- Tina (9/5): A beautiful boutique hotel, quirky rooms and perfect location - The hotel was in a lovely part of Birmingham, the car park was locked overnight with key code access. It was a short taxi ride to the main areas in the city (super cheap Uber, less than £7). It was quiet at night (apart from the occupants leaving the room opposite). The rooms were fabulous, The Decor was quirky and individual. It had a lovely little cocktail bar and restaurant at the location with a lovely coffee shop next door. The roll top bath was an added treat along with a shower and separate toilet. So much attention to detail. It isn’t staffed overnight, so if there was a problem, you have to make contact with the night Porter. We had no milk in the room, which meant we couldn’t have tea (wasn’t worth contacting the night Porter for, but frustrating all the same). The TV remote didn’t work, I was unable to adjust the sound, it was far too loud for the time of night. There was no free bottled water in the room, you had to purchase it for £6. It was also quite stuffy without Aircon. That being told these are only minor issues and would absolutely stay at this location again. It would be handy to have more staff as they seem to be run ragged doing lots of different things. the Hotel doesn’t serve breakfast but there is an amazing little café next door that I completely recommend. If you stay in the Marco Polo room and Babylon, they are on the third floor so if you struggle with stairs, it might not be for you.

- Alecia (7/5): Overall we were disappointed which is a shame as it is a beautiful hidden gem. - The property is beautiful and set in a great location. The rooms are exceptional. The bed was amazingly comfortable and the staff went above and beyond with the hospitality from the moment I walked through the front doors. We experienced an issue whilst there which, although could not be rectified, was dealt with promptly and satisfactorily at the time. We were offered a choice of refund or free return stay to make up for it and everything was comped for us while there. I paid for the Alexander room for my partners birthday treat, specifically because it has the steam room. It did not work. I originally asked for a refund when offered a resolution but this proved difficult due to booking through booking.com so we chose to return. However, the steam room still did not work upon our return. We were not informed beforehand, if we had been I would have happily picked a different room. The fridge was also not cold at all which I think they were aware of as there was not even milk in it to make a cup of tea. In addition, it seemed the previous guests crumbs were left in the empty glass stand that should have housed the complimentary biscuits to go with said tea. The shower also would not drain, causing the bathroom to flood so we were relocated the following morning to another room to use the shower. The hospitality the second time round was not bad, but quite different to the first stay. I did get an email after asking for feedback. I replied informing them of all of this and am yet to receive a response.
- DAVID (1/5): Extremely disappointing - Quirky Style won out over substance. Very little practicality. Insufficient seating. Kettle broken and no replacement available. Fridge not working. Room not made up even though we were out all day was told that we hadn’t put a card in the door but nor did we hang a do not disturb sign and they could tell the room was empty when they came to remove the broken kettle. Staff fairly useless. Absolutely no value for money.

Nice tea, biscuits and coffee in room.near to centre Requested late check out which was approved prior to arrival and reminded on check in however housekeeping staff still asked to leave earlier than arranged which was strange maybe they just need better communication with housekeeping staff when late check outs have been requested

- Maxine (4/5): Disappointed that very cold room - The location Very warm in reception and corridors and our room “BABYLON” was cold, the radiator by radiator was only slightly warm. As soon as walked into room the change in temperature was apparent so I went back to reception and the kind lady come upto the room with us and adjusted the radiator setting of which we were told it should get warm in around 15 minutes - it didn’t as didn’t make a difference and we had to leave the shower closet door open to get abit of heating from towel rail which didn’t make a difference. We both had to take a hot bath to warm us up. I appreciate the room is on the top floor however we got more heat from the restaurant we attended elsewhere - I have reported the feedback to reception on checkout, I suggest a couple of heaters are put in that room and I did request a heater when first went to reception - very disappointed with this room as we were expecting that the correct heating temperature should be provided as standard in a luxury setting and I must say now we both have the start of a cold.

The receptionist was lovely, very friendly and helpful. Parking was very easy, in a nice area. Will definitely visit again one day, if prices are right. Thank you

- Liam (2/5): A hotel with 4 star ambitions but 1 star performance & service. - Great location in Edgbaston The bath was dirty (greasy) and we had to wash it first when we used it at night and after desk coverage was closed. Furthermore the PIR lights/fan for both the shower and the toilet are set to too long to switch off, and the shower has an annoying subtle green lighting that remains on and kept we awake for too long, as the glass shower door clearly doesn’t prevent light. A first world problem but annoying. Both the above were reported next day with very little humility or customer focus. And finally paid in full as per Booking.com terms and card given for deposit was in fact deducted again for the full fee and it took my complaint to seek the refund which we did receive.

- Deborah (9/5): Excellent hotel in a quiet location with warm & welcoming staff - The welcome was warm and inviting and the room was gorgeous with a bath right in the bedroom. There are only 6 rooms and were worried that we could hear someone screaming and shouting in another room at around 5pm, but thankfully it was very quiet at night. The walk in shower was great with 2 independant shower heads, one of which was a giant rain shower head. The bed was super comfy with 2 different types of pillows to choose from. For a 2 night stay, the room had everything we needed. We got a taxi from the train station as it was raining heavily. During our stay we caught bus no 23 which stopped around the corner and was very convenient. The hotel fixed the breakfast issue and provided us with a credit of £40 per day to spend at Coffee & Culture next door, we were grateful for this gesture. When we made our booking, it said that breakfast was included. We realised after we'd gone out on Friday evening that there was no mention of breakfast so we messaged the hotel via their app. They confirmed that breakfast wasn't included which was disappointing - see above as the hotel recitified this very quickly. There was a bright green light in the ceiling of our room which was so bright it was like having a light on all night. Also we could not get the TV remote to work, even after we were shown how to use it.

- Buffy (9/5): Mobility issues might hinder your stay in the Babylon Room, but amazing accommodations - The room was styled absolutely amazingly. I would rather stay at a Boutique hotel than a chain because of the charm of boutique hotels. Attention to detail with tea and coffee was lovely. I will continue to praise this hotel, but I do need to put a disclaimer about the stairs when going to the rooms in the loft/attic area. The stairs are narrow and steep. One who has any physical limitations should be aware and advised. Lastly, we had the radiator fully open (5-level), but it wasn't until around 1800 hours that the boiler was turned on and the heat began to warm the room. It was very cold in the room prior to the heat being turned on.

Unfortunately, the steam function wasn’t working properly during our visit. The steam shower also kept switching on automatically for several hours during the night, which disrupted our sleep. Additionally, when we checked out in the morning, there was no one at reception, so we couldn’t raise the matter again before leaving. I emailed the hotel explaining all this and received no reply. Booking.com also contacted the hotel and likewise received no response.
- Sean (10/5): - Best hotel I've stayed in for some time. Parking was easy and safe accessible at the rear of the property through a locked gate. The staff were lovely and friendly on checked. It smelled amazing frombthevfood being cooked in the retaurant which i sadly didn't get chance to try. I stated in the Marco Polo suite which was well priced vs other hotels in Birmingham. The room was elegant with lovely decoration. The bed was comfortable with lovely ammenties with an area to work and a lovely big bath in the room with bath salts provided. Only issue were some of the bulds were not working which the host fixed when i informed them. I would stay here again

We were eating at Simpsons so the location was spot on! There was a generator just below our room which was noisy but this was not on during the night or before we woke up.

The interior is beautifully designed — a perfect mix of elegance and charming eccentricity, with lots of thoughtful details and character throughout. The location is excellent: situated on a quiet street, yet just a short drive from the city centre. It felt peaceful and tucked away, while still being close to everything we needed. A true gem in Birmingham — we’d happily stay again!

Excellent TV service on large screen with Apple TV etc.The secure parking was good and the staff were so helpful and welcoming.I would have liked to try the Indian restaurant another time as would definitely return. Unfortunately it was record temperatures of 33c which without aircon or a fan made it a little too hot in the room but having 2 large opening windows and a very large shower to cool off helped.

It was a large room, with a bath in the bedroom (shower and loo were separate, obviously). We just loved it. Nothing not to like. It’s an old property, which needs to be taken into account. Also there are steep stairs - if you have mobility issues, beware.

The room was very hot and humid. The staff managed to kindly get us a fan but it was only useful if you are sat in front of it. Not useful for sleeping or if there are 2 people in the room.
