• Dimitrios (10/5): Really lovely hotel in the heart of Kyoto. - Actually a really spacious studio. Love the 4 bottles of free water instead of the standard 2 we get everywhere else. Fantastic shower with bath tub, a really lovely bathroom. Toilet room was a bit small but it’s not bad at all, love that it’s separate to shower room. You get free snacks and drinks (soft and alcoholic) which is truly phenomenal and I’m so grateful for the treats. If you stay in the studio section of the hotel you go through a different area to access your rooms. Feels very luxe, private and exclusive. Also uber eats has a lot of options nearby. Great location for Kyoto. Highly recommend. Not big things but something to consider for the hotel. Having some vegan snacks in the snack room would make me so happy or labelling what allergens there are on the little cards on the snack dispensers. Would love to see a small mirror in the toilet room. A large painting above the sofa would elevate the room too as it can feel a bit overly minimalist, but overall not really anything to fault with the facilities honestly. I’m just picking things that aren’t important for the stay. Also I’m tall and can see there’s a layer of thick dust on the very top shelf above the wine glasses There is some building work happening next door so if you lie in you will hear a little bit.
• Paula (9/5): Super komfortable Unterkunft mit viel Platz in toller Lage! - Tolle Aussicht, viel Platz, gute Lage, komfortabel mit gratis Snacks und Drinks rund um die Uhr und Waschmaschine und Trockner im Keller. -Ich hatte ein bisschen Probleme mit der AirCo-Luft. Gerade über dem Bett sehr trocken, was bei mir Husten ausgelöst hat. Sicher eine individuelle Reaktion, die nur Empfliche teilen. - Ungefähr 1,5 Meter vom Fenster entfernt ist ein neues Gebäude gebaut worden, das noch im Bau befindlich ist. Bisher endet es auf derselben Etage, wie das Hotel. Während unserer vier Tage (Freitag bis Dienstag) haben wir dort niemanden gesehen, hätten dort aber Bauarbeiter gearbeitet, hätten wir auch über Tag für unserer Privacy die Hälfte der Fenster mit Gardinen verdunkeln müssen. Das wäre schon schade gewesen. Geschweige denn dessen, wie es aussieht, wenn das neue Gebäude fertig gebaut und in Greifabstand gegenüber steht.
• Samantha (9/5): We were so impressed with this place from beginning to end. - The room was amazing, definitely the largest of our four during our two weeks in Japan. It was so nice to finally be able to spread out. The location to Kyoto station was really convenient but it’s also out of the main part of the city. Also, the room with snacks and drinks was a really nice addition, as were the records and games. Again, the location is fine - great proximity to Kyoto station but not near the main part of Kyoto businesses.

Lots of eating places & convenience stores close by. Amazing amount of room for Japan accommodation. Nice big bathroom vanity to spread out toiletries. Great the toilet was in a separate room to the shower. Would have liked somewhere in the bedrooms to put your day to day stuff. The things that don’t get hung in the wardrobe. Needed a unit (like a dresser).

• Fabrice (8/5): Great luxury retreat place easy to reach by foot from Kyoto station - Very comfortable studio apartment - especially for the standard of space in Japan ! Very. Purist of atmosphere and great bathroom with massive shower - the location is very practical as 5-10 min walk from station Kyoto - While the service was very reactive, the front office is shared with the 3stars hotel and in my view didn’t always meet the standard of prices of th hideout 400€+ per night…. For instance we asked for some change for the machines to be put on our bill (or even charged to credit card immediately ) as we didn’t have any and were told it wasn’t possible and to go to an atm somewhere … first world problems I know ;) overall we had a great stay and otherwise good reactive support

• Rebecca (10/5): Spacious well appointed rooms and excellent service - Spacious room with a full size kitchen which is refreshing for a Japanese hotel. Comfortable large beds and premium quality linen, towels and bathroom amenities. Wonderful bonus of the communal drinks and snack station within the Hideout section of the hotel. Shared laundry amenities with the Tunestay hotel are an excellent feature. Staff were all welcoming and provided excellent local information and recommendations. Staff went above and beyond to arrange an earlier check in and also help investigate a lost bag with a luggage forwarding service. I would not hesitate to stay again or recommend to anyone travelling to Kyoto. Nothing.

• Wendy (10/5): Amazing stay, wish we could’ve stayed here the whole trip! - We stayed in the premium suite for 4 nights and by far, this was the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at! The room is extremely spacious (rare find in Japan), bed was comfortable and there are complimentary snacks for guests. Nothing!

• jamsif (10/5): Modern apartment vibes in an old city - The space was huge, there was so much space to spread out. The bed was firm, but not too firm and it was a very quiet area. The full kitchen was so nice, even though we didn't do any cooking on our short trip I think this would be really great for longer stays. The entrance was a little strange because you had to walk through a lobby and then back outside to go into another building, but it wasn't too bad... it was just really cold when we were there which made it feel more troublesome.

They set up a Happy Birthday surprise for him which was sooo beautiful and thoughtful! It feels really private and quiet and the snacks, drinks, games and records in the lounges were a HUGE plus! Great location too for day trips as it’s super close to Kyoto station and only a short journey to Shijo street for shopping! Quite literally the most perfect hotel and the best stay I have had in my life! Nothing it’s perfection.

• Joseph (10/5): We had an absolutely wonderful stay. - It was a short walk from Kyoto Station which we absolutely loved. Food around the area is abundant. There’s even a little restaurant at the corner of the street and across it, FamilyMart. The hotel itself was incredible. The facilities were so stylish. There’s even a 24-hour bookstore where you can also lounge around. The two different lounges at the Hideout building were also so cool. We made sure to make full use of the coffee machine and the snack bar. Our suite was so clean, comfortable, and absolutely beautiful. We plan on coming back! Nothing. It was a fantastic stay.

We took Ubers that we’re abundantly available and short rides to most places. I didn’t realize that I had specified a Japanese style room. It was nice, just not what I had expected.
• Simon (10/5): Undefeated. - This is our fourth time at Hideout and it remains the best hotel in Asia in our option. The junior suit is the best bang for your buck. Thank you again for an amazing trip. Would like to see more amenities for the bath tub offered to the guest. I think they would enjoy bath bombs or onsen powders if they were available.

• Lilly (9/5): Good location and huge apartment - The apartment was HUGE. Great setup in the kitchen plus a dining table. Bathroom and bedrooms were great. Beds were firm. Extra toilet was a huge bonus and you could close off the space if someone was sleeping. Access to snacks and drinks in the lounge just for the apartment guests, which was lovely. Hotel had a great vibe. Walk to Kyoto station. Some good restaurants close by so you could walk to dinner. We wanted a quieter area away from the main shops and it was good for that. Would recommend for size, quiet and convenience, but not for comfort or local vibe. Beds were firm, pilows were great. There's a 7-11 and Donki within 5 mins so easy to get quick meals and snacks. The lounges were very uncomfortable. We chose this apartment for the lounge area so we could relax at night but they were very hard, too high and fixed so you couldn't enjoy the view. A couple of occasional chairs would have fixed that so it's a shame. We also expected a tower view but it was just a view of the local buildings, although you could see the lovely hills in the background. Toiletries and slippers should have been better quality for such an expensive place - they were pretty basic.

• Thomas (8/5): Recommend if space is your preference; not so much if looking for amenities/location. - The "apartment" was very nice and spacious. It was odd that you had to enter/check-in at a low-end hotel (almost hostel-like) and the general area was not the best. While the apartment (v. hotel room) was clean & spacious, the "snack lounge" was lacking. Having just stayed at the Intercontinental in Tokyo, Club Level (for less $), this was a definite downgrade.
