Guest Reviews
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mikki (10/5): Great 😁 - Was a very authentic stay. Perfect for what we needed, which was to break up the trip home. We loved the homemade chocolate and breakfast and would definitely stay again. If it wasn't for being eager to get home to our own zoo, we would have loved to check out the chocolate barn and surroundings. It was also great to finally sleep in a comfortable bed. Perfect location for traveling Lewis Pass and reasonably priced, definitely surpasses staying at a mundane motel. Thank you! And also much appreciated that you lit the fire for our late arrival! I couldn't find any chalk to write a note back on the cute little easel. I wanted to write "5 ⭐️ 😃"
- Sue (5/5): Loved one nighter place - Boutique self-help accommodation. Small bathroom
Accepting that it was quite a different experience we were bothered by the chilly bin instead of a fridge
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - Very tidy, clean and quite. Breakfast was great and hosts very friendly.
- Raewyn (10/5): Exceptional - Rustic accomodation
Comfortable bed
Nice extras, herbal tea, chocolate, homemade meusli, toast and fresh eggs
- Amanda (9/5): Superb - We loved being out in the countryside with amazing clear skies and starry nights. The little wood fire was incredibly warm and the room was really cosy.
- Jane (10/5): We loved it. A beautiful place with welcoming hosts that really thought of everything. - Breakfast was lovely. The hosts made the honey jam and peanut better and granola. Also they provided us with milk juice eggs and butter and sour dough bread. Nothing it was a beautiful place
- Simon (6/5): Pleasant - Available, good directions. Gas ring & water heating hard to manage. Bit cramped & smokey with wood burner. Photo did not match the actual accommodation..
- Vicki (7/5): A quirky little home stay, great for a one night stay. - The granola and chocolates were yummy, very warm welcome from Ani. No security on the room, and the outside toilet wasn’t great for older folk. 😬
- Clyde (8/5): Very good -
- Nel (8/5): Very good - Beautiful and clean. Had everything needed to have a comfortable stay.
- James (10/5): Warm and welcoming! 100% worth the stay. - Ani was so lovely! The homemade bread and honey was really tasty. Plus the little welcome sign and bite sized chocolates for us both were fantastic. The amenities were great, and I personally loved the little fireplace, it warmed the place up really nicely. Also the window above the foot of the bed was brilliant for watching pīwakawaka and other birds with a morning cup of tea! Our activities were in Hanmer, but this place was worth the extra driving time for sure.
- Jenny (9/5): Wonderful, quiet & peaceful - we are looking forward to coming back again soon!! - We loved the cosy cabin, comfy bed, log burner, well supplied kitchen & breakfast provided. We were lucky with fabulous weather so we could sit out on the deck, relax & enjoy the stay. We didn't realise there wasn't a fridge, but it actually didn't matter as the cool box & ice blocks were fine for a one night stay. The kitchen / cooking area is small but manageable, and no dining table.
- Ritchie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Max (7/5): Good -
- Corne (8/5): Very good - Ani, the kids, and the furry friends were really welcoming and friendly. Peaceful and quiet location. Water pressure was a bit low.
- Beverley (7/5): Good - Bathroom was not private, no blinds. People in the garden below felt exposed.
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ken (8/5): Was convenient location. Loved the look of the gardens etc. - Could have been a bit more generous with the milk for 2 people No curtain on the bathroom window
- Fernanda (3/5): 3-star motel price for 1-star experience. - Unfortunately we didn't like the place. There are no locks on the doors, either in the unit or in the bathroom, which is outside.
For the price we were expecting better cleanliness and more comfort. Both inside and out. The yard was a mess, with a lot of wood cut down and bushes scattered around the place.
The owner is intimidating, and because we complained to booking about the conditions, he confronted us, putting us in a completely uncomfortable position when we tried to leave the place.
We don't recommend this place. The price is the same as a motel and at Arohanui you feel insecure, uncomfortable and intimidated.
- Floris (8/5): Very good - Very friendly hosts, with a nice place to stay. Peaceful and quiet, nice breakfast. The only heating option was a wood fire, which did not seal 100% so some of the smoke was coming into the room.
- Vanessa (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (8/5): Nice people and comfortable accomodation - Lovely setting Nil
- Diana (9/5): Superb - Unique and serene environment, with comfortable accomodation that allows for a private outlook. Leave the curtains open and enjoy the sparkling night sky. I appreciated the thoughtful extras and also the variety of homemade food in the breakfast provided. This is a welcoming family who strike the right balance of interaction and quiet for their guest. A bonus is the couple are both health practitioners, check out their treatments. Recommend if you are looking for more than a bland cookie cutter style stay.
- Gary (10/5): All was good - Everything was good Could use a towel hook in the bathroom.
- Паньженская (10/5): Exceptional - Super cozy house with welcoming hosts. Breakfast was excellent and as addition we have met super friendly furry friends.
- Suzbnz (8/5): Very good - Lovely to meet Ani and Richard. Friendly and accomodating
Great shower pressure.. The stairs for me
- Karen (9/5): Grest 1 night stay to break our journey , loved the warmth and peace of the property , lovely breakfast - Quirky and unique and cosy property , lives the fire and peacefulness Loved it , but would say the deck is very slippery with frost in the morning, would be good to have a anti slip matting across where you have to walk to toilet/ shower
