (10/5): Absolutely exceptional stay with amazing host! - We loved everything about our stay! Very modern in an old style renovated cottage. Loved the old style latched doors and the shower was fabulous with a powerful stream! Upon arrival we were left a picnic hamper of a Tesco Finest Red Wine and tasty snacks! Facilities were exceptional and upon leaving had a pleasant wave and toot of the horn from Fiona! Bed was lovely and cosy and heating was almost too much for me being third trimester pregnant but was so nice to come in from the snow and in no way is a negative! Will definitely be returning later on in the year during summer! Nothing! We loved everything about it and could not fault it !
- Motsamai (10/5): Exceptional - Really cozy, fiona the host was sensational and was very prompt in responding to us when we had queries
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catriona (10/5): Wonderful, Relaxing, convenient location - The cottage is just beautiful. It’s decorated very tastefully and comfortable The road is very busy at times which can be noisy if you are sitting outside but even that didn’t distract from the location
- Denisa (10/5): The Drumdry cottage is absolutely stunning, furnished to aj high standards. Fiona is an excellent host and we would not - Beautifully furnished. There was everything one needs for a short stay. Absolutely stunning place. Fiona was in touch before our arrival as well as throughout- checking in with us, which was so lovely. A welcome basket was very much appreciated- thank you so, so much. 😊 Nothing. There is absolutely nothing to fault.
- Priyatam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clifford (10/5): Probably the best self catering accommodation we have stayed in. - The property was excellent it was like walking into a new home and very tastefully furnished. The welcome basket was full of goodies and the host messaged me to check we had all we needed. Couldn’t fault it 🥳 Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): Relaxing in a beautiful setting - Beautiful inside and out, maintained to a exceptional standard, comfortable beds and lovely welcome basket
- Colosseum (9/5): Superb -
- Hugh (10/5): Beautiful - Beautifully renovated and equipped. One of the nicest holiday houses I have ever stayed in. Nothing!
- Robert (10/5): Great base to tour the top of mainland Scotland - Very comfortable just like home well provided with homely comforts. Nothing
- Paula (10/5): Very relaxing. Fiona helpful - Very clean, tastefully decorated.Kitchen very well equipped. Nothing
- Megan (10/5): Wonderful holiday in a beautiful part of the world. - Beautifully designed house close to John o Groats and the NC500 but also lovely local places to explore like Whaligoe Steps and Castle Sinclair Girnigoe. Duncansby Stacks is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. Even got to see a glimpse of the northern lights!
The only neighbours were very sweet ewes and lambs.
We loved the little basket of goodies on arrival, delicious and made the house extra welcoming.
Extremely well-equipped kitchen though it took a while to hunt down the hidden spatula draw.
You could definitely get to this cottage without having a car and then stay home and enjoy the house, it's really lovely, but to make the most of this place and the surroundings, a fair amount of driving is needed (but that is quite unavoidable of course going on holiday to somewhere so remote). I'm glad I took extra towels with me because even with the lovely ones provided I did have to use them all when I accidentally soaked the bathroom multiple times because of the design of the shower. Figured it out on my third attempt... :D
It is also quite close to the fast road if you have pets or children perhaps. It also means sitting outside could be noisy if it's busy (but do note by busy I mean a few cars per minute etc. A barely noticeable thing when you're surrounded by all the sheep and sunshine on the patio).
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Great pre-arrival communications & support offered during the stay. Nicely appointed, and with everything you'd want for a weeks' stay. Theoretically possible to walk into Wick from the property - there's a pavement the entire way! Lots of good/free car parking in town though
- Chris (10/5): An example of how to get it right when renting a holiday home - This section of the NC500 doesn't enjoy the same reputation for scenery and hidden gems that other parts of the route do, and that is fair (Wick is a working port and - sorry - a little dour), BUT this property and the service from Fiona were EXCEPTIONAL. It was immaculate, spotless, finished to a high degree of practicality and luxury, easy to find, and very comfortable to stay in. The kitchen was fully equipped, the bed was super comfortable, and the instructions for everything were very clear. There was an above-average welcome hamper, as well, which was a nice touch. N/A
- Darren (10/5): This is the cottage you are looking for. - Absolutely everything.
From the moment we walked in, we knew we had chosen something very special.
The cottage and everything within were clean and very well appointed. There was milk in the fridge and a very well stocked hamper, including wine and various snacks waiting for us in the kitchen. The coffee machine and the coffee pods were a nice touch.
There is a very nice patio area, and the garden was secure and nicley laid out.
Morning coffee on the patio was a real treat.
Far reaching views all around. Walks, beaches and supermarkets all within a 10 minute drive.
Fantastic place.
- Ruth (10/5): The perfect cosy get away in Caithness - Drumdry is perfectly located just outside of Wick and in a great location for the whole of Caithness. The cottage itself is quiet, secluded and secure. It is also a very high spec and had everything we needed for a weeks stay. It was warm, cosy, and very comfortable. There is nothing to dislike about Drumdry. We had a warm welcome and felt very at home.
- Alana (10/5): Very pleasant stay, lovely house and friendly host. - Drumry is a beautiful house in a great setting for exploring the local area. Getting into the property is very simple and the host is very helpful and kind and goes above expectations to make your stay comfortable! This was our second visit and we will definately be back 😊
- Siobhan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): Exceptional - Everything.
Absolutely stunning property.
Ideal location to visit my family and friends who still live in the area Having to leave at the end of our stay :(
- Samantha (10/5): Excellent. Very comfortable. - A home from home! It really was lovely! The attention to detail was excellent. We will definitely stay there again. The only thing and I feel this is me being picky was that it did get cold pretty quickly. It was pretty chilly when we arrived but once we put the heating in it did warm up quickly.
- Catherine (10/5): Convenient for NC500 and finished to a high standard with everything we needed - The property is decorated and furnished to a high quality. The location was brilliant for our NC500 trip. Secure garden for our dogs, and the property had everything we needed. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others Nothing everything was perfect for us

- Lesley (10/5): Special property in a lovely location. - The house was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. It also accepted dogs. It was summer but it got cold in evening, we found the heating worked super quickly and was very effective.
- Anonymous (10/5): the property made my break in Scotland - brand new, fantastically well done nothing
- Alisha (10/5): Exceptional - Super easy to check in, lovely welcome gifts. Cottage was spotlessly clean and the beds were so comfortable. - Susan (10/5): A real little treat. - Everything!! It was totally on point and very well thought out, nothing was missed at all. Very well placed property with it being just far enough out of town, but well within reach of everywhere I wanted to get to. Exceptionally clean, cosy and comfortable with everything I could possibly want and more. Despite being on the main road, very little of the passing traffic could be heard. Owner was friendly, approachable and easy to contact. Would highly recommend this beautiful little place. (It was great fun watching the lambs running around causing havoc in the fields next to the cottage) Nothing!!
