Guest Reviews
- Anthony (8/5): Beautiful boutique hotel, lovely spaces to sit and watch nature including the monkeys. Very relaxing. Fire pit in the ev -
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Nawarathne (10/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): - Quiet location, comfortable and good service. It was pouring with heavy rain while there and the staff were very helpful.
- Liesbet (10/5): - It’s a beautiful place in nature.
I recommend it
- Patrick (9/5): Fabulous family room. Staff attentive. Owner, had thought about creating a luxurious place to stay. There is even a bath - Great place to stay in the large family room. Expensive if you are only one.
- Elizabeth (8/5): A good place from which to explore the hill country with comfortable facilities and a great manager. - There was a lot of space and communal areas to enjoy indoors and outside which were comfortable and attractive. Sitting outside and listening to the birdsong in the canopy above was lovely. The bed was very comfortable and it was great to have a sofa in our room. Also there was a good supply of hot water. The manager was very warm, friendly and would help with anything.
Tranquilisle is a fairly short walk from Galaha ,the closest small town with access to public transport. It rained a lot during our stay and it was hard to manage the damp in our bedroom and bathroom.
The menu was not so typical of the Sri Lankan food we had in other places and rather lacking in vegetables. Maybe it was characteristic of this area but I didn’t enjoy it as much as food encountered elsewhere.
- David (10/5): This is a super comfortable place to stay with a very friendly and helpful host. Amazing choice of delicious food for di - Perfect location if doing the Pekoe Trail and has a fantastic host. All good.
- Santiago (10/5): Tranquility and refined taste in the heart of the tea terraces - We celebrated Mica’s 32nd birthday at Tranquilisle and it was truly unforgettable. The staff, especially Sathees, went above and beyond to make it special, with beautiful flowers in the room, a lovely ambient setup, and even a birthday pudding at dinner. Such thoughtful attention to detail.
The lodge itself is stunning — tastefully decorated, thoughtfully laid out, and incredibly peaceful. The atmosphere allowed us to fully connect with the beauty of the Kandy highlands.
Highly recommended.
- Andrew (10/5): One of the best properties we’ve stayed at. - Everything! I think they had thought about everything Just the bread at breakfast. Be nice to have fresh bread rather than packet bread
- Camilla Stolfi (10/5): - Bellissimo!
Grazie grazie grazie
- Paris (10/5): - Beautiful and peaceful oasis on the first stage of the Pekoe Trail. The outdoor areas were amazing to relax in, lunch and dinner were delicious, rooms very comfortable
- Miroslav (10/5): -
- Miroslav (10/5): - This is our 5th visit to Sri Lanka and this accommodation is the best we have visited so far. The accommodation offers privacy in stylish apartments. A big advantage is having a heated pool. The rooms are comfortably equipped with all the basic amenities you need (kitchenette, fridge, TV, air conditioning, safe, kettle ...). A big surprise is the outdoor bathtub. We recommend taking an evening bath with aromatic salt in nature. Every evening we could relax by the fire that the staff prepared for us. Thanks to the helpful staff, we felt like in heaven. We especially thank Mr. SATISS (operations manager) for his professional care. He fulfilled all our wishes and always with a smile and thanks to him we really enjoyed our stay. We recommend this hotel. there is nothing that would bother us!
- Leong (10/5): An oasis of comfort and luxury. - A lovingly designed villa with attention given to even the smallest piece of decor. Very lush garden and beautiful planting. The whole place exudes charm and luxury. Both Stage 1 and 2 of the Pekoe Trail are easily reachable from here with very scenic views.
- Sarah (10/5): A special place to celebrate Christmas. - Beautiful property with gorgeous garden. Lovely touches in food presentation. Generous breakfast and dinner. Sitting round the bonfire with masala chai. Very attentive staff.
- Godfried (8/5): - Very tranquil indeed. Great location The room did not have a window for ventilation, only a skylight and a bathroom ventilator, so it did not feel well aired.
The bed had only a blanket and no top sheet, which I do not consider very hygienic

- Lucy (9/5): -
- Jamie (9/5): - Beautiful place surrounded by forest, alive with sounds. The room was very nice and I loved the big bathroom with hot tub - what a treat! We were hiking the Pekoe trail and it was only a 15 minute walk from the end of day 1. The hosts organised a tuk tuk so I can get some beer from Galaha town. The food was delicious and there's a big selection of English books that you can borrow. They also made some sandwiches for us to take on the trail the following day!
- Christian (10/5): A true Sri Lankan paradise! - A true paradise on earth. Pleasant climate, a beautifully designed and spacious accommodation, lovingly and tastefully decorated with something to discover everywhere. Lovely clean bathrooms with large showers. Fantastic breakfast and dinner—Sri Lankan style, but also with options like toast and omelettes. A wonderful pool, perfect for cooling off. What I’ll remember most, however, is the incredible jungle-like soundscape, as if on an expedition into a rich and vibrant wilderness. A hike along the Pekoe Trail is also highly recommended—our kids came back in full Indiana Jones mode! Sathees was an exceptionally kind, polite, and wonderful host. A unique and authentic piece of Sri Lanka, just as we had hoped, far away from over-tourism.
- Theresa (6/5): - We loved the location, it‘s a very beautiful calm and quiet place, perfect for relaxing! The breakfast was really good and the manager was super kind. The decorations are beautiful and the place is well taken care of. However, the one thing that has to be improved is mould smell in our room - we noticed the smell for some days in our clothes, and think it is because there is no window in the room that can be open, only a glass ceiling. If this would be taken care of, it‘s the perfect place for a relaxing holiday!
- Nicholas (8/5): Great facilities and lovely host; however with young kids it’s a bit difficult getting into Kandy (1 hour) - Beautiful cottage / bungalow, with lovely attentive staff Quite a distance from Kandy (1hr) in car tuk
- Bert Jan (9/5): Smaakvol ingericht appartement. Fijn huis, mooie omgeving in de theeplantage - Smaakvol ingericht
- Veer.s (10/5): Exceptional - It's a beautiful place. The food is very good, the room was very comfy and private. Sathee and the other members of the staff are genuinely pros at what they do.
- Marie-claude (9/5): Superb -
- Lucinda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ciara (9/5): Superb - Beautiful property in a stunning part of the country.
Countryside, tea plantations all around you. Great restful place after a long day of driving.
We opted for dinner there also which was really good. It's not near Kandy town at all, it was fine for us as we prefer the countryside, but just something to think about.
- Amer (10/5): Truly lives up to its name - tranquillity in the jungle with pure luxury - Excellent all round - this is a real find.
Well designed, wonderfully maintained.
- Gihan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janina (10/5): Great friendly lovely surroundings and yummy food. - The setting was lovely, the staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. When we arrived after walking all day the pool was amazing to relax in as it was heated.
The dining and breakfast was great. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka.
- Sakura (10/5): Exceptional - We're extremely happy that we chose Tranquilisle for our stay in Galaha. They exceeded our expectations making it a perfect getaway. Satheesh gave us a warm welcome and his hospitality was quite exceptional throughout our stay. He was pleasant, friendly, and available whenever we wanted any assistance.
Interior and decorations are quite adventurous. Amenities are all of good quality standards. We loved and enjoyed the jacuzzi with the sky view glass top. And you won't believe this, they have a heatable plunge pool which I think is a big plus given how cold water can be up high in the mountains. We really enjoyed the pool and wished we had more time to enjoy.
Last but not least, they have a wonderful chef. We had Penne Arrabhiata for dinner, and undoubtedly, it's the best pasta dish we've ever had so far. Meal prices are also reasonable with decent portion sizes. Our stay came to an end with an unforgettable breakfast by the poolside. It was delicious, and we had the company of two friendly doggies, which was the icing on the cake for us animal lovers.
We usually don't visit the same place again, as it's always nice to try new places, yet Tranquilisle just changed that for us. We will definitely visit there once again as this place is truly worth it. Nothing
- Chathrika (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gevorg (10/5): Tranquil experience at Tranquilisle - Great modern rooms, beautiful landscaping and excellent food. Also this is one of the few pet friendly hotels in Sri Lanka.
- Josiah (10/5): It feels like a home away from home - Peaceful setting. A clean, thoughtful, cozy and comfortable place with excellent service and food. Beautiful nature surroundings We were here on a rainy day and walking nearby ended up with leeches. This however is common in most nature areas in Sri Lanka, only be prepared.
- Kazi (8/5): Amazing - The interiors and the care takers the fact that is quite and peacefull The huge hunts man spider
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful property, so much space and spotlessly clean. Everything was perfect. Not a single mosquito!!!!!
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - 100 / 100 perfect. Walking the Pekoe Trail and recommend this place 100% Thank you for the kind service , the outstanding food and memorable atmosphere.
- Akeela (10/5): Exceptional - Very homely and lovely and pleasant stay
- Устьянцева (10/5): Exceptional - This villa will fit to those, who want to escape from noisy and crowded places to nature but live in comfort at the same time. The villa is located almost 1-hour drive from Kandy and about 1-hour from Royal Botanic Garden (strongly recommend to visit), you can reach there by Tuk Tuk, watching unbelievable views of mountains when riding at mount serpentines. There is local waterfall nearby you can visit and swim, water is quite warm and there are no tourists.
We have enjoined staying at this villa.
- David (9/5): Peaceful property in beautiful location - As with other reviewers we loved the peaceful location to sit and enjoy the wonderful views and bird wach. Location of property was great for us to trek stages 1 and 2 of the Pekoe Trail. We were well looked after by Sathees and the other staff who prepared us excellent freshly prepared food. Nothing.
- Koooney (10/5): Magical place surrounded by nature - This place exceeded our expectations! We were surrounded by beautiful nature and could relax after hiking the first stage of the Pekoe Trail. The pool was amazing and the food was one of the best in our holiday. The staff welcomed us warmly and prepared a bonfire for us. We highly recommend staying in Tranquilisle!
- Guy (7/5): Slightly overprized - Tranquilisle is located in a valley surrounded by tea plantations. The bed is comfortable and it is relatively quiet at night. Some improvements need to be done in order to welcome international guests. The young caretaker did his best but doesn't understand English well enough. That's why I had to phone the owner again and again. Unfortunately it is inconvenient to open and close the window as there is a sofa in front of it. The bathroom is luxurious, but you have to raise the shutters with a remote control at night to go to the toilet. That's why the guest house is slightly overpriced.
- Eske (10/5): Beyond expectations - full immersion with nature - Staying at Tranquilisle went far beyond our expectations on all imaginable parameters. The location is fantastic, some 30 min from Kandy, with beautiful nature embracing you from all sides - and perfectly placed in between stage 1 and 2 of the new and highly recommendable Pekoe Trail. The superb accommodation was exceptionally well thought, designed and build with attention to aesthetics, functionality and simplicity - enforcing the experience of full immersion with the surrounding nature, but with all the luxury one desires. Breakfast, lunch and dinner was very well and timely prepared and based on local produce and recipes - however modified to allow all regardless of age and tastebuds to get their bellies full. Last but not not least the host and his team went far beyond what one can expect of friendly, warm and helpful hospitality and service. Our entire family immediately fell in love with Tranquilisle and didn’t want to leave again. We will come back for sure!
- Hansana (10/5): Heaven on earth🔆 - The view is breathtaking, and the weather is just amazing. The place is incredibly clean and very convenient.
They've got a HEATED POOL! WIFI! and a whole lot of books you can catch up on.
I love the concept..
Highly recommended.
