• Smasher13 (10/5): - The whole property was exceptionally well presented, spacious and quality. The breakfast selection was extensive and the fresh berries, juices and yoghurt a delight. The views from the property are fabulous. We drove to the Glenkiln reservoir and had a short cycle around the area. ( We took our own bikes) It was lovely and peaceful. Perfect stop for our onward journey to Scotland!
• Marian (10/5): It was a five star, relaxing visit in a wonderful setting with amazing accommodation. - Everything about the property was amazing, Jan has thought of everything that you could possibly need and then added things you hadn’t even thought of. The beds, furniture everything is top quality and spotlessly clean. The continental breakfast was superb, great selection of meats, fruit, bread not to mention every kind of tea and coffee. We loved sitting in the lounge watching the sheep and chickens, so quiet and peaceful. Jan was the perfect hostess, great communication and very friendly. We would highly recommend and hope to come back soon. Nothing.

I can't speak highly enough of it. Fabulous views all around. Every comfort provided for entertainment. Generous and healthy food supplies for breakfast and snacks. Outdoor facilities also excel if the weather had allowed! Even the garden was pristine. Private parking right next to accommodation. Warm welcome from host.

Attention to detail, beautiful furnishings, so spacious. I have never stayed anywhere with such a high standard of cleanliness. The bedding is luxurious. It's so peaceful in its location, you will be instantly relaxed. The surrounding fields of cows, chickens, sheep, hares are wonderful to enjoy. The hosts are delightful and unobtrusive, allowing you to bask in their beautiful location. You have a small fridge of breakfast items, so you can snack and have breakfast at your leisure. Dumfries is only a short drive away. Nothing.

• Globejo (10/5): Simply the Best! - Gorgeous modern guest-annexe attached to the family home (working farm): consiting of a generously sized, light and airy sitting room, a spacious bedroom and a separate bathroom. All immaculately clean and tasteful modern stylish decor. Compact "Kitchenette" facilities = fridge, sink, kettle and microwave. The fridge was filled with the breakfast items our Host had enquired about & we were more than happy with the dinner arrangements: bring a snack or something to microwave. The accomodation is surrounded by a lovingly tended, colourful garden with fabulous expansive views over the distant hills, fields, countryside. Outdoor garden seating is available . . . though it was a tad windy during our stay. Once we'd settled in as per arrival instructions we were warmly greeted by our charming and cheerful hostess. Excellent communications throughout. Jan provided clear instructions on How-To-Find the property (to avoid having to negotiate narrow country lanes. (Trust Jan! Don't trust Google / your SatNav! ; - ) ALL JUST PERFECT! On a return visit we'll definitely stay longer.

• Sue (10/5): A place you wish you could come back to - Highmains is an exceptional place to stay. After existing in small rooms with nowhere to sit except the bed, you walk into a 3 room flat. Very comfortable, lovely friendly hosts. You do need a car to get there. Couldn’t connect to the internet

Great breakfast - Jan goes out her way to check beforehand what your preferences are and there are lots of tasty extras for you to enjoy. Bed very comfortable and loads of space to park. We were here for just one night as we were breaking our journey from Ullapool. Nothing - it was faultless and we hope to stay again a bit longer this time and explore the area

Felt like I was in HEAVEN Very very Clean. Peaceful Lounge big. Bed so comfortable. Jan the host even got Soya milk in and snacks for my breakfast and sandwiches for my day at the cycle race Gralloch. I slept so well left feeling wonderfully recharged. Thank you Jan

There was nothing that I felt could be improved on . Just be prepared to take food/snacks/drinks with you as it a few miles out of town. Also only a microwave for cooking but that didn't bother me.

A huge variety or tea, breakfast and other food! Plenty of drinks for us! The owners were fantastic, showed us how to light and use the log fire and kept us very updated on any power issues in the area from the recent storm. Massively recommend this place the standard of service was lovely! Great to see the sheep and farm animals come right up to the fence in the garden and unbelievable views from the windows! N/a

• Lynn (10/5): Home from home - The accommodation is actually a large annexe to the main house, with its own private entrance into the sitting/dining area, with fabulous views out over the Scottish landscape, with sheep and cows grazing. Very quiet and peaceful and an ideal spot for a decent night’s sleep. The bedroom was huge and one of the comfiest beds ever! Everything was perfect, a home from home with everything you could possible need. Continental breakfast was provided with so much choice and was ready waiting for us when we checked in. We were en route to take the ferry from Cairnryan back to Ireland and it was around an hour and a half’s drive from the port, yet only a few minutes from the main A75. We were able to sit out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine when we arrived which was a bonus. We will definitely stay here again. Nothing

• Chantal (10/5): A gorgeous property in idyllic surroundings . What more could I ask for…? - The property is set in beautiful countryside. Prior to arrival the owner, Jan, emailed me with details of the code to locate the key to get in. What a little gem of a property! My immediate thought on entering was “wow”! This is not your average B&B. Tastefully decorated throughout. Off the hallway/middle room, there is a small kitchen area with a sink. Utensils/crockery etc is found in a dresser where you can also find a kettle & microwave. The bathroom has a lovely walk in shower. Lastly the bedroom contains a double and single bed with plenty of room. My description has not done this property justice. You will not regret it if you book to stay here. Nothing

The location is rural but not far from places of interest. Jan had thought of everything from flowers to Lindt chocolates! It's a beautiful place to stay.
