Guest Reviews
- Glynis (10/5): A very comfortable and friendly hotel. I’ll definitely be back. - This was my second stay at the Sandford Arms. It is a lovely friendly place. Clean and comfortable and delicious breakfast. Everything was wonderful so I liked everything!
- Kathleen (9/5): Great stay in lovely old country pub - Lovely old country pub in small, quiet village with plenty of parking. Large garden rooms in converted barn? Comfortable room with lots of facilities and free wifi. Staff very welcoming, friendly & helpful throughout. Good pub food and breakfast (served very quickly as numbers controlled by booking times.) I expected a garden room to look out onto some greenery, the garden area is a private fenced area of flags and gravel with sun loungers, ideal for taking the sun, for small children or dogs but no greenery.
There was insufficient soundproofing to block out our neighbour's snoring.
- Jean (9/5): Great location - Very friendly staff. Excellent location and attractive old building which has been well maintained. Good breakfast.
- Katherine (8/5): Beautiful tranquil stop after a long journey. - Very close to A66. Perfect for a one night stopover. Room very cold on arrival. Got radiator to turn on but didn’t work very well.
- caroline (10/5): - Lovely room and friendly helpful staff

- Frances (10/5): Fabulous - Lovely large room. Comfy beds. Very friendly staff. Peaceful surroundings. Good pub grub - especially the cooked breakfast which my husband appreciated very much! If you like other amenities around you, don’t come here. If you like peace and quiet, this is the place for you.

- Helen (10/5): Fab last minute find. - Loved the location. Just far enough off the a66 for peace and quiet. Food was amazing. Staff were warm and welcoming. Room was warm and comfortable. It will be our go to stop over when travelling between home in the Lakes and visiting family in Lincoln. You'll definitely be seeing us again soon. Nothing

Good friendly staff. Internet was very poor. Had to use my mobile hotspot. Internet kept dropping out.
Bed was very very soft. Morning with very bad back.

- Penelope (10/5): A lovely place to stay for people and dogs ! - Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, great ambience, and a beautiful 2km walk by the river which suited my dog perfectly.
The dog was truly welcomed and I would thoroughly recommend the Sandford Arms to anyone travelling with a dog. My fish and chip supper was OK, but a bit over-cooked. I probably should have chosen one of the “specials” from the menu.
- Frank (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet location, friendly helpful staff, nice room, excellent value and good food. Would stay there again
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Marion (9/5): A super stop over. If only we had more time to stay longer. - A very well kept establishment. Nicely decorated & equipped. Super hosts/staff. Great food. We were made most welcome (dog included) & felt very comfortable here. Nice village and walks & good access to A66 & surrounding countryside. We liked everything about this place.
- Sue (10/5): Enjoy your bus day, lovely food friendly staff nothing too much trouble - Everybody with friendly and helpful couldn’t have been better Nothing to dislike
- Peakman (10/5): Excellent stay - The pub is in an excellent location if, like me, you are climbing the mountains in the vicinity, being 20 minutes or so from Mickle Fell and Little Fell car parks. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room big enough for me and my dog and the meals were varied and excellent. There was nothing not to like, I would definitely recommend it and definitely stay there again.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good -
- Pam (7/5): Good -
- Ian (9/5): First day of our break made even better by staying here. Excellent - Superb food, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. Very dog friendly (£10 charge) Very comfy beds. A little off the beaten track and all the better for it. We wouldnt hesitate to come back. Superb ! Nothing. It was great
- Emma (10/5): Perfect for a weekend getaway - Great food, lovely staff, dog friendly and nice location. Top quality full English included in the price of the room - would definitely stay again and recommend to others. The pillows could have been a bit thicker but not really an issue! (we usually bring our own but forgot them)
