• Caroline (10/5): - Wir waren 2 Nächte im Hotel Nereus. Mit Sicherheit eine der besten Adressen in Puerto Jimenez. Tolle, geräumige Zimmer. Ruhig. 3 Minuten Gehweg zum menschenleeren mit Palmen gesäumten Strand. Kurze Distanz nach Puerto Jimenez, wo es gute Einkaufsmöglichkeiten gibt.

Being in such a remote location, it was very important for us to feel comfortable, safe, and at home—and Nereus delivered on all of that. The retreat is a beautiful oasis, offering a perfect balance between nature and well-maintained, spotless facilities. It’s an ideal place both to explore the surrounding environment and to fully relax. The location is exceptional, just a short walk from a stunning, secluded beach that was always quiet and felt like our own private paradise. What truly made our stay unforgettable, however, was the care and attention to detail shown by the owners and staff. They anticipated our needs and made sure everything was taken care of. The food was another highlight—healthy, balanced, fresh, and absolutely delicious. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Viel Platz zum Ausbreiten und Aufhängen etc. Wir waren vom Frühstück und Abendessen begeistert und wären gerne länger geblieben. Der Strand war unglaublich schöne. Wir kommen gerne wieder. -

• Katherine (10/5): Nereus is one of those places I should be gatekeeping. - Nereus is an amazing architecturally appealing small retreat. Stuart and Jen are not only kind and willing to book tours and taxis but also intuitive about offering the perfect amount of interaction. The food is divine and plentiful. The location is ideal - tucked off the sprawling beach that looks out over the Golfo Dulce. A dreamy place to escape.

• Martin (9/5): I would come back every time I could, it’s excellent - The place has a super chill and quiet vibe, excellent for a good rest and peaceful vacation. The service is really good, the food is incredible and different. We didn’t have the time to do yoga or surf which are activities offered at the place, but it has everything you need. Stuart is an excellent host. The room was really big and comfortable, the bathroom had a bidet and it had a terrace. Unluckily, the terrace and the view of the room was interrupted by the stairs of the room upstairs which really affected privacy as the neighbors who walked by could see inside the room if you hadn’t drawn the curtains.

• Creasy (10/5): Great jungle and beach retreat! - It's a beautiful remote property, with lovely hosts that run this less like a hotel and more like a bed and breakfast. The meals were delicious, and guests can sit and eat community style, which we loved. We did yoga in the morning with the hostess as much as we could, and really enjoyed that as well. One of the best locations we've been to!

Jen and Stuart are superb hosts and have a wonderful property equally suitable if looking for a yoga/retreat type break or a relaxing trip surrounded by nature/wildlife and the beach. Meals are taken in a buffet style with lunch and dinner optional, all delivering great healthy quality and flavour. No negatives at all

Everything was comfortable and clean. Nice bathroom products - environmentally friendly. The food is absolutely fantastic. Best we had on our trip. Loads of variety. Very reasonably priced. Nice beach too.

• Andrea (9/5): Schöner Ort um die Seele baumeln zu lassen! - Schöne Zimmer und Außenanlage, Weg direkt zum Strand, sehr ruhig, Möglichkeit direkt in der Unterkunft am Abend zu essen, viele Vögel und Schmetterlinge in und um Nereus Gravelroad in sehr schlechtem Zustand (Zeitpunkt Ende November 2025), bei Eigenanreise ist ein SUV notwendig!
• Christoph (7/5): - Die Lage des Hotels direkt am Strand ist wirklich toll und die Gastgeber waren sehr freundlich. Das Frühstück war in Ordnung. Weniger positiv war jedoch der sehr schlechte Zufahrtsweg – die Anfahrt dauert ca. 20 Minuten und ist recht mühsam. Außerdem hatten wir trotz Fliegengitter viele Tiere im Zimmer, was den Aufenthalt etwas beeinträchtigt hat. Insgesamt eine schöne Umgebung, aber mit deutlichen Abstrichen beim Komfort.

Perfect spot for your tour to Corcovado, and you have access (3 min. walking distance) to a wonderful beach that was almost always empty when we were there. The couple that owns Nereus was really welcoming, breakfast was included but we also had the options to book lunch and dinner. Every meal is freshly cooked and they provide options for all diets (vegetarian etc.). Thank you for a wonderful time!
• Matthew (1/5): Terrible - Huge waste of time driving out to the property and not being let in by the guard despite having made a reservation, receiving a confirmation, and instructions and directions to the property from the hotel. The hotel owners were incomunicado with us and the guard and it resulted in hours of wasted drive time and waiting outside at night in the dark after a long work day.

• Max (9/5): Mi primera visita a Puerto Jiménez - Las habitaciones son impecables, así como el nivel de limpieza de todo el hotel. Ambiente tranquilo, muy cerca de la playa. La armonía con el entorno ecológico es sorprendente. El desayuno podría tener más variedad.

• María (10/5): Maravilloso!!! volveremos!! - Casa Nereus es un paraiso. Las habitaciones son enormes, con camas y almohada comodisimas y todo muy limpio. La atención es impecable. Sentimos mucha paz y pudimos descansar después de recorrer la costa del pacifico. Estás en la selva, pero a pocos pasos de una playa enorme y maravillosa donde nos dimos unos baños fantásticos. En las zonas comunes puedes descansar, tomar algo, darte un baño en la piscina o simplemente relajarte leyendo. Nos quedamos 5 noches y pudimos probar los desayunos, comidas y cenas. Todo estaba delicioso, hecho en casa y muy abundante. Casa Nereus es un lugar perfecto para desconectar el mundo, disfrutar de la naturaleza (tienes Corcovado a un paso) y sentirte en casa. Gracias Stuart y Jenns, sois unos anfitriones excelentes.
• Diana (10/5): Eine unserer Costa Rica Highlight Unterkünfte - ein Ort, an dem man spontan länger bleibt :) - Die Unterkunft hat uns sehr gut gefallen! Jen und Stuart haben eine kleine Oase geschaffen, mit unheimlich viel Liebe fürs Detail! Man merkt, das sie sehr viel Gedanken & Leidenschaft in die Anlage und jedes einzelne Zimmer gesteckt haben. Die zwei sind unheimlich freudlich und zuvorkommend. Zimmer und Badezimmer ist sehr groß und wertig eingerichtet. In zwei Wochen Costa Rica habe ich dort am besten geschlafen, Matratze und Bettwäsche war sehr gut. Die Terrasse vorm Zimmer ist auch groß und schön. Das Frühstück ist sehr hochwertig. Von 18 bis 19 Uhr kann zu Abend gegessen werden, es wird ein kleines buffet aufgebaut. Wir haben zwei Abendessen genossen und es war das leckerste, was wir in Costa Rica zu Abend gegessen haben. Und die Nähe zum Strand ist unschlagbar :) Der geteilte Außenbereich und der Pool könnten etwas großer sein.

Coffee is brewed by the time the sun rises, making it such a joy to grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the sunrise at one of the most beautiful beaches in the area, to then come back to a freshly prepared breakfast.

• Kafka (10/5): Holistic stay in paradise for the soul to rebound - Amazing property with super helpful and friendly owners. Arrival in paradise. Amazing and healthy food put together by the owner who is a nutritionist and yoga teacher. The property goes directly onto the beach. Wild life such as howler monkeys, macaws, the blue morpheus butterfly and other exotic birds fly around for easy observation. Early morning yoga was offered and it was nourishing. The other guests were super friendly and even as a solo traveler it was easy to connect during dinner or cocktail hour. It's secluded and when you arrive after taking a long bumpy road, you truly have arrived in paradise. The owner helped me organize my Corcovado trip and other excursions. They are very knowledgeable about the country and the region. I absolutely loved my stay and will be back again! It's best to have a car as depending on taxis or gracious lifts is a bit precarious and also becomes very expensive. It's not great for surfing but there are other beaches accessible by car where it's better.

They immediately asked about my dietary restrictions and made sure I had plenty of delicious vegan protein options—every meal was absolutely amazing. The rooms were super cute and cozy, and the pool was a great place to relax. The beach is just a short walk away, with soft sand and stunning views. The yoga space is one of the most beautiful I’ve practiced in, and daily yoga sessions added such a peaceful rhythm to my stay. The property is gorgeous, with monkeys playing in the trees and so much natural beauty all around. The owners were truly delightful—warm, welcoming, and attentive. I really enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area. If you get the chance to stay at Nereus, take it!

• Bettina (10/5): Excellent - Unique location and super friendly owner and staff. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, even backed a special cake for my birthday. Morning yoga class inclused as well as a delicious breakfast. Lunch and dinner at very reasonable prices. Location is remote, which is what we were looking for, if you are looking fpr party central this isn’t for you. Amazing almost empty beach a 3 minute walk from our cabin, amazing wild life. If we return to Osa Peninsula we will definitely stay there again. Nothing, everything about the property was great.

Thank you for looking after my husband when he felt frail. I love the room, the chairs. The forest location. That there was no artificial lighting in front of our room late at night ...the dark was a joy and seeing the sunrise through the trees The home cooking, the coffee the little seawater pool, the wild beach. The caring environment, lovely staff. The howler,the macaws , the things that went bump on our roof! Its a little different. The Golfe Dulce is away from the tourist trail and is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen There wasn't anything to grumble about!

• Josselyn (9/5): Beautiful location plus great food - Beautiful location, you get to see so many animals and feel totally surrounded by nature. The beach is stunning and is never crowded
• Meggan (10/5): Personalized Stay in a Pristine EcoLux Environment - The location is amazing with comfortable rooms (AC), a salt water pool and a protected beach steps away. We loved getting to know our fellow travelers while relaxing at the pool or beach. Additionally Nereus' friendly staff were able to provide local trips in the area, we went on a tour of the Corcovado National Park on a standard tour. The staff was able to customize days fishing and paddle boarding with the Captain Tom, who was able to tell us about everything around us. Their onside Massage Therapist/Yoga instructor, was there when we returned to help provide additional relaxation and services after our days of adventure. The food is excellent, they provide a large quantity of locally sourced food for delicious family style meals. We had a wonderful poke bowl / sashimi from that day's catch that would rival any sushi restaurant. The meals are served so you can pick your favorites and easily accommodate those with diet restrictions. Their staff is amazing and we can't wait to return. The Osa Peninsula is a jungle after all, therefore if you tend to attract mosquitos take some bug lotion and long pants for the evenings (or travel with a more juicy friend). Nereus does a great job of having fans that keep the bugs away, and I only got a few bites, no more than traveling in the US in similar environments.
