- Julien Lau (10/5): - Exceptional service from the staff. Food was amazing, curated to bring out the best from the ingredients. The onsen experience is good as well, and for beginners that are afraid to share the bath with others, this is a really good place as you are able to reserve individual onsen rooms for yourself. Overall very satisfied. Access may be difficult for those without a car, but can check whether the hotel provides shuttle service from the nearest station.

- John (10/5): We hoped for a quiet, traditional Izu ryokan/onsen and Hiina was perfect. - Everything and everyone. Hiina was so welcoming. From picking us up at the station to taking us back when we had to leave. Greeting us. Putting a bandaid on my leg. Holding umbrellas over our heads as we came and went. Fresh ukatas every day. Wonderful choice of outdoor onsen overlooking the sea. Exquisite local food. Everyone who worked there took time to greet us and make sure we were comfortable. Hiina is also a short walk or hotel shuttle ride to the Izu Atagawa station where you can take short train day trips on the eastern shore of the Izu Penninsula. The food was too good. We felt bad not being able to finish all the exquisite foods they served us each morning and evening.

- HSUAN CHEN (1/5):

- Suzanne (10/5): We loved our stay and would highly recommend this place. - I loved the beautiful hot spring baths and lovely big room with sea views. Everything was impeccably clean, comfortable and service was fantastic. We found this place very relaxing. The meals were delicious and we looked forward to the wonderful menu each morning and night. The seafood was a highlight. The staff were very long, helpful and accomodating of our limited Japanese. The shuttle service was very helpful also to the train station from which you can travel to other towns along the peninsular. Thankyou for a wonderful stay. We appreciate all the care and attention during our stay. Nothing - everything was fantastic

- Zexi (9/5): Great experience! - The food was amazing!! And the service we received from the staff was excellent! Not so much didn’t like - we had the room with own bathtub, but in hindsight probably dont really need it? We enjoyed the private bath (6 available) thats available and the scenery was much better than our own on the balcony
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juewen (8/5): Very good - Food is good, and the private hot springs are wonderful.
- Varja (8/5): Lovely stay and nice baths. - Loved everything about our stay in a room with open air bath. We stayed for two says and it was large enough to fit me and my partner. We loved listening to the ocean while bathing at night. The open air baths are nice as well and there’s variety and we never waited for one.
Would have appreciated a double futon, since it was a bit hard and it is what we were used to from other places, but we slept well.
Definitely too much food for us but it is to be expected and we loved all of it, maybe 1 or 2 dishes were not really to our taste but ate all of it. Couldn’t finish breakfast on day 2 but everything was delicious.
The staff is really lovely and accommodating. They also provided shuttle to and from the train station. A bit run down but lovely nonetheless.
- Kashann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goeran (10/5): We felt very good throughout the stay! - The private rotenburos, private room for dining, outstanding quality of food and presentation, the young and enthusiastic staff. Bedside lamps for reading and maybe somewhat thicker futons.
- Wandy (8/5): Staffs were friendly, dinner was very good. But a bit overpriced. - Dinner price.
- Ming (10/5): Very nice and neat hotel, great staff, great onsen, great sea view, great meals - The staff are nice and friendly and helpful. The hotel is well managed and facilities feels new and clean. There are 7 free out-door private onsens available, which are very nice and easy to use and were never full during our stay. The sea view in the room is great especially for watching sun-rise. Half-board meals provided were great with numerous seafood dishes including lobster and abalone etc which are over our expectation. We could park our car right in front of the hotel which was very convenient. We had a very nice experience staying here for 2 nights. The neighborhood is quiet and feels very local. Besides the great sea view there are not much around. Our room is on 2nd floor which was pretty close to the street and there were some noises from cars but luckily it was not a busy street anyway.
- Man (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carmen (10/5): a wonderful establishment worth revisiting - Service was great, location was breath-taking being next to the ocean. The room size was decent and the private bath inside our room had a wonderful view. Also enjoyed the private dining room for both breakfast and dinner.
The public bath (with private bath options) were all very peaceful and decent. nothing
- Xi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (8/5): Good view of sunrise - Location is next to the sea with good view of sunrise. Also, the hotel is good for visit to Jogasski coast and Kawasu 7 waterfalls are within 30 mins drive. Excellent private onsens for use. Kaiseki food quality could be better especially the breakfast. Lower level rooms have power lines blocking sunrise view. Also, the hotel is directly in front of a street with some traffic noise.
- Londoner (9/5): Perfect break for 2 days - It was clean and spacious. Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Food was very good, interesting and tasty., Nothing
- Aritra (10/5): Lovely stay in a beautiful seaside onsen town - The hospitality was so good. They treated us like their own. The room was large and very clean as expected.
The private and public onsens were so relaxing and beautiful.
The breakfast and dinner were probably the 2 best meals we had in our lives.
Would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone!
- Tom (10/5): Better than expected - Room has wonderful view Train station location
- Peter (9/5): Lovely old inn on the coast - This is a really difficult review because this place is a little unusual.
It's a very old fashioned inn with excellent service and outstanding food. The onsen baths are all beautiful and very relaxing. View is quite lovely.
However the inn itself is quite tired and in need of updating. For this reason alone I find the price a bit steep and so I have scored it lower. Tattiness of the rooms, power lines in front of the inn.
- Mcvicente (9/5): Lovely and relaxing stay to end a fantastic two weeks trip around Japan - The staff at Hiina goes above and beyond, even according to the already very high Japanese standards. Even though we only came across one staff member that spoke fluent English, all the staff was incredibly polite, helpful, and sweet. We felt like royalty. They picked us up at Izu-Atagawa station and dropped us back after we checked-out.
Our room, despite dated and needing some renovations, was lovely. We had a wonderful sea view, a spacious balcony with our own small onsen and an outdoor shower area, a spacious tatami style living room as well as an entrance that had two sinks and the toilet in a separate small room.
Despite having our own onsen, we ventured to the ones spread throughout the property and loved them. The view of every single one is beautiful as they all face the sea, they're all extremely private and with spacious private shower facilities.
Lastly, the meals. I would start by saying that even for adventurous food eaters like us, some things were a bit intimidating, and since the lovely lady serving our meals didn't speak a word of English, most of the time we had no idea what we were eating. Nevertheless, they accommodated us since we don't eat meat. Our second dinner and second breakfast were divine, especially the dinner, because the staff adjusted our meals based on what we ate and didn't eat from our first meals, which shows a great level of care and attention to detail. For this reason, our first meals were good but not as fantastic as the second ones. No USB outlets to charge our phones. We felt that the onsens water was a bit too warm for us as we couldn't stay fully submersed for more than a couple of minutes at a time, but maybe that's just normal Japanese onsen temperatures. The room clearly needs an update but the common areas are in a perfect state.
- Yiming (10/5): Exceptional -
- Weiyi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kamil (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful ryokan with private onsen and delicious kaiseki dinner. Staff was very friendly. Pickup from train station and drop off at the same station was very convenient. Highly recommend. I would stay longer if I could.
- Hillary (10/5): A relaxing time with incredible - The staff at Hiina was extremely kind and considerate. They went above and beyond. The onsens were lovely and relaxing. The stay was very clean and they had many thoughtful touches. I would stay here again! Nothing
- Liu (10/5): good -
- Dr-chris (8/5): Very good -
- Mark_ph (9/5): Worth the price, great quiet location - Very nice private hot spring baths outside the main building. Lovely small garden. Spacious rooms.
- Sun (10/5): Extremely cozy, kind staff, Value for money - The staff is very friendly and thoughtful, help pick us up from station, it’s very convenient!
The food is fabulous, best dinner and breakfast ever, many different types of food, and chief modify the food and also cooking way for two stay.
The onsen is very nice, they have different onset to select, very comfortable. Nothing
- Takuji (9/5): Superb - Location was wonderful, great private onsen you can choose, great food! No thing really
- Emily (8/5): Very good -
- Minori (10/5): Exceptional - Our stay in this hotel was amazing! The staff was extraordinary, the food was brilliant and the room was extremely beautiful with a fantastic view of the ocean. We almost felt like royalty and I would recommend it to everyone! All in all a perfect experience, 10/10!
- Wei (10/5): Fantastic! - This resort has really nice service, everyone is so sweet and helpful. Dinner and Breakfast are amazing, everyday menu are different. Love their 金目鯛! The ocean-view outdoor bath is amazing, you also got private bath there ( a great time with Family). In our Checking out morning, the rain was pouring that the train from Izu-Atagawa is stopped. They were helping out to find other way to reach Tokyo and send us to further station from Atagawa helping us travel. Have to say a big big thank you to Hiina! Would love to visit again and highly recommend to ppl whoever wanna visit Izu in the future!
- Dean (10/5): A lovely refresh during our Japan travels - We enjoyed the view of the sea from our balcony and the use of the private onsens they provide Yukatas on arrival and also provide room service during dinner to swap room into sleeping. We booked half board so we got breakfast and dinner. There is 5/6 private onsens available 14:30-midnight, upgrades to having an onsen on balcony which is available 24hr and a male and female public onsen. The private onsens were useful for us because of my tattoos. Shampoo and soap provided, towels provided. Very traditional Japanese style, nothing to complain about just be aware that the food served is culturally appropriate for the tradition of the onsen.
- Lianda (9/5): Superb - Excellent private onsen! Fantastic food! Lack of indoor bath/shower. When it’s raining or cold outside, it’s better to have indoor shower
- 191919 (9/5): Amazing stay - Amazing service and friendly staff. Super considerate facilities and beautiful decorations but simple and neat. Food was also well prepared. The dinner wasn't the best quality that I thought they can probably be. But I am ok with it as all other great things compliment to the dinner
- Thibaut (9/5): Superb -
- Paula (10/5): Most amazing time, 100% recommend! - Absolutely everything!
Staff was amazing and attentive, always going the extra mile to make us feel comfortable and happy.
They picked us up from the train station and welcomed us with drinks!
Room was spacious, super clean and had amazing views.
We booked dinner and breakfast at the property and we had a wonderful time.
Recommend for anyone looking for relaxation. We’ll absolutely come back there when we’re back in Japan. Or even take a trip only to go there because it was wonderful.
- Emily (10/5): Extraordinary. - It's authenticity, true comfort, the private onsen on, and crashing sea below, my terrace and the delicious food were remarkable.... This is magic if you're seeking extraordinary Japanese kaiseki combined with a genuine, absolutely comfortable, beautifully clean, welcoming experience of rural Japan by the sea. (Make sure to confirm you have a private toilet, if you want one....) I loved everything....
- Jaae (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dr-chris (9/5): Magnificant place! - The food was awesome, and extremely high quality. The room was great, with a ceramic tub on the terras. The water was high in salt and magnesium, and it left my skin feeling soft and health. Will go there again.
- Delphine (10/5): Unforgettable! - We loved everything!
We had a room with a bath on the balcony overlooking the sea. It was fabulous. We thought we'd love the end of the day bath best but it was the morning bath with the sun rising and everything quiet except for the ocean waves that I found absolutely amazing.
The staff was fantastic and the dinner and breakfast absolutely delicious.
And it is located in such a quiet town, we loved that too.
We will never forget Hiina!
