Guest Reviews
- Ilona (10/5): - Stunning view and very nice house. Nothing
- Leon (9/5): Beautiful and serene family time in the Witzenberg game reserve. - The property is beautifully situated and an absolute delight for kids with the zebras and springbok roaming around. The house itself is ideal for family spending time together. The home itself is beautiful and well stocked. The flies were an issue - but the host provided doom spray, which we routinely sprayed around to keep them away. It would be helpful if there were more fly-fighting mechanisms!
- Laura (9/5): Lovely rural stay with lots of animals. - The best thing was the zebras and antelopes that arrived in the mornings to graze in front of the house. The children were really thrilled by these. There had been a bush fire recently and some of the vegetation round the house was quite charred but it didn't affect the enjoyment of our stay -or the grazing of the animals. There is a lovely communal swimming pool not far from the house. The house is comfortable with everything you could want.
- Phillip (10/5): Peace and quiet - Peaceful and quiet, lots of room, well equipped, great with lots of outdoor rosming fir thr kids Just a cautionary note: last stretch should be driven very slowly, especially the brick road, take this into consideration when planning your timelines, you won’t regret it though, well worth the slow-go.
- Nicolaas (10/5): Gem of a find for wheelchair users. - Spacious and well designed house in a tranquil nature reserve. Well equipped for long term stays. Major bonus points for wheelchair users which is a rarity in SA. Nothing
- Hannah (10/5): A beautiful home away from home! -
- Andries (9/5): -
- mhlakaza (10/5): - Spacious, spirit of ubuntu from mr Jeremy. Wow what a welcoming soul. Nothing to complain about
- Deon (9/5): A wonderful breakaway spot - A wonderful breakaway spot, not too far from several larger towns. The setting is beautiful and tranquil — we absolutely loved watching the zebras grazing on the lawn right in front of us! The rooms are comfortable and spotless, with huge showers, and the kitchen is well-equipped with everything you might need.
I accidentally left something behind, and the host was so kind and helpful in making sure I got it back — much appreciated! The patio is a lovely place to sit and relax, enjoy a meal, or unwind with a glass of wine. We were lucky to have great weather, but I’m sure it would be just as cosy and enjoyable indoors too. The road to the house is a bit bumpy but not to hard to get over that.

Especially the wonderful view! Everything was perfect! Beautiful house , beautiful mountains there was more than expected in the house as we packed everything like coffee salt and pepper etc and they had it all there.. Hosts were so helpful and friendly. Animals roaming around .. we will definitely be back for future holidays! Absolutely nothing to complain about..so book book book!
- Quintin (10/5): - The design is amazing. Bedrooms top and bottom and very open. Perfect for friends and family. Views are incredible and host were wonderful.
- Len (10/5): Lovely on the banks - Love this house so much! Nothing to not like! It is amazing
- Rialette (9/5): Superb -
- Catherine (10/5): A fantastic, large house with the most perfect veranda, with amazing views, sunsets and zebras. - We had an amazing time at Riverbank. The house was perfect for a large family get-together and was very well equipped.
We spent hours on the spacious stoep braaing and watching springboks, but our highlight was the zebras mowing the lawn. We loved everything.
- Gloudina (10/5): Well equipped, comfortable, elegant stay in a peaceful paradise - The property is well equipped, well kept with all you need for a short stay. The environment is beautiful even though we were only able to see the mountain once due to the weather. The Zebra & Springbok grazing on the front lawn was super special N/A
- Potgieter (8/5): Recommendable to any person in a wheelchair, for a very relaxing time and very friendly owners. - The wheelchair accessibility of the house is above normal especially the shower. A better understanding on the vicinity of the pool as it is not near the house
- Roxanne (9/5): It was a lovely stay, we really enjoyed it, we felt at home, this is a place that you can enjoy your entire stay at just - The property was lovely, spacious, the surroundings and views were beautiful. Great for taking in nature, and accommodating people. Decor was lovely, there was more than enough crockery and cutlery, we were happy with the complimentary wood. Everything was neat and tidy, the view of the mountain from all rooms were lovely and when sitting on the patio whether while braaing or just relaxing.. few times had the Zebras and bokkies grazing on the property or very close by that made it a beautiful experience. Beds were comfortable and all showers worked and had decent temp water and pressure. Was a happy surprise seeing the games that we could make use of. Really a stunning place would recommend to anyone and everyone. We also felt it very comforting how responsive the host was and friendly when we got lost getting to the accommodation , and the welcome pack was so helpful. Unfortunately Tulbagh can get very hot in summer time, and can hit high humidity and the location of the property it can make it worse. Our fear of snakes was heightened after reading how frequent it can be to see them so we only opened bathroom windows for very short periods. The house itself was hot, would suggest adding air conditioners in each room, the fan helped a little bit . We also thought extraction fans in the bathrooms to help with the humidity after showering and drying the air a bit. Lastly the pool was noted as private, when it’s actually a communal pool to the reserve, because the road was noted the best to walk would have been mission in the heat that the area experienced during our stay wasn’t ideal. We would suggest rewording as Communal rather than private maybe in the future if the hosts are able to perhaps add a hot tub or similar on the property would be an amazing bonus experience.
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional - We had an absolutely amazing stay at this beautiful property! The location is simply breathtaking, with stunning views and the added bonus of zebras and springboks roaming freely close to the house. It really made the experience feel special and unique. The house itself was perfect, offering everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. The pool, just a short walk away, was a fantastic bonus for the kids. Communication with the host was smooth and efficient, with quick responses and an easy self check-in and check-out process. Overall, it was a truly peaceful and enjoyable getaway.
- Chantal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Frances (10/5): Fabulous! - Riverbank is one of those places that will leave a mark on you, and you'll always want to go back! Everything was top-notch! Clean, comfortable, spacious, fireplace inside. Lovely stoep and outside braai area. We loved watching the zebras on the lawn! Lots of springbok passing by in the morning! We only stayed for one night, but this was way too short! Will be back for more!
- Stella (8/5): A peaceful nature reserve with roaming zebras and springboks. - The zebras and springboks roaming the reserve made it a memorable experience. It’s a quiet and peaceful place, perfect for unwinding. The house was very clean and well-kept.
The nights were a real highlight, with all the stars and spotted a white owl —something you don’t see every day. Just a note: the roads aren’t very suitable for a sedan, so a vehicle with higher clearance is recommended.
