- Aisling (10/5): Exceptional Stay at Hanaakari - We had such a lovely stay at Hanaakari. Our host made us feel so welcome as soon as we got in the door. The option to use the Japanese pyjamas on our stay was a very nice touch. Would recommend.
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Morena (10/5): - Tout!
- jorge (10/5): Amazing place - Amazing ryokan Nothing
On a adoré.

- Manfredi Parodi (9/5): -

Consigliatissimo Niente
- Jeffrey (10/5): This hotel was a comfortable mix of modern and traditional ryokan that left us feeling refreshed and ready to explore Ka - So comfortable. Incredible attention to detail and very accommodating. A really beautiful stay that we would come back to. The host was very kind and thorough in his explanation of all the stay had to offer and what he recommended to do and eat in Kanazawa. Overall our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Nothing
- alexandra (10/5): EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT AND EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS -
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Inna (10/5): Exceptional boutique hotel - We loved everything: the location, the room, the facilities in the room. It’s a very authentic boutique hotel with a modern touch. The host is absolutely lovely. Highly recommended.
- Chris (10/5): Stay. Here. My favourite Booking.com booking ever. - Exceptional place to stay. Every detail is perfect, beautiful design and decor, spacious, comfortable and well-appointed. Host was exceptionally friendly and kind, and provided clear explanations and helpful sightseeing advice. Easy walk from train station. Quiet location.
- Cheuk Yan Cherry (8/5): - The room has equipped with a washing machine, detergent and softener, and the bathroom is able to dry clothes.
The neat design of the Japanese window softens the sunlight while remaining its brightness. The fact that it is unable to check in after 8pm and the response on booking.com takes more time than expected.
No seats or furnitures were placed at the little courtyard, the space is kind of just a decoration.
No parking space available and the nearest one would need at least a 5 mins walk, might not be very friendly with tourists with a big luggage.
- Mohamed (10/5): We loved our stay. Great place. -
- Zoey (10/5): - How friendly the host was and informative he was. I also liked our room and it's a cosy traditional-esque room
- Margot (10/5): -

- Rosendo (10/5): Family rooms with a blend of western and Japanese. Excellent hospitality! - Our host was amazing! Extremely hospitable and easy to talk to. He gave us various recommendations to explore within Kanazawa. Our room was cozy and comfortable for two people. I loved the tatami mat section of the room as well. I wish we stayed here longer! We had booked the Superior Family Room for our overnight stay, but I wish we went with the Deluxe Family Room instead! Access to a washing machine being the main reason for this decision. If we had spent more time in Kanazawa, we would have stayed here for 2 or 3 nights in the Deluxe Family Room!
- elisa (10/5): -
- Matthew (10/5): - Simply a spectacular place to stay in Kanazawa. It's very small, maybe five rooms, but the rooms we stayed in were quite spacious and perfectly designed. All the lovely small touches you'd expect at a high-quality Japanese hotel (welcome gift, toiletries, yukata), comfy beds, and a truly powerful shower. The one man on staff was a delight and was very happy to give us suggestions on where to go and what to do, and spoke perfect English.
Best of all, for the price we paid, this was a great deal. In Tokyo or Kyoto these rooms would easily be twice the price if not more. Easy walking distance from the train, and to the main sights as well. Highly recommend.
- Madison (7/5): - Clean Room was extremely small
- Westerman (10/5): Perfect spot. Seriously. Stay here. - The design of everything in the hotel, our room and the incredible hospitality from the staff. Our host was impeccable. Loved it completely.
- Fiona (6/5): Exquisite property and handy set up. Felt slightly away from the action for us but that could be a good thing for others - Absolutely beautifully designed and spacious. Handy laundry and bathroom turns into dry room A bit faraway from everything. Staff are not on property so they feel a little remote but didn’t really matter
- Donatella (9/5): We loved our stay and hope to return in the future! -
- Mei (8/5): -
- Alway (9/5): Excellent - The quiet, clean room and excellent location. The owner gentleman was friendly and informative about the area. There were a number of restaurants recommended but they generally seemed to be ‘reservation only’. It would have been helpful to have had more information about this and how to reserve a table. However we did eat at Sasami 333 one night which was excellent.
- Michelle (10/5): -

- Yuki Melissa (10/5): A hidden gem in Kanazawa - A hidden gem ! My husband and I completely fell in love with this hotel. It's a perfect mix of the beauty and the charm of the traditional Japan with the high-tech and the comfort of the modern Japan. All little details were perfect too.
The owner is so friendly and professional ! We stayed here only two nights, but we were feeling just like home.
We will definitely come back here, and for a longer stay next time. Nothing ! All was perfect !
- Dess Sabado-Babal (9/5): - The room has a great vibe because of the classy decor with modern esthetics of a Ryokan. Love the reception, very inviting and the manager is quite helpful of our needs. We went to restaurants that's recommended on the booklet , both turned out exceptional! Kanazawa is truly a gem especially the Garden. A bit pricey compares to other places we stayed in considering there's no breakfast included but really didn't not bother as much. The beautiful and quaint town made up for it!
- Mathias (10/5): - Beautiful property with spacious room! The host/staff was incredibly nice and helped us a lot with luggage transfer and tips! We were also lent an umbrella to go out, and generally had a great time.
Clean, well-located and overall a great place to stay while exploring Kanazawa!
- Wesley (10/5): - The host was extremely gracious and helpful during our stay.
- marta (10/5): Japanese cozy stay - Such a wonderful stay! The place was super clean, cozy, and full of little details that made it feel special. You can tell a lot of care went into everything — from the setup to the small touches around the room. Really nice japanese vibes, which is what we were looking for.
What really made the difference was the owner. So kind, attentive, and genuinely caring — he made sure we had everything we needed and shared great tips about the area. Thank you! I would definitely go back next time. All good!
- Timothy (9/5): Beautiful family run accomodation. Would definitely stay there again. Meticulously cared for with a welcoming and atten - Meticulously clean, beautifully decorated, safe and very secure. Well equipped. First rate host. Highly recommend. Unique touches.
- Dolores (10/5): Nice stay in lovely Kanazawa - We had a very nice stay at Haanakari. The room was spacious and well designed. We enjoyed the little touches like choosing our pjs and the present. The property is not far from the gesiha district. Would be nice if property could make restauarant reservations for us and we asked to borrow a knife which was not possible. Which we thought strange.

- Michelle (9/5): Really enjoyed my stay at this property. Very comfortable and a good size room, lovely host. - Lovely and quiet place. The host was exceptionally helpful and the room was fabulous. No iron available
- Hélène (9/5): - Accueil mémorable, merci a l’hôte. Chambre très belle et calme ! Super !!
- Kirstie (10/5): Beautiful boutique hotel in Kanazawa - wow! What an incredible stay at Hanaakari, a real highlight of our trip.
Our host was so friendly, even leaving me a very thoughtful and beautiful birthday gift which I will treasure.
We could check in early and enjoyed picking out traditional yukata for our stay.
The room is clean, modern and has everything you could need in terms of amenities. The tatami mat and garden area was a beautiful addition, we really enjoyed waking up here.
The location is a short walk to shops, restaurants and bus stops.
We would highly recommend and look forward to returning one day!
Thank you so much for hosting us. Nothing, the perfect stay.
- Michael (9/5): - Very comfortable and clean. Nice to have washing machine in room.
- Philipp (10/5): - Great little hide away, impeccable clean, very quite, very attentive staff. Loved the little mini in room ‚onsen‘. If you are looking for an alternative to corporate hotels, this is the place. -
- Biegner (10/5): Super sweet! Wish I could have stayed longer. - Just awesome. I had a spare day after things came up and decided to add Kanazawa to my itinerary. Saw this place and booked it. Part of me thought I should have extended my stay in Tokyo, but after staying here, my regret is that I didn't stay here longer. It's a cool building and we were greeted with the nicest person, who explained everything. He took my friend's luggage up for him, and then showed us basically how all the lights and windows and things worked. Asked us if we wanted yukatas and brought them up for us. Gifted us a couple of fans.
The room was great. Loved having the tatami area for tea in the morning. The shade worked incredibly well, kept the room almost night-like well into the morning. Obviously a lot of rooms in Japan are small, but this had enough space for me and my friend. It wasn't too far from the train station either, which made it easy to get to since we were primarily traveling via train. It's also pretty good walking distance to the castle and garden, which was the main thing we were looking to check out as we passed by.
He also asked us about our trip and where we're headed. I know Japan is known for hospitality, but he and this place have been pretty much the top lodging place for us so far. If you're ever in Kanazawa, definitely try to get here! I know I will whenever I might be back, if I'm lucky enough. Don't really have anything I didn't like. For lodging, this has been a highlight of my trip through Japan. Biggest issue was that I couldn't stay longer! Genuinely loved this place.
- McCormack (9/5): Beautiful, well located, and peaceful - The hotel was small so quiet and peaceful. It had a very Japanese feel which we liked. The host was very helpful with recommendations for places to eat and visit. The hotel had no laundry facilities.
- Jérôme (9/5): -
- Risa (10/5): Friendly host in neighborhood area - The location to the Kanazawa station was great and we loved that it was tucked into the neighborhood and not on a busy street. This apartment style hotel was unique and only had 5 rooms. The host was very nice and spoke great English. He greeted almost every time we went in and out of the building. He even had little Japanese souvenirs for us and the kids. The shutters on the sliding doors were fantastic and allowed us to sleep in. N/A
- Marthinus (9/5): The room was beautifully decorated and spacious. Our host was great and the location near the station was good. - A bit of a gem. At first we were not sure as this hotel is hidden in the neighbourhood, but it was a good surprise when we entered. Our host was exceptional and took a great deal of effort to explain the room to us and made us feel welcome.
- Colin (10/5): - The manager was very helpful and friendly. Thd room was stylish and well appointed. The location was excellent, close to the station and reasonable walking distance to all sights
- George (10/5): Wonderful stay in Kanazawa. Highly recommended! - Lovely, caring owner who spoke excellent English, and a comfortable stay in his boutique hotel. Nothing!
- Christine (10/5): Best stay of our Japan trip. Stay here before it becomes famous! - Super clean, very clever design and room layout, and felt like a luxury hotel. Everything was so cleverly designed, and it’s just so beautiful. We would happily stay again.
The real standouts were the details that don’t immediately jump out. The flower arrangements are beautiful and change regularly. The smell of the whole hotel is gorgeous. The shower space turning into a clothes drying room is magical. The art around the hotel is understated but gorgeous.
There is clearly so much pride in this beautiful little boutique hotel. I won’t be surprised to see it featured in a luxury travel magazine soon. We are thankful to have stayed here. We loved everything.
- Kate (10/5): Feel of a house stay - Modern yet with a feeling of a traditional house stay. Beautiful spacious room, traditional dining area & amazing shower room. Even got to wear traditional Japanese pyjamas!
Located in a quiet area yet only 10min walk from Kanazawa station.
Wonderful service & reception from staff.
- Fabio (10/5): Where modern comfort meets traditional charm, highly recommend! - We loved the charm of the traditional seating area within the room, coupled with the clean & modern rest of the room. Made for an exceptionally comfortable stay.
A huge bonus was having our own private washing machine in the room - which during a road trip was a nice bonus!
It was great value, as we’ve seen places similar to this charging more so we were very pleased.
We also thoroughly enjoyed the hosts suggested route through Kanazawa and how helpful he was. The closest parking we could find was a 10 minute walk which isn’t ideal with lots of luggage, wasn’t an issue and not the properties fault just important to note if you’re coming by car
- Natsuki (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): Excellent stay in Kanazawa for family - Brilliant spot, clean and modern with a touch of culture and tradition. Great location and host. Nothing
- Stefan (9/5): Cosy micro Hotel - super friendly and helpful manager🙏🙏🙏
- Jesica (10/5): Exceptional - Excepcional facilities and attention
- Marko (10/5): Superb - Everything. Interior is superb, host very nice, informative and helpfull. So far the very best accomodation in Japan. Strongly recomend.
- Nm (10/5): Exceptional - We loved everything about this hotel. The host was warm and welcoming. He was very thorough in explaining all the features of our room. We stayed in the Oudo (Ochre) Room, which was beautiful and very comfortable. The location of the hotel is fairly central, and we were able to walk to all the sights we wanted to see in Kanazawa. We cannot recommend Hanaakari enough. Many thanks to our gracious host for such a wonderful stay! Nothing! Everything was wonderful :)
- Kalem (10/5): Exceptional - -Got provided asahi beer upon arrival
-Room was spacious and looked awesome
- Kumiko (10/5): Co - Beautifully decorated room.
- Furey (10/5): Great time - Wonderful experience. The room was very spacious and clean. The owner spoke great English and was super helpful. The hotel is located in a convenient area.
- Yanni (8/5): Very good -
- Dubhe (10/5): Warm hospitality, peaceful location, and a roomy stay with all the little extras made it perfect! - The host was super sweet—greeted us with welcome gifts and drinks on arrival, making us feel right at home. Tucked in a peaceful Kanazawa neighborhood, just a chill 10-minute stroll from the station and near Omoide Yokocho. The room? Spacious and comfy, plus bonus points for having in-room laundry—total game changer!
- Erica (9/5): Super little boutique place. Loved the Zen vibe. - Very close to the station in a lovely location. A fair walk to town and would be good if the property provided a couple of bikes FOC to potter around on. Noisy air con.
- Henry (10/5): I can’t wait to come back! - Only stayed for two nights, and missing it already! I had the most wonderful time, the owner was extremely helpful, and we had a couple friendly talks (he was very patient and kind with my limited Japanese! 🙏)
- João (9/5): Great stay at a classic Japanese style hotel. - our best stay during a 20-day vacation in Japan. room is big and has a lot of ammenities. Nothing.
