- Matt (10/5): Will definitely stay again. Perfect location and value for money. Excellent hosts. - Location was excellent, the owners were lovely and really helpful. Nothing really.
- Keeley (10/5): Ideal location , close enough to get to see the sights - Liked the location There wasn’t anything I didn’t like
- Sue (10/5): -
- Kanabar (10/5): It was fabulous would return again - The property was clean, comfy, cosy and a great getaway for a couple looking for a nice weekend away.
- Gabriella (10/5): Amazing location, cosy stay. - Amazing location, free parking, very attentive owner. Tea, coffee available, there was even 2 bottles of water in the fridge and a small bottle of wine by the bedside. As well as extra toilet roll and I was touched by the fact that they thought of everything, even had emergency supply of feminine care products. Excellent location to town centre and just a short stroll to the Abbey. Will definitely stay there again. That the holiday ended...
- Will (10/5): Short 1 day stay in Whitby - Great location. Quiet. Good for sightseeing. Comfortable and warm. Nothing, it was good for the asking price.
- Lynsey (10/5): - We loved our stay here. The location is brilliant for Whitby Abbey and saved us going up & down the 199 steps in the dark and in the rain. Lovely room with excellent amenities. Would love to stay again. Nothing! Everything was great.
- Katie (8/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Excellent value for money, a really nice stay - Location was perfect and within walking distance of the Abbey where we started the charity walk. Nothing
- Richard (10/5): -
- Vaughan (9/5): - Cozy space, bed was very comfortable and in a really good location. Around a 10 minute walk from the Abbey then you can head down into the main town. Driveway was a little tight to get onto but other than that everything was lovely.
- Alice (10/5): - Great location to Whitby town
- Amelia (10/5): Very good, weather was sunny. Lucky us -
- Chloe (10/5): - Very clean and well kept, perfect spot and easy to find
- Hazel (10/5): -
- Izzy (9/5): Cosy, cute and convenient - Excellent location to walk to town, parking on site and so many cute extra touches in the room. Thank you
- Sarah Louise (7/5): My stay at the romantic retreat - I liked the bedroom it was cosy and in a nice quiet location. A nice welcome drink for two and plenty of little touches was really nice. The bathroom got very cold during the night and day I would maybe recommend a heated towel rail that would keep the bathroom warmer.
- Leng (10/5): -
- Jacquelyn (9/5): Lovely, cosy and a great choice for a Whitby getaway. - It was a very comfortable room and en-suite shower. It was cosy and clean. The location was a little far from town which was fine for us as we didn’t mind walking up the steep hill at the end of the day but might be difficult for someone with restricted mobility.
- Susan (4/5): Unromantic retreat - Romantic retreat was nicely presented once inside, however it was way too small to be comfortable. We weren't aware it was a converted single garage. We found it too small and claustrophobic. There was nowhere to hang wet clothing. People need to be made aware it is a single garage. We would not have booked it had we known. We have paid less to stay in a 4 star hotel, so we found it expensive in comparison. That it was a single garage in someone's garden which was very small inside and lacked space to hang clothing, coats etc. The tea making facilities were inadequate as there was not enough worktop space or sink.
- Elijah (8/5): - Good location, with a parking spot conveniently located right next to the property. The property was furnished with amenities to make your stay very pleasant. We loved the decor and also appreciated the convenience of the self-check-in/out system implemented by the establishment. Easy accessibility to the city center, as it is within walking distance from the property. For the price of the room, the internet had to be better. It was unusable during our stay. Unable to connect
- Helen (10/5): Great nights sleep in a lovely room. - It was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Nothing, it was as described and had everything we needed.
- Joseph (9/5): - Small but neat and tidy room.Host was very helpful
- Tracy (10/5): -
- David (9/5): A wonderful base for our visit to Whitby and surrounding areas. - The property was exceptionally clean and very comfortable.
In a nice quiet location but close enough to the centre of Whitby.
- Jason (8/5): - Had Everything we needed for an overnight stay.
- Craig (10/5): -
- Marcus (9/5): -
- M HULME (8/5): -
- Swift (9/5): - Very nicely decorated. Very clean. Wasn't a very big room but was ok for 2 nights.
- Aistė (7/5): Good option for a short trip - Overall it was good for 1 night, warm enough at night, easy to get to and has parking. Seemed like a quiet area, nice garden at the entrance and not too far from the main restaurants etc No wifi and no cell service. Or should I say extremely temperamental wifi. Okay for 1 night but I wouldn't stay longer or for a workcation
- Deborah (9/5): - The Comfy bed.
The little kitchen area.
Location
Parking
Pretty and well-kept gardens on entry to property
Immaculately clean
Tea. Coffee sugar. Difficult connection to the Internet, but that's probably because I'm not tech savvy. Couldn't set up the TV. But Julie did offer to get someone to help. But eventually managed connection to wifi and watch bbc player for the news.
But please don't let this discourage anyone from booking. It's a quaint bedsit with everything you need. Excellent location to whitby centre and the abbey with parking at the property 👌
Julie was very helpful making sure we knew about checking in. Good host.
- philip (8/5): i enjoyed my stay and woluld return. - it had everything you could need, a high standard of cleanliness, and a decent size tv. being located at the top of the hill was a bit of a challenge, but after all it is whitby, i enjoyed it.
- Peter (8/5): - Nice and quiet nice walk to the town There was a lack of storage space a set of draws where the settee was would solve the problem
- Sam (8/5): A good base for a few nights - This is a cosy room in a great location for exploring Whitby, which is a short walk to the centre of town. The room was very clean and tidy, it was really useful to have a parking space, overall it was a good base for our stay.
Whitby is a really lovely place. Theres a nice beach if the weather is nice and if not, plenty of museums and independant shops to wander around. There are also some cracking pubs to explore, The White Horse and Griffin is a great place for food, a really characterful old coaching inn with delishious food. The Whitby brewery tap house by the abbey is also a good one, with some cracking ales for those into their beer. The Abbey itself is iconic and a must for anyone visiting. A really evocative and atmospheric place. I would say that the room is very small. Cutlery, plates, a toaster etc are provided, but there is nowhere to eat other than sat on the bed, and the sink in the bathroom is too small to wash anything up. We stayed for three nights, which I think was long enough, any longer and we'd have started to struggle with how small the place was.
The shower also lacked pressure.
- John (10/5): Great location, lovely hosts, very friendly & honest people. The rooms are done to high specifications. We will defi - Lovely comfortable bed, very nicely decorated
- Sarah (10/5): Perfect stay - Spotless, comfy bed, cosy, perfect location, quiet, coffee machine was a bonus. We slept so well! The parking space was quite tight to get into but ok once you're parked up
- Jordan (9/5): Superb - This was absolutely beautiful inside, very spacious, tea coffee facilities, and ensuite really pleased with it all. Parking was right outside which was a bonus. The only down side we had was the fact that it was at the top of a very steep hill which we were unaware of previously to booking it. No fault of the owners but for an unfit couple it was a work out :)
- Tom (10/5): Whitby stay - Lovely and clean. Everything ya need.
Nice touches with a couple of cold beers in the fridge.
Short walk to the front.
Just enough room for a big car, off road parking space.
Helpful host
Thank you 😊
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Superb - The property is small but perfectly formed. The bed was very comfortable. Very clean. Excellent for a short stay. Location is not far from town, shops and harbour. A little further from beach. Access to the town includes a steep hill. We used the car after our initial encounter with the hill. Parking south of the river is limited, but we managed without too much difficulty and enjoyed our stay. Recommend!
- Rory (8/5): Very good - Easy access to this cosy property. Town centre and the abbey are both a short walk away. Not so much storage space e.g draws etc. But for a couple of nights, not a problem
- Steve (10/5): Highly recommend - Lovely owners. Love the property, better than imagined. Highly Recommended. Would definitely stay again.
- Jason (9/5): Superb -
- Calum (8/5): Very good -
- María (8/5): Good balance of price and comfort - The location, and every detail in the room was perfect. I would be happy to come back It could have been better with black out curtains.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional - Clean, comfortable. Port and wine were a nice touch. Easy walk into town.
- Mark (10/5): Little stay in whitby - Off road parking and really close to whitby ( steep walk, but that's a good for burning the beer off ). Great location and would definitely use again Needs blackout blinds in bedroom, but other than that, absolutely fine
- Abigail (5/5): Ok - It was chilly even with very small heater on Chilly
- Philip (9/5): Superb - The host was very approa gable and friwndly Nothing.
- Keith (9/5): Superb -
- Mrs (10/5): Great place - Lovely hosts and will definitely be returning 😊
- Warren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ralph (10/5): Excellent location, nice room, great weekend - Excellent prime location, stayed over WGW. Hosts very obliging, had a great weekend
- Box (10/5): Exceptional - I can't fault anything about this place they the little decanter of port was a lovely surprise very clean as well the only thing was we couldn't stay longer we will stay again here xxx NOTHING AT ALL
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - The room had everything that you needed for your stay. It was very cosy.
- Bosier (8/5): Very good -
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - Everything, great host, great location and little touches in the room which made a difference Nothing
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (9/5): Superb - Perfect for a one or two night break.
Ensuite, plus a little area with a microwave, toaster, kettle & cutlery.
Exceptionally clean, and fresh smelling.
And a cheeky little decanter of complimentary Port too (sorry for breaking one of your decanter glasses ☺️)
Comfy bed too.
10 mins to the harbour area.
Set in a lovely, well kept garden.
Free parking at the property, bonus. There was nothing we didn't like.
Although we didn't mind one bit, for anyone with limited mobility, it's a hilly walk, or some serious steps to climb, to reach the accommodation from the harbour area.
A taxi is only around £7.
Whitby never claimed to be flat 😀
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Huddy (8/5): Very good -
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely decor, comfortable bed, nice big shower and the room was lovely and warm.
- Amy (8/5): Great stay. Lovely little room. - Location was great. Close to everything, you can see the abbey in the distance from the drive. Room was cozy and comfortable. Very comfy bed though. Was very clean and smelled gorgeous. Love the little port decanter that was left. We now love port. Keys left in the back of the door. Host communicated to ask if everything was ok which was nice. Lots of nice little touches to make you feel at home. The quilt was too thick for us, just our personal preference. Got very hot under the quilt very cold out of the quilt. It is just a garage conversion not an apartment. Would've liked somewhere to wash pots. Not a great walk back up with the very steep steps.
- Katie (9/5): Comfortable accommodation close to town. Would not hesitate to recommend to others. - Good location about 10 minutes walk from town.
Very comfortable accommodation.
‘The Fonz’ lives across the road so is close by if you have any problems. Really helpful and friendly guy.
Hey………! Nothing, it was all good.
- Terry (9/5): Superb - Everything you need in a inviting space
- Lee (10/5): Laid back little gem - The self containment, the location, the parking ease, little touches (crockery , cuttlery, tea, coffee water), early check in and very helpful staff Leaving!
- Gail (10/5): Super cute - Warm and cosy Nothing
- Scott (6/5): Pleasant - The Landlady was very welcoming.
The bed was comfortable.
The location was good. On the morning of our departure, we had some issues with the power supply in the area that had a kettle, microwave etc.
And also the shower wouldn't work due to the same issue, so we were unable to shower before our journey home, I tried to message and call the proprietor, but I had no reply and the calls were not able to connect.
- Jane (8/5): Wheelhouse review. - Lovely hosts. Extremely helpful. Loved the decanter of Port. Very nice touch. Convenient to walk into town and the off-road parking was a bonus. I would have liked a shelf or something to put toiletries on in the ensuite.
- George (8/5): A pleasant stay at the Wheelhouse - Ideally located to walk into Whitby or up to the Abbey. The property was compact, comfortable and had all the necessities for a short stay. Had to live out of our suitcase as there was no storage space.
- Holly (10/5): Great overnight stay in good quality accommodation - Completely self contained conversion felt just like a mini apartment
Decoration is lovely and it was spotlessly clean
Parking is a total bonus and there are many routes to walk into Whitby
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Andrea (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (10/5): Lovely place to stay , we will be back - Clean ,tidy and decor really nice
Great location N/a
- Chantelle (10/5): Excellent Gem In Whitby - We absolutely loved staying here, wonderful accommodation to a very high spec, what a fantastic location, perfect staying east side of Whitby, Abbey is roundthe corner, all lit up this week, brilliant photos. The bed was so comfortable, lovley contained suite. We shall definitely be returning soon, thank you Julie & Colin, wonderful hosts x
- John (8/5): Comfortable stay which I would recommed - Very clean and comfortable.
Ideal for short trip. 10 minute walk into center. Everything catered for in your room. Even a microwave. Although it didn’t bother us it could be a problem for other people with mobility difficulties. The 10 minute walk to town was very steep & cobbled in places. Got a taxi from town on a night which was approx £8.
- Lynda (4/5): It's OK for one night's stay. - A good first impression, with a well-stocked garden, very colourful. The bed was comfy (but why all those cushions?) and the room had a good view of the landscape to the horizon. The en-suite was clean and everything worked! This was advertised as luxury accommodation. On entering the house, there were cleaning materials including a vacuum in the hall, along with a random vase of artificial flowers. The key was in the lock. We found an average-sized bedroom, with a fridge behind the door, a microwave on top of it, and a tea-tray on top of that. We later found plates inside the microwave. The en-suite was too tiny to call a bathroom, we stepped into the bedroom to get dried after a shower to give some room. None of the doors closed properly, ie the wardrobe, en-suite, or bedroom door, making that awkward to lock. It would have been helpful to have had some information somewhere in the room, eg for WiFi code
- Melissa (10/5): Lovely and quiet, beautiful gardens, comfortable bed, helpful neighbour. - Beautiful room
Beautiful gardens
Helpful neighbour in charge of settling me in Precipitous hill, no mention of this in the descriprtion, NEEDS to be mentioned.
Not used to driving a standard, and very daunting.
- Thomas (10/5): Wonderful staff!!! - The owner was very understanding and accommodating even with a last minute booking! The room was so cute & cozy. Very clean! Mark was awesome and helped us out so much during our stay!! He even drove us to the grocery store & gave us some British chocolates to try! Wonderful experience. I loved everything!
- Aileen (7/5): Good - Niceley decorated and comfortable bed had a fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle and coffee machine. Saying that there was no seating area to eat your food. No dressing table and the few hangers were on a wall above the side lamp for your clothes. Tiny bathroom and sink. This is a converted garage so understand that but don't class it as an apartment.
- Craig (10/5): Wonderful stay and great hosts - The location and the apartment very nice property Nothing
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Easy walk to the Abbey.
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Quality garage conversion set in a lovely, well maintained garden. The room has everything you need, fridge, kettle, even a microwave and toaster! 10 minute walk into the centre, what more do you need, excellent. Leaving.
- Tim (8/5): Very good -
- Matt (10/5): Excellent stay, very close to the town and abbey. - The attention to detail, the decor, facilities. Very welcoming. Very comfortable.
- Dane (8/5): Very good - Central location No shower mat slippery in shower
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Cain (9/5): Very friendly hosts, good location. Plenty of steps to Whitby but to be expected in a seaside town. - Property was clean and well presented. Colin and Julie were very friendly and excellent hosts. Property was very clean and well presented. Shower temperature a little difficult to control.
- Clare (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing little hidden gem, short walk down to the harbour and about 10 minutes to the Abbey. Perfect hosts and spotless! Nothing, just wish we could have stayed longer!
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (9/5): Superb -
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely staff and beautiful gardens. - Spotless and welcoming.
