Guest Reviews
- Rohan (10/5): Staying at Vanvaas Hostel in Kalgha felt like finding a home in the mountains, filled with warmth, great food, and unfor - I spent a week at Vanvaas Hostel in Kalgha, and it was the most wonderful yet affordable stay I could have asked for. The owner is incredibly humble, and the staff is warm and affectionate, making you feel right at home.
The food is amazing—they’ll make practically anything you ask for, and the Hand Toast Pizza is a must-try! They also help you plan your itinerary and even join you on mountain hikes, adding a personal touch to the experience.
The cozy ambiance, breathtaking mountain views, and homely atmosphere make Vanvaas feel like a home in the mountains. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kalgha! There is absolutely nothing that you would dislike abt this place except the. Chilly morning cuz the temp goes beyond -3 hehe
- Pushkar (10/5): Exceptional - To call this antique cottage a mere "stay" would be an injustice. It is, in truth, a timeless poem written in stone and wood, a tranquil hymn to the Himalayas, and a testament to the enduring beauty of life lived close to nature. It’s a place where every moment feels like a cherished memory in the making, leaving visitors with a longing to return, even before they’ve left.
Before getting into the details let me tell you, Parathas by Paddy are heavenly and Prateek sir will definitely keep you on your toes with his enchanting personality.
As for "Vanvaas" A Journey Back in Time: The Enchanted Antique Cottage of Parvati Valley
Perched in the emerald embrace of the majestic Parvati Valley, this antique cottage homestay is not just a dwelling but an eloquent ode to time itself. Here, amidst the whispering pines and snow-kissed peaks, the past and present converge in a harmonious duet, creating an abode that is as much a sanctuary for the soul as it is a feast for the senses.
The architecture of the cottage tells its story in murmured prose. Stone walls, weathered by decades of Himalayan winters, exude an earthy gravitas, while intricately carved wooden beams whisper tales of artisanal mastery. The gabled roof, clad in slate shingles, appears to nod in rhythm with the soft hum of the valley’s crisp winds. Each creaking floorboard and timeworn door handle seems to hold a fragment of a forgotten era, preserved with reverent care.
Inside, the air is tinged with the comforting aroma of cedarwood and old books. A crackling hearth serves as the heart of the living space, casting flickering shadows on tapestries that seem to have absorbed the valley’s essence.
The experience of staying here is a pilgrimage into the sublime. Mornings begin with a symphony of bird calls and the playful gurgle of a nearby brook. There is nothing that you won't "love".

- Vikram (10/5): Recommended for a traveller who wants a simple holiday, removed from materialistic needs - Simple, hearty meals, tasty and fresh, fresh vegetables and fruit, good tea. Excellent views, removed from the hustle and bustle, rustic, excellent, understanding host who looked after us very well. WiFi was excellent. Had a great, satisfying time. A room heater would have been nice but the blankets were heavy and warm.
- Mukund (10/5): VanVaas Vibes: Cozy Comforts & Postcard Views in Himachal-Total LOVE 🌄🧡 - OMG🧡, VanVaas in Kalgha was like a dream come true! Imagine being right in the heart of the mountains in Himachal Pradesh with views that are literally out of a postcard! 🌄 The place has this super cozy vibe but with all the modern stuff you could need (yep, strong WiFi too—total lifesaver!).
They even have a kitchen with a coffee machine (hello, morning lattes!) and some fancy extras like wine and champagne for a little extra sparkle. Breakfast was a chef's special, with all kinds of local treats, pancakes, and my favorite part—a coffee shop right there to keep the caffeine coming! ☕️
Can just chill by the outdoor fireplace (seriously, such a vibe) or go on the coolest sightseeing tours they organize. They even have car rentals, so we got to check out all these awesome spots nearby like Tosh, Bunbuni, and Manikaran. And with the Kullu-Manali Airport just 50 km away, it’s super easy to reach. Owner & staff were so so helpful in guiding me throughout and at each n every step.. Can't ask more at such great price with so much care and warmth! Yay!!
Honestly, if you want nature, comfort, and a little adventure all rolled into one, VanVaas is the bestest - best place to stay! I'm glad about it -1000% Heavenly experience!! 🧡🧡🧡 JUst in love wid the experience🫠🫠🫠

- Shetty (10/5): Will surely come again - The location is excellent, the chef who prepared food was delicious. And the hospitality was as close as one gets at his own home. The washroom and bathroom was really clean Nothing at all .. everything was perfect.
- Himanshu (10/5): "Vanvaas was a peaceful haven with warm hospitality, and stunning natural surroundings. -
- Monarkd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Azim (10/5): Discovering the Hidden Gem of Kasol - My adventure began in Tosh, one of Kasol's renowned hotspots. Seeking a tranquil escape from the crowds, I asked a local cafe owner for a recommendation. He suggested a hike to the nearby village of Kalga. This trek is notably easier than many, offering breathtaking views of picturesque fields and stunning landscapes.
On my return to Tosh, I stumbled upon Vanvas Homestay—an idyllic retreat that truly lives up to its name, meaning "A Stay in Wilderness." After a rewarding hike, Vanvas was the perfect sanctuary to relax and enjoy a delectable meal.
While sipping tea in the cozy cabana, I had the pleasure of meeting Prateek, the owner. His warm hospitality and genuine kindness made my stay exceptional. He not only offered me the finest room on the property but also personally ensured my comfort throughout my visit.
The evening at Vanvas was magical, highlighted by a bonfire and an exquisite dinner prepared by Chef Suraj. The chef’s special cottage cheese curry was one of the most memorable dishes I've tasted in the valley. Emphasizing a holistic lifestyle, Prateek’s homestay promotes the serene seclusion of its location.
That night, I was treated to a spectacular view of the star-studded sky, complemented by the crisp, cool weather. Though my stay was brief, I felt a deep connection with the place and its owners. Before checking out, I already planned my return for Christmas '24.
Vanvas is more than just a homestay—it's a true home in the wilderness.
