Guest Reviews
- Paula (7/5): Lovely apartment - Ideal location near the Harbour Parking could be tricky but we found a spot near to. We struggled with the heating, the 2nd night we were boiling and couldn't work out how to cool it down
- Henriette (9/5): -
- Anthony (10/5): -
- Samantha (8/5): - The location of the property is perfect for exploring Whitby
- Samantha (8/5): - Good location
- Charlotte (10/5): -
- Byrne (6/5): Inconvenient - Location The central heating wasnt working on arrival on a cold December afternoon. And heating didn't work for duration of stay. Host had to get cleaner to provide a oil radiator for bedroom.Didn't use lounge or shower room as was to cold. Hot water was working.
- Lyndsay (10/5): - The walk to the apartment is up a steep hill
- John (10/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Fabulous weekend away with great accommodation!! - Great location with everything we needed for a weekend stay. Fabulous comfortable bed, divine power shower and cosy lounge. Could not control the under floor heating so at times it was cool in apartment although there was an electric fan heater!!!
- Amanda (10/5): - Location. Lovely apartment
- Zoe (10/5): Couldn't fault it - would definitely stay again! - No breakfast as not a hotel Nothing!
- Joanne (7/5): Ventilation needs improvement. - The location was perfect for us as we had come to take part in the fringe folk festival activities. We needed somewhere close to the town centre that was quiet. Although there are some problems (mainly ventilation)it wasn't so bad as to put us off renting the property again during the busy summer season next year. No shower gel , biscuits, coffee, or milk/creamer had been provided.(There were a few random bits bits and bobs left scattered in a cupboard probably left by previous guests)The Co-op is very close so we could get these things there. These things are usually provided as standard but perhaps not at this property.
The bedroom has an unpleasant smell but appeared to be clean. There was no adequate ventilation in this room. The very small and inaccessible high window could not be opened.
Two small openable windows in the lounge didn't look very robust so we decided not to use them much. The lounge window frame sealant had black mould marks.

- Geoffrey (9/5): Lov
ely apartment close to town centre. - Lovely modern apartment. Only disappointment was lack of hand-wash and shower gel in bathroom.
Also some milk and tea/ coffee would have been nice.
That apart the apartment is lovely, would definitely recommend if you are visiting whitby.would definitely return.
- John (9/5): -
- david (8/5): - Location, lovely apartment. Excellent communication
- Caroline (10/5): Very nice, clean comfortable good location - Everything Nothing
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Alfred (8/5): Great location, stay, accommodation and facilities - Location good Everything excellent
- Hazel (9/5): Just what I wanted - Due to other reviews about locating the property I checked Google maps/ earth so I knew what I was looking for and had no problems finding the place. On street parking is a bit of luck but it may just mean walking up an extra hill.
The location was perfect, a short walk away from everything there is to do and see in Whitby. The apartment was well equipped, lovely, clean and quiet.
The shower was amazingly powerful if a little fiesty and strong but I’m putting that down to user error!
The host sent through the arrival instructions, all very clear and super smooth. Would recommend!
- Shelley (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptional value for money with no expense spared on fixtures and fittings including free WiFi and Netflix for cozy nights in. Really is a home from home. We booked this as a last minute break on a Thurs eve to arrive on Fri morn- Michelle was amazing in contacting us with directions and was on hand for any other questions. The apartment was spotless with everything you would need for a short or long stay break, the location is literally a 5 minute walk from the harbour. We will definitely return !! My only niggle (which is tiny) is the apartment is named "pebbles" on booking.com however there is no signage on the property of this name. It is signed on the property as 7 The County which would enable people to much easily find the apartment.
- Lucy (8/5): Very enjoyable. Lovely place to visit. - Fab location Nothing really. Maybe it would have been extra nice to have a couple of basics in. Eg milk, bread, or flowers on display pack of nice biscuits/chocolate or wine.
- Eileen (9/5): Superb -
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (9/5): Enjoyable - Comfortable Up a hill , front door steps we are elderly to be fair and walking around hilly Whitby is getting a task
- Tony (10/5): Exceptional - Great little apartment, ideally placed. Personal preference, but the mattress was too hard for us.
- Den (7/5): Lovely clean apartment - Very clean and comfortable apartment. 10 min walk into Whitby town. Lock box is very low and I found it tricky to open. Also to help guests find it I would put a sign outside with " Pebbles" on it
Was unable to find channels on TV
- Phil (8/5): Cosy basement flat - The property had everything you could want. It was clean and tidy, and spacious and warm, and just down a few steps, also pretty bright for a basement flat. The position is great if you're ok with walking, uphill from town, but handy on-street parking, and a quiet area. The only thing we noticed with the property was the smell of damp when you walk in, but there were air fresheners around the flat attempting to get rid of the problem. We didn't notice any damp though, so it could be an old problem.
- Mahomed (9/5): Excellent apartment clean, very spacious and great location. - Location was great walking distance to the all the facilities The post code on the email was for North street. It would have been better if it was for Grey street (YO21 1EP) as the entrance to the apartment is on Grey Street. There was a TV in the bedroom which did not pick up any channels? We had difficulty in finding the apartment especially as it was dark and if it was not for friendly local resident who knew where the place was located it would have taken even longer to find the place.
On the website guests need to be made aware that it is a residential area and parking although free, you may find it difficult to find a parking space near the apartment. The key box needs changing had great problem opening it?
- Collette (4/5): The apartment is lovely pity about the smell and cobwebs! - The location is good. The apartment as everything you need. The toilet smelt like cat wee!The apartment smelt very foisty!! All the air fresheners had run out!! Quiet afew cobwebs!!!
- Jill (10/5): Lovely relaxing break ,perfect location , lovely flat, with short walk to centre of Whitby - Clear instructions and messages from host. easy acess to keys and no problems getting Into the apartment
fish n chips were spot on from Railway Chippy just around corner
- Rachel (8/5): excellent apartment for a short stay. - Good location, short walk down to the harbour area. Well equipped, comfortable and roomy apartment, had everything we needed.
Had a shower and a bath in a modern and spacious bathroom windows at street level so needed to keep blinds closed.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Anne (7/5): Good -
- Wendy (6/5): Pleasant - Brilliant location. Free on street parking. Bathroom, kitchen come living/dining room was excellent. Bed mattress was to hard and watch out for the window blinds as very dodgy when opening windows.
- Ruth (10/5): Short break to Whitby - Facilities and location
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- L9 (9/5): Very comfy - It was a lovely apartment and equipped with everything needed. Was very clean and only 5 mins away from the harbour There was nothing we didn't like
- Sally (9/5): Superb - It was close enough to town to walk in & it was a comfortable place to which to return.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious, great kitchen facilities. Comfortable sofa and bed. Good proximity to town centre.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Great little appartment, good location only a short walk in to Whitby. - Lovely little apartment had every thing we needed for our stay, would definitely book again 🙂
- Letishakelly13 (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely apartment, very accommodating, clean and tidy.
- Kelly (10/5): Excellent -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - I thoroughly enjoyed the comfort of staying in a flat that felt like a home away from home! Pebbles was very clean, cosy and was pretty quiet. I will book this location again should I visit Whitby in the future! Nothing worth mentioning at this time.
- Mike (10/5): Excellent, close to the town centre and all the fish and chip shops! - Very clean, well laid out, all the facilities you need for you stay Nothing all good
- Elizabeth (9/5): Good location. I was able to park close to the property. It was comfortable and quiet - NA NA
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kendall (10/5): Brilliantly comfortable convenient self-catering accommodation in Whitby. - Excellently equipped and comfortable accommodation - kitchen, living area and bedroom.
Good location. Very little - front door a little stiff to close - that's the only thing I can think of.
- White (7/5): Good -
- Rj (9/5): Excellent - Very good size Amazing location walking distance to railway harbour site seeing and restaurants
Very clean
Owner could not do enough for us Short instructions on how to work tv washing machine
- Julie (8/5): Made our visit very easy having a home away from home in a close location - Having own self contained space and in an ideal location close to the centre
Parking nearby. Modern finishes Parking can be difficult to find
Tricky monitoring shower speed
- Lisa (10/5): Whitby is a lovely town with something for everybody. Even the Dark Lord ( Dracular) 😊 - The flat had everything you vmcould want. Fully loaded kitchen. Breakfast table nicely situated by a bay window. Very close to town. Host was very communicative and stayed in touch to make sure everything was spot on. Lovely flat. Lovely location.
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (9/5): Lovely apartment . Central , comfy would use again . - The location was good for us once we found it .
Very comfortable apartment . There was a sewerage smell not sure if from the area as we saw a water van working .
Also the shower is like wrestling with a snake when used the water goes all over !
We wouldn’t recommend the apartment for someone with walking issues as it’s on a hill .
- Jacqueline (7/5): Good location - Location was good for our needs. Bed comfortable, apartment well equipped. We managed to park nearby, it was quiet. The sensor bathroom lights, I was plunged into darkness ( no window) 3 times mid (short) shower despite waving arms around frantically. The shower pressure is set really high, difficult to control.
Key code and instructions are not given until the day the booking starts.
- 100%northumbrian (7/5): Lovely but needs a few tweaks - This property was modern, nice decor and all mod cons. Exeptionaly clean, comfortable bed and lovely bedding and pillows.whole appartmment on one floor loads of space with kitchen, living room , bedroom and bathroom. Handy location and when I messaged the owner to ask if I could leave my bags early she said I could go along and leave them when the cleaner got there in the morning which was really convenient for me as I wasn't travelling by car. Number to put in to open key box, easy to do. Really lovely appartment! When I opened the verticle blinds on the side window they fell off and I couldn't put them back up.
The TV in the front room wasn't tuned in and some kind of alarm kept goin off on 1 of the gadgets around the TV I didn't know what it was so had to unplug everything to stop it going off.
The TV in the bedroom was unwatchable due to the picture keep pixilating and flashing on and off.
The bottle opener in the drawer had the top snapped off so I couldn't open my bottle. It was my birthday when I was there and my daughter sent my card to Pebbles. It didn't arrive which couldn't be helped but I asked if the owner would kindly forward it to me but disappointingly this didn't happen. I paid around £100 for 1 night and at this price they could well afford to put a stamp on a special card for me. Maybe a good idea to put the name on the property as well as,I wasn't at all sure that this was the house I was looking for as the address is confusing.
A few tweaks needed here for the price you pay.
- Johnson (9/5): Superb - Great accommodation...Good location
Comfortable bed ...very clean No complaints as fab ..one suggestion could provide a hand soap for bathroom
- Adrian (10/5): Great little apartment and great location - Everything Nothing
- Lisa (10/5): Great stay - Central location.
Roomy for 2 people
Great to have kitchen facilities
Host was very attentive, messaging to make sure everything was ok.
- Mike (1/5): Miserable - Nothing We explained in advance we were walking the Cleveland way and would arrive at approximately 17.00. Despite several attempts we couldn’t get a response from the owner (email, text, phone and WhatsApp) I got through on FaceTime when we were immediately told the property hadn’t been cleaned. Dirty bed, towels, bathroom etc.
We declined to stay ( owner did offer to try to get a cleaner but without any idea how long that might take)
Fortunately we found alternative accommodation.
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - We felt cosy and at home. The apartment had all facilities we required,it was private. The town was very close by.
- Kenneth (8/5): quite relaxing plenty to see fish and chips at papas was excellent - self catering property
- Keith (4/5): Disappointing - The apartment was clean and nicely furnished No Internet would not work . The television would not work and also no hot water until I re pressurised the boiler myself.
- Philip (6/5): Host was lovely. Could see ourselves coming back - Location was perfect.
The apartment was nice and clean The bedding and towels smelled like they hadn’t dried properly.
- Christine (10/5): Great location, great host and a great stay. We would highly recommend. - We loved everything about Pebbles. It was well set up with everything you could want for a short, or a longer stay. The bed and couches and the decor were all very comfortable. I had the best shower I have had in the UK at Pebbles. That we didn't find it sooner and that we were only able to stay one night.
- Mark (10/5): great break away , fabulous apartment just love Whitby - great location as it was literally 5 minutes into the town nothing at all , fabulous and wish we’d stayed longer
- Rachael (10/5): Wish we could’ve stayed longer! - Book with confidence. Excellent all round. Including location (A short walk to the harbour). The host has made the accommodation a home from home, it is very well equipped, clean and cosy.
Excellent communication from the host relating to local parking and facilities of the accommodation.
- Mark (9/5): Clean and tidy, plenty of space for two, great location for main centre of Whitby, would definitely stay again. - Clean and tidy, good location, host really helpful, would stay again.
