- Elizabeth (8/5): A moment of tranquility. - Beautiful quiet spot to unwind and get some down time between work commitments. The shower was playing up while I was there but I expect that's a temporary issue. It would have been a tight fit for two people.
- Camilla (8/5): -
- Malcolm (2/5): Very poor. - Nothing Access at night was bad. From the parking area there was no lighting and it was very difficult to negotiate the way through farm gates. Inside facilities were very poor. The TV did not work - no programmes had been preset. Also there was no electric kettle. Only a kettle on an electric hob. I spent over 40 minutes trying each button and nothing would make it work. So no chance of even a cup of tea! I have never before stayed at a lodge without a working TV.

Loved everything about it Nothing to complain about
- Tarina (10/5): - Amazing use if a small space had absolutely everything we needed.
- Tom (10/5): - Loved everything..
Perfect setting, lovely hosts and a genuine gem of a stay over. N/A
- Katie (8/5): I had a lovely weekend. - Just right for the lone traveller. Location was nice and rural yet near to places i wanted to visit. Knepp, Pulborough brooks and south downs walks. Nothing
- Julie (9/5): Beautiful open views and a warm welcome. - Great property, just what we wanted for our trip to visit Knepp. Penelope is a shepherd's hut, beautiful location, with everything we needed, plus very comfortable and clean. Barbecue/fire pit made the experience even better, as we really did feel like we were out in nature. If it had had rained, there was a compact hob inside for cooking and tv with videos. Salena was great at welcoming us and making sure we had everything we needed. Excellent experience, perfect for walks. Thanks Salena! Penelope was perfect for our needs - we wanted a back to nature experience. So nothing we didn't like.
- Barron-west (9/5): A few very minor issues but overall a fantastic place, with really friendly and welcoming hosts - We had a wonderful one night stay at Penelope. The owners were a stones throw away and really friendly and accommodating. The location was gorgeous and it was really close to number of incredible places to visit for day trips. The cabin itself was really nice, super clean and comfortable. The outside area is perfect as well as it gives you that little bit of extra room. The welcome pack was a little sparse on details - the instructions for the toilet and hob could have been more specific. I'd never used an induction hob before so it took a little bit of figuring out. I would also have appreciated more specific directions to find the place as we ended up having to call to find it!
Inside the cabin, the one small table in the cabin was taken up by a pile of DVDs, a small TV and a radio. We appreciated the gesture but considering the placement of the TV I wasn't sure there was any way of watching it comfortably and I doubt it see's much use. I'd have preferred no TV and no radio so that we could reclaim a little of the very limited counter space.
- Hannah (7/5): Good - Clean and lovely staff who were very helpful. Comfortable bed and a very nice view. A good place to stay if you’re going to a wedding etc in the area as they also run a taxi service.
- Chloe (9/5): Superb -
- Yukogino (9/5): Superb - The location was perfect as we were walking the West Sussex Literary trail. So lovely to wake up in beautiful surroundings!
- Susan (8/5): Very good - Lovely location, very quiet Parking the car difficult
- Helen (9/5): Superb -
- Daryl (10/5): Beautiful tranquil and very comfortable - This Shepherds hut has everything you need and has been lovingly made to a high standard. The bed is one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in and I’m 5’9 !!! Shower is lovely and powerful and the whole interior is just adorable. The scenery is beautiful and the owners are so friendly and welcoming. I even got to see Fanny the pig and feed her with the owner. Had an amazingly peaceful night and I was sad to leave. It’s a beautiful slice of tranquility and I will definitely book again There is nothing to dislike about this property it has all that you need and more
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (9/5): Restful place and cute. - Really fun little getaway ! No screens in the windows (for mosquitoes) ?
- Sally (5/5): It was fine really until the kettle handle melted in my hands. -
- Stephen (10/5): Comfort, peace and quiet -
- Jenna (9/5): Superb -
- Vicki (8/5): Cute, but simple if you want something different - Had what I needed for one night away
Very peaceful, was lovely to sit on the porch and watch the horses Bed is tiny, not sure how 2 would fit, it was fine for one night
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Very nice well designed inside
- Raouf (9/5): Superb -
- Carole (9/5): Absolutely lovely and perfect for my needs. - Perfect. Due to torrential rain, had to eat perched on bed. Couldn't find a folding stool to sit on?
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (9/5): We had a fantastic stay and have booked again. - Beautiful quaint shepherds hut in a beautiful location. Hosts are lovely. Facilities were great and bed was extremely comfortable. Whilst it is in a beautiful location you do need a car as there isn’t anything in walking distance.
- Gianluca (10/5): It was perfect! - Such a peaceful and amazing place to stay. Has everything you need for a stay and more, and the place was so clean and cozy. The owners were also amazing, and helpful. Would definitely book again and highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice cozy place to stay
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely setting
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gemma (9/5): stay was realy nice, unfortunately no electric on arrival but came back on shortly and was a lovely stay - bed very comfortable
- Rod (9/5): Quiet & comfortable - Becoming a regular here; very quiet location with friendly horses adjacent. Good bed, cooking and shower facilities. The ability to come and go at whatever time suits is a bonus over traditional b&bs.
- Patricia (8/5): would really recommend to someone a bit younger than us but grateful for being able to stay that weekend. - Availability. Quietness
the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in. It would have been better with more detailed instructions on hob and heating or someone to show us as we never were able to work them
- Rod (10/5): Another enjoyable rural stay - Booked again to enjoy the quiet, rural location with friendly horses in the adjacent field, and the ability to come and go without disturbing others.
It's only a short drive from the South Downs so was easy to return to after an evening walk.
- Nigel (8/5): Welcoming host and worked well for us - Amazed at how such facilities can be squeezed into such an area. The bed required whomever was on the window side to climb over the other occupant. I should have realised this and it is not a complaint but more an observation if someone needs to get up in the night for the facilities.
- Rod (9/5): Peaceful stay in the countryside - Very peaceful stay well away from the road in good accommodation. Very clean, good shower, mini fridge & microwave and comfortable bed. There are a few constraints (length of bed, chemical toilet...) but that's what you expect in a 'property' of this type.
I was staying for work and it made a change not being limited by B&B breakfast times; you can do your own thing here and have an early start if you need it.
Early morning cockerel wasn't much of a bother (it got hoarse after a while) and the horses in the adjacent field were very friendly.
