Guest Reviews
- Marja (10/5): Lovely property, friendly hosts, felt very homely! Would definitely visit again š - Lovely property, clean, spacious and comfortable. Garden was beautiful. Steve and Diana were so friendly, welcoming and helpful.
- Katie (8/5): Perfect. Property finished to high standard. - Location and beautiful surroundings. The view from the window was stunning, like a live picture frame.
- Jennifer (10/5): Had a great time staying at Burnbrae. Lovely, peaceful place to stay, we would very much reccommend. - Very comfortable, lovely warm welcome with everything you need.
- Dawn (10/5): Beautiful and peaceful cottage with excellent hosts. - Beautiful little cottage in very peaceful surroundings. Diana and Steve are excellent hosts, keeping us fully informed about possible road closures due to the moor fire. Steve was waiting to show us the parking space when we arrived and asked if we liked plums. He disappeared and turned up with a bowl of fresh plums picked from the tree.
The bed was exceptionally comfortable and tea and coffee, biscuits etc were waiting for us.
The kitchen was well equipped and there was a plethora of leaflets telling us of local attractions.
We had an excellent nights sleep(a rarity these days unfortunately!).
Thank you to both Steve And Diana, we only wish our stay could have been longer. Everything was lovely.
- steven (10/5): Very nice will come again - Spotless and a quiet location
- Duffy (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Wonderful comfortable staying - In a nice quiet location, not too far from the beach by car and other attractions.
Very cozy inside Nothing
- Jayne (9/5): Great few days, made easy relaxing by wonderful hosts - Lovely location. Bus and train nearby whilst rural schedules, does allow travel without car to main towns nearby. Hosts very friendly and welcoming. Ideal accommodation for a couple. Parking initially a little daunting up a slope, practice gets easier. Some information on how to operate TV and other equipment could be helpful should guests not be familiar, kitchen, shower etc
- Corinna (9/5): - Es war alles wunderbar und Diana und Steve waren sehr nett.
- Richard (10/5): - Lovely location in tranquil lush gardens. Slightly tricky find, but got there.
- David (9/5): Great property with great privacy. - Ideal location for privacy and quiet for our long weekend break.
Good sized TV set at good viewing height, very comfortable bed and sofas. Layout very good. Very clean throughout.
Powerful shower was welcome. Well equipped kitchen with fridge and separate good sized freezer was great.
Own private off-road parking.
Fresh milk in fridge on arrival was nice. Broadband connection tended to fade and disconnect. Did a job but a stronger signal would have been great.
White ceramic cooker hob is quite difficult to keep clean.
- Bowes (1/5): DO NOT STAY HERE!! - Where do I even start? This is easily the worst place Iāve ever booked. Iāll start with the positives (this will be quick): Steve and Diana live in a beautiful home with a small annex attached to their home, and they kindly let an extra guest stay after her accommodation had fallen through on the day. Ā£50 extra was agreed (slightly steep in my opinion as the extra guest was sleeping on the sofa). Now for the seemingly endless list of negatives. When we arrived, Steve was waiting outside to check us in. After showing us to the annex, was very patronising towards us regarding no footwear in the property. The general vibe was that we were a burden for simply staying which didnāt make us feel welcome in the slightest. We were musicians travelling for work, and Steve and Diana happened to be attending the concert we were performing in that night. After having a professional conversation with Steve regarding an extra guest, Diana proceeded to enter the backstage area at the concert, unauthorised, and grilled us on why we needed an extra guest. We calmly explained and thought that would be the end of the awkwardness.
When we got back to the house, Diana begrudgingly set up the second bed (despite the advert claiming to have 2 beds, it wasnāt set up ready for our stay). She told us they donāt usually tell people about it because people ātake the p**sā. She then proceeded to tell us how much she hated our concert, and wouldnāt leave until sheād made that very clear. Diana even stood over one of our instruments worth Ā£40k which just showed she had no respect for our belongings. This would have been around 11pm, and we were very obviously trying to get some sleep. We then received an angry message through booking.com saying weād left the outside light on despite having turned it off 20 minutes prior.
The bedding was old, dirty, and tattered, and the sofa bed dated and unstable. The shower-head was unclean, and had black specks coming out when the water was running. It says toiletries are provided but the only thing provided was hand wash.
Then comes the real kicker. At 10:04am we were packing up when we heard very aggressive banging on our door. When we answered, we were met with Diana saying we should have been out at 10am and that itās unacceptable we havenāt left yet. When I calmly tried to tell her booking.
- David (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage friendly and helpful hosts Nothing really
- Robert (10/5): A lovely property for a weekend away! - The house was very clean and tidy, with lovely touches like fresh flowers and a welcome basket including a variety of teas and coffees and milk in the fridge. The house was very cosy and had everything we needed for a couple of days. The location is easy to get the bus into Whitby from the bottom of the road and a taxi back was easy to book and only £10. The hosts were friendly and very easy to contact beforehand. We had a great time! Nothing at all!
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Stephen was very friendly and helpful.
The cottage was very Cosy.
It had great views.
Excellent facilties.
- Glyn (8/5): Nice stay. Convenient for local attractions and used the local train for Whitby visit, which was fun - Nice quiet location and friendly hosts. No welcome pack. A pint of milk would have been good.
- Inglis (10/5): A home away from home in a lovely quiet location - We enjoyed our stay at Burnbrae and wish we could have stayed longer.
- Sally (6/5): Property is bijou but nicely furnished - Steve the host was very helpful - although property was small it had everything you needed for a short stay The property was listed as wheelchair accessible- it is not. There is a steep driveway and 8 steps into the property
Need new bathroom towels
- Paul (8/5): Good value and perfect for our short stay - Suitable furnished. Nice views from lounge window and in a nice quiet location. Very comfortable bed. A small property with everything close to hand. We were made to feel welcome despite a short stay. Whitby and Yorkshire moors are within a short car drive. Kitchen was basic with basic provisions. For longer stays bring your own tea & coffee. The car parking space may be tricky to negotiate for less able driver to reverse out. Steep incline walk to property door if you had heavy luggage or physical / age challenges. However, the price to stay was good value considering its location.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable clean cottage. Friendly helpful hosts. Great base for discovering the local attractions
- Nigel (9/5): Most relaxing and quiet. - Location good for a walking holiday. Property somewhat difficult to find on first arrival. Try what3words for better results. Also parking involved reversing up a steep drive - a bit tricky at night.
- Metham (9/5): Superb -
- Amanda (10/5): Great hosts with a lovely clean and well laid out property, perfectly located for exploring Ehitby and the surrounding a - The property was very clean and comfortable, well located for travelling around Whitby and surrounding areas.
It is a very tranquil spot and suited us well. The space was great for the two of us.
Steve and Diana were very welcoming and provided plenty of helpful information about things to do and places to visit. Nothing
- Jill (8/5): Very nice cottage, well kept, with helpful, friendly hosts. - N/a
- Diane (10/5): Short weekend break. Tried out the local pubs. We ate at The Bridge Inn at Ruswarp where the food was really great and s - So quiet and private. Nothing not to like.
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice all round the little extra touches went a long way. Thank you
